    Jeff you are so right with draw weight for a trad bow . Years ago I used to shoot 80lb compounds, so I figured 65lb trad bow would work, as you could imagine, ended up way too heavy to shoot with any pleasure. Since then I’ve collected more trad bows than I care to admit, looking for that magic one, but all have a 53-54lb draw weight at 27”. Another thing most new trad archers don’t realize is their draw length can shrink close to 2” from a release to shooting with fingers. The best thing for guys to do is try to actually draw or shoot different bows to see which grip they like the best. That’s why the metal riser ilf bows, seem to be the best choice, you can adjust draw weight, tiller style, grip angle, center shot, put on different limbs, and usually can use a variation on differently spined arrows. Thanks for all you share here, it really helps the new guys! Bob

    Great video, Jeff! I wish I had seen a video like this before when I started shooting many moons ago. I'm 6'4", 29.5 in draw, and have pretty much always shot a 58" bow. Now I'm shooting 30# bows instead of 40#+ and at 62' / 68" depending on the bow. Probably one of my favorite shooters is my Sage, which is now a 62" thanks to a limb swap. Easier to shoot and my accuracy has improved with the changes to my bows.

    When measuring tiller on a one piece bow, you said that you have “a mark” on the limb. Are you measuring down from each limb tip equally? Do you like to stay a certain distance away from the riser flare?

    One of your best videos Jeff! I was just reading about the Oberon longbow. I enjoyed your discussion instinctive shoot-ability. I'm always wondering which bow naturally points where I look the best of all bows out there. I killed my first ever deer with a recurve Sunday using a 50# Bear Kodiak Magnum. I shot at two deer actually because the first deer was a complete miss. I couldn't believe my eyes. The second deer was a killing shot. So this made me think I need to start using a 60" or longer bow because I suffer badly from buck fever. Like you say short bows require perfect form and sometimes that can be tough in a hunting situation.

    Hello Sir, I would like to know your opinion on a snap-shot bow for the extra heavy bowfishing arrows. I bowfish with the Bear Montana longbow, but I find it a bit too long to shoot from my kayak. Do you have any insight on a better grip style, kind of bow, etc... that is best for spur-of the -moment shots that is required for heavy bowfishing arrows? I guess what i am asking is a flatter grip more suited to a faster set-release loose than a molded grip?

    I order a #45 lb Sanlida royal x8 60” recurve and a #50 lb Sanlida royal x8 68” longbow.
    I shoot the recurve lights out. It’s phenomenal for me. It’s a loud compared to the longbow (I’m shooting 3 under so I guess it’s the tillar) However, I can’t hit with the longbow. Tend to slap my left lower forearm with it 75% of the time.

    I own the royal x8, and the only thing i dont like about the bow is the grip. I have big hands, and it likes to torque. it's too narrow for my liking. 1. Is it hard/damaging on the bow?
    2. Would an elevated rest help the tiller problems a little bit?

    Thanks so much for your help and videos ❤

    • @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
      @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998  9 місяців тому +1

      Well first no shooting 3 under doesn’t hurt the bow at all, yes an elevated rest will help if the bow is really positive and depending on the bow like some black hunters you can certainly try a limb swap but that’s a rare case, I’d just go elevated rest and slightly heavier arrows and it should be good assuming you’re wanting to shoot a very positive tiller bow 3 under.

      Not really, I actually run a 5/8” above center on all mine no matter how they’re tillered and can shoot them either way without any ramping off the shelf but it’s also based on draw length, the longer the draw, the higher it may need to be and every bow tunes slightly different but with a slightly heavier arrow and the right string any bow can get quiet shooting either way, I’ve tried string walking and it really makes a noisy shot lol

    Jeff - I know this has nothing to do with this video, but you need to address what's happening with Sanlida Archery. Both 'Nusensei' and 'Jake Kaminski' on UA-cam, have just put out videos regarding their terrible and predatory business model. It was so bad for Jake that he has asked everybody to boycott their company. I know this is not your fault Jeff and you are very genuine and creditable. However, because you have loudly and happily endorsed their company and products, I am concerned that this does now not look good for your image. You really need to make a comment on your take on all of this and hopefully disendorse them as well. I personally was trying to track down one of their bows from Australia, so I could get one, but now I certainly will not be.
