Air New Zealand NZ8851 : Flying from Nelson to Christchurch

It was time to head to Christchurch for the New Year's Eve celebrations so I was eager to fly aboard Air New Zealand on their 15 years old De Havilland Canada Dash 8 Q300, ZK-NEF (in the old livery).
Arriving at Nelson Airport which had a very modern aesthetic as it was recently renovated, we checked in and retrieved our boarding passes before watching aircraft activity on the apron. There were plenty of Q300s and I was speculating if we were going to fly on a Q300 with the older or the newer livery. In the end, it was the former. We were supposed to board at Gate 6 but due to some unknown reason, it was changed to Gate 5. Boarding was prompt and I settled in Seat 6D. As the crew made their announcements, the engines powered up with the riveting roar of a turboprop before we taxied to the runway and took off towards Christchurch. Water and cookies were served a short while later and before I knew it, we were on approach and we arrived into Christchurch. The plane taxied and parked at Gate 10 right after. The flight was great for what we expected and I'd be keen to fly aboard another turboprop in the near future. The grand finale is fast approaching and I hope to see you then! So cool to see those Teal tails again. Just saw the last one today ZK-NEO. Also I dont think i've seen Nelsons Tarmac so full of Q300's its crazy!. Good vid mate!

I still prefer the old blue/green livery over the blk/wht, it is much more calming and speaks more of nature, the blk/wht is too stark. And what a great little terminal Nelson has.
