It's criminal that John does not get the respect he deserves. From folk to jazz, to bluesy rock, John is a treat. Terrific album. More please. Peace & Love.
His is one of many rabbit holes I've been currently exploring. This particular track I have on a playlist revolving around a recent dream that is relevant to the song. John's playing is fantastic, and the songs are compelling and keep me wanting more. Great album and upload.
Thanks, JP, for another interesting appraisal. This was the first of his albums that I heard, and it's the mesmeric quality of the playing that always snares me.
Always appreciate your insightful and knowledgeable analyses of well-selected music - keep it up, JP - also just ordered one of your cool ばかり T-shirts!
Interesting perspective, your perception that the song is about looking back. Never felt that before. Thought it was about being fearful in a relationship that things might be going wrong. Ironically, when I broke up with my partner of many years I couldn't listen to any Pat Metheny for years because we both loved his music, and it hurt every time I tried. That took a very long time. John Martyn was just great. A master of his art.
John should get more respect when it comes to his music. You broke it down beautifully. This was a good pick for a reaction. I would like to suggests some artists for you to react to. I'm really looking forward to your thoughts on them. Thanks! Keep the music playing. Criminal indeed. So many wonderful albums that like Roy Harper should have sold in much bigger numbers!

Another gem from this outstanding album. Astonishing to think that John had no time for his work of art!
Another great song. I’ll tell you what’s a top John Martyn song - Cooltide. It’s a mellow, trippy, jazzy, floaty, groovy sort of thing.
Funkiest Martyn. Awesome.

What a great album. Don’t know if you have listened to his old mate Nick Drake? Really worth a listen
