Can’t wait to watch it lol I am commenting before even watching the video. I am excited because I use to be a flight attendant on Dash8-300 for Perimeter aviation.

Yes another trip report! I really enjoyed this one and the math of working out the aircraft operating costs, definitely want the ATR42 as a replacement but never want to see those Q300's retired 😪. I've nearly finished editing my video of flying 6 flights in a day and I'm thinking of doing a voice-over, what do you use for your voiceovers?

    • @SupersonicKiwi
      @SupersonicKiwi  2 роки тому +2

Thanks! I was a bit nervous about how much I went on about the ATR42s - I'm pleased it came across ok!! View stats and like ratio will let me know if I've over-stepped on the babbling, haha. I'm looking forward to your 6 flights in a day video - I'm sure it'll be a cracker.
I record my voiceovers directly into Premiere - I've seen a ton of tutorials that recommend using Audition to tune and clean them up, but I find I have enough to do without adding that step, and the insertion into Premiere isn't as integrated as it is with After Effects. I have dedicated voiceover tracks and apply a single band compressor and a voice enhancer to them in the Audio Track Mixer, which saves me heaps of time (I used to spend forever adjusting levels and the like on each voiceover segment).
I have a Shure SM58 mic and a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 analogue to digital converter, but a decent USB mic would be fine. I prefer the cardioid pickup as it's more forgiving with background noise and microphone placement, and have a Rode NT-USB, which is a great option, and I have used it for re-recording segments if I'm on the road, but I'm used to the tone of the SM58/Scarlett 2i2.
Javier Mercedes has a good video on this: ua-cam.com/video/TAGM17Zwn3I/v-deo.html

I don’t regret anything I’ve purchased but it isn’t cheap and now I can’t stop!! It sounds like you have some great flights coming up - looking forward to watching your videos about it.

Thank you so much. I quite like plane rides, and I really like a window seat - I love to look out as the countryside unfolds, and I try to capture that in my videos, so I’m super happy that you appreciated it. Thanks for watching!

Haha nice Video! Also what camera is this, the footage looked amazing

    • @SupersonicKiwi

Thanks so much, and thanks again for being so awesome about me including footage of you doing your thing at NZTG. I use a few different cameras and am still working on my combinations to try to get the most usable footage. For the planespotting sequence for this video I used my Canon M6 with a Canon 55-200 zoom. I like the M6 because it’s small and light for travel and has reasonable features - I started life in photography so like features that aren’t all that useful for video, although I’m not sure there would be much else in that price range for video. I find stabilisation tricky for longer shots, I might have to start packing a tripod…

Haha! I definitely need to step up to a camera 😬 my videos would look even better! I will look at those options 👍👍

@@AviationNZTG It's a big investment, so take your time. Maybe see if someone will lend you one or possibly rent one for a day to make sure it's right for you. I'm pretty sure I'm making the same now with my 3 action cameras and numerous accessories as I was when I was just using my iPhone 5 and my old D7 DSLR - zero dollars and zero cents per [insert any timeframe here].

Another great video! Also loved the Q300 planespotting :) In Air NZ future fleet plan there is no Atr-42 it is just the Q300 and the ATR which is surprising.

    • @SupersonicKiwi

Thank you so much! They will have to replace them eventually, and as much as I’d like that to be with ATR-42s I will miss the Q300s when they are gone.

If you want a good seat with the engine, you should try 5A or 5D on the Q300

Thanks! I get torn between having a clear view of the countryside and getting a great view of of the engine and landing gear. Maybe I should book one of my children in 5 and get them to film the engine and gear!

Thanks @MinAviation7 - I always worry when I try something a little bit different, like the fast cuts in the intro to this video and the slightly more up tempo music, that it's going to land a bit flat - I'm so glad you liked it!
