I think the fires represent the many crises in society that we ignore on a daily basis. The homelessness, the crime, lost love, and the loneliness we see in the eyes of commuters on their way to work. The isolation we feel in a corporate society of consumerism and poverty. So normally, this music was made in tribute to Daron's brother, who died in a fire.

I think the fires show how no matter what's going on we have to continue on. It starts with one or two fires until it's almost the whole city. Almost like pain you hide, but eventually it's truly overwhelming but you continue on and deal with it. I myself didn't find anyone who noticed I wasn't ok. So you just internalize and hopefully make it out
Toxicity, Aerials, Sugar, Prison Song, BYOB, Hypnotize, Question!, Spiders, Deer Dance, War? Are all songs I would consider. Or just listen straight through the Toxicity album. It is the pinnacle of Nu metal.

Just literally any song from any album, you're going to hit a banger. Holy mountains, soldier side, sad statue lost in hollywood, tentative, cigaro are just some more really good songs
Their vocal harmony is unmatched in its feel
Serj and Daron are probably the best vocal pairing ever!
Have you heard Judith by A Perfect Circle? The lead singer I believe is the lead singer from Tool. I think that is a damn near perfect rock song. Especially when you about the back story
So this was written by their lead guitarist. One of few songs where he was the lead singer instead of Serj. He didn't like this song and didn't want to show it to the band, but they convinced him to do it.
As I said in the other comment though, Toxicity is probably their best song and best album (its the album Chop Suey is on).
IMO Toxicity is def not their best song (still probably top 10 though) but the whole album is indeed fantastic
Their best album was their studio debut in 1998.
Toxicity is definitely the best album Rick Ruben produced and it shows why he's the goat
The video for Spiders is a really good one and Serj does some really amazing vocals on that track. Forest IMO is their best song, so much energy. Honestly any song they have is an absolute banger but specifically off the Toxicity album, that album was revolutionary!
Hard to go wrong with SOAD. Boom! is one of my favorite protest songs of all time.
They have a special place in my heart. They were the first poster I ever hung up in my room 😂 Aerials is my favorite! Along with Prison Song. You should check out Serj’s solo work!

System Of a Down is another band, like Tool that sets itself apart from other metal bands. very unique, and there's an art to even their hardest and heaviest songs.. Soldier Side is one of my favorite SOAD songs. Also has a sad vibe to it. I think you'll enjoy! :D

Prison song is a great one to check out. Way ahead of its time and shows more of system’s political side which is a theme in many of their songs. Also recommend “deer dance” with the lyrics
Aerials and Spiders! Both are a definite must, even if you don't make a video of your first reaction.
Glad to see this song got the focus, it's such a vibe and entirely distinct from the rest of their catalog
The way this uhh, intermission track(?) leads into the next one (Dreaming) is the 1-2 punch, honestly they should be reviewed together

My favorite SOAD song is Holy Mountains, which is about the Armenian genocide.
Don’t stick with just their singles, all of their albums have some killer deep tracks. Lost in Hollywood, Soldier Side (outro), Sad Statue, This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I’m on This Song, Mr. Jack, Mind, Suggestions, Jet Pilot, Deer Dance… pretty much their entire catalog now that I think of it.
I'm happy to hear that you are digging SOAD! One of their best singles was "B.Y.O.B.", although I love the manic energy of "Chic 'N Stu".
Toxicity is, imo their best song.
SoD have many different songs.
The slower is "Aerials", similar like Chop Suey is "Toxicity", and even faster and crazier is "B.Y.O.B."
I recommmend you to react at least to these three songs.
But my most favorite is probably Chop Suey. But I am always listening the whole albums from SoD.
System tracks I love that are probably less recommended but are some of my favorites:
Soil - crazy emotional Rollercoaster, very fast and high energy
Streamline - just amazing riffs in this track
Question! - this is a ballad type slower song at parts anyway
"Question!" or "Spiders" for next one :D

It isn't even one of my favorite Songs by them, it is an okish song, but that's it. Compared with other songs from SOAD it is even a boring one, at least to me.

Mr Jack, prison song, intervision, they also have an awesome Black Sabbath cover of snow blind, it's a Black Sabbath cover album with different metal bands doing Sabbath songs in tribute, it's great

Dude it depends on what you're wanting to hear. Something hard and up tempo, sugar or BYOB, something melodic and yet so captivating, spiders for sure.

This is one of my personal favorites from SOAD. This is primarily the normal backup singer which makes it feel much different from most of their other songs. Others I’d recommend would be Toxicity, BYOB, and Aerials
If no one has mentioned it the one singing here isn't the lead singer if you couldnt tell, it's actually their bass player/back-up vocalist but man has pipes to be a lead honestly
Barely even breaking the surface of system on this track, its a good one but damn this isnt even close to the epicness that is SOAD!
I had their chopsewy cd in highschool. I love this band🤩 This song is on that CD. It's not a new song. 😆 That CD has all the different energy levels. 🤩🥰

This song brings back many memories of when my boyfriend of 5 yrs moved out while I was at work in 2010 and moved to another state. At that time, I was devastated, but eventually I realized it was the best thing that ever happened to me. A yr later, I met a great man, a yr and half later had a child, and now am living my best life. It was a blessing in disguise. Truly it was.
