    Great set up. Don’t forget to cut out a hole and consider access so you can access the spare wheel winch bolt! Otherwise you will have to strip everything out just to change a flat. Happy travels. 👍

      Hey William, I can get to the "bolt" with a socket and the ratchet in between the small gap there. I haven't tested it in the field yet but will have to soon with the new wheels going on. :) I'm looking into replacing the spart to the rear but it's a bit expensive so it's not on the top of the list.

    I like what you done for platform support. I can steal your idea for my Defender rear.

    Hey Simon - brilliant video, as always. Love the way the wife calls to say keep the noise down, then you start hammering.

      Oh, I forgot to mention ... one of the best accessories for the garage are the Ikea stools that you have - I also have them in my garage, and they are invaluable.

      Hehe yeah, I use them all the time. So handy for any work in the garage. :) Will be looking at making a proper work table for the garage, on wheels, that is more useful than the static bench I have now. :)

      Hehehehe, I only had two left and it needed to be done. But yeah, garage is next to the house so I bet she heard it pretty good. :) The box in the garage, near the opening is where I have silenced the air compressor so I can work late evenings after the kids have gone to sleep. :)

    Hi Simon, I really like the drawer system very organised. Also glad you didn't fall into the trap we all do occasionally by just rushing it. By delaying your trip it enabled you to get it how you wanted and the trip will help you tweak it until you get the perfect set up. On the passenger side long board on the floor, you could consider cutting it along the length and putting a piano hinge on it to allow full access underneath 👍this is definitely something I want to do in my D3 too for my next overlanding trip.

      Hi Simon, I think it turned out well to be a two day diy build and with second hand drawers. Definitely have some changes I want to do but only minor for now. 😊 Drawers are something I recommend and it has really changes the car for the better. Smile every time I get to open them at camp. 😊

    Great 👍 video, Great set up!
    Question fir you,
    How it cost you?
    How much weight is now & before?
    How many miles you will get now abs before?
    Is a good idea to upgrade the fuel tank?
    I would like to something like that to my lr3.
    Thank you bro!
    Keep over landing..

      Hey Mr. Armando - The drawers was bought second hand so cost me 6000NOK ≈ 600$, the wooden plate I think was around 60$. The rest I had laying around from other house projects. I had searched for drawers for a while and these came along just in time. I was suppose to weigh it before I started adding all the weight but the local weight station was out of order at the time. I know that I was up at 2950kg when I was fully packed for a trip so it's getting up there. I think it's even higher now with the added mods that are on now. 😅 I saw about 8L/100km after adding the roof rack and drawers. With the latest mods I'm seeing 9L/100km. But I think maybe I have a injector staring to go bad. For now upgrading the fuel tank is not necessary as the 80L It's more than enough for what I do. I would just get one or two jerrycans, super cheap and you can add them only when you need them, not carrying the extra weight all the time. Thank you for watching and for great questions! Best wishes for you and your LR3. Simon

    you could roll the spatulas and things in a towl, though might get bulky

      Yeah, smart, could have maybe also have some cloth bags for them with a zipper. Thanks for the idea. 👍😊

    Really liking the look of the drawers you have. Can I ask where you got them from?

    • @LandRoverDrive
      @LandRoverDrive  2 роки тому +1

      Hey, I got them second hand. They are tool drawers like the electricians use. There are many brands but these are “Sortimo”

    Hi Simon, really enjoy your videos! I hope one day to be able to see that part of the world with my own eyes while overlanding! Now that it's been several months, how is your system holding up? any changes planned? anything you wished you'd have done differently from the start? I absolutely agree about the rattling, I can't stand having anything rattle. I have had problems with the drawers themselves rattling in the past as the tolerances when shut still allowed a little movement that made the slides themselves rattle... still trying to figure out how to prevent that on my upcoming drawer build (I'm thinking some sort of rubber bumper)... anyways, keep up the great work!

      Hey Brandon and sorry. for the late reply. I have kept the same drawers and are really happy with them. I have modified the platform on which they sit, lifted it slightly to get some better access to the space underneath. So far its been really good and a nice adjustment and I wont be changing it out any time soon. I have added some 12v the past year and there will come videos about it later. Just need to get time to edit everything. New video out today.! And yeah, can't have hose rattling noises, I hope you find a good solution. Best, Simon.

    Looking great Simon, I have a random question for you. How do you heat your workshop. Thanks David

    • @LandRoverDrive
      @LandRoverDrive  2 роки тому +1

      Not random at all 👍 I use an AC, we call them Heating Pumps(Varmepumpe) It’s a AC that is made heating effective in colder climates. With low power prices it’s the cheapest way to heat up the garage. I do turn it of when I know I don’t need to work in the garage to save some money. 😊 Simon

    Nice video dude, and glad you included the links.
    The drawers look like they'll suit your purpose well. Had any thoughts about sharing your plans for the sizes and dimensions of the design. I'm sure it'd be worth a donation to your patron if someone used it?
    One thing, can you still get an extension bar/socket in through that low space to get access to the spare wheel winch mech?

    • @LandRoverDrive
      @LandRoverDrive  2 роки тому

      Hey and thank you! The drawers is great and they have so far been a big plus for when I’m camping or traveling in genera. Car is always ready to go. I haven thought about sharing the plans other than the videos but could probably draw something up. Simple stage one build and a diy anyone could do. 👍😊 I can reach it and can get a socket on it and use the ratchet to lower the wheel. Thinking about relocating the spare, so far the swing away’s and rear bar is to expensive and is not included in the budget. 😊 On note about the build is that I would have put the lower plate 3-4cm higher is I was to do it again, just to get better clearance underneath and maybe put in a sliding table or the solar panel’s. 👍

      @@LandRoverDrive Tote boxes, a bit like the grey and black ones you keep your gear in when it’s not being used. A stronger alternative would be wolf boxes. But now you have a cool draw system you won’t need boxes
