I don't know if this was an intentional goal, but love that Rachel's always seeming to tackle working with interesting materials. She's also always making me laugh. :D
I LOVE how comprehensive Rachel was with this video, covering methods and tools and just answering all my questions before I realized I had them. WELL DONE! This is one of the best videos SG has made.
Love that Rachel is becoming more and more open and organic on the camera instead of so “step by step here’s what the videos about” she seems to be having a lot more fun and the confidence is shinning through !
I have a project that is about 18months in the planning phase so far because I was uncertain about bending the thick sheets of acrylic I had found in a skip. But you have given me some good advice and I’m happy to go ahead now. Thanks girls and thank goodness for women who design because design needs more of us.
Oh my goodness!!! I'm so excited about this video! My husband is a truck driver, and a while ago, he made a delivery to an acrylic manufacturing company. They had huge crates outside of their scrap that they were throwing away, so he got permission to get some from it. He brought home several sizes and thicknesses of acrylic scraps for me to DIY, but I haven't had many ideas on what to do with them.
I swear as soon as I think about wanting to do a particular DIY, The Sorry Girls are a step ahead of me and I’m soooooo grateful. These came out great! 💕
I love crafting with scraps of acrylic! I don't like buying full sheets though and the only place that carries it is a big box home improvement store. However they don't sell the scraps! One of the guys at the store told me to go around to the back of the store to their dumpster. That's where it all goes. I've never dumpster dived but holy cow. Not only did I find really big pieces of acrylic but full boxes of tile, wood flooring, rolls of wallpaper, cans of paint, pavers, bricks, cinderblocks, molding - tons of molding broken in half. Apparently their scrap wood section had been to full so there was a ton of wood of all sorts there also. In the end we nearly filled the back of the truck. Oh, and an entire case of painters caulking, boxes of nails & screws and.. taadaa.. a new blade for my ridingmower! Yeah, I'm a happy camper.
This is great, I love educational/instructional content! I would have liked to see actual video of how you fixed the coffee table because problem solving is ...probably half of DIY work, so it would be good to see it go down in detail rather than just cut to finished piece. Great work!
Yay! A Rachel video. I love Rachel she has such a sweet smile. She brings such a fun perspective to the sorry girls and isn't afraid to try new things like cement mixing and now acrylic. A great addition to TSG team.
You nailed everything in this video! It was well planned, presented and delivered, and styled. Clean and neat, techniques were easy to follow along with, and the DIYs themselves turned out so professionally but also were super achievable. Rachel and editors, you guys killed it!
I gotta say, I was on the fence when Rachel joined TSG, but I just love her!!! I love how she has such a calming tone of voice in her videos, and she is so stinking creative! A+++ job on getting her on the team Becky & Kelsey!
Rachel is amazing part of TSG. She’s so creative and there is no hesitation in admitting if something doesn’t work and finding ways to overcome and adapt
this was so cool to watch! I've already made a clear shelf to put some of my legos on, but that was just by gluing together some already flat pieces and drilling some holes to mount it. It didn't occur to me that bent acrylic pieces could be DIYed! Thank you for showing us how
Love, love these pieces. I want to re vamp my office…..I want acrylic storage and stacks shelves……so this is going to be a fun project. Great ideas here…..of what and how to do it…..and……what not 😏🤔😏to do to get some good results!
I would love to make a picnic table with acrylic! I don’t know how sturdy it would be, but I think of it having the ‘floating’ plate vibe! I love the round wavy piece you didn’t buy!
I feel like you could use a hole saw and jig saw and knock out some handles on the sides of the magazine holder to make it more functional but keep the beautiful aesthetic. Beautiful projects!
I really like her too, she's quite different from Becky and Kelseys style, and in the beginning, there were some harsh critics about her joining which was pretty ignorant. This was a great DIY video
This was inspirational. Thank you for sharing your projects. I want to try and make a cat window bed out of acrylic and this gave me some confidence to try it. 😊
I find bending acrylic so fascinating. I actually got to make a lamp shade out of bent translucent acrylic. It was for a class project and we had a jig that used an electric current I think to heat up a wire. The heat was more concentrated to one area so it didn’t take that long to heat up (1-2 mins).
I wish I had all those tools! Acrylic organizers are so expensive in sweden and I have bought many during the last 15 years because I love them. They looks so clean and have great quality, but I always look through houndreds of products online before I decide what to buy. I wish I could make my own acrylic boxes because I have so many ideas of how I want it to look but I've never found anything similar to that so I buy other shapes that works but I want it to be perfect!
Ha do you do that with everything you buy ? I literally scroll through 100s, sometimes a thousand of an item searching, I just assumed it was my OCD always looking for the perfect thing for me which in reality doesn't always happen lol
@@Sunnbuzz yes always haha I spend days online looking for one thing , sometimes weeks go bye because I have gone through so many online shops and thousands of pages and my brain gets totally exhausted but I can't stop. I need to make sure I have seen everything I can find so I know what to buy. I don't have ocd, at least not as far as I know, but I'm a perfectionist, and I have anxietydisorder, panicattacks, depression, PTSD, ADD and burnout syndrome and it can have something to do with that.. I'm not sure but I also love interior so it's important for me to find the perfect things that matches everything but I'm the same with everything else I buy besides from food 😅
@@sweetsoldier5 Thanks for sharing I've never met anyone else that does things the way I do so it's so interesting and comforting. My friend has trouble deciding on things she has ADHD but she doesn't have the focus to prolong her decisions so its different. I think however we are more searching for the "perfect" thing that needs to be right or we are stressed. People always say to me when I need something, oh just go and buy it, it seems so simple for them and for most people it is I don't think I've ever just gone and bought something I needed because I never find it the 1st time, or the 10th lol . I need a new pair of summer shoes, I looked through 2,000 shoes on Ebay and couldn't find anything, now yesterday I broke mine so I think for easiness I'm just going to buy exactly the same pair I had (A high wedge suede shoe made by UGG some years ago) I laughed because as I was going through my very particular search parameters the pair of shoes I had that broke, the UGGS, popped up. Honestly, it can be tiring, defeating and frustrating purchasing stuff sometimes because if I need something in a hurry I'm lost. I know in reality no one else will notice the small difference that leads to a purchase or not - I have no idea why for me its such a big issue Take care
I loved working with acrilic in my school's metal working class We had a special thingo that you sat it on the softened a line for bending it , was fun and satisfying
I love Rachel’s videos! I love how she experiments with different materials and provides lots of info but it’s not overwhelming. Great work! And the coffee table turned out even better than the original plan :)
Perfect timing, I was looking in to it for few weeks now since I wanted to make a little shelf for my kitchen 😅 and it was inspired by the same channel 😄
I love how that things come out 😃. These days a saw a guy on tiktok doing a top with acrylic he used a mannequin and was molding with this heating tool, it looked like a fabric that is hit by the wind.
She’s after your girls heart with THAT red wall shelf! 8 months ago I started a serious search for an acrylic coffin shaped wall shelf (to hang in the bathtub for shampoos and soaps) a little too eccentric, lol. I couldn’t even find a solid plexiglass box in neon colors. Lol
I just watched another channel called Peter Draws and he used an LED kit. He used an etching tool to draw custom designs and then had a nice multi lighted artwork. BTW, just found this channel and enjoying all the great designs and ideas. Thanks!
When you’re cutting acrylic with power tools you also have to be careful because if the blade heats up it can melt the plastic and ruin the edge! I don’t see a lot of diy channels tackling interesting materials like acrylic, really enjoyed this.
These are really cool! Will definitely be trying some 🙌🏼✨ though please wear a mask when cutting acrylic with any electryc saw that sends plastic particles into the air!
what a great video Rachel!! i love the combination of your creativity/ingenuity alongside such thorough instructions and advice. feel really inspired after watching this-- you got me looking up plastic wholesale in my area 😁 keep up the awesome work, i'm looking forward to seeing more from you in the future!
Most acrylic projects highlight the sleek nature of the material but one can make acrylic much funkier by etching and painting the material. It is also great with layered vinyl decals.
I'd love a follow up to test out possible ways to paint/color acrylic (esp that keep it transparent)? I wanted to make an acrylic frame but only could find clear and painted it with transparent paint. It turned out so-so. Would love to see if there are other options!
Oh my goodness Rachel, you are so amazing! I love all of those pieces and if I had the chance to work with acrylic I would love to give it a go,. I have worked with acrylic when I have framed some artwork, and cutting it with this knife worked very well. But I really think that heat gun is the bomb to bend the acrylic in cool shapes. Thanks so much for this really wonderful video. I hope that you have a great weekend coming up, sending love and hugs, bye for now. 🤣😉💜
I love that rachel is just experimenting and exploring modern materials in her videos. Can't wait to see her creations develop !!!
rach is one to watch for sure!🥰🥰
The coffee table design got much cooler after the adjustments 👌
I totally agree😃
seriously I think it got so much cooler with the leg extensions underneath!
and much more practical for storage!
Actually the final coffee table is even better, much more dynamic. I love when obstacles become opportunities

I love how neat you are with your diys, you're probably the most detail oriented of the group - and I love it. These works look so professional.
The score n’ snap! Works every time! 💅🏼

I made an acrylic photo frame in school when I was 13. Attached little acrylic heart and flower shapes to it too! So much fun.
I love how this vid takes us to the basics with no fancy tools that almost nobody owns
Rachel is a risk taker and I LOVE that!! The table looks amazing 👏🏽 😍
I love this. I have clear Ludwig drums and everything in my room is clear. Thanks for posting this.
Wow I’m amazed by how much weight that little pink shelf can hold🤯
i feel like adding the extra bends to the table made it look WAYYY more high end. it looks like a more finished piece. you nailed it. how fun!

Wow great save on the coffee table! Better than the intended design I think!
Loved that you explained the process so clearly, for example describing types of blades to use.
I think the acrylic is so cool. I never knew that it was so easy to get and to work with. Thanks again TSG
The coffee table came out amaaaaazing!!! I love it SO MUCH! Storing it away for future me in a future house. 🖤🖤🖤

Very cool, changed my mind about acrylic furniture!
For some reason I think it's so endearing that you marked it with the cute tiny markers 😂 Very relatable to my chaotic apartment DIYing
Love this!!! Albums would look awesome in the magazine rack.
I'm wondering as you say you try to be sustainable, where do you put the cut off plastic like the sawdust " mirco plastic"
I absolutely love Rachel, you are so sweet, beautiful and talented!!!💛
All of the pieces are sooooo cool and inspiring 💫
It is so nice to see your approach on acrylics. I would have made spice rack.
