The Dawn Will Come lyrics
-----------------------------------------------
Shadows fall, and hope has fled
Steel your heart, the dawn will come
The night is long, and the path is dark
Look to the sky, for one day soon
The dawn will come
The shepherd's lost, and his home is far
Keep to the stars, the dawn will come
The night is long, and the path is dark
Look to the sky, for one day soon
The dawn will come
Bare your blade, and raise it high
Stand your ground, the dawn will come
The night is long, and the path is dark
Look to the sky, for one day soon
The dawn will come

Hey everyone, I was the Cinematic Designer at BioWare responsible for the presentation of this scene. I just wanted to say how much your comments and feelings towards this scene are not only humbling and awe-inspiring, but also incredibly relieving. For months after this scene was completed I was stressed and worried that the scene was going to fall flat, was too corny, or just was not going to hit the mark. Hearing all of you say the opposite is truly comforting, and I am grateful for that.
Hi, Richard! We really enjoyed this scene from the bottom of our hearts. It was presented so beautifully! Dragon Age Inquisition's awesomeness wouldn't have been possible without you and everyone else at BioWare. Thanks for all the blood and sweat you guys poured into this game! :)
Great scene Richard.
Richard - I've been gaming since before Sephiroth killed Aerith and this scene was perfectly executed. You hit all the right notes in just the right order and I've replayed it more times than I'd like to admit.
This scene, plus the arrival at Skyhold and being made Inquisitor scenes took DA: Inquisition from a [very] good game to a truly great one. I was already talking up this game as I'd been playing it, but now that I've been through this I'm truly singing its praises.
Well done.
This is an absolutely fantastic scene. It made me fall in love with the game.
Anthony Cika Phenomenal!
i love how cullen is like "are we fucking seriously doing thi- AAAAND THE PAAATH IS DAAAARK"
Haha, he does have that expression, doesn't he?
Lol! Your comment made me laugh! xD
Oh my god. True hahaha :')
Hahahah here's my like, good sir.
This comment is funny even 2 years later XD
This is where the game truly started.
It true doe
but the opening section is still so good
though the story falls abit flat after this point in my opinion but yeah, it was a really good first chapter
@@neojackwastaken lol no

Damn Cullen can really sing.
He should have more sing time haha
Everyone: sings nice and soft
Opera singer chad Cullen: Hold my beer.
he is the perfect man in all aspects lol
@@Baliturbina Maybe, if it was written by Disney.
He is a templar at heart. This just made his gregorian chant instinct kick in
"Master Corypheus, we have located Haven's survivors"
"Good. How did you do that?"
"They are all singing"
"Seriously? That's incredibly stupid if they're trying to hide from us."
"But are they all on key?"
Yes
"shall we strike while they are distracted singing?"
"Hmmm... No. I want to hear this"
*later*
"Ok, they are done. Shall we...?"
*looks at corypheus. He's crying*
"...shit...That was... Oh, man... I need to call my mother and tell her i love her!"

+ZackRToler This was my favorite moment
ZackRToler me too!!!
did anyone get totally and completely lost in immersion the first time u herd this song for the first time playing the game.
Yes, I started singing along
I had goosebumps and was like "but, but... they love me :3"
I've done over a dozen playthroughs of Inquisition and this part still gets me all choked up. Every. Single. Time.
No...i was just mad my companins werent in it
It gave me literal goosebumps
This is when the prologue ended and the true game began. Best transition I’ve seen in any story . True masterpiece of a moment.
This scene is a lot more meaningful if you're playing a character which normally would never be revered by humans like a qunari or an elf.
Luiz Antonio or a dwarf
Kat Welham To some extent yes but dwarves aren't outright oppressed (like elves) or hated (like Qunari).
***** Well, quite. Now imagine this scene as an elven of Qunari mage.
GriffinPilgrim dude especially with my qunari, who was just trying to get by, and somehow got tons of shit for it.
Peyton Martin Indeed. Elves are seen as lesser and Dwarves are expected to stay in their place and mages are feared for their potential danger but the Qunari are seen as the enemy. Even those like the Inquisitor, who aren't actually Qunari,
leliana okay i'll just sing nice and softly..
people: yeah, nice and sfot, very enjoyable..
cullen: -AND THE PATH IS DARK
Don’t think I’ve ever laughed more at a comment than this one😅
i died hahaha he was so passionate
Sadly you can't fuck Leliana in this 1.
Correction: make sweet passionate love
i mean Leliana is the bard here... but yes xD
The moment i knew my social life went to shit.
+Slavic Power (Слава Сербии-Слава России) Totally worth it, eh?
ReinaDCD
You're goddamn right. :D
Really? This was the moment? I'd argue that when Corypheous finally reveals himself and attacks your stronghold is the moment you know your social life is over with.. "I once breached the fade in the name of another, to serve the old God.... I found only chaos and dead whispers... For 1000 years I was confused, no more"
Well, that was a pretty powerful scene as well. I feel bad for Cory sometimes. Basically, the purpose of his existence is a lie. :/
I loved this scene.
The only thing it's missing is a shot of Corypheus, looking down on them from a cliff, writhing his hands and pacing, going
"They sing without ribbons! They sing without tags!
"They sing without packages, boxes or bags!"
Hahaha, that's a good one!
I was totally thinking that same thing when making the scene. "And what happened in Who-ville that day?..."
Oh Maker, that's perfect...
"I must stop the inquisition from coming!"
And The Elder One's small heart grew three sizes that day.
Cullen's singing voice is outrageously beautiful, i demand an explanation for the feelings i am feeling.
Agreed. He has a really beautiful voice!
What made me sad was how very little you hear of it.
I would LOVE to hear a separate track of just Cullen singing the whole thing, lol.
BaronVonHoovy IKR, we all heard it for a grand total of 4 seconds only. Just leaves us wanting more. >:( Leliana sounds awesome too. The best part is that it sounds like both of the VA's are singing themselves cuz that's how they sound like when they talk.
I want to know who did his voice
ReinaDCD i can hear it all song.
"Faith is made stronger by doubt. Untested, it is nothing."-
Mother Giselle should have been up for Divine.
there shoulda been an option to refuse to choose a Divine and let the Chantry fall
@@GenericUsername-qp1ww that would cause so much chaos.
@@blakechandler167 only for those who follow the Chantry but fuck em anyway. The other races wouldnt give a shit, hell, the Dalish elves would probably thank the Inquisitor for doing such a thing. The Chantry is nothing more than a tyrannical murderous cult.
@@GenericUsername-qp1ww It's one of the major powers of the DA world. It can even deny laws rulers create it's so powerful
@@blakechandler167 thats exactly the problem with the Chantry. It has too much power and influence than it should. If u asked for the Circle to become independent at the end of Origins if u played as a mage then the Chantry doesn't allow it, even if King Alistair or Queen Anora ordered it! the Chantry doesn't allow the person who saved their ungrateful asses the reward that he/she wanted all becuz they have their heads shoved so far up their own asses they can smell their own shit. The fact the Chantry has more power than the ruler of Fereldan is disgusting.
Hell even Solas who is basically an ancient god, was impressed.
He is not acient god he is just really powerful elven mage just like the elven "gods"
@@darthportus Solas is literally the Dread Wolf, the reason why the world is what it is... He's definitely ancient.
I don’t know, I read more "contempt" from him, like that song somehow offended him.
@@anarky1765 It was more like "Huh.... i didn't know they had that in them." You see after waking up, for the most part he thought of humans more like the tranquil, not truly conscious, not truly free-willed. But seeing the way they came together, how they drew hope in that moment made him realize he had been wrong.
Disgusted-impressed,but impressed. I count that as a huge win for humanity haha
*Cullen joins the chanting crowd.*
/ The sound of clothes being thrown around can be heard. /
Were those my pants being thrown across camp? Why yes, yes it was.
***** DA companions have that effect on people.
Rowan Buchanan I do enjoy watching this video now and then, but since reading this post, I can no longer watch Cullen without visualising him closing his eyes while assorted pairs of panties and speedos cover his face as he sings.
I think I'm saying... thank you? :-D
Forserean I didn't even imagine it that way, but thank you XD. Now I can't unsee it.
Rowan Buchanan actually i think those clothes flying are Cullens from the game of wicked grace he loses later on :D
I didn't think I'd like Cullen, I had my sights on Sera, but Christ almighty-NO, MAKER'S BREATH he is so dorky and sweet and that little side smile he does makes punches me right in the chest lmao
I am not a terribly religious person, but I thought it was kind of nice for a game to actually show folks getting hope from their faith, rather than the usual "all the religious folks are evil evil hypocrites" line that is everywhere. And this in a game series that definitely does not shy away from showing the nastier side of fanaticism.
It is rather refreshing
I always say you can tell BioWare created great fictional religions because not even the hardcore fans want to practice any of them.
@@erraticonteuse Lets face it...
Most real life religions aren't good when it comes to fanatics.
But really. As someone who is particularly religious, it is refreshing to see fiction that doesn't stereotype all religion and religious persons as hypocritical, blind, and shallow. I like that they portray characters with genuine faith, but who also doubt and question; and characters who are flawed but still try to do the right thing.
@@muscularcatholicism no he's not singing because he's evil, a traitor, and is plotting to wipe out them all he doesn't belive in their cause. Your point is kinda misguided you just seem like someone who thinks less of people who follow amy religion. Just started playing this gem. I was like "this is an ok game."
then there was this scene...
I got goosebumps.
this is truly a masterpiece.
same
Everyone here talking about Cullen, and i still can't get over how amazing Leliana's Voice is
It kind of makes sense though, considering she's a bard and is known to sing. Cullen is a Templar and really has no business having such a good voice, hence it's more surprising
They ain't surprised she sings in dragon age origins. I have her song in my favorite songs list
She was a bard we all knew she could sing if you played the first game
I couldn't agree more on this!
I adore her❤
Her voice is gorgeous!
This is the moment in the game when I finally knew it was a good one, and that my fears before its coming out were wrong.
Glad to know that this changed your mind. I felt that things were a bit slow at first until I played In Hushed Whispers and In Your Heart Shall Burn. Then again, I kept getting sidetracked by all the side quests.
Learning who is the Elder One literally gave me goosebumps. I was NOT expecting that one. BioWare made a great job in hiding his identity, and it definitively turned the game epic.
I'm taking things slow, and cannot wait to see Empress Celene next.
Nicolas Dassonval Sadly, someone spoiled that for me before the game even came out just because they wanted to be an asshole.
I wouldn't have believed them except that it made so much sense.
Nicolas Dassonval Yeah, me too! I thought that the Elder One might have been the person who gave the Inquisitor the power of the Fade (this person is believed to be Andraste herself by some people in the game).
BaronVonHoovy Ouch, it really sucks to hear that someone spoiled it for you. :/ That's why I try to stay far, far away from Dragon Age's FB page so that I don't read the spoilers in the comments. When people post spoilers on my videos (spoiler for me since I haven't reached a certain part yet), I just.. can't reply to them till I'm done with the game, lol.
When they first started singing I was like "what is this high school musical?" by the end I was pumped and ready to hunt down that bastard for killing my Haven brothers! Great scene.
Which Haven brothers are you referring to?
I'm guessing the people who died in Haven when Corypheus attacked.
Brock McCullough I can't really remember their names, but I think I know who TheKillaShow is talking about!
ReinaDCD I meant generally anyone who died. I kinda got upset for those I couldnt save during the siege of Haven as well.
TheKillaShow Ah. Yes, that was pretty tragic!
I love the look on Solas's face. It's like he truly saw the beauty of these people for the first time.
I mean...he is the hidden bad guy the whole time. He was probably surprised to see such hope in such a bad time of despair
@@silentwatcher4883 Which isn't honestly true. Yes, the Dread Wolf is sorta the biggest problem but he did so out out of a mistake from what I could read from the story, and by the end had true regrets about it all and set off to try and sorta make it right, in his own way. Solas wasn't 'evil' but he wasn't 'good' either, but you can see on his face for even a split second he glimpsed the indomitable spirit of mortality and was glad for it.
Maybe he thought: "Ugh... Humans have met with such dangerous thing and dicided to sing and forget about hiding? they are really crazy, i knew it"
I like to think this is the moment he started questioning his resolve. Even if your character doesn't romance him, I think this is the first time he really saw the "good" in the people of this age
In the end he betrays everyone tho iirc ...
Challenge: try watching this without getting goosebumps.
+malli ulfs Failed...and again and again...

This scene caught me off guard. I felt as my Inquisitor did in that moment. Hopeless and defeated. Then those who I inspired lifted me back out of the snow and brushed me off. What an immersive scene. The Dawn Will Come.
My sadness just melted away and lifted my tattered spirits
I agree, this scene was so emotional that i felt like my inquisitior too
Jerome A Thanks for watching, Jerome!
I'm not the only who got goosebumps when Leliana started singing right? I mean.... right?
I did too. It sounded just like her AND it was beautiful!
ReinaDCD I think they actually had the character voice actors sing this time instead and it's great! They all sounded great! Even Cullen!
I feel you
Nyall Padre It's likely that Cullen's VA sang. He did do some singing in the past. Leliana actually sounds like it's her singing too! I mean, she sounds completely different from Leliana's Song in DAO, but this is pretty refreshing and it's nice because it suits her.
Isaac Oseguera Feels yo!
When Cullen started singing: 10/10
He is adorable
SPOILER(sort of...)
Solas' expression in this part makes sense after the trespasser dlc. He said he was wrong about his thinking that humans weren't even people. This must have been the moment he realized it.
I'm 3 years late but thank you for saying that. It 100% makes sense, and it's moments like these that define why he says he would "cherish the opportunity to be wrong *again*". He thought we were just a means to an end. But this was a critical point for him to realize that there's more than crudeness to humans. There's character. There's strength of heart. Solas (FenHarel) related to that (you could theorize his people in his time would've had similar events when fighting the evanuris). So the people who think he's looking on with confusion or disgust--quite the opposite. There's a solemn appreciation for the resilience on display here. And he realized he made a good choice in joining and supporting the inquisition and its leadership. Great catch bro, well done.
As an addendum, this is probably when he decided to lead them to skyhold. He was probably gonna do it out of necessity, but now he was doing it out of desire. Much like Theoden in Helms Deep, he was thinking "if this is their end...then I would have them make such an end so as to be remembered for ages..."
mysteriousssstranger He did it to help the Inquisition to “Build and grow”. You seem to say he “desired” to show them Skyhold in way pointing out that this is all almost what he had planned, that they inhabiting “Where the Sky once stood.” is supposed to feed his plans on reviving the glory of the Elves.
Not that I’m doubting you, I’m just saying the way you input “desire” doesn’t seem to fit.
Steel Bread His continuing to reason and realize is how I hope Dragon Age 4 ends. That in the final events, whatever leads to them, he is capable of being swayed into helping his people in a way Mythal would.
Tom Blantz I Hope so too. My Lavellan would be pretty sad if he died. Also I can’t think of any plausible way we could actually kill him.
Everyone seems to feel that Solas's reaction is one of a negative note? But I've always seen the slight smile as sign that he's appreciating the moment like he appreciates the things he sees in the fade, looking on and seeing the moment as a historian would.
I know right
After Trespasser I just feel like this is the first moment that made him think that people in that world were really people.
It's more of one of regret for what he did. I wont spoil anything
its completely negative he knows whats going on and what he did and that their singing is just bullshit
I don't think Solas understand how much the humans are stubborn, he think he will finish his job without problems, but humans will fight now matter what
This scene was honestly one of the most powerful moments I've ever experienced in gaming
play mgs the phantom pain. Your forced to do a terrible thing, not just a cut scene, you literally do it. it traumatized me.
it shows corruption
I love how they redeemed that asshole of a chancellor.
It's odd, I like Roderik even before because be was very forward on his beliefs. And even if he disagreed with the Inquisitor in the end he did his best to help them live, and even tried to fight the Venitori/Red Templar.
I felt very sorry for him. He looked for a scapegoat at all costs, but in the end he turned to be a very decent person. He won't be forgotten.
Franthony rodrick was a good man but he was simply terrified
I was actually sad when he died I thought I would hate the guy to his grave instead I was sad when he died.
The singing alongside the panned shot of Cole watching over Roderick's just-deceased body was very emotional. It was like Roderick heard one last bit of the Chant of Light before he passed on. It's one more visual that motivates the Inquisitor against Corypheus
This was always one of my favorite scenes throughout the whole game. I love it because everyone joins in, and honestly, who can't love it?
Agreed with you, 100%!

It's not the only one in this game
@@SakuraMinx Yeah, like the Krogan head on the wall during the quest "Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts" (I think that's what it was)
@Some1The4Got10 FYI, It is Shepard (Unless your referring to the actual animal.)
You know looking back on this scene, I now see what an impact it has on Solas/Fen’Harel.
Through the game he’s always had a narrow-minded view of mortals, but this moment shows him all these different people unifying for a greater cause. Solas’s view on these people starts to change, and if you stick with him as a friend or a lover, his view changes even more. While still want to destroy the Veil, you can get a version of Solas that is far more conflicted about the effect it would have on these people.
Can’t wait to have him as a villain in the next game!
Bioware does not hold back with villains, bioware proves power does not make a villain, their impact and effect is what makes them. The archdemon was the terror of raw rage and might, meredith was the scary nature of madness, and corypheus put fear in your heart with his intelligence and power, Solas will be the villain who pulls at your heart and finding yourself conflicted to fight.
The song was amazing.. But when Cullen joined in, I got goosebumps. When I first saw this scene on my first playthrough, I was almost in tears. This scene was so powerful, and it really gives each and every character a chance to show that the destruction of their home has made them incredibly sad, but also determined.
I’m still in tears, 4 times playing through this game
I know this is 2 years old, but I just finished this cutscene in my second playthrough as an elf, and this hit harder than my noble mage. This scene is still beautiful, and so is the song.
I just wanted to write nearly the exact same thing....nice. Thx^^
Mother Giselle is part penguin look how she walks, after this it was hard to stop laughing

It was this moment in the game when you realized.
If by some miracle you hadn't already.
That this was going to be a truly awesome story and a epic game to play. I have such hopes for the future of the Dragon Age series because of scenes like this.
Me too. Hearing this song for the first time reminded me of DAO's main theme and Leliana's Song!
How were you or anyone else supposed to know that DAI would end up as a good game ?
Yes from what it looks like now it seems pretty good but after the horrendous fiasco that was DA 2 doubts were high and vindicated.
cold berserk Because it doesn't have repeated and reversed maps unlike DA2. Every single place I've been to is unique (so far). There were quite a few epic scenes (like this one where Leliana, Cullen, and Haven sing), but I don't want to mention more for the sake of minimising spoilers.
I knew that DA2 didn't make the mark, but I believe it wasn't that terrible. After playing a solid 40 hours of DAI so far, I can honestly and safely say that they've made up for DA2 already.
ReinaDCD Bout 90 hours over the course of 2 characters here (neither complete) My only gripe is some of the mundane quests like "go here, do x 4 times", but those are mostly optional. Game is a bit buggy for me on the PS4, but mostly stable. My advice to anyone going in is to NOT spend 30+ hours in the Hinterlands doing everything like I did. Turns the game into a grind and it leaves out all the actually amazing main story content. Only explore the wilderness to get power/experience, and then continue on the main quest.
Epicloser10391 Wow, 90 hours! I've been doing the important quests only as well. Mainly Inner Circle quests and main storyline quests. Haven't really bothered too much with other side quests. I'll be a completionist in my second playthrough though. It's really time consuming and I would have lost patience with The Hinterlands eventually.
I spent a lot of money to buy this game.
I was really disappointed when I couldn't play it because somehow my CPU couldn't run it.
I saved up for three months for a new CPU and spent a ton of money on it. Finally was able to play it.
And then this moment. THIS.
It was so worth it ;-D
This scene is evidence that video games are in fact art.

Solas: these mf gonna get us all killed.
Nah, Solas be like "ho, they're singing about me"
This was the best moment in the game so far... It was perfect.
I said that even after all that happened I didn't believe that nothing of that was Maker's doing, that I had no divine intervention... Then they start to sing, and the people kneel before me, because for them I was The Herald of Andraste, and I was the only hope to them...
It was from this moment that even don't believing in the Maker, I say I'm Andraste's Chosen, because this gives hope to the people.
I cried when Leliana started singing.
ikr, me too, i gain disapproval from Cass, everytime i say "im not the herald of Andraste" but after this...im his Herald and i will bring justice in the name of Andraste
Yeah. It was heartening to know that so many people put so much trust and faith into the Herald of Andraste. I can feel all the pressure on my shoulders though! Welp, what do!
Exactly what happened to my stance on 'The Chosen One.. Harald Of Andraste' .. just wanted to see this again and no idea why.. i guess now i understand how truly powerful this moment was/is .. i have my views and the maker isn't part of it as i see it was Justinia that gave me/you the Anchor .. but after that moment its for the people that i believe what they believe me to be .. just hit skyhold and really loving this *SPOILER* .. Can't wait to kill Corypheous AGAIN!! The SOB!!
DizastrousChezzraa34 *SPOILERRRRRRRRRR*
I just killed Cory too. :D
DizastrousChezzraa34 Yeah, me too... And I'm creating a mage now.

Mario Roman I share the same feeling as you when this scene played out, Mario! The feels train and that the SGD90 was worth it, lol.
Mario Roman
This is followed afterward by the migration to Skyhold, followed by the Inquisition rallying it's forces. When I saw all three cinematic in one let's play video, I wanted to grab a sword and take on the Elder One too!
Nyrufa Yeah, smack his face in!
Mario Roman Me too. I was a quivering, near-weepy touched lump of humble after my people sang to me in our darkest hour. And they really do feel like *your* people, that's the amazing part.
1:28 when the trumpets kick it makes it all the more emotional. Best part of the song. Great scene.
I need a full version with the trumpets
@@rosespotionsJust got to the part for the first time and I 100% agree. I got goosebumps
This entire scene makes me cry so much, even now, years after playing the game. When Cullen starts singing, I break.
I absolutely loved this scene. It was one of the great moments of the game, it really stirred me the first time I saw it.
DHF F I almost cried the first time I saw this scene, and that's something no game before has ever done for me.
Shadow07Warrior1989 it really was incredibly moving. The whole first act of this game is brilliant.
I agree. I knew this game would be interesting at least from watching the E3 demos and such, but when I reached this pointing the story I was left to wonder what was going to happen to this now fractured and broken spirited group of survivors. And then this scene took place, and I was almost brought to tears by the sudden gathering of hope by all as they kneel before the Inquisitor displaying their faith and dedication to their cause despite the horrible losses they suffered. A very, very well written and well acted scene worthy of the highest praise.
I don't know why but every time i replay it to hear Cullen's part and it kills me every time. Their is something about his emotion that gave me chills. This scene was quite beautiful actually. I really really loved this scene so much. But again Cullen just really gets to me in this scene.
Me too, but the expression on his face at that point in time was quite amusing. So, there was an eerie good feeling from hearing his voice and, at the same time, I burst out laughing because of his funny expression.
ReinaDCD Yes I agree it is a little amusing lol, I actually have a screen shot of his expression on my phone haha. But he is showing some good emotion in this scene I think.
geedoo459 Yeah! :)
Cullen is the soldier, he is meant to be emotianlly cut off, strong for the men under his command, and free of weakness. It kills you because the moment he starts singing it shows the commander of the troops dropping that pretense and showing that those times have become so hard that even he needs that faith that there will be a tomorrow.
In a sense it shows him admitting that even he needs the strength of hope.
Whoami691 Ya I know what you mean. This scene is very touching on many levels. I have watched it probably way too many times haha, and Cullen's part is my favorite. And to see him dropping his defenses like that is a nice scene. I love all of the characters way too much!
I just love how they show Solas with an uncomfortable look. He’s just feeling so bad because he needs to destroy this world but in the meantime experience all those moments of hope that gives him second thoughts.
no I think it reminds him of how the elf turned into a god, with admiration for the power but also the corruption in it that will further twist the inqestion
@@dylanpyle6500 he doesn’t care about the power. Mythal was his friend. He cares about how people use it and we can’t say the inquisitor is a monster.
@@naviekd2409 inquisition, not inquisitor. No solos. It's implied multiple times that the people brought it on themselves. They divided the pie, and the strong got influenced by the weak they did unnecessary actions that led to damage and creation than necessary.
when I got to this part of the game I just cried like I don't know about you guys but I enjoyed my time in Haven and being with the villagers taking any quest they needed and exploring the snowy mountains..... losing Haven was horrible but I must admit I love Skyhold but Haven......... That was a great lost.
+Noelia Encarnacion I felt exactly the same. Haven was where everything started and then you had to destroy it like that. So sad. Skyhold is indeed awesome, but yeah kind of bittersweet
well, I had some tears, but I tried to keep my composure
I played Inquisition before the previous two, so I had no idea what kind of fucked up shit happened in Haven. Then playing through Origins and realizing Haven was a playable location, I was like ‘oh, nice’ and then that just slowly started turning to ‘oh god, what the fuck’
@@AshtonMonitor that’s what makes inquisition sad. Haven wasn’t just a village. It was a place where our Warden made a big difference in the world. The chantry took back a sacred site, a proof of their faith, and because of Corypheus, it was all destroyed. A big part of the Andrastrian religion was defiled, and our warden’s legacy erased.
And we made corypheus pay for it. Bioware really did do a good job with corypheus as a villain.
this scene. when i try to sing along with it, my voice trembles and tears appear in my eyes.
i was the same way... truly epic
Bandoolero Lucky you. For me, I can't even get a sound out of my mouth lol.
SAME!!!
The most powerful moment in the game. Watching it here is less moving. but when i played the game and arrived on this scene, it was breathtaking.
I dont want to spoil, but this is the part where your organization in the game is down on the dumps.. and suddenly this song.. BAM! I love this game
It was just such an awesome transition. From the tragic destruction of Haven, to this uplifting and feels-evoking scene, to the harsh journey to Skyhold, then finally, we arrive at the ancient fortress!
"Faith is made stronger by doubt. Untested, it is nothing."
Shows the strength of peoples faith in the maker
I love how Cullen waits for everyone else to start singing before he does. c':
One of the best moments in the game. Hearing a Chantry mother start singing and then hearing/watching Leliana and the others join in is EXCELLENT. Plus, it's the main theme of the game.
UH, Cullen, why are you so perfect? ;___;
Mareike H. Hot hot hot hot hot
ReinaDCD Urgh, I know right? :'D Stupid, perfect, hot commander...
Mareike H. I know right? First seeing this scene, Cullen's voice hit me hard. I mean, he can fight, he can plan, he can lead, he can cancel magic when on mystic drugs, and now he can sing. I feel inadequate here! :-(
God Of Urging I KNOOOOW, it's so frustrating :[ I wish he was real, I would love to make him blush all day, lol. Bioware is just evil to create a character like that >.< Did you see what they did with the thank you speach for the GOTY award? Evil.
Mareike H. I couldn't even believe it when I first saw him - Cullen has been in DA: Origins already and reappeared in DA II, but developed from a faint-hearted, annoying bystander into THIS HOT GUY. Oh my goodness. When they introduced the characters I was like, hey, maybe Blackwall might be a nice love interest, but the second I spoke to Cullen first I completely fell for him :D
This was a great moment in game. I love when Cullen starts singing
Jamie Mielke His voice is really beautiful!
It also plays when you hunt a dragon, like the "dovakin" song in skyrim, you got to love this tune! Amazing scene :D
cullen closes his eyes and after the song drops his mic....killed it.
Dammit Cullen, why are you handsome AND sing so good? D:
What's so sad about this, is that this is by far the best game I've played, I also have a series of it, and people doesn't like it at all. I know everyone's taste is different, but holy shit! How can anyone say that this isn't an epic game?! Just f***ing look at this scene man! >.
Szinisztusz I absolutely agree
and btw tök király hogy itt is látni a kommentedet szinisztusz :D
i know this is now two years old (wow... did not seem to be so long for me...) but i feel to comment on that. Yes the Story was great. But everything else was crap. From generic "get this" or "kill this" missions, to Skyrim like unnessesary mass exploration (two years and there are still 2 areas of the game i never was in there). And a fighting system that was either too easy or too unfair depending on your class.
No... it was a bad game like DA 2 when it comes to gameplay. But both had exceptionally good main stories to tell.
vityusz18 Only hated the pointless social justice nonsense like Dorian's personal quest.
Because the plot is extremely watered down and boring in comparison to Dragon Age: Origins. The people that played this series as it came out slowly watched the writing in this game get worse and worse.
Szini Well sorry but I hated this game.
I get that Cullen is adorable and cute but imagine actually being one if his soldiers... That'd be terrifying
Home is behind
The world ahead
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadow
To the edge of night
Until the stars are all alight
Mist and shadow
Cloud and shade
All shall fade
All shall fade !
It kind of gives me that vibe too.
It sounds like they used Pippins song in Lotr as a working point
Agree this reminded me directly of pippins song
Yep, was the first thing that crossed my mind as Giselle starts to sing. Also the scene after is sooo Lotr.
Still really cool song and scene, loved it! :)
I just watched that part, and you are absolutely right.
it's a beautiful place to take inspiration from, and I think they nailed it
Cullen :'The path is dark...'
Me automatically:'...and full of terrors'
I'm still making my way through my first Inquisition campaign (just bought it a few weeks ago). This scene gave me chills.
+Phlebas You've got a long way to go, but it'll be worth it. :)
ReinaDCD
Oh, don't I know it. This game is huge. And I'm a completionist, so this will probably be a project to keep me occupied for another couple months.
+Phlebas High five! Completionist ftw. :P
+Phlebas i almost cried
The year is 2021 and I am still getting goosebumps every time I hear this song
I just loved the scene when they discovered skyhold. this song is still giving me goosebumps
The fact that the high chancellor, in the end, came around at last, was a nice touch for me.
It was at this moment the inquisitor realised that she had found herself in a disney movie.
Goosebumps. I always love the part where Cullen joins in.
What they don't show is the Inquisitor shivering and sneezing wrapped in like 20 blankets because she was walking for several hours in the freezing cold in plate armor.
Best cutscene in a video game... in a long.. long time. I was punching the air
Fist pump, fist pump, fist pump!
Lol level 3 dwarf hears the song.
"Let's go kill corypheous!!!"
What makes this scene so amazing is how despite happening the same way every time, it can have different meanings. It can be your character finally getting some recognition, or acting as a catalyst for them getting serious about the inquisition. I was rolling an atheist qunari my first time and when this scene happened, all i could think was "what in the world have you gotten yourself into, adaar?"
Also, it works well from a lore perspective. The chant is supposed to be sung, not just recited. And the maker is usually represented by a sun, so this whole song is really like the andrastian version of Psalm 23.
I'll never forget the first time I saw this scene. I was having a bad day and decided to play it to take my mind off it. I happened to get to this part and it touched me so deeply. I just cried and cried for what felt like forever. All this time later, whenever I hear it or see it, I get misty eyed and have to hold back tears. So many people from different backgrounds gathering together for a moment of being together as one. It was great. One of my favorite scenes in the whole series.
damn seeing and hearing cullen join is what broke me 😭
My favorite moment from any game I've ever played.
Mine too (so far)!
I don't like the chantry but this literally made me cry XD
***** It does sound Chantry-ish come to think of it
ReinaDCD I haven't fact checked my lore, but it is pretty apparent to me that this is a very common hymn sung throughout Thedas by Chantry members. Just like in real life, you go to a church in one part of the world, they are probably singing the exact same song in another part of the world. This is in fact an idea Josephine put forth earlier: that the Chantry brings together people from many different regions, cultures, and nations, and with that common ground as a foundation understanding and community is grown.
Der Exploit I see. I guess that's probably why it sounded so familiar.
This moment in the game made me cry, the songs they sing in the Dragon Age games are always perfectly timed and beautiful.
It brought some tears to my eyes too. ;_;
ReinaDCD I was not expecting it, but I am so glad they added this to the game. A game that shows feeling and emotion between all of the characters is an amazing thing. Thank you Bioware for delivering.
I cried too! This game is a masterpiece
This game deserves so much public and fame than what it haves....
Your inquisitor seems angry as fuck
+Gabi24492 Maybe she's pissed off that a lot of people died in Haven.
Yeah considering Inky wakes up to their advisors shouting, Haven being destroyed, and no closer to finding out what that anchor means, I'd be pissed too. Lol
+Joey Weems Ahaha, I'd probably be irritated too! xD
+ReinaDCD she's like "Sing all you frigging want, I'm still pissed..."
+Joey Weems I went for the choice that my Inquisitor was religious, but after finding out the origin of the Anchor, they'd lost faith. Which would rather explain the whole "Pissed off" look, atleast for me. It seems to be a song or religious origin.
cullen's voice is killing me it's so beautiful
My heart broke when Cullen started singing ;-;
XxTsukiAkari Into tiny little bits!
Never thought that I would listen to this song in shelter during air attack to stop hearing the sound of sirens. The dawn will come 🤞🏼
my man ovaries explode every time i hear cullen singing in this clip
like dang dude that voice is a panty dropper oml
I always cry when i re-watch this scene.
A song to find hope in the darkest hour.
Epic !!!
I Love Cullen. And He Can Sing I Love Him Even More
Chills go crazy when Cullen joins in.
Honestly in my head I kept thinking, "Yeah good singing, then Corypheus finds us with it and bam, end of the world right there because we wanted to sing"
This is the moment in the game that I thought: "Oh, this is so far from over. Corypheus is done." It gave me such an epic feeling. I haven't actually beat the game yet, but yeah. Also, I don't know if I spelt the main antagonist's name wrong.
ThePhoenix No, correct spelling, well done. You beat Sera anyway!
ThePhoenix So intense, right?! I mean, the whole part with Haven being attacked, Corypheus, the lonely walk through the snow storm and then this touching moment - followed by a cinematic journey to Skyhold. Too. Many. Feelings. I've been playing for hours and don't even know how to sleep right now though it's way past bedtime here because this whole chapter totally messed me up :D
AurorasTears don't know why but this game reminds me of The Hobbit sometime :')
In the context of everything that happens before and immediately after this scene, this is probably my favorite scene in any game, ever. It is so perfectly timed, so well-earned. I agree, it has it's similarities to Pippin singing to Denethor in Return of the King, but such a different purpose.
The scene with Pippin is effectively about loss of hope, with Faramir riding to what he believes will be his death, his pointless death, as his father glumly eats, alone in his despair. This scene, this is about the return of hope.
Oh, Greg Ellis Cullen Rutherford
This scene was such a pleasant surprise. It actually gave me goosebumps.
yes my prayers have been answered leliana can still sing
I think she sings even better here than in DAO honestly
ReinaDCD Leliana's voice actor is Corinne Kempa, but it was Aubrey Ashburn, who sang the Leliana's Song in DAO. I do believe (also my ears do believe), that this time it is really Corinne, who is singing, because it totally sound like her.
Incognito Wolf Yeah, both Aubrey and Corinne have beautiful voices, but they're different in their own way. I just prefer Corinne's Leliana singing over Aubrey's simply because it sounds like the actual Leliana is singing.
0:33 Leliana: "What a nice voice! Ok. Amateur hour = OVER. Time to pass the mic to the dam BARD..."
'___'
When despair sets in, and all seems lost, this song can restore hope to even real life concerns. It's also just plain beautiful and I love to sing along.
Probably the best moment in the game IMO, I was getting really fucking bored after all the garbage in Redcliffe and then I progressed my story and got here.
One of the very few moments in the game that actually convinced me to keep playing.
Cullens voice..i do't even...*hyperventilates* *Faints*
Oh, look! Sexiness overload!
A man who can sing what more could an inquisitor want ;)
Emily White Make him your boyfriend and he might just sing for you. ^^
Oh..He heh..you just brougt my dirty mind back..heh he he
**The shepherd is lost**
and his home is far,
**Keep to the stars**
Feels like a reference to ME.
Yup, there is also a Krogan Head Wall Mount in the keep where you fight real Lord Seeker Lucius.
@@mmh5372 I must keep an eye out then.
I remember my first time playing I was so surprised when she started singing, not expecting a song in this game. And when it panned onto Cullen (My romance) I was like "oH LAWD YES PLEASE PLEASE SING--" And when he sung I was like *uncle Jesse voice* "hAVE MERCY"
I really, really loved this song. The act of singing has religious significance to the chantry, so the fact that they decided to sing their darkest hour gave me goosebumps
Dragon Age: Inquisition wasn't a perfect game but this very scene is probably the most epic moment I've ever seen in PC game.
Inquisition has many defects, but also scenes like this which are unforgettable
Whenever I have a bad day and nothing goes right, I always watch this scene to remind me it's not hopeless.
I never felt so engaged and pulled into a game such as this. I honestly felt a tear when i saw refugees coming out to sing and my throat swells when i see actual guards/ warriors knight's kneeling before me. All there hopes and survival were riding on me. Their chants radiate before me and quite honestly it fitted so well in the next scene where they properly deemed me leader.
How could anyone say no to a heartwarming scene where I'm literally scene as their only hope.
"I am the inquisition" is what i said once i took the sword.
