I know that face all too well. I was abused by my mother for the majority of my life, then my stepmother as well. The abuse was verbal, emotional, physical, and psychological. The face Amber has in this courtroom, the way she lifts her chin just a bit, and the corners of her mouth slightly droop, and especially that unblinking stare - it’s all exactly the face the women who’ve abused me had. It’s the telltale narcissist face and I know it all too well. It’s as if by doing that face/posture she’s asserting dominance.
Then there’s the slow turning of the head, the way she speaks/her tone, everything about her demeanor.
The infinite excuses for every question, the self-victimizing, the gaslighting, my god this woman is the same exact breed of woman I’ve dealt with for so many years.
The infinite versions of Johnny Amber always has. There’s ‘the monster’ and ‘opiate johnny’ and ‘alcohol johnny’ and ‘the johnny I love’ and so on and so on. My mother did that to me too, there was a me that was possessed, a me that was an abuser, and to make me cry she’d call me her sweet baby boy to make me feel helpless and nostalgic over the love she used to give me and the innocence of my younger years.
My mother would always push me to the point of snapping so she could turn it against me and say I’m abusing her. She masterfully manipulated me to the point where I’d break and begin to cry - then she’d force me to stop crying so I go straight to anger, then I’d end up yelling something I didn’t mean to say or something totally tame but she’d take it out of context and switch it around and say I’m abusing her.
She’s even gone as far as to gaslight me with gaslighting itself. I woke up one morning to her crying and shouting, she said to me “I just read what gaslighting is - oh my god that’s what you do to me”.
This woman is the same exact breed of woman I’ve come to know so well, it’s really hard to watch these at times but I do just because I want to believe there’s hope for survivors like me.
Edit: I wasn’t expecting any responses. Thank you all so much and I hope you all are recovering well. I myself am safe now, I fled and now live with my wonderful girlfriend who loves me and treats me very well. Now that I’m on the other side of the abuse though the trauma is hitting me hard lately so it’s really nice to read all your replies. Thank you so much ♡

The most damning thing in all of this to me is the fact that she is constantly answering to the Jury. If someone was slamming your character repeatedly without end you would at least look them in the eyes and answer the question a few times to establish that you're telling them a fact. However she usually glares at the accuser before answering to the jury. To me that establishes she doesn't like what's being said so she's trying to connect to the jury members because she knows talking to the lawyer is a lost cause. Anyone unaware with how a manipulator works they will judge responses from the people they feel are most likely to "bend" what they're saying in favor of them. This is exactly what AH is doing, judging the reception of the jury to make her statements have as much impact as possible. She knows how bad she looks but at this point I think she knows she has to try and hang the jury. *Anyone unaware of what a hung jury is this is the definition: A jury that, despite honest attempts, is unable to reach a verdict by the required voting margin.*

Also I heard that it's normal for people to look at the jury and lawyers tell their clients to do so but I don't think that makes any sense for this case. It makes her less believable because of the topic at hand. I'm only mentioning it here because she could be looking at the jury because of advice from her lawyers and not because she wants to. Maybe her lawyers want her to hang the jury. Who knows tho.

If you watch back most of the other witnesses including JD it's the opposite. 90% answering the questions to the lawyers, 10% glancing at the jury. Never in my 62 years of life have I ever seen someone that is such a blatant liar. And assumes that by looking at the jury that the lie will go over better. Over and over again she's asking the jury to dismiss all the other witness testamony, believe that they are all lying, and of course she's the only one that is telling the truth. What kind of ego does this take?

Please, dear god, as a survivor of domestic abuse, it's so clear that Johnny Depp has been abused at the hands of Amber Heard all the way along. My heart is racing, if she wins this case, I will be broken. At least in the justice system. I have been following this case, watching every minute from day one. I don't really like to follow media, but I got sucked in (like many) to this trial. I see so many parallels to my own life, and this case clearly represents a larger issue. I once lived in France, as a nanny, and entered an abusive relationship. Even though I was "just a nanny," I always received a lot of compliments on my art throughout my life and was overall confident and content to be one of those "poor starving artists." I had a beautiful short-lived relationship there, but later things changed. At the beginning, I felt that same energy and potential I always felt in myself, until my abuser took hold of my mind and body. Verbal abuse started month 3 and rapidly progressed into physical violence shortly after. My parents had both died of suicide, something that I always kept to myself, and naturally had a hard time sharing with people. Over time, through his charm, and a seemingly (or what really felt like a unique deep connection), I trusted him and shared this information with him. The first verbal abuse was him turning to me one night and telling me my parents had committed suicide because they were losers and had given up on life. Shortly after the physical abuse began. On one occasion he gave me a concussion and the other I locked myself in the bathroom convinced (and likely right) that he would kill me or otherwise damage physically worse than before, I was vulnerable because I was still trying to learn French, and he slowly isolated me from my friends and classes. And please, this is important to note in regards to abusers-- on day one of dating, he literally polished my shoes ((even when I resisted)), because, in his words, I was "a princess") and cooked me a gorgeous meal. Later on, I was ashamed to be a victim, I had promised myself I would never end up like my mother who became a social "ghost" after a horrific abusive relationship that she only shared with her sister (my aunt, who would be the only one to tell me of this, not my own mother who could never seem to be ripped away from her PTSD).

Amber obviously took in how successful and effective Shannon Currie’s mannerisms were and at how effortlessly Shannon answered the questions being fired at her from Amber’s own lawyer. It’s clear that Amber now is trying to answer in a very similar way to Currie - even using similar sentences/words and pauses ( for example “That is correct” “That is incorrect” ). One major difference, however, it’s working against Amber because it highlights her own lies even more clearly.
