Thank you for the reviews. I’m looking into getting into bow hunting and have been looking at the legit maxx. Despite the tuning you had to do I think it’s a great option for someone like me.
Idk, I would recommend going a little higher quality. If we were friends I would push you to get the whitetail for the extra $200. I’ve bought 2 entry level bows and could have just put that towards a nicer bow
I have tried the v max and quickly went back to the old style biscuit. The adjustment for windage on the v max is way to much extra for my shooting. Something else to break.mine did while setting up at bow shop.Put new one on and still liked old biscuit better.
I was really leaning towards the legit maxx but now im not so sure with all the extra tunning you had too. Im not sure if shops in my area will help with all that. Thanks for the detailed video. I havent bow hunted with a compound for 5 years & im wanting to get back at it again!
Good thing to remember is that not every bow will arrive in the same condition as PJ's did. Some might not require as much tuning, and some might even require more in certain cases. Any good Pro Shop will have the ability to help you through the tuning process in some capacity - I'd recommend just reaching out to a few to make sure. Hoping you're able to get help with all of that and we are glad you enjoyed the video! You can always call us, too, if you ever have any tuning questions.
@ oh yes definitely, it just amazes me on how far the industry has come. Innovation, materials and definitely inflation! Funny thing is. I would rather spend more money on my bow and equipment than a rifle. 🤣🤣🤣
As my lovely wife likes to say, "Shooting archery is better than shooting guns because if I am a good archer then I get the arrow back - but no matter how good I am with a rifle, I'll never get that bullet back."
I wish they would just get rid of those string grubs and use real speed nocks. Those grubs create so much vibration and noise at the shot, and slows down the arrow.
Those grubs are supposed to replace speeds nocks, on all dual cam, binary cam, or hybrid cam bows, I have actually seen increases in speed by putting things like this on the string. On bows that already have speed nocks on the string, Adding a Bow Jax11 string silencer 4-1/4” from axle does not slow down the arrow speed. Any rubber added there reduces noise and vibration
@@renurenovationsllc7780 I tested my own Alaskan XT and Whitetail Maxx speeds with the grubs and after I replaced them with speed nock, shrink tubing, and cat whisker silencers. Both both shot quieter and were 3 fps faster than with the string grubs. So, what you think and what I KNOW are two entirely different things.
I have never played with the grubs, they may be hard rubber and not do much for vibration. I agree that The whiskers will always be quieter than a grub or a Bow Jax speed sleeve style vibration reducing “nock” replacement. All I KNOW is that I have played a lot with nocks vs speed sleeves, Bow Jax11 silencers and even limbsaver leeches. On one bow, I only lost 1 fps going from nocks to ONLY string leeches. So every bow is slightly different.
I’m not sure what it is about Bear but I just can’t shoot them accurately. Not sure if it’s the grip or just me but I’ve owned several over the last few years and it just doesn’t work. I love them for their price points and that they still think of everyone when they make a bow but just doesn’t work for me.
I would rather but the bow with nothing on it. Then add accessories that are my liking. Most of the hunters I know wouldn’t use ANY of the package items. I love my bear bows way more than a Mathews I was given as a present.
When people know what they like and what they'll want, then maybe the bow kits aren't really for them. More of a "this will get you in the field without hassle" type of thing in most cases, or for younger archers. Glad to hear you love your Bear bows.
@ I would say for 90% of guys regardless of their experience level would rather pay for the better item, than having the aggravation of taking off the old one and replacing it. Was the same with my tracker boat. They threw a “fish finder” in the boat to say it had one. The first thing I did as 90% of others did was rip it out and replace it. I’d rather paid a few hundred dollars more and saved me the aggravation.
I swear if i ever won the lottery i would buy out every single Archery company on the planet and i would immediately start charging people fairly for everything.. ive been tryin to get where i can afford a bow for 2 years now. everything is just so damn expensive for the average person its too much. Its a shame only rich people get to have hobbies and positive things like archery in their life
I am sorry that you are feeling controlled and restricted by the current archery environment - we know that things are tough for a ton of people nowadays. I'm not commenting on what is fair pricing for any of the higher-end bows and accessories (I have no idea of their overhead/manufacturing/shipping) because we really don't have any idea in most cases. Having said that, there are a bunch of decent budget-friendly options out there where you can get a full setup for a few hundred dollars - at least just to start off. You can always call into our customer service team and we would absolutely be more than happy to help guide you through getting started in this sport for what your budget might allow. Touching on the last part of your comment, I hope that you are just upset at the apparent cost to get into the sport at the top end and that you do actually find accessible hobbies and general positivity to be attainable in your life. Believe me, I know all too well how expensive living can be in the modern world and how it can feel even hopeless - but I like to think that, even though I'd love to drive a new mustang down a backroad, maybe a nice walk in the woods with my wife would be even more fulfilling - and God knows one of those two is much cheaper. Just food for thought.
@@LancasterArcherySupply im sorry I know the way I said that sounded like I was just whining because I cant afford a new toy...but it wasn't even really just about me , as some who managed to recover from a 13 yr long opiate problem..I'm grateful for that and just to be alive.. but in me tryin to find something other than just work to focus on when i have no wife or kids .. i wanted to start shooting and hunting again but after 13 years comin back and seein how expensive everything is now , its just shocking... there so many people out there in same boat where having something positive to do n to focus on would help them through it tremendously but most can't afford it bc sporting equipment in general is so much now for average people. Clearly I can't change it or do anything about any of it bc I would again have to be rich to start some sort of program for people. And as far as programs go, sports and hobbies aren't as important as say food and health care . I was jus thinking outloud that i wish that I could do something like that..At the end of the day none of it really matters I'm not in the position to help anyone with anything . No matter how much I want to
I'd say if you managed to recover from a 13-year opiate problem, you can probably do a lot more to help people than you give yourself credit for - whatever form that help may take. Also, getting into archery simply for the recreational enjoyment can be achieved for just a bit of extra cash if you don't mind a simple recurve bow. Something to think about if all you're looking for is casual enjoyment for now.
The Rth package from bear is great for budget minded people. Over time you can make small up grades (arrow rest, strings ect.) and still kill deer. I just bought the adapt Rth with a half dozen arrows and broad heads, changed the arrow rest and spent under $800.
Bear has terrible cams and you end up getting stuck with an ok bow that consistently chews through strings, derails will generally is just crap. Get their customers support involved and all they do is tell you we know it's a design flaw you just have to deal with it sorry here's a new string. Will never buy a bear bow again. Good luck.
Awesome video and product review PJ Rylie always love watching the Products videos! And reviews year after year!
Nice to watch a review where the guys not talking down about Bear bows.
Must not make as much per bow.
Yah, they are affordable and people buy them and do well with them. But I’m sure that doesn’t give businesses enough kick back lol

As a wise man once said, "If the classic whisker biscuit ain't broke, don't fix it."
I'm just curious do you usually change how your gripping the bow to change your paper tear?
No you don't want to change your grip. If you are consistent then tune the bow to you.

Nice updates Bear Archery. Too much noise for me though. I will stick to your trad bows for now.
I’m laughing right now. My first Mathew’s was the Z Lite. It was a flag ship bow when it came out in 96-97 and it was $400.
Take into account 102% inflation since '96 and apply that to the whole market chain and there you go, current flagship pricing.

Just picked up a legend 30
Ummm both the legend 30 & the Whitetail INT are listed as in store only. Might want to correct that in the video.
You are correct! Correction added to the description. Thanks!

I shot a Bear for ten years. But they don't make their top end bows in longer draw lengths. Sorry, Freddy. Had to move on

Chat with Chuck Adams. He doesn’t seem to have any trouble taking one world record animal after another with the current Bear Alaskan XT. 🤷🏻♂️
I want to know about the Alaskan
