Agents, the next hostage we’ve managed to track down, is Mel Arnold.
As a professional writer, it’s unclear what Natalya wants with him.
But he has been spotted in the Foggy Bottom District of Washington DC.
Agents, get him back.

I like how Johnson’s tone on the opening Roosevelt line shows disdain for Manny, but if he stepped down, I wouldn’t have a punching bag.
pfff. Manny is just fine!
I swear, I HATE almost every single civvie we’ve been rescuing. So many are just whiny brats who talk and talk and talk and say “oh woe is me why can’t you, manny, put yourself in my shoes?!?!” when they themselves never put themselves in his. The bigger picture should absolutely take priority here, and the fact that they don’t understand it yet is genuinely fucking insane. I hope we’ll go back to the way things used to be, where we’d hunt down sub-targets. A lot of them had a way more compelling character and story behind them. Every single civilian rescued since last season put together aren’t even half as good as Major Castillo from Season 9. His character was SO good, and explored a point of view that was genuinely realistic and made you feel for him, it made you ask yourself “do I REALLY have to kill him?”, when all these civilians have been doing is yelling at Manny to go rescue their pet hamster. Like, come on people. Sorry for the rant, I just loved how they were doing the seasonal manhunt’s story since Season 9 and I feel like the last two have been an ENORMOUS downgrade.
I'm in complete agreement. These weaklings are a pain in the ass. We've got Black Tusk and Hunters to deal with, I don't need their sob stories. They think THIS is bad? Our Agent goes through this shit on an easy day.
I totally agree with you. I hate the civilians that are so petty and mean to Manny, when he just trying to his effing job. He's the only one who sees the big picture see Natalia for what she is (a manipulator) and they're being mean to him. I don't get it. Also, come on, Manny loves Mari (as stated). Does she love him? I don't buy it for one second. I think they should find another factor for Manny to step out cause I don't buy this romance bullshit.
Its very weird and cringe too. Like the Black Tusk never existed until now, "rescuing" civilians. I'm open for a change in manhunt formula but the dialog and narrative behind each target is trash. The comms aren't even worth it.
I feel like Manny has the potential to be a good commander but he keeps getting wrapped up the big picture and loses sight of why he’s fighting.
His paranoia and Mari’s kidnapping nearly made him give up the White House but maybe with Mel and Mari around they’ll force him to realize that no one would be better off with Nat in charge.
However if our favorite coma patient wakes up I am fully in favor of Schaeffer taking charge.
You really want to trust Schaefer, the same guy who ordered the assasination of the Vice president and then killed those assasins to tie up loose ends.
Division Coordinator Schaeffer has a nice ring to it
@@DjiuhTi Don't tease me like that.
No appreciation from hostages these days >:0
To be fair to Manny, he does keep reminding us that Pilot Torres is ready for transpo to Kenly College to help out, so it's not like he wasn't trying
😂🤣😂
@@NGNthink you could do wolves from ghost recon vs black tusk
Oh yeah, that's 1Million percent Brandon Keener voicing Mel. And I fell the fuck out of my chair laughing at Vik bitching via bullhorn. :D
Keener...keener...why do i know that na- ISAC? Wait...if its ISAC that would mean...Garrus? Makes sense, dont remeber which one of the ortiz pair it was (name wise) but they did provide ISAC his voice whilst the partner voiced ANNA...so if they were adding descent logs, makes sense if Keener was in the booth.
Yes, @@Bloodarcher43, that would indeed mean Garrus. :D When ISAC gets too mouthy in-game, I usually snap at him "Keep your fringe on, Vakarian! I'll get to it!"
Mel Arnold. At least we'd heard of Cindy McAllister before, and she'd guided us through the Cony Island missions. And Jack Arnold we meet briefly during the Kenly College experience. But this guy? He's basically the filler between Cindy and his wife, Jack.
I'm with you. I am getting pretty fed up with all the guilt trips that people are laying on Manny. The guy is supposed to be the Division coordinator for Washington DC. How can he NOT focus on the bigger picture? We know, from the Thomas Parrott books, that DC is the centre of a lot that is happening in the area. And, while there likely aren't hundreds of Division agents around, there are probably more than a handful working in the area. After all we, along with others, were summoned to DC by our watch when the SHD network went down. Even if some have now returned to their previous roles, others have to be somewhere nearby. Like the unseen Agent Johnson. "Meet us back at the Castle". Where the heck are you Johnson? I've never seen you. Even Manny doesn't know where you are. All I saw was farm boy Mel.
As you say, I continue to like the way the "manhunts" play out, but this target definitely felt like we were scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to targets. This is also weird. The implication was that Natalia was grabbing specific targets when they attacked the White House. Mel makes it seem much more like a snatch and grab. Grab Mari and you have leverage over Manny - although as he says if he disappears the agents aren't going away and they ultimately decide their own missions anyway. Cindy the drone operator I can kinda see, Vikram Malik for sure, but many of these others seem like they were just caught in the drag net. Yet at the same time the game wants us to believe that there was a purpose as Natalia seems to be using them for specific "hearts and minds" type scenarios with everyone she's taken. Or is she just making the best of who she managed to grab? Also, if it has only been days since they were taken, how they heck did these people get spread so far across DC and so deeply involved in projects? Mari was converting the aquarium at Manning Zoo into a fish farm. That isn't 2-3 days work. So the timeline here also isn't making a whole lot of sense.
But back to the guilt trips. I agree that Manny needs to step down. He's too connected to the people in DC and isn't considering the broader implications of what he's done. Natalia is operating across large parts of the country. We know, from the books, that BT is active in Michigan where they tried to snatch the cure for the green poison. But they're also in DC, and they're working with the Roamers. They're active at least in large parts of the Mid West and the Northeast. And we know her plans impact the country as a whole. Stopping Nat will take more than one Division coordinator in DC who is tasking what are essentially side missions. It will take a broader approach with cooperation across the country. So this whole "focus on the people not the broader picture" makes absolutely ZERO sense. Maybe it's not Manny, but the flaw in the Division is that, with agents choosing their own missions and acting largely independently, there is no broader organizational process. Just local JTF coordinators. So how does anything happen on a broader scale?
Parrott's book series does give us some idea as Brenda and team are taking on missions that are outside DC and have a broader impact. In West Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri, and down in Texas. But they don't say where the broader objectives are being set or who is setting them. Is it just individual agents talking to ISAC and then someone collating the data? There must be some sort of broader view, even if it is just a collaboration of a group of agents. Of course, what makes a good agent doesn't necessarily make for a good organizer. And when we know that Homeland Security uses ANNA and hence has insight into what ISAC is doing, what does that mean in terms of the plans that group has. Obviously they've been culling the heard as they likely have insight into the location of agents, but are they actively working against everything that is being planned through ISAC? Or are they feeding information into ISAC that will potentially trigger assignments that will further the agenda of Homeland Security and essentially Cal?
Anyway, a lot of rambling based on what we learned from this "manhunt". Which is, essentially, that we'd prefer it Mel had bought the farm, so to speak, at Roosevelt Island. 😆
Cheers, mate. Always love your content.
Thank you for the follow up email on this my friend.
Much like your comments before I was able to rescue this hostage, I completely agree with what you're saying here.
There are a lot of questions here, but the first one that needs to be answered, is why the Division is concerning themselves with these targets over the greater mission.
Surely this is just becoming a distraction at this point.
@@NGN And maybe that's the whole point. By focusing on these distractions, Manny isn't looking at what Natalia is really doing. And neither are we.
I know that it's uncommon for us to have a losing narrative, although the team pulled it off excellently in Season 11, but maybe we need some more of that for Manny to focus.
Ouroboros with striker is so much fun, I can't wait for golden bullet!!! Love these videos!
I need to grab one
With striker yes....but do 4 piece heart breaker with memnto Hunter killer....firewall spec
I too am looking forward to seeing what Vikram's comms are as well as finally finding out who the Recruiter is; because I'm guessing once we find out who that is, it will most def lead to knowing what the new DLC is gonna be revolved around.
I notice a lot of common things with these people being taken being mostly skilled with medical areas and farming areas. Mel Arnold and his wife are the head crop farmers for the Castle so they knows the most when it comes to crop farming. So far most of their information gathering from the kidnapped people are focused on medical knowledge and farming knowledge.
not alot of people are picking that up.
Always interesting how you make these lore videos, thanks!
I agree that Manny should step down. He's JTF, and has a family. He won't be able to handle that kind of stress.
And i am a little annoyed by Mel and Mari. We save their asses and they get to talk down on us? Maybe next time Jack gets kidnapped, they'll f-ing rescue her on their own.
But i do understand their position though.
This whole conflict seems to be between the SHD and Blacktusk and everyone just seems to be caught in the crossfire. No one knows who's in charge and no one knows why we're fighting.
Nat seems to be holding all the cards and slowly she picking out our people.
If she plans to turn the masses against us...... it's working.
If the Division can't protect them... they'll turn to the one who can. And with her army? She can do it.
Let's go! Love your content, being the major lore channel for the Division. Keep up the great work mate!
You don't trust Johnson's reappearance...? Mean, I kind of don't either. Johnson shows back up...but without Ward and Dunne in tow...? (or are they canonically gone and I missed a mention of them in a comm or cutscene some where?)
There is an Echo where Dunne and Corluka are being interviewed by a Journalist. The last official sighting of them was in photo of Dunne and the others doing a Countdown run in season 9.
Nope. I don't trust the fact that he has suddenly arrived after at this time.
@@shdghost8872 You sure about that? I am pretty sure Dunne got penned into the dead-book by Keener in the WONY launch trailer.
@@aq5426 Are you sure that was Dunne fighting Keener in that video and not some random agent? Didn't see no Crossbow on him. The photo for Season 9 shows him still alive, doing Countdown runs with Johnson and the others.
I feel like the people will pick Cal or Nat over the division and that's how the new regime will get in power.
Job well done man, thank you for all the hard work.
out there theory, either johnson is the recruiter or we capture the recruiter and is our new coordinator. i dont really want to kill the recruiter because he probably possesses a wealth of knowledge about mac and sokolova
And if Agent Johnson ISN'T the Recruiter, I'll eat my Eagle Bearer.
In the Descent comms, Johnson knows McManus along with Vivian Conley and the Ortizs. It's probably during that time that McManus recruited Johnson into the Hunters. If that's the case, what happened Caleb Dunne, Heather Ward, and Melissa Corluka who are known to travel with him?
@@shdghost8872 IIRC, Caleb Dunne got geeked by Aaron Keener in the WONY trailer after trying to facetank the Gang of Four at City Hall--which is a damned shame. Not sure about the others.
@@aq5426 Not quite. If you looked at the Photo for season 9, you see Dunne and the others are doing a Countdown run, well past WONY.
By the way the voice actor that did as Mel is the same one that did as ISAC cuss I noticed that Mel sounds exactly like ISAC
W vid 💯🔥
Congratulations for getting the Ouroboros, i still need to get it. Good thing that now people is getting better at the incursion and clear it with randoms is viable
Big W
I'm sure NGN will cover this when he does them, but based on the most recent Descent comms, Mel and Jack Arnold sound like they could be the Ortiz founders in disguise...
I think in my opinion Manny does need to step down as the all-over coordinator but I think if he was to do that I think that someone that would take his place they would need to make sure that it would be someone that can be trusted to take his place and someone that can ensure that the division would be good hands to take his place so that way the division would be ran the way that the division needs to be ran
Quite frankly it doesn't matter how morally correct it would be to send support to the missing JTF squad since even damn common sense and the "bigger picture" would support that decision. They had 3 tankers, around two dozen RUNNING vehicles including armored vehicles and a squad of JTF who most likely were veterans at that point let alone tons of critical supplies with them. But no, they must have gone rogue since we lost contact with them and therefore Manny aka the highest "ranking" CO currently alive won't send anyone to check up on them. Completely idiocy on Manny's part...
Give some credit to Manny.
He sent more JTF after the convoy and after they also lost contact he sent agents.
The real Issue is that he lost the convoy in the first place, I mean that’s not an unsubstantial amount of equipment.
@@jack727dave5 I remember him just stating that Proteus probably defected/went rogue and that's why he didn't send anyone there until he sent us the agents?
Sounds like a bunch of selfish, annoying people guilt tripping Manny. As a coordinator his job is the big picture.
They definitely recycle voice actors , most likely to save money but Mel sounds like that creepy manhunt Black Tusk guy and Johnson sounds like The big dude from NY not Paul
manny needs a break
'I'm just a... 'Farmer' now.' - Is Mel the recruiter?
Manny is the recruiter
I'll believe it when I c it
I’m new to the game. Thanks for the content! By the way what weapon is that your using?
My least favorite civie to rescue, literally male version of Karen. Like jeez he couldn't give Manny a break from all the stress
I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I wish we had just left him there!
@@NGN I do get where he coming from and yet couldn't be atleast positively supportive of Manny
@@Osmo-7777 Yeah--Mel strikes me as a little high-strung and selfish. :/
@@NGNa friendly fire can happen on the battlefield. No mayor lost then...
(Edited because autocorrect sucks.) Agreed with all. You'd think Mel would be less of an a-hole after Manny apologized and surprised him by bringing out his rescued wife.
I know Manny has been stressed out and maybe I got used to hearing him from all the earlier missions, but could they stop guilt tripping him? Poor guy started this whole season holding the dog of the bro he was still grieving - give him a break!
Ubisoft just solidly ignoring the player's account in situations frfr
Is Mel Arnold the same voice for Alexander Ortiz? It sounds Crazy Familiar to me
Can we just talk about how Mel is just handing Manny his ass.... He has like no tolerance for Manny's whining and I'm here for it!!!!
Let me guess--you're also one of those Mass Effect fans that hates Kaidan because "he's boring and whiny", right?
@@aq5426your attempt to try and be snarky is a complete fail because I don't play Mass Effect but, have a really nice day.
Oh yeah that obvious conspiracy certainly isn't there Manny duh.
with civs like this I can see why there's so many rogues out there
Hey man, love your videos. Quick question do you know why the different fractions and division one teamed up in the north and south pier of the map and nowhere else?
When I went to the taxi graveyard there was a black tusk portal and normally I'd let them fight but they weren't attacking each other there were all shooting at me it reminded me of div 1 resistance should ubi add resistance back in div 2? Yes✅ or no❌
But truthfully I do agree that man he needs to step down because I think that it's too much for him because now that he has a family and I think that since it has led to where he is planning to have a family with his girl now I think that now that should be a focus and and now that he's got the settlements and everything I think now that that's where maybe his focus should be
You have to ask why do we need Mel to me? It seems like he’s going to be a propaganda writer.
My wife thinks Mel & Mari are Plants. And not the healthy kind.
Mel Arnold is so annoying... He thinks that his life and his situations are the most important all the time.
I hate Mel to be honest. All he does is complain. His whole don't on conspiracies that aren't there bugs me. Dude, the whole thing is a conspiracy. You can't ignore the Black Tusk and rogue agents running around. Yeah your wife went missing. Yes she's valuable, but she's not my top priority. There are more things at stake than you being lonely.
