Ladies and Gentleman that wasn’t just a cover that was a reincarnation of Johnny Cash singing this live, this song you touched perfectly we never got Johnny Cash Hurt Live but this is as perfect as we will ever get and a perfect toast of whiskey to the man in black, G will be proud
Wow. I am obsessed with Johnny Cash You sound so much like him, I had people telling me I was listening to him and had to prove I wasn't. This is so refreshing means there is still lots of hope for country music. I'm not saying country is bad but as George Jones asked who's gonna fill their shoes and well. We now know about the man in black. I am now also a huge fan of you. Thank you so much ❤
@@grantprice9768thank you, random intetnet stranger, for setting us all straight. We were firm believers in reincarnation, but your comment sure showed us!
My mom loved this song the most. I asked the cemetery workers to play on the loudspeaker while I sent her off to the next world. In small willage in Eastern Europe, most of the people who came with me heard it for the first time and cried like never before. They didn't understand a word. Afterwards, a woman timidly asked me who was singing it. I gave them the link. Later I heard that they were looking for someone to translate from English. When I heard your voice, which is so familiar, you brought back my memories. Thank you.
Absolutely and on the next wheel if the cards line up just right within the next generation or two they all will be back. I think they had it figured out not only the music. They will back again and again. It's just sad how these controllers reset us to have to figure it out again and again. some great music keep up the good work and it really hits my heart
Holy shit! Does he ever sound like Johnny!! I almost choked when he started singing! Incredible! Johnny is in his grandson! This filled me with so much emotion, I have tears in my eyes. And Justin playing, it doesn't get any better. This is my first time hearing/seeing John Carter Cash. Thanks for this guys ❤
Hurt is a confessional song. You can see the points of pain when singing certain lyrics. It's most hurtful when people go away. Music is the best medicine
how in the fk is this guy not a huge star already? Seriously the amount of shite out there and this guys raw raw talent... bonkers... loved it Thomas. Loved loved loved it - congrats.
Breathtaking. I didn't think it was possible for anyone to do this song like Johnny Cash, with such emotion in the words. Thomas, you truly gave honor to this song. Thank you.. also much positive strength for you to conquer all the days struggles. Peace.
god bless ya thomas your grandfather's looking down on you saying "i am extremely proud of you" i can feel your emotions and your holding it back while singing like that was amazing it brought tears to my eyes there's a saying called like a teardrop to a stone and thomas start singing more of your grandfather's songs you exactly look and sound like your grandad johnny fair play to ya thomas keep on doing what your doing and in my feeling you should be the king of country music your a legend hope you can read this. lots of love to you and your beautiful family and god bless ya's❤ from ireland ☘
No-one ever dies if they have children, a small but significant part passes through to the next generation, part of you remains. The music lives on. I know Ashley Campbell as she visited me whilst i was recording at Abbey Road. She has all of her dad's skills and more!!!
I played this song on guitar at my grandfather, best friend & mentor's funeral in 2015! I owe him what and who I am, it is thanks to him that I am still in this world. My grandfather was also stationed in Landsberg at the end of World War II! I don't know if he knew Johnny Cash, but he loved his music at least as much as I did. Thank you for all the beautiful memories, dreams and courage that these great songs have brought about... I hope to enjoy them someday and see you dear Thomas live at a concert in Germany! greetings from Germany
My son uae to sing this to me after Johnny recorded it. So much emotion in these words. I lost him 2 yrs ago. The Hurt is real. I love your voice Thomas!!! Keep being real just as the man in black did. You are a true treasure and a legend of your own. God bless
My Granddaughter Cait Cries Every time Johnny Cash sang this she was a little girl at the time she's 26 now and it still makes her cry 😢 Wonderful tribute to Johnny Cash your amazing 💜🙏💜
I'm 36 I grew up listening to Johnny and other country legends and greats and I get goose bumps everytime I hear you voice keep it up love this completely
I'm only 30 years old, but I grew up with your grandfather's music. I remember how bad I wanted to meet him when I was a child, then I found out he had passed away and I just cried. First song of his I ever heard was Folsom Prison Blues and I remember jumping on the couch playing the song over and over again. You sound so much like your grandpa, and I envy you for that. He is the reason I am a musician today. Thank you, Thomas.
You sound so much like your grandfather. This is so crazy. His voice was truly passed onto you man. You have the bass, the raspy tone, the bite in your voice. He is singing through you tenfold
Awesome!! Your Grandpa would be Proud! My Dad Loved your Grandpa. He listened to him all the time. Daddy died in 2000! Miss him! But memories are back now, glad I found you!!
Bevor i started the video i closed my eyes and lisened................I'm a hughed fan of Johnny Cash, your voice is exactly the same, so i'm a big fan of yours
I remember the first time I heard this song for the first time by your grandfather. I'm 54 years old and when I was younger, I used to burn myself. At the time I didn't know why, only that it made me feel better. I've since gotten older and went through counseling, and found out why. The first time I heard your grandfather sing the first verse, I broke down. It was my life. You sir, gave me chills! You received your families talent. . Sorry for the long comment, but thank you for sharing your amazing gift with the world.
This has always been one of my favorite Johnny Cash songs because it helped me during tough times. And hearing it from this man who sounds so much like his grandfather and has a gift with his voice at singing it honestly made me cry tears of joy which is rare for me.
Thomas , you my friend are the NEW VOICE of the almost forgotten OUTLAW COUNTRY . Your grandpa is grinning ear to ear watching you re invent this song .
My wife shared Folsom Prison Blues with me this evening and i have gone down the rabbit hole…simply amazing! Can’t wait to keep running through the tunnels! Keep it up!
In God's name, why are you not all over the charts? You truly have the gift passed down from J.R. himself. This is still Johnny Cash's song (after he inherited it from Reznor) & not one that ought to be played a great many times BUT it still hits soooo deep down just like anybody singing & truly "getting" it. From the UK, thank you brother. Much love to you & the boys.
We all wish we could make our family as proud as we know Johnny is. Pleaseeee continue with music. Consider me a new lifelong fan! Johnny is my all time favorite artist and you give me chills! Sooo much talent!
How much Thomas Gabriel sounds just like his grandpa Johnny Cash is haunting! This proves that the ability to sing like that is not only hereditary, but it skips a generation. Perfect example of this is look at the Hank Williams generations. Hank Williams III sounds and looks like Hank Williams Senior. Hank Williams IV looks and sounds like Hank Williams Jr. But he can also yodel and sounds like Hank Williams Senior. Hank Williams Jr. Would look and sound like his grandpa, if we knew him, and heard him sing. This worked for the Johnny Cash generations, and it also worked for the Waylon Jennings generations. Very very fascinating stuff for sure!
Me mam passed away a couple of weeks ago...saw your Grandad a couple of times always here favourite. Playing him at her funeral next week. Thankyou for the memories my man
Johnny Cash took this song to another level and gave it a unique emotion. I never thought I would hear anything close to it again but that was special....very special.
I saw NIN in the 90’s, and thought this song was the highlight of their show. Then some years later, Johnny’s version (both in song and video) brought true pain and emotion to it. I can still get goosebumps listening to Johnny’s version and tears well up watching that vid. And now? Thomas your simple version brings that same powerful emotion your grandfather did. And brings the same goosebumps. Well done.
One comment ,WOW . Johhny lives on in you guys . Dad always played his songs on a cassette in the car when we used to go fishing many moons ago . J C would be so proud .
I learned about Johnny Cash when I was in 4th grade and he has been my favorite human ever since. I wrote a paper about him for school in 6th grade and another time in 10th grade. His songs were the first I learned on guitar and the only ones that I can sing and play at the same time. I'm now going on 29 and I still listen to Johnny religiously. I love johnny and I appreciate you for keeping his voice going.
