Not taking anything away from John Martyn's lovely, languorous vocal and acoustic groove, but how many bass players are there who are instantly recognisable from just a single note?
Nice to see you doing a bit of John Martyn, JP. I used to love the "Bless The Weather" and "Solid Air" albums. It's been quite a while since I listened to them.
Sublime. This is singer/songwriter/folk/acoustic music that should appeal to anyone who thinks they don't like this genre. John Martyn used to live in Moscow (Fact! Though it was the tiny village of Moscow in Ayrshire, Scotland rather than the Russian capital. Still worth knowing!) (I used to live four miles from California - though it was the tiny village of California, Scotland...you get the idea.)
A gorgeous song that has you sinking into its stoned brilliance I have no words for partner in crime's Danny Thompson's contribution, as it speaks for itself. Exemplary is the closest i can get! 🎈
The very beginnings sounds like the start of Neil Young’s Old Man. Then the lyrics start and sounds like Neil. But then he sounds like a song w/o Neil’s magical lyrics.
I saw JM solo, in a duo, quartet and quintet and a,ways a great show. I saw him more times than any other artist. What a shame he died only aged 60.

Victoria sounding sweet
@@bid84 Made by a French guy called Gand in 1865. Danny purchased it from a shop in Battersea. 👍

Were you into the improvisational follow up that was 'Inside Out'?
I only really knew the two albums @@Owlstretchingtime78 , and Stormbringer, but I never listened to that much and hardly remember it.

Unfortunately they don't give artists like Martyn or the equally excellent Roy Harper a chance. A real shame!
It is Always time for some John Martyn. Just love the guys work. From Solid Air through One World to his cover of "Hey Mister"
Ah the memories. A summer’s evening, slightly toasted, listening to John Martyn. Great days.

Languorous and sublime - an instant chill.
❤ your reaction - the album is a true classic - beautiful songs......
Thanks so much Darktake :)
This is such a relaxing album to listen to. I discovered it over 50 years ago and I still love it. Every song is worthy of its place on the album.
Laid back jazz folk classic. Superb song.
Love JM, good choice
A pleasant tune. :D
Great album!

The beginning is vaguely familiar to 'Old Man', but all similarity ends there. John Martyn is an unique artist that you patently know naff all about!
JM poops on Neil Young, sorry to say. Love Neil but John was on another level to most
