Yeah, I agree. It’s more different than the A320 international / domestic configuration differences. It’s a real shame that these aircraft are currently not flying (the engines are being prioritised for the international NEOs) - it’ll be great to have them back in service

Very nice review! I've had one flight on the A321 & had a seat way down the back. When you're seated there the plane looks & sounds a lot bigger than the A320 neos.
Thanks! They certainly are long… dual boarding (front and rear) makes a real difference in the time it takes to board and disembark, hopefully you got to get off using the back door, which has the added bonus of getting a close up look at the plane!

@@ardmore0017 well, that was exciting! They had a mechanical that meant 60 people, who were checked in and at the gate, were declined travel! It then took an hour to get all their bags off. I almost missed my next flight! This review is going to be great, haha!

@@kiwiflyernz I really hope I can do the situation justice - I’m not sure I got the announcement and the waiting passengers reaction, I have so much footage to sort through, but I should get a feel for it in the next week or so. I have the 8 flights from this trip, plus I’m scheduled to fly a few domestic routes I’ve not reviewed before in the next few months - I’m going to be super busy!!

I was waiting too… it seemed to be taking ages! Probably because I’m working on too many at once, but the process is the process, and it seems to be delivering so I’m not going to tinker too much with it!
I was recently fortunate enough to fly on this gorgeous aircraft in June from Auckland to Queenstown. An experience I will never forget!
Isn’t it great? I know it’s ‘just another plane’, but it’s also not like other planes, and I really like it too!

I was in Welly last week. Weather looked about the same then too. The accent of the pilot threw me there. Another great video. The DC3 was a nice addition. Pats to Murphy.
I hope Wellington was kind to you, and thanks for the positive feedback, nice to know I’m still doing ok. I’m pretty sure the DC3 was Betsy, but I couldn’t be sure so didn’t label it, I was excited about seeing it puttering away though - really great that they can keep it airworthy. Will pass on the pats - he’s quite partial to belly rubs, so I’ll throw in one of those too.

I really liked it! I mean, I have a bit of a thing for planes in general, but I especially liked this one!

don't they use the A320 for the wellington - Auckland flight?
It’s mostly A320s, but they have a few A321s in a domestic configuration that they use for the route. The domestic configuration A321s, including the one in this review, are currently parked up as their engines are being used on the international configuration A320s and A321s for short haul international routes (Australia and the Pacific). Once the engine supply issues are resolved the domestic A321s will be back in service.

Yes. There are currently three, my memory is that there’s another one coming. Due to the worldwide engine shortages not all of them are flying right now (I believe they are prioritising the international neos), but they must like the All Black one, as it’s still flying!
Is Murohy named after Murphy Lee the rapper?
No way am I cool enough to have thought of that! We made a short list as a family and voted, and ‘Murphy’ was the winner.
The domestic ones are that different from the normal ones. They just removed the tv screens.
Yes, and they also removed some toilets in the middle - which they replaced with three more seats.
