Nice reaction guys. My interpretation is that the dancers represent Vessel's feelings - his unrelenting love - for the woman who doesn't love him back. He wants to stop loving her, so he tries to kill his feelings (the dancers) with the sword. But his feelings are too strong, and they overpower him instead. Every time he fails to numb his heart, he gains another ribbon to tie on the tree. (Only 1 dancer has a ribbon because he's already tried multiple times and failed; the other dancers have already given up their ribbons). I read somewhere else the suggestion that the setting of the video could be inside Vessel's heart.
The white ribbons represent innocent lives lost to violence and to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against Women, girls and children. It also is worn in support for people who self harm as vessel has written song’s referencing self harm as he has self harmed in the past.🤍

The first time I got to see them in NYC last year, our friend from the UK (who flew in for the show) made bracelets for all of us with "TLYW" and a white ribbon tied around it, since it's her favorite song. It was just a small sea of white ribbons at barricade and Vessel came over and acknowledged the ribbons 🥹 it was wonderful, and the bracelet sits on my steering column in my car.

Like, the person Vessel is speaking about constantly locks their heart up and swallows the key, but Vessel is trying to convince them that by doing that they're just harming themselves. Another note, the line "Are you simply saving your love for someone I am not" is THE most heartbreaking lyric ever.

(You have a type kind of thing) - He sees this 'one' girl and follows her and she ends up leading him to every 'version' of her he has encountered. - He is constantly trying to kill his love for this person through others (who are like her) over and over and ultimatley in the end he ends up hurting himself, over and over. - When he takes the sword out I believe its metaphorical for killing his love for this person. During that portion he sings 'and I'm still full of the love you want' repeatedly. - When he is defeated he starts the song over. Like how many people will start over with someone who is like the last person they were with or they keep going back to the same person.

I can't tell you how much this moved me live when I saw them in Detroit September 2023, I don't think I've ever cried like that at a concert in my entire life. 6,000 people all singing this like a choir with Vessel, it was a spiritual experience.
The drums and piano coming in is my favorite part, and then complete with the lyrics “seems your heart is locked up and I still get the combination wrong, or are you simply waiting, to give your love to someone I am not? My interpretation of the video is that it's Vessel's struggle with Sleep. This is like him being "inside" the trance and the red scenario always seems like the insides of a creature. He has a weapon. He can fight back. He tries. But he fails, the woman overpowers him and his fight ends. He loses. Then he starts over again because he's still struggling. Alkaline seems like he's deeper into it and starting to push away people, maybe that are trying to rescue by killing "vessel" so the human he was can be free. There's just so many layers and still leave it oven to interpretation. This band is just something else

Just my own interpretation of the sword scene; I think Vessel's aim isn't to kill the girls but to cut his attachment to them. They're frozen until he swings his sword at them and 'cuts' the invisible strings/ties binding them. But then the leader overpowers him and he falls to - and for - her again as he stabs himself in the heart. Thereby repeating the same cycle over and over.
I literally cry every time I hear TLYW, and watching Vessel & Co perform it live last in Anaheim was one of the most magical moments of my short 30 years on this earth.

I've been waiting for you guys to react to this one, it's different (Obviously) but more so than the rest, and the video is amazing. This one is so personal for me - as it’s a feeling I’m currently having. The idea of loving someone you know you can never have, and being unable to cut yourself away from those feelings is just hard. And in the end it keeps hurting you over and over again. This song articulates it so well
Everytime I hear another song from ST, my body, mind and soul just become so invested and I immerse myself into all of it. The versatility is magical and you just can’t predict how they will go but they never miss!❤️
Lyrically, I think this is one of my favorite songs of theirs, especially the second verse. Talking about trying combinations to unlock her heart and still not getting it wrong hurts too. He's tried everything and is still coming up short and that's just how life is. The next lines about swallowing keys gives me the feeling that he knows that the ways he's trying to appeal to her/Sleep is the wrong approach to unlocking their affection, knowing that no combintation will unlock a lock that requires a key. Visually, I really like the scene at 06:59 where she is leaning back to dodge his sword swipe. The imagery of them almost looks like opposite sides of a coin, which for me really drives home the idea from the intro line about lying an inch apart on their own continuum. So close, but so far.
The line "Too many swallowed keys..." Is so criminally underrated. Its literally saying if you keep shutting people out of your life you're going to destroy yourself.
It's symbolism, and beautifully shown. He's on a loop, trying to constantly fight away his love for the girl, but he can't "cut" it out, so she becomes a damaging thing and makes him harm himself over and over, repeating the same process constantly.

Yay for Saturday sleep token reactions! I don't have a well-thought-out reason but I always got the vibe that tlyw is about vulnerability. In my opinion, Vessel is basically showing his hand and being vulnerable by letting them know he is still willing to give the relationship a fair shot (I'm still full of the love you want). He is hoping that by showing vulnerability will unlock the other's real feelings and unveil what's beneath the *freakshow talk*. *The love you want* is a weird phrase for me and always made me question if he feels this other person needs this love but they're afraid to admit it and are putting a front. In a way, it seems to me like a friends-with-benefits kind of deal that always evolves in something more and then one of the two retreats behind a closed door (swallowed keys), maybe unconsciously hurts the other and they end up breaking up but then they can't stay apart and the cycle repeats. Even though he is attempting to hurt the other person, he can also get hurt, as he's still willing to put himself out there, bare chest if you will, to stop this cycle and know once and for all if the other person is on the same page or not. Seems fitting to me for how the video ends and the cycle starts again.
I think the setting that you guys asked “what are we looking at” represents vessels heart or mind maybe. The dancers are the memories/feelings he tries to cut out him but ultimately fails and just hurts himself in the process. Obviously in the end he repeats the process unable to move on and constantly hurting himself.

I don't know why, but my interpretation of the song changed recently. I thought it was about loving someone else who doesn't love you back , but now when I hear it it's about finding love for oneself and looking for it in other people. Placing your anchor in different harbors-never setting sail, never having the combination - waiting for someone with it, swallowing other people's keys but it's only causing pain, "an inch apart from your own continuum" falling short of finding it being trapped in that cycle, "freak show talk" cutting down the hurtful words someone tells themselves.

This was the song that pulled me into Sleep Token. After The Summoning came out I went and listened to TPWBYT and when I say I listened to this song at least 15 times that day, I'm not exaggerating. Ok so of the “tree limbs” are suppose to be veins in a body and he’s tying white ribbons around them… white ribbons are meant to be used as a representation of purity or beauty, like a white wedding dress. The ribbons also represent wishes, but you find out he keeps repeating the whole video over and over so he’s essentially making the same wish. So, this is how I view this music video. They are in Vessel's heart. The woman pictured is who he often sings about, and the ribbons indicate wounds. Wounds on her wrist, and continual wounds on his heart. Sleep (the actual deity) is there trying to protect his heart and repair it when damaged... but Vessel keeps letting her back in to hurt him. So, Sleep continues to protect and repair.
it’s an hour long, but you guys should check out ii’s interview with drumeo. not only do you get to re-listen to a lot of great songs, but he goes into detail on how he sets up his drum parts and expresses himself in the music with all of his influences. also, it was just flat out incredible to watch him play along. it truly was mesmerizing. he is truly a world class musician. i hope you guys can check it out!!!

This one is so personal for me - as it’s a feeling I’m currently having. The idea of loving someone you know you can never have, and being unable to cut yourself away from those feelings is just hard. And in the end it keeps hurting you over and over again.

Everytime I hear another song from ST, my body, mind and soul just become so invested and I immerse myself into all of it. The versatility is magical and you just can’t predict how they will go but they never miss!❤️
Lyrically, I think this is one of my favorite songs of theirs, especially the second verse. Talking about trying combinations to unlock her heart and still not getting it wrong hurts too. He's tried everything and is still coming up short and that's just how life is. The next lines about swallowing keys gives me the feeling that he knows that the ways he's trying to appeal to her/Sleep is the wrong approach to unlocking their affection, knowing that no combintation will unlock a lock that requires a key.
Visually, I really like the scene at 06:59 where she is leaning back to dodge his sword swipe. The imagery of them almost looks like opposite sides of a coin, which for me really drives home the idea from the intro line about lying an inch apart on their own continuum. So close, but so far.
The line "Too many swallowed keys..." Is so criminally underrated.
Its literally saying if you keep shutting people out of your life you're going to destroy yourself.
It's symbolism, and beautifully shown. He's on a loop, trying to constantly fight away his love for the girl, but he can't "cut" it out, so she becomes a damaging thing and makes him harm himself over and over, repeating the same process constantly.

I don't have a well-thought-out reason but I always got the vibe that tlyw is about vulnerability.
In my opinion, Vessel is basically showing his hand and being vulnerable by letting them know he is still willing to give the relationship a fair shot (I'm still full of the love you want).
He is hoping that by showing vulnerability will unlock the other's real feelings and unveil what's beneath the *freakshow talk*.
*The love you want* is a weird phrase for me and always made me question if he feels this other person needs this love but they're afraid to admit it and are putting a front.
In a way, it seems to me like a friends-with-benefits kind of deal that always evolves in something more and then one of the two retreats behind a closed door (swallowed keys), maybe unconsciously hurts the other and they end up breaking up but then they can't stay apart and the cycle repeats.
Even though he is attempting to hurt the other person, he can also get hurt, as he's still willing to put himself out there, bare chest if you will, to stop this cycle and know once and for all if the other person is on the same page or not.
Seems fitting to me for how the video ends and the cycle starts again.

I think the setting that you guys asked “what are we looking at” represents vessels heart or mind maybe. The dancers are the memories/feelings he tries to cut out him but ultimately fails and just hurts himself in the process. Obviously in the end he repeats the process unable to move on and constantly hurting himself.

I don't know why, but my interpretation of the song changed recently. I thought it was about loving someone else who doesn't love you back , but now when I hear it it's about finding love for oneself and looking for it in other people. Placing your anchor in different harbors-never setting sail, never having the combination - waiting for someone with it, swallowing other people's keys but it's only causing pain, "an inch apart from your own continuum" falling short of finding it being trapped in that cycle, "freak show talk" cutting down the hurtful words someone tells themselves.

It's so hard to decide on what song is my favorite amongst the Sleep Token discography but this album really hits home for me on most songs and it has so many great lyrics that people can relate to. I can't wait for High Water, that is definitely my favorite song off of TOMB

This was the song that pulled me into Sleep Token. After The Summoning came out I went and listened to TPWBYT and when I say I listened to this song at least 15 times that day, I'm not exaggerating. "To many swallowed keys will make you bleed internally, some day" hit me like a ton of bricks... just a beautiful song. Thank you guys for reacting to Sleep Token and really immersing yourselves into each song with such intention. I find myself tearing up watching some of these because it takes me back to the first time I listened to them. Love ya'll!
the final chorus is very cathartic but my favorite is still the second one, love the drums there
Ok so of the “tree limbs” are suppose to be veins in a body and he’s tying white ribbons around them… white ribbons are meant to be used as a representation of purity or beauty, like a white wedding dress. The ribbons also represent wishes, but you find out he keeps repeating the whole video over and over so he’s essentially making the same wish. I also think the branches look like ruptured capillaries or veins, “too many swallowed keys will make you bleed internally someday.
So, this is how I view this music video.
They are in Vessel's heart. The woman pictured is who he often sings about, and the ribbons indicate wounds. Wounds on her wrist, and continual wounds on his heart. Sleep (the actual deity) is there trying to protect his heart and repair it when damaged... but Vessel keeps letting her back in to hurt him. So, Sleep continues to protect and repair.
it’s an hour long, but you guys should check out ii’s interview with drumeo. not only do you get to re-listen to a lot of great songs, but he goes into detail on how he sets up his drum parts and expresses himself in the music with all of his influences. also, it was just flat out incredible to watch him play along. it truly was mesmerizing. he is truly a world class musician. i hope you guys can check it out!!!
This song only gets better the more you listen to it, you will catch more and more little things. Its hard to believe hes making that high pitch noise in the bridge with his voice.
