Fall For Me is a song about self love. He is pleading with himself to find true acceptance of who he is. The vocoder effect is deliberate, being is that it changes octaves and layers them on top of each other. Meaning, anyone can sing this song and be in key, no matter their vocal range. It is because this song is meant for all of us to sing.
Pop ups in case you missed them: The truth is I am due a hash lesson In truth itself and how bitter it can be Will you teach me The truth is, I am ugly, I am inadequate, I am lost I am No God The truth is, I want to want, to live And so Do you Just Can’t Do This Any Longer I am afraid Are you afraid? I want to understand What it is To let go So for now let me serve as a living drama of your pain If we are to be submerged let us be submerged Together
Fun fact about Fall for Me: in the days leading up to the single's release, ST posted the messages you saw in the video on their Twitter one by one each day. Fans assumed they were the lyrics to a new song, but were surprised to learn their true origins when they finally revealed the video. One more: that's Vessel in the video. Yes, really. And the note he's fumbling with contains the lyrics to this very song. Love your guys' coverage of this amazing band 🖤
@@shyfullripped freeze framed it. Possibly scars, I suppose, but there's dirt on his face, he's contorting it unusually to actually scream, and there's some post processing lens distortion stuff going on too. Hard to tell. Many people, though not myself, have theorized he wears the mask to cover scars though so you're not reaching too far!
@@evaj2556 just pause the video and you can make out the words "cathedral, into, touch, screaming" all in the correct order as they appear in the song!
What blows my mind is that whenever he gets the MOST real, he uses auto tune or vocal effects to hide the emotion and pain under the surface, I think so that he can get through it. DYWTYLM. Fall For Me. Several others. It's gorgeous and tragic.
I see it as this being inside Vessel's head right after first finding Sleep. The only time we see Vessel as we know him (the character) is with the black hand coming out of the ground early. That Vessel doesn't exist yet, but it's surfacing. The rest of the video we just see the man before Vessel. Plain clothes, no mask, no body paint, just stumbling around aimlessly at his most vulnerable we've seen. He is lost and the lyrics + text in the video show a man that feels inadequate, incomplete, ugly and unworthy longing for meaning and someone to take him in. And in his mind Sleep can give that to him so he wants it to accept him, "fall for him" and give him something to live for. That's what the text is IMO. It's his internal monologue or he talking to himself about how he NEEDS Sleep. It's like a drug addict alone saying out loud how and why he needs his next hit as if he was explaining it to someone else. And at the end we see the man before Vessel walking into the ocean. If first he was stumbling around now for the first time in the video he has a straight back and keeps his balance. Now he has purpose and direction. He entered the place that will become his tomb and never appeared again. The man drowns so Vessel can surface.
You said this beautifully, and if we want to take the deity out of it and look at it more plainly, then we can just say him walking confidently into the ocean is him finally choosing to accept himself and the Vessel we see is that version. So many interpretations, their music truly is an art form
I believe “worship” is not worshiping the band or worshipping sleep, it’s worshipping each other and the pain we have all felt. Supporting and loving each other. Recognising the pain and struggle we have all faced. Worshipping the recovery and experiences we’ve all had. Might mean something else to others but that’s it for me. Particularly when iii shouted “are you hurting like I am?!” At one of their shows.
I don’t understand how so many people don’t like this song. It’s simple. It’s beautiful. It’s a sledgehammer to the gut. And everything in the video just adds to it.
I think it’s because you have to sit with it and pay attention to the lyrics. Just listening to it as just a song only without paying attention to the lyrics makes it not the most likable song.
Fall for me has a hidden meaning, In the Sea whales fall to the ocean floor when they die and feed the ecosystem. The art associated to fall for me has a drawing of a whale. So there is a bit of a double meaning when he says fall for me.
An interesting fact about the whales is that they let themselves drown when they don't have the strength to resurface anymore. When people struggle with something and don't have the strength to deal with it anymore they want to let go, give up, let themselves fall and end their existence. Another fact - whales for some reason swim to the shallows which makes them unable to go back to the depths, their internal organs get crushed from the pressure which results in their death. I remember when the 'blu€ whale' was popular, it was used as an allegory to suicide.
@Tetheral Another interesting Tidbit, Vessels mask is canonically made from whale bone. Perhaps he's singing to the whale as a thank you for its sacrifice...
Now Kyle, I told you this when you told me how this affected you, and I’m going to say it again. Thank you, for your raw emotions. Thank you, for sharing these intimate moments with us. I feel like more men need to feel that it’s okay, to be raw with your emotions. So, thank you. I know that was difficult for you. Same for you, Eric. I could see the emotions on your face. You guys are amazing. I hope you’re both doing okay. Amazing reaction. Even with Sleep Token, it’s a gut hitting song and video. Loved this.
Agreed. Middle aged man, here, and I had a good old fashioned cry both when I first heard this song, then again watching him be so impacted by it. What's there to say? Sad song. Makes me feel sad and when I'm sad I cry 🤷♂️ but yeah you're right, I'd be embarrassed to do so anywhere in public so it's encouraging to see Kyle be comfortable with letting it be
@@Loctorak I’m so sorry that society has led you to believe that you can’t be emotional. I say, let the tears fall. Don’t let the opinions of those who don’t matter affect you. You’re important.
I think the reason Vessel is so good to so many people is not just his musical talent, but he is telling a story in every moment. He is creating art, and expressing emotion so well that it moves us all. It’s so refreshing and reignites my love for music and art.
And the video reflects that. It's the one and only time we see him without all the costume, paint and mask. This is Vessel being vulnerable and naked from the persona.
A tear jerker. This song reminds me of the feeling of trying to salvage a relationship with someone who doesn’t love you back. That’s how I take the line “…fall for me, from reality.” To me, the reality is that the relationship is spoiled and has ended already. The fractured existence would be their rocky established history/ relationship. I take it as begging them to just love them back. I think it falls in line with The Love You Want theme and leads into Alkaline’s theme of infatuation + the inability to understand the subject of the song’s feelings (their indifference towards Vessel). Like someone else said, this album only gets sadder. I implore you to pay attention to how the songs are delivered this album and how each makes you feel specifically. For me, this album is the most well thought out of their three and reflects the experience of losing a loving relationship with someone. There is regret, sadness, but also bits of cockiness that are lightly sprinkled throughout. Like the kind you feel when you’re in “Yeah, bro you’re so much better off without them” mode. For me, this album covers most emotions I have felt during times like that. Good stuff.
Sleep Token finds you when you need the music the most, Kyle. My friend has been trying to get me into Sleep Token for years but it's only in the last few weeks while I've been in the midst of a deep, personal awakening that it's made any sense and wow, it makes A LOT of sense now. I've found them when I needed them most and now I have a comprehensive, cohesive back catalogue with a full story and journey to get into and it's been so powerful and healing. I know it's been months since you posted this but I hope that the music helped to heal you somewhat, too.
Kyle’s reaction to this song was my reaction to this song. The symbolism, the lyrics.. everything. The emotion that this song brings is crazy. I love sleep token 🖤
you HAVE to do the live versions of all their songs. The "I WISH YOU WERE HERE!" with 10,000 people screaming it, or even just 100 people is spine mangling
Such an amazing song. For those talking about scars on his face, There’s theories that he was in a car accident and his partner lost their baby from it. I believe Atlantic is about waking up in the hospital after the accident and “are you really ok” from TMBTE is the aftermath of it. The cover art is holding a baby. I think there’s a few lines in High Water also like “And I know you still bear the weight of your own existence And you'll never bear the weight of two” also in some photos you can see scars on the bottom of his left forearm.
Ooooow that made all of those songs hurt even more 😭 But in a good way. I don't even care if that's completely accurate, I don't know, just the idea of it is soul crushing.
I've always interpreted the song as Vessel feeling like he is in hell and can't escape. He tried so hard, he lost touch with who he is, but he still finds it too difficult to get out of. So, he is beckoning for either his lover, or Sleep, to "fall for" him. He needs them to meet him there because he can't escape it by himself. That's my favorite part of how I interpret Vessel's writing. It could be about a physical relationship with a loved one, or ex-loved one, and/or about his metaphysical relationship with his diety, Sleep. It's so deep to me. No one does it better, or more meaningfully.
Cool thoughts! I have a similar interpretation, but I think the reason he is in hell is because he is emotionally disoriented from a loss of a relationship. To me, he’s lost and confused and begging his probably ex to fall for him (again). He is disoriented and “lost at sea” for this album due to a rush of emotions flooding him, which was a result of them splitting. All the water themes in the album make more sense when I think of it that way. One could also say it the sinking feeling of losing loved one that makes him feel he is in the middle of the ocean. I do love the sleep lore and such, but I think that stuff is all an after thought, as is their visual appearance. Those a just my thoughts though 😊 K, have a nice day 🫱🏼🫲🏽
The first time I heard this song I had a visceral reaction and so much emotion and tears came out. It found emotions that I had tried to burry. I love this song ❤❤
This song doesn’t get enough love honestly. It’s so simple yet so extremely powerful. It hurts. My husband and I like to yell “OH GOD I WISH YOU WERE HERE” a lot 😂 we love you guys! The songs get harder imo. Can’t wait for distraction!!! Also, the paper you see him picking up in the video, I’ve tried to pause, zoom and decipher and the only words I was able to pick up was some of the lyrics. So idk if it’s actually lyrics or maybe an “unaliving” note.
Fall For Me my beloved!!! Love this little group therapy session for us. This song often gets hate because all they hear is the vocoder and since it's ST they're all like "iTs NoT mEtAl". But to me, what makes this so hauntingly beautiful *IS* the fact that there is no crazy instrumentals, no intense production, just Vessel's ethereal vocals and lyrics that cut so deep that WILL have you questioning your life. This Place Will Become Your Tomb as a whole is so incredible, but Fall For Me is so important to me, I'm so happy you guys did this one. Much love 💛💛
Sleep Token is musical therapy. It relates on such a visceral level. One of my fave tracks and it always stops me in my tracks. Respect for your honest reaction - you're not alone in how it affected you.
I always cry when I hear this song come on my playlist. This hurts so much because as other commenter's have said, it's a song about self love and trying to accept himself. You were right, therapy happens when this song plays. Stay strong!
This was the song above all others I wanted you to do. This song with the video just FUCKS YOU UP but it's so healing in a way. This is a masterpiece and what brought me in fully to the Sleep Token fandom
This is why we all said" it has to be the video". There's so much in this simple seeming song. You caught the call back from Euclid too. I love this band.
This is a song that the more I listen to it, the more I hear and appreciate. That’s not to say I didn’t appreciate it before but yes, as you said, it’s special.
“Oh god, I wish you were here” line always messes me up. This song came out in the thick of the pandemic and I was in a long distance relationship with my now ex, who lives in Australia. That line always screamed out to me when I missed her and I still do. We broke up 2 years ago now and it still hurts when that part comes up ❤️🩹
Thank you guys so much for letting your emotions show.. vessel shows us that his music is emotional in every way possible and it should be experienced that way. Thank you for not cutting it out because that vulnerability is what makes sleep token so beautiful. Thank you guys ❤
I’ve heard this song a bunch but when I started watching this video, I immediately started tearing up. Probably in anticipation that our favorite metal head was going to tear up as well ❤️❤❤
Kyle, sending you a massive hug 💜🫶 You guys are amazing, thank you for these reactions. You both have captured exactly what it feels like to be a Sleep Token fan, and why they resonate with so many people. I agree, that I am so mad that I have only recently discovered them, but the journey is well worth the ride. Fall for me sets the tone for the rest of Tomb, and I am so excited for what's to come. Worship.
This was the first ST song I ever heard. I bawled instantly and began searching for more and have not stopped telling everyone I know about this band since. I love to see the appreciation for this song. ❤️
Oh Kyle, my heart! Thank you guys for always being real with emotions... it matters so much. I'll be honest I used to skip over this song because I didn't want to feel anything (well, as much as a person can not feel things while listening to ST, heh), but now it's one of my faves. Can't wait for Missing Limbs!
Imo, the worship is for the message content, the connection where the message meets our soul. True resonance on the heart strings. Love you guys, looking forward to Tolomeres!
This has to be one of my favorite ST songs in existence. Not just for the sound of the song itself, but simply due to the lyrics. Incredibly ouch and incredibly emotional. Wow. Kyle feeling it makes it all the more powerful.
I'm catching up with your Sleep Token reaction videos and I've only found them for myself recently. To say that I love their music would be an understatement and they have become an obsession. Devastatingly beautiful and beautifully devastating are phrases I definitely use to describe their music because that's exactly how I feel about them. How can one group of musicians create so much perfection, beauty and heart-breaking sadness with every song? *ETA* - I just want to give you both a massive hug!
To me this is one of their most honest songs - it has such deep truths that so many of us can take something from and to portray it in a very different way (vocoder and minimal/no instruments) makes it all the more impactful. Also the text “if we are to be submerged then let us be submerged” felt like the most gentle drowning. Love love love this song and your honest feedback!
It is a true testament to how you both are so honest and raw, to see music affect you emotionally, and for you guys to be so transparent, is really a gift, but also so pleasing to see. Never change who you guys are, it’s one of the major reasons why this channel is so incredible, on top of the way you guys break down music and enjoy it, I cried once again with you this was tough, but I never clicked so fast on a video, well done guys 🌹🌹
This song hits me so deep and emotionally about self love and self preservation. I see it as him singing to his true self, he wants to fall for himself and love himself and push past his insecurities and traumas holding him back. “To the rhythm of eternity” he wants to find that strength to carry over a lifetime and rise up and understand what it means to “want” to live for yourself. At least that’s how I take it🖤🙏🏻
My dad passed yesterday.. so this song hit even harder.. all I'll say.. is prepare yourself for the rest of the TOMB journey.. this is just the beginning..
When my friend told me to listen to ST and i said yeah, I didn't realize the feels trip i signed myself up for. The first band i have actually truly listened to a full album without skipping a song, and at that 3 of theirs. And like Kyle said i am so mad that it took me this long to discover them but i am happy i have now.
Like you both, I didn't get Sleep Token at first but have come to absolutely love them. Watching people react to them and fall in love with them, is so rewarding but I love watching you two the most because you wear your hearts on your sleeves and are not afraid of the emotions that Sleep Token invoke. You're my favourite youtubers by far and I look forward to many more great reactions. Thank you so much, for being so vulnerable. 🥰🥰
I love how everyone takes this song in so many different ways. It gives me very "asking someone to love you or loving someone who is broken" type thing. I think everyone takes music so differently and that's why I love this type of music with beautiful, deep lyricism.
As someone who struggles a lot with mental health, this song really hits me hard. The lyrics hit me in a way that its like im searching my soul for a part of me. That part of me that made me who i was before all the depression. Like i want to love that part of me again but its just not there.
I’m very glad you guys finally got to this. This song holds a very very special place in my heart, last year I went through a very bad heartbreak and all my life I’ve always been the type to never cry no matter what happened. I found sleep token last year shortly after that event and once I listened to Fall For Me I balled my eyes out for the first time in 7 years. This is easily my favorite song that they have and I hope they have stuff like this in the future. Thank you guys!
I couldn't wait for you guys to react to this one, this is one of my absolute favorites form Sleep Token, all together. Just such an amazing song Edit: Also, that is indeed Vessel in the video, hence why they don't show his face during the song
This is my absolute favorite song. I don't dislike anything in their discography. But this song and the title track from TMBTE and Euclid especially never fail to get me emotional.
This song is so so special. And the words on the screen in the video add so much to an already heart wrenching song! You guys are going to absolutely love the rest of the album, I cannot wait!

This song for sure gets me every time knowing it's about facing yourself
The song is meant for everyone to sing is hard. I’m not gunna lie.
as an ex-choir kid, i still go above the highest octave and harmonize with it
Never thought about that vocoder effect allowing for chanting in tune for any octave. That's so vessel
I think it's cos he's a fan of Imogen heap tbh
"With my love as your garden" as in the Garden of Eden. Hence, "Take Me Back to Eden" 😢
This song is my song for my wife who passed away in December. So glad you liked this song ❤
My sincerest condolences 😢

My deepest condolences.

Sorry for your loss bruv

Same. It is my favorite song by them to date. Im not even sure they could ever top it becuase its so dear to me.
Having Vessel be the one in the video with the way he can convey emotion really helped the emotion and direction of the song IMO

Missing limbs does things to me.
I have been STARING at my phone for the last 3 minutes I am SO ready.
The live version with the Vesselettes in the background and the audience joining in with, "Oh God I Wish You Were Here!" Is a "Repeater"
This song is sooo underrated!!! The imagery and words in this video are beautifully done and yet heartbreaking at the same time..😢❤️🫶🏻
I've always interpreted the song as Vessel feeling like he is in hell and can't escape.
Those a just my thoughts though 😊
K, have a nice day 🫱🏼🫲🏽
The video feels like the events leading up to Atlantic and the description of his unaliving attempt
I've listened to this song so many times, yet this might be the first time I actually LISTENED to it. Holy smoke machine
It is okay to cry. Showing how you feel is brave in this f*cked up world, Kyle. Hugs to you guys! Huge bear hugs!
I cry everytime I hear this one. It pulls out everything from inside & brings it to the surface. It's healing
This is the most underrated Sleep Token song, and the extra information in the clip takes it to the next level.
I hyperfixated on this song so hard. It's so simple and raw and I just kept it on repeat when it first came out
This one never fails to make me cry. Their shortest song but it has such a heavy meaning...🥺😔
I have never clicked on a notification SO QUICKLY BEFORE
same I've been waiting for this reaction.
this video makes me cry every single time. what a special and gorgeous song.
I feel ya Kyle, what a beautiful and vulnerable song. It says even more that we actually get to see vessel in the video. 😭🩷
We broke up 2 years ago now and it still hurts when that part comes up ❤️🩹
Been waiting for this one. I love this song so much
Thank you guys so much for letting your emotions show.. vessel shows us that his music is emotional in every way possible and it should be experienced that way. Thank you for not cutting it out because that vulnerability is what makes sleep token so beautiful. Thank you guys ❤
I’ve heard this song a bunch but when I started watching this video, I immediately started tearing up. Probably in anticipation that our favorite metal head was going to tear up as well ❤️❤❤
I reacted just as Kyle first time I watched the video. It hits hard. I just want to give the man a hug😢
Thank you for your emotions
I cry every SINGLE time I hear this song. It's definitely a tough listen to whoever is going through some sort of relationship situation
You two should try and get tickets to see them live! They're playing in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, May 18th.
He sings from his feelings to yours!
#rightinthefeels 💜
It hits me everytime... "with my love as your garden." and then Take Me Back to Eden.
I have a recording of Vessel doing this live and it hits then as well with his actions on stage. It’s definitely a tough one to get through!
I've been WAITING for this reaction, the song that brought me to utter tears...... just unmatched emotion in this song
Not gonna lie, everytime I hear this song I cry. Yet, it is also my favorite song by them.
Just wait till you get to Missing Limbs. That one killed me.
I love Missing Limbs as it's the closest crossover to Vessel's previous project.
They're gonna cry for sure in that one
Dude sleep token has been my favorite band I’ve found in recent memories remember when the 2 ep dropped my world was turned upside down for the better
The raw realness of your reactions is incredible to watch. Thank you for taking us along with you on this journey 💙
I’ve definitely cried to this song, and I’ve vibed to this song. It’s so good, and I’ve never heard a vocoded voice fit so well in a song.
🫂 I'm so very sorry 🫂💜
So sorry (((hugs)))
This song was already great when I first listened to it. When I saw it with the MV i cried.
The number of views on this video in such a short amount of time shows you how powerful this song is.
Masters of Melody. No instruments required. 😂
4:45 "Fuck me, right?"
Needed that break to wipe my tears away, thanks 😂
I've always loved this one. Worship
MY INSECURITIES SURROUND ME LIKE LIONS IN THE DEN AND I FEEL LIKE IM LOSING TOUCH WITH WHAT I AM AGAIN
Just such an amazing song
Edit: Also, that is indeed Vessel in the video, hence why they don't show his face during the song
I'm so late to this but this is my absolute favorite song from Sleep Token. Kyle, it's totally ok to cry. We will all give you virtual hugs.
This song is amazing. Vessel's lyrics are so raw, I've gotten more therapy listening to ST then talking to a therapist. 🖤
One of my fave ST songs. It hits dif ❤ Worship❤
Much love from all who went through the same emotions in the same way when we first heard this. Take your time ❤
Crazy what music can do
