- Once again this small Railway high up in the Welsh Mountains in South Wales have put on another superb Autumn Gala. It runs from Friday the 8th September 2017 until Sunday 10th September 2017.
They have brought in two visiting locos,
Ivatt 2MT 41312 from the Mid Hants Railway, and owned by Mr John Jones of Carmarthenshire.
Collett 2-8-0 tank loco 4270 from The Cloucester & Warwick Railway, returning to it's old home patch.
The line's two immaculate locos, Andrew Barclay 0-4-0 'Rosyth No1' and Austerity 0-6-0 'Mech Naavies' 71515.
This video captured the footage from my visit today, Saturday 9th September, and once again I would like to extend my gratitude to Hugh my guide and all the Staff and volunteers who made my visit to memorable.
All loco's looking amazing and the sounds going up the bank out of this world.Well done Bob for braving the rain shower............Regards Chris
Thanks Chris, it was more like constant downpours with the odd bit of sunshine, but wonderful none the less...Regards....Bob
Despite some wet and windy conditions, a lovely assortment of sights and sounds Bob. Best wishes, Bill.
It was a difficult day Bill, you'd be bathed in sunshine for a few minutes, then the heavens would open, along with very strong winds, all of which test camera and me to the limit...Regards...Bob
Another great show they put on Bob , least you got some sun ...well covered by your choice of locations ...Nice One ..Dave
They never disappoint Dave, I got soaked several times, but there was the odd bit of sunshine, which was very welcome I must say.....Bob
Excellent coverage of this event Bob, you certainly covered some ground. We called in at the 'Big Pit' a few years ago but no trains running so it was good to see the potential, thanks, Brian.
Thanks Brian, I tend to visit when there are special events, and there is plenty going on up there...Best wishes...Bob
Good one Bob, thanks for getting wet for us mate keep them coming
Thanks Jim, I love my visits up there, always a great show at the Galas, and despite getting soaked a few times. it was wonderful....Bob
Your welcome
Excellent video as usual Bob. Cheers, Dave.
Thanks Dave, being part of a World Heritage site, it's a great place to visit...Regards...Bob
Very beautiful report on a magnificent Gala. Diolch Bob. Philippe
Merci Philippe, bien qu'il s'agisse d'un petit chemin de fer, son emplacement fait partie d'un centre du patrimoine mondial .... Diolch Yn Fawr unwaith eto .... Bob
Brilliant video, enjoyed very much. Picture quality amazing.
Thanks Bob, I try and produce an upload that's enjoyable for the viewer to watch...Bob
Another fine gala superbly videoed Bob. Two excellent guest locos to compliment the equally excellent home engines. Regards, Jeff.
Thanks as always Jeff, you are too kind...but I like it!!...Regards....Bob
Looks like another good gala at the PBR, Bob, and superbly captured on video. The two visiting engines looked quite at home there. Keith
They always put on a great Gala Keith, and this is no exception...Regards...Bob
Some great engines at the Gala Bob and perfectly filmed as usual. As you know Steam are the ones that I prefer so You have made me happy. Regards, Mike.
Thanks Mike, this is one unique Railway, it's in a World Heritage Centre, and over 1,000 ft above sea level, which along with the steep gradients, makes it a wonderful place to visit....Regards...Bob
Good shots Bob, plenty of action from the hard working locos
The weather was atrocious Austin, b....Bobut thankfully there was the odd slash of sunshine....another Great Gala from the P&BR
Superb video Bob. Nice sounds of the engines working the banks. Hope you didn't get to wet. Brilliant gala they have put on. Enjoyable watching. Best wishes C&A
In all the ten years I've been visiting there C&A, they've always put on some amazing Galas, and more importantly for a small Railway, secure some great locos...Got soaked several times, but enjoyed every minute....Regards...Bob
Bob, An amazing film, really enjoyed watching it; I have just watched Mike Wilcock's film, I think that yours and his complement each other. I managed to attend for a few brief hours on Saturday afternoon, it was good to see the Ivatt looking and sounding very good. As you mention in a response to John Edkins, the P & B R always put on a good show - probably the best here in south Wales. Best wishes, Stuart
Thanks Stuart for your kind comments....I've been covering their events now for around 9 years, and never been disappointed with whatever event they've put on.....Regards....Bob
A superb video our Bob....great viewing.....Hope You didn't get too wet !! Best wishes....Steve.
Thanks Steve, the weather did improve a little during the afternoon, but the showers were very heavy, and when you're over a 1,000 feet above sea level, you can get very wet indeed.....Having said that, it was a great show as always, and they looked after me well....All the Best....Bob
You covered all the best views once again, I love the Ivatt tank, reminds me of the days they ran Lancaster - Morecambe when I was a lad in the '50s
Thanks Mike, the weather restricted me from using some of the planned locations, and despite the very heavy showers, I still had a wonderful day up there....Regards...Bob
Bob, lovely coverage of the Gala, some great shots around the sheds too. I did look out for you at your usual locations.
Didnt think you were there! But you were within spitting distance on times. You have me filming 71515 on the over bridge but just as a dot!
I avoided the stations except for Furnace Sidings.
Glad you had a great day on the line, Geraint
It was only Di and me, and with those heavy showers it was difficult at times..we went home early afternoon just as it became sunnier...Regards...Bob
Bob some great video catches and stupendous editing
Thanks as always Wayne, you're too kind...but I like it!...Regards...Bob
Brilliant. If I hadn't promised to help at a dog show I would have been there. Did meet Guard Dave in Aber a few days earlier.
You missed a great weekend, despite the weather...a wonderful Gala once again from the P&BR....Bob
Thanks for rubbing it in!!!!
You can always bank on this line for a good show. Mech Navvies doesn't half make a good noise. I love that little Barclay.
Thanks Andrei, the regular driver of Mech Naavies is a star and always puts on a great show during a Gala....this line always put on such a great show...Bob
