Time for another episode of That Cost's How Muuuchhhh?? We've been seeing a lot of trendy decor all over TikTok, Pinterest and UA-cam recently.
The West Elm Solstice Line has this beautiful table that ranges from $600 to $800 online, depending on the size of it. They also have a taller entry way table that is $700, so I decided I wanted to make a hybrid of all of these to fit at the end of my bed! I am also remaking this Ferm Living Pond Mirror that retails for $469, which personally is a bit too much to spend on a mirror of this size!

This is one of my favorite “that costs how much?!?” Seriously! These projects came out so so good! Becky, you have an amazing way of making me feel like I could probably make these too! 💪🏼🤩
I have been a Sorry Fan for years now, and I rarely comment, but I just have to say that your craftsmanship as well as the quality of your videos increases every single year. You constantly outdo yourselves and it's amazing to see how far you guys have come, especially with the things that you are able to now create which are all of store bought quality. Bravo ladies ✨✨
The technique you used for the curves was so interesting! Worked really well
Right it was such a smart idea
It's called Kerf bending! Such a cool process.
It looks so cool, I kind of wanted the whole thing to just be about that! So pretty!
Ok hear me out- this bench reminds me of one of the sinks in the Sims 4, and now I'm thinking of how good a series where you DIY Sims furniture items would be
This would be hysterical and actually so fun to watch
Bumping
omg this needs more likes!!
That would be amazing
Yes!!!
For the record- the wood bending, "cutting not-quite-all-the-way through", technique is called Kerf Cutting.
Super cute- both projects! 😊
This series is just so perfect for Becky, she has that expensive/high-end touch. Best episode yet!
I honestly preferred the wood vibes of the bench pre-wallpaper (maybe painting it to make it all consistent?) but you nailed the dupe aspect of the recreation. The mirror is stunning!
I really liked the wallpaper 😍
I would’ve preferred actual fabric, I don’t think it would be much more expensive than the wallpaper suggested by her, the bench is not that big
I think a thick chalky texture might have elevated it more, not a fan of the shiny finish it had in the end.
@@gabrielleoana1092 same, maybe even thrifting a linen tablecloth etc would keep the price down
You forgot to mention that when you are making your cuts to get the wood to bend, you have to cut WITH the grain or else it won't work.
It’s a good day when it’s a sorrygirls day 🤩
I love that you were so honest about the pricing and included pricing the other objects and tools used.
I never would have known how to make the curved ends. I'm impressed. And I LOVE your brown sweater.
I am SO impressed by that bench, well done Becky and co!!
Liking the video the second it’s posted before even watching it because TSG is it’s own quality control >>
I've been wanting to DIY an arch mirror from a huge rectangular one I've had for months! Thanks for the tips!
Very brave Becky cutting that mirror. It really makes a difference using the right equipment and know how. When my hubby tried all we got was the seven years bad luck.
You guys have totally been killing it with the quality. Putting out absolute BANGERS. I want more 😭
What we actually need is a video tutorial on how Becky makes these designer-inspired master-level projects looks so completely effortless! ❤️
Oh wow, I didn’t know that’s how you get wood to bend so smoothly. Very well done!
The bench is next level skills. Impressed doesn't even come close to describing how I feel. I like how each step/task was broken down into manageable peices because I certainly felt overwhelmed. The mirror...speechless. ❤
I believe that the pistol grip glass cutter has a place for you to put the oil inside it. The bottom gold "button" should open and you can add oil inside the tool. Then when you apply pressure the oil can seep out through the scoring portion helping lubricate the tool to score the glass better. My grandfather used to make stained glass windows for various churches my the area. I helped him out a lot with his work and he had an older version of this tool, could be different but it looks the same.
that’s right - i use the same kind for stained glass, and the oil goes in the handle. makes the cuts a lot easier, so you’re not fighting the curves as much.
I’m going to try and help my gen z coworker make the tile table bc she just got a new apartment, I’m excited to try your techniques!
Maybe add the hours as well, including time of sourcing materials. Time is money. I feel like a lot of people don't realize how much it cost to make something. If you look at it from the side of the maker handmade things are usually incredibly cheap too cheap. They should earn more money. But the average person doesn't realize how little the person who made it earns.
Seconding this.
That cost how much is definitely my favorite ! Those two pieces are unique and worth DIYing, I’ll make the same mirror but I’ll make it rusty/old looking like Kelsey’s DIY
loveee that idea
That tip for the curve of the bench was awesome - thanks for the education! I always wondered how to do that!
I really appreciate you factoring in the price of the “scrap” wood for the mirror - I haven’t done a ton of DIY yet, and I hate when things are advertised as one price but then depend on me already having materials!
Woooooow I am sooooo impressed by the tip on how to curve the wood... Super clever tip.
Sara Nena DIY
Omg!!!!!! I’ve been looking at both of these pieces and have not been able to pull a trigger for the price. I am soooooo making these. Thank you !
My favourite one of these ever. The quality and skill and outcome was all *chefs kiss*
Becky’s diys have been on another level lately! Great job 👏🌟
Given the price of lumber these days; I'd LOVE to see a video series where you upcycle used building supplies!
Like go around the city/Facebook marketplace/etc and find building supplies people are throwing in the trash, and make stuff from it!
Loved these DIYs as someone who is both an amateur woodworker AND beginner stained glass artist!
Commenting because I have a few tips that I thought could help you with any future glass/mirror cutting projects. The handle of the glass cutting tool you were using should actually twist open at the end and hold oil, so you don’t have to apply it to the tip externally. I would also look into alternative ways to grip your scorer, the way you held it works but is more tiring than other options. Also, I was taught to push more forward than down as it gives you more control and is easier on your arms.
Also for anyone looking to start out, try not to backtrack or pick up the tool mid-score, it exponentially increases the chances of your piece breaking in the wrong direction. Also the pencil trick works for simple, large cuts but they sell clamps and pliers that would work better for most applications.
Love the channel and the video!!
Thr old Future Shop converted into a Value Village really gets me
The glass cutter is made to hold the oil inside the handle. Both projects came out great! Impressive curves 😉
Also PSA, be careful with long hair and power tools. I saw a nasty incident with a drill and long hair, not fun.
I also wanted to comment on the hair. It's strange to me that they all wear safety glasses but they don't tie thier hair up. 😞
Aesthetics over safety.
So many people have mentioned the safety for so long, it appears to be the only long-standing critique, and they just don't seem to care!
@@waterbitten and floppy sweaters and long sleeves
@@UntetheredBanshee right?! Those dangling sweater arms made me nervous!!
Becky, you’re so great at this! And your commitment to reusing and creating things as sustainably as possible really means a lot to me. These items were so chic and I feel totally empowered to break out the glass cutter again 💕
This is by far one of my favorites DIY that Becky made. The top on my list is the book table.
That was the best DIY ever! That bench may be my favourite!
You should all have a consultant wood shop open - providing consulting services for people who want to make custom furniture for affordable prices.
Becky, you knocked it out of the ball park this time! Both came out amazing.
glad to see becky wearing a mask at the store! i know the "mandate" has been lifted (prematurely imo), but it doesnt hurt to have that added bit of protection for yourself and others. yay!
wow, I couldn't imagine how you would do that bench, but you NAILED IT!
I'd love it if you included time spent making the project too - it would be interesting to know since part of the cost of the product bought from a store is labour costs!
this is such a good point!
I was just looking for something to watch! Perfect timing! Love you guys!
here to bless your feed
The snug and perfect fit of the flat rectangular wood pieces after the curved pieces was so satisfying! Such a great project!
Love seeing you work out how to do these things for yourself.
I was shocked to see how expensive a dog kennel with even just a nice wooden table top can be. I had to settle for an ugly wire sided kennel for my dog because the prettier wood sided ones that better match my decor are just too expensive. As pet lovers yourselves, I think it would be cool to do a pet themed "That costs how much?" :)
I love love love this series!!! The mirror looks amazing 😍
I am so thankful for this series, since it shows a lot of trendy decor I am not aware of.
I love that bench!!! I am going to look for something similar for my bedroom. 😊
Great job, good reason to pick up wallpaper at the thrift whenever you see it!
The mirror was quite impressive. Didn't think it would be that easy to make! I don't like the proportions on your table, but the cuts in the wood to bend it is really clever! Best wishes from Switzerland ♥
Becky I loved these projects! I thought they would be a huge challenge but you made it look easy as always 😉
This is easily the best episode of this series! Incredible, Becky!
Both projects looks so good. Your diys really improved i love it.
Becky's outfit game especially on point today!!!!!
Great job, Becky! You definitely outdid yourself this time as both turned out amazing and nearly identical to the inspiration pieces. 👏
These items are so amazing and high end!!! You're really growing so much!!!
The level of craftswomanship on that bench! The angles are really impressive
Both items where AMAZING!! I didn't expect the bench to love look SO GOOD!! 💞💞
Another great video! I like how the items become more and more interesting! I loved the mirror!
I'm currently drooling over spring/summer fashion, and hating brands that are not size inclusive. I am personally into spending more for the quality but the sizing is a must!
I liked the bench. It looked really nice. And you could change the type fabric/wallpaper you use to match more with your style.
You can fill the glass cutter handle with oil and it’ll self oil while you’re cutting.
For the paper you could use a canvas tarp that homedepot sells in the paint section. It's cream canvas and has a plastic lining on the back and it's pretty cheap. (I work in the paint department, we have fun here) (and the smallest is 5x5 and $10.
That curving technique on the bench blew my mind! So good
Would love to see a take on the Mociun bread lamps, they're so funky and cool, but way too expensive to spend on a novelty item
This was incredible. Both of these DIYs were off the chain.
Wow! that bench turned out so great .nice job
I really was looking for a mirror like that. Thank you for the dyi instructions!
Both look so good!!
Those mustard NF slippers are a real Canadian gem I just didn't think I'd see in this video. Nice!
You can also buy bendy wood that molds to round shapes. It can be thinner for more decorative pieces or thick and structurally sound for sturdier pieces, often times used for cabinetry around tubs, bars, etc 💛
becky u are my favorite!! i love how these projects came out!! queen
woow Becky what an amazing job! Loved your outfits too! that motorbike vest suits you so well!!
Just love where y'all are taking the channel and I'm all here for it! Every video lately has just been beautifully edited, presented, and crafted. Also, my stressed out grad school self is learning so much without draining my brain in research papers and increasing tuition billing: thankyouthankyouthankyou.
Love both of these! Thanks so much for this video!
Both projects nailed. Well done, Becky!
I LOVE that you all have so many ways to style your DIYs in your office.
Wow! I am so impressed with both projects!! So high end!
This series along with the how to series are timeless classics. The bench was very impressive
I love both of these items. Good job.
Becky....ABSOLUTELY love love loved your outfits ❤
You hit these out of the park!! I'm lusting after the table.
Brava, Becky! I’ve been so impressed with your last two episodes in this series.
Great job Becky!! Love the Bench!
Looks good Becky.. Like them all.. & Yes, enjoy these DYI's
Loved them both so so much!
OMG! You’re so good at building things!
So nice! I wouldn’t do it myself but it looks amazing! Amazing job Becky!
Girllllll, you did that! So awesome!!!
I really like the bench. U did a great job as usual❤️
Both look great! Would have gone matte vs shellac if using as a bench as you said. Cut down on the noticeability of any weirdness on the curves. Great job!
That bench is awesome! Love it!!!!
Wow these DIY'S are amazing!!! Beautiful job Becky!! Love love love all The Sorry Girls DIY videos!!! And Canadian youtuber's 🇨🇦 is another amazing plus for me all your videos are very entertaining and never boring keep doing amazing work Girls 💖💖
