Beautiful Musial, I can see in your face how much it means to you, makes me happy to see someone so passionate and proud of their collection. Thx for sharing!
I can see Theo trying to track down a 4.6 Clemente, lol. What a great Musial card. Thanks for the sneak peak for those of us in the text thread. Love the 50s Bowman with the artwork of the grandstands in the background. What a terrific copy, congrats John!
Too funny. 😂 Congratulations! What a beautiful Musial card. Love the direction your collection is going and growing. Well thought out and done with patiences. Mostly that you enjoy what you like and having fun with it. Great video and thanks for sharing. Take care.
Whoa!!! Stan the Man for the win!!! Super cool John!! Congratulations on the huge pickup!!! It looks like you joined a nice little 48 Bowman club at the end as well.😁
The 53 Bowman is a great choice. If it wasn’t for the 52, I would have been debating between the 53 and his 54 Red Heart. Best of luck to you in your quest.
Thanks for the kind words! We can only make the best of the circumstances we are given and I'm ready to be patient to save for the bigger cards in my future. Thanks for watching!
@@3D80sKid I am also a very thrifty collector. I have less than 10 cards I would say that I paid "up" for. Nowadays, I find the true challange in finding "diamonds in the ruff" in the lower grades. Keep doing what you do and thanks for the content.
Thanks Lou! The 52 are nice. I don’t know that I can pick just one and it’s like they have three eras: Simple 48-49, artsy 50-52, Photographic 53-55. I think I’m most partial to 50 and 53.
The Mays will always be special as the first vintage card I wanted. (Even if my current copy is not the first one I bought.) and yes, the Musial is ok too. 🤣 thanks CK!
Beautiful Musial John! Wow! First, you beat Theo on his 71 Clemente, then you go and grab that beauty of his new favorite player,to collect, who's next Dick Groat? Congrats on that great addition!
Next level stuff, John! Congrats on the sweet pickup. That’s a great looking card! Always good to see the .5 higher than Theo’s 71 Clemente 😄 Great ending with the clubbies 👏
I give this episode a 4.5 out of 5 stars! Just like that Clemente! You should show it off again. Love seeing it. What I don’t love is getting Rick Rolled, as I will now go on a 45 minute Astley video heater . Congrats on the Stan.
Great card, I like how you worked your way up to it. I'm doing that with increasingly bigger purchases as well. I think I'm up to the 3s. Maybe at the National I'll crack the barrier.
Thanks Eddy! Since we’re the same age I’m guessing we both have Boomer parents who were raised by Depression era parents so we both probably have similar mental hurdles with spending money. Best of luck to you! I guess I’m going to be attempting to nuke all of my mental blocks at this year’s National if I can find the right Ruth card.
@@3D80sKid You pegged me perfectly. We are living parallel lives other than the small boarder that separates us. I even prefer SGC way over all other, BUT have not decided to go SGC exclusive. Your beautiful display has me thinking otherwise sometimes though.
John, we share in your joy, indeed! If a collector is going to spend the big bucks, I cannot think of a better way to do it than on the glorious 1952 Bowman Stan The Man! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 Congrats on a truly epic pickup! I loved seeing some of your clubbies at the end of the video! Of course, I hope to join you guys in that glorious club some day! 😊👊 P.S. Your 1932 U.S. Caramel FDR is such a sweet card! IMHO, a card absolutely worth reaching a bit, price-wise, in order to obtain! P.S.S. I'll leave you with a cryptic equation that few would understand, but you will nail it easily: T = J - 0.5 😆😆😆
Thanks Adam! Perhaps some gorgeous Lopat cards? It’s always more fun collecting with friends. P.S. Thanks! I’ve left my search for it and another has yet to surface. P.S.S. 🤣 You can’t argue with math.
Gorgeous card John , before you know it you will be crossing the $1000 threshold. When you first dive into vintage / prewar you think too much about the price and then before you know it you will start thinking "it's only money" Congratulations John , nice purchase 👍
Thanks Doug! If I’m able to connect with the right card at the National I will be blasting away all the mental barriers as I’ve been saving since last July for a Ruth purchase. So we’ll see how that goes.
I’m targeting the 1920 W519 unnumbered in an Authentic. I am willing to be patient for the right one for the right price. So if I have to wait until after the National for an auction I will.
Thanks Tony! It is a great one. I think the 51 vs 52 status probably is a combination of two factors: a couple of big rookies in the 51 set and the 52 set getting overshadowed by that other card company. Just a guess?
Dag-nab-it! It was you! 😡I was one of the watchers and waiters on that 52B Musial, but wasn't home when the price reduction hit. But I'm happy for you. I've got the 52B Snider in SGC 4 now, so I want the Musial more than ever. Eye appeal! Color that jumps! Centering! I can live with worn corners or wax on the back. I have the Duke version of your Stan the Man. For me it's Graig-approved centering (Midlife Sports Cards).
Sorry you missed out. (But not really. LOL It's the polite thing to say, right?) Congrats on the Duke! Knowing both Graig and Dylan (Double D Vintage Baseball Cards), Dylan approved is basically Graig approved on steroids. Best of luck to you in your Musial quest!
@@3D80sKid I just bought the Musial in PSA 5 for $499. But it doesn't look any nicer than yours. I took a chance because the seller had some old poor feedback for not shipping. But he must ship to the eBay authenticator, so they will deal with any shenanigans and there is no risk to me..
@@cryptonite8495 Congrats on picking up a beautiful card! Yes, with authentication in the middle of it, it does shield you from shipping concerns. It will take at least two weeks now, but you definitely get either the card or the refund without hassle.
I can completely relate to everything you said here! I was always keeping it under $100...BUT...if you want a nice Mantle or Williams or my biggest purchase my 53 Satchel Paige, you gotta loosen them purse strings!😂 Awesome Musial and great content, you got a new subscriber here👍
Thanks Scott! This card is the reason I was tortured and had to resist the Willie as this card was headed to authentication when the card was offered to me.

I hear he's going to Strongsville, so I would be shocked if a 71 upgrade is not on his list. LOL
I am in love with my new Musial for sure.
Beautiful card, John. I absolutely love that card, and yours is a BEAUTY!!
Thanks Graig! I picked it because I thought it was his best looking card, and it seems many agree.
Congrats on the pickup! It's a beauty. Way to bring Dan, Joe and Don along for the ride! Enjoyed, thanks for sharing.

Wow, just look at that stunner. Beautiful Musial. Congratulations John! People are missing out if they are not watching until the end.
Thanks Doug! I would agree. If I ever do another giveaway I’ll have to give the info in the ending.
Absolutely gorgeous card! Money well spent Congratulations!
