Steam & Snow with the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway Santa Specials 2017.

- With overnight snow, the conditions were perfect to capture the Santa Specials being run on the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway high in the Welsh Mountains in South Wales.
A big thank you to Alex Hinshelwood, allthe staff and volunteers of the Railway who made me welcome once again, to capture some very special sequences during this event. The locos featured were 71515 Mech Navvies Ltd, and Rosyth No1.
Very picturesque with the snow, Bob, and fantastic exhaust notes from the Austerity and 0-4-0!

Thanks Mike, got as far as Aberdare then decided to go the long way round, and luckily had these conditions in which to capture steam, and Santa....can't ask for more....Regards...Bob

Well, The Gods must have been looking down on You for this Today.!! How good does it get....Snow on Santa Specials..And You 'The Man', getting to Film the first proper Snow for Christmas time 2017 on a Railway....Brilliant video...Makes You feel Christmassy just watching it...Well done for a superb Video our Bob.....* I noticed the JCB Driver never bothered to clear away the Snow from the side Windows of the Cab..hmm..Not very safety minded...No worries...Best wishes.....Steve.
I couldn't believe it Steve, we had to take the long way round to get there due to the snow, and today, it's been cancelled due to further snow fall...so thank goodness, we went yesterday.....A very special day, that I will remember for years to come....All the Best Mr M!....Bob

Some wonderful shots there Bob. The snow made it even more scenic and not too deep. No safety regulations when the coal was being loaded, but it had to be done. I always enjoy steam in any conditions. All the best for Christmas to you and your family. Mike.

Great stuff. Am slightly surprised that there wasnt more snow given that you are virtually above the treeline there and the closed Waunavon station (the highest in Wales) is only a mile away. You cant beat steam and snow together in shots like this. Pleased to hear you are on the mend. Have a happy Xmas.
