    Jeff, thanks for sharing your process on finding hunt-able bucks. Looks like a neat place. I wasn’t surprised when you found that camera… same here in PA. I moved 2yrs ago in to PA and find good hunting public areas has been harder than I expected. Keep walking and keep looking. I jumped a large buck several weeks ago n a very unexpected place and am trying to pattern his non-rut movements now. May tge Lord blest our efforts.

    New subscriber here, so happy a friend of mine shared this with me! But I’ve a question, in those mud flats how do you access to your tree? Straight shot to it, leaving your canoe on plain sight or parallel to the spot leaving the canoe out of sight? Thanks!

      @@instinctiveaddictionarcher8998 thanks for your instructional videos Im new to trad and sharing your experience has helped me immensely! I heard you mention that camera you saw on public land around wheeler…. I did not know this until recently but there is a TVA public lands map that shows a lot of those creek channels around wheeler actually fall on TVA land and not federal. Im over in Scottsboro which is why I seen the map looking for camping spots. If that part of the land was close to the main lake the guy might actually be legal. I could be way wrong too but thought I would mention it. Again thanks for your vids brother!

    Be careful walking mudflats, especially at flood control lakes where they drop the lake water level fairly fast. The mud can be a foot deep when the receding water first comes off of it, and you can get into trouble real quick trying to walk cross it. Look for gravel, or rocky lake bed areas to access woods from a boat. Also can be a nightmare trying to get a deer out across mudflats when you can barely walk across them without dragging a deer.

      @@timbo749 thanks and I’m not sure if it was him or not but I did get a really nice 10 pointer approximately 1/4 mile from this exact spot and honestly I only spray down with scent killer before walking in and nothing else because I’m convinced if you’re down up wind you’re busted no matter what, I just don’t want deer to smell where I’ve walked in 👍🏻

    Hi, what are the bow only WMA in AL? I didn't know there were bow only public lands (except during bow season, of course, when they all are -- ha!) Thanks!

    • @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
      @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes sir Wheeler is a federal refuge and they generally go by state laws other than they limit it to bow only other than a short flintlock season, Seven Mile Island on the Tennessee River chain offers great bowhunting only opportunities as well, there are several others adopted into the forever wild programs that way but most WMA’s and open permit public lands allow gun hunting 👍🏻

    Jeff I know you’re trying to be helpful, and you are. But you’re giving out way too much information and it is not exactly hard to tell exactly where you’re at especially when your say the public land you’re on. As a fellow hunter who has harvested deer from the the very spots you’re showing, I wish you wouldn’t but that’s your own choice. Your descriptions are too accurate and you’re blowing up the spot. Especially when you show and say where you killed a nice buck. I’ve seen more than one canoe/kayak hunter in that launch spot every weekend and another 5 cars at the gate to the fields. I know there are no secret spots on wheeler but come on man!
    If you’re blessed to hunt weekdays thats great but blowing up a spot means weekends get crowded for us weekend warriors.
    Hope to meet you out there some day. We hunt the same spots. Kind regards.

    • @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
      @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998  10 місяців тому +1

      I completely understand and that wasn’t the intention at all being that 99% of the channel subscribers and viewers aren’t local guys who can visually identify the spots and will probably never travel to Alabama to hunt traditional but yes I’m aware of the massive influx of public hunters in the past couple of years and I certainly don’t want to cause you or anyone else any harm or give away any exact locations but I’m all about sharing my experiences with the traditional hunting community it’s who I am and I love bringing it real.

    These UA-cam hero’s are going to keep name off hunting land until there’s not one spot left worth to hunt.
    Could name 4 or 5 personalities right now that have already ruined several pieces of public land but hey if it makes you look good on UA-cam go for it I guess.
    Then come back here and complain to us when you have to fight ppl out of your stand.
    All these guys could still make informational videos and never give up all this information.
    No I don’t hunt wheeler but that’s not the point. It’s obvious all these guys care about is making a name for themselves regardless how it effects anyone else.

    • @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
      @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes sir I completely understand however Alabama for one has a total of 721,000 acres of public land to hunt and several being limited to bow only which has relatively tough access and most people aren’t even utilizing the recourses we have and lots of other states have great opportunities as well so my point is that good hunters especially hard core bow hunters aren’t a threat to the massive amounts of land available.

    • @gcr0003
      @gcr0003 10 місяців тому +1

      Yea I had a UA-camr blow up another water access NA public land spot. Of course the deer are still there but it went from never running into anyone to fighting to get to spot first, and even people hunting on top of you even when you get there first. That’s not what I want my hunting experience to be.
      I actually killed my first deer right where Jeff is showing. I know there are no secret spots on wheeler but that doesn’t mean spots don’t get blown up. Videos like this don’t help.
      And none of this land is hard to get to. You can walk in from the north, east, and west. And canoe in from the north or south. You’re not getting away from people on wheeler, everyone and their brother has a canoe.
      I know it’s not jeff’s intention, just a byproduct of helping people and showing them the ropes
      Regardless, have a great season.
