I love when he ask Tully “are you a good guy or a bad guy?” ...Tully totally kayfabes it and says “I am what I am” and “idc if they boo or cheer, long as i go to the bank”...very clever.
The more I lament the loss of the past era of Pro Wrestling, the more I've come to grips with the reality that social media ,& wrestling as we knew it back then don't mix. It simply ran it's coarse.
scottjulie27 Flair used to come to my dad's restaurant back in the early 80's in Charlotte. Dad told me how laid back he was. And he could put away some groceries
Very calm, and subdued. He must have had to really worked on toning things down here. We all know how he was-Going at it, a thousand miles an hour, and just being intense! Here, though, we see a quiet type of intensity.
He was perfect for it. That’s why they put he & Arn together, as The Enforcers, when they were in The Dangerous Alliance together. I always wondered why he never WAS a Horseman.
Great find, thanks for sharing. Tully is pretty likeable here, all smile and seeming genuinely happy to be there, I was expecting him to cut a heel promo any second lol. Great stuff. 👍
The one that got the closet to cutting a true Heel promo, was Larry Zybysko. I thought, for a little bit, that him and the Referee were gonna get into it-Right there in front of everybody!
During this time period, the AWA and NWA had an uneasy alliance and cooperative agreement, in an attempt to restrict the momentum of the WWF. They were promoting joint cards around this time in the NY metropolitan era. This arraignment fell apart not too long after this taping, over a disagreement on gate receipts for a joint Chicago show.
Before The Formation of The Four Horsemen, Flair vs. Blanchard was a rivalry in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and they had Singles Matches and Tag Team Matches against each other.
tully and baby doll, the greatest wrestler-valet combination in history. other candidates, adria street & miss linda; savage and miss elizabeth. and gorgeous george and jeffries! LOLLL baby doll was the only one who could handle men tho, and that includes jeffries
I know people say Ric has always been Ric... but he was such an effective and calm speaker in his prime. Not the obnoxious senior citizen we know him as today!
Na, Luger was a much better choice than Zbyszko. Larry was too similar to Tully, they both would have overshadowed one another. Luger brought muscles, brought esthetic, brought natural athleticism (as a former football player at 19) to the group and he looked like he could legit take care of a Nikita or the Road Warriors. Lex was a great fit.
I was fortunate enough to workout at a gym in Atlanta that many of the wrestlers used back in the late 70's. Worked out with a young Ric Flair a time or two. I enjoyed wrestling but had been privy to the carny aspect of the business before my teen years. Many are to young to remember the days when there were only 3 TV networks. With the explosion in the early 80's of telecommunications it was inevitable that some promoter would try and move from just having a territory to wanting the entire country. In order for that to happen wrestling had to appeal to a wider audience and for that to occur, kayfabe had to die. Not saying it was right, but it was inevitable.
This was AM Phila first time out with wally kennedy as host after dave Roberts and Claire carter left to do other things. The Reason Ric Mentions the Spectrum is because the Spectrum was the sole entity for Wrestling in Philly for decades, until the NWA came to the Civic center which is strange as the management of the Spectrum also managed the Civic Center. The WWF had a sole contract with the Spectrum .
Baby Doll, and Missy Hyatt. Two of the most beautiful Women to ever be in the NWA, later to be dubbed WCW. Both of them are my top picks for the most beautiful Women in Wrestling-PERIOD!
Yeah, since I posted that I've learned that there was a short-lived wrestling company called Pro Wrestling USA which combined NWA and AWA wrestlers, it ran for about 2 years in the mid 80's(1984/1985). The wrestlers on here must've been promoting that show I'm not surprised that PW-USA folded shortly after this taping. AWA and NWA were 2 of the 3 main wrestling organizations during this time, there is no way they could've co-existed for that long, there were just too many huge egos involved!!
Flair says Philly is starved for the sight of the real champion. He said the same thing about Bret Hart running with the WWF strap and not drawing money. And now he's friends with him.
How was the host able to get wrestlers from different companies(AWA and NWA) to appear on this show at the same time?? I know there was less hostility between rival companies/territories during this period of time as opposed to the Monday Night Wars era, but I would've thought that having wrestlers from competing companies appearing on the same show IN CHARACTER would be a no-no. Did Larry Zbysko defend the AWA title on that June/1985 show in Philadelphia??
lil funny how ric says that wrestling in philly was always a sell out at the spectrum, well anyone from philly back in the days knows that the spectrum only ran wwf shows, it was the civic center in philly where nwa did shows. actualyl on a few times nwa and wwf would do house shows in philly on the same night, and still do business, thats how over wrestling is in the home of ecw
When is baby doll gonna talk about her and Samantha wearing leather dog collers with a chain with each other when will that get to be really happening with both of you ladies
Will baby doll really hav Samantha in a leather dog coller with a chain and walk in to her hom with Samantha wearing that leather dog coller than her daugther gets to chain hand cuff Samantha
I love when he ask Tully “are you a good guy or a bad guy?” ...Tully totally kayfabes it and says “I am what I am” and “idc if they boo or cheer, long as i go to the bank”...very clever.
I wonder if he says that with his prison ministry gig. i guess that's a payday also.
This is the ABSOLUTE DEFINITION of KayFabe!! Look at how Ric is working it!! I miss the business like it was 30 yrs ago, when I was 13 lol.
Mega Titan - Kaye ?
Facts
i am with you on that bro for sure
Ric was always a pro, he put over the Sport and the Promotion always first...
Time is such a cruel thing.. You never know how great times are till you look back at them.
Larry the Legend deserves a much greater place in the history of Wrestling....damn, he is GOOD
Flair, Tully, Larry Legend selling it like true Kayfabers, Grade A, before social media.
@KEY
Who'd have known that they would all have Baby Doll as a Valet at one time or another
Internet killed the work.
The more I lament the loss of the past era of Pro Wrestling, the more I've come to grips with the reality that social media ,& wrestling as we knew it back then don't mix. It simply ran it's coarse.
It's sad that times change and things can't stay the same.. You never know how good things were till time goes by and you can look back on them.
Love how Larry sticks with kafabee and insults the referee.
In that period, that is the most normal I have ever seen of Ric Flair. :)
scottjulie27 Flair used to come to my dad's restaurant back in the early 80's in Charlotte. Dad told me how laid back he was. And he could put away some groceries
A man of MANY appetites.
Very calm, and subdued. He must have had to really worked on toning things down here. We all know how he was-Going at it, a thousand miles an hour, and just being intense!
Here, though, we see a quiet type of intensity.
@@ronaldshank7589 Because he's not on a wrestling program cutting a promo.
Dude... Flair, Tully, Baby Doll...all on this morning Philadelphia TV show from 1985. Classic, classic stuff. Gotta check it out!
I miss it too. It was only fun when we actually thought Ric hated Dusty and so on. Loved it
@kirby smart you met flair?
Zbyszko would’ve been a really good member of the Horsemen.
He was perfect for it. That’s why they put he & Arn together, as The Enforcers, when they were in The Dangerous Alliance together. I always wondered why he never WAS a Horseman.
I agree.
He was a member for a little bit
@@ericostling4727 Wargames.
Wargames look it up.
Wasn't gonna catch these guys out of character in 1985 - kayfabe was still alive and well.
RIP Dick Woerhle, one of the best refs of all time
Great find, thanks for sharing. Tully is pretty likeable here, all smile and seeming genuinely happy to be there, I was expecting him to cut a heel promo any second lol. Great stuff. 👍
He looked nice and stoned. 😉
The one that got the closet to cutting a true Heel promo, was Larry Zybysko. I thought, for a little bit, that him and the Referee were gonna get into it-Right there in front of everybody!
Baby Doll looks like Vince Neil during the "Shout" era.
omg Dick Woerhle! Never heard him interviewed. Legendary Referee! Very cool.
His New Jersey License Plate Was TV Ref
He also had a vanity plate with “NWA WWF”
AM Philadelphia was such a good show in Philly it beat out the network daytime programming. Made New York envious of the local Philadelphia talent.
Ric’s reaction when Tully said he’d love to get in the ring, with Ric. Lol! Great shit
Great classic old school kayfabe stuff! Thanks for posting.
Ric never wants to give Minnesota and the AWA any recognition for what a factory of great wrestlers they had. Woooo
Yeah verne trained many greats. Shook his hand back in the day, seemed like a nice guy and was legitimately a very tough dude.
@@Kromsmitesyou for sure. And Flair came out of that Verne/Minnesota factory
Check out the guy at 4:47 who could pass for an "Anderson" easily.
Ricardo Coleman 😂
Ricardo Coleman too bad Arn wasn't in this interview. He had the best interview/promo
I wasn't expecting that, man that was funny
The look on Ric's face when Tully said he would love to wrestle him.
Before The Formation of The Four Horsemen, Flair vs. Blanchard was a rivalry in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and they had Singles Matches and Tag Team Matches against each other.
Back in the Good Old Days of Kayfabe! Shot in my Hometown of Philadelphia!
Loved kafabe. Those were the days.
The camera loved Baby Doll and she had a great look in '85. Nickla eventually became Larry Zbyszko's Valet when he was Western States Champ
Flair taking a swipe at Hogan - Philly a WWF town "has been starved of the sight of a real Champion now they'll get one on Jun 12th!".😀
Was Flair taking a shot at Hogan🤣 when he said "real champion"
I love all the answers they all give.
God bless 1985 wrestling. Kayfabe lives!
Oh snap! I thought that the second audience member (5:07) who asked Ric about Magnum T.A. was the Enforcer Arn Anderson, Double A
Hilarious, Zbyszko and the ref jawing at each other. Larry probably flew him from city to city or gambled with him after the matches.
If i remember correctly, I think Referee Dick was in the WWWF back when Larry feuded with Bruno
This is ART.....
“2 OF THE ORIGINAL 4 HORSEMEN RIC FLAIR & TULLY BLANCHARD,ME & DENN LOVE YALL!!!!”💪💪🤑🤑💵💵💸💸💰💰💯🎯👍✌️
tully and baby doll, the greatest wrestler-valet combination in history. other candidates, adria street & miss linda; savage and miss elizabeth. and gorgeous george and jeffries! LOLLL baby doll was the only one who could handle men tho, and that includes jeffries
OMG, this was filmed in my city!!! I had the HUGEST...I MEAN HUGEST crush on Baby Doll so much I am trans and she was a huge inspiration to me.
4:51 "Well when Ole and I joined the Horsemen..."
I know people say Ric has always been Ric... but he was such an effective and calm speaker in his prime. Not the obnoxious senior citizen we know him as today!
I always thought Barry Switzer looked like Dick Woerhle. Great post.
Ric flair and baby doll have the same hair style lol
When your good, you are good & when your bad, your best!!!
Awesomely awesome awesome!! Thanks for sharing!! Just subbed!!
I'll take this calm, collected articulate version of Ric over the screaming lunatic.
He wasn't on a wrestling program, makes a huge difference.
Ric must have not liked Larry too much. They never wrestled or feuded, and Larry would have been a great Horseman instead of Lex Luger!
Larry's gimmick was basically "non-Horseman Horseman".
They were partners in War Games 91
Yes! Larry would have been a perfect horseman to replace Ole.
I gotta ask whats he like
Na, Luger was a much better choice than Zbyszko. Larry was too similar to Tully, they both would have overshadowed one another. Luger brought muscles, brought esthetic, brought natural athleticism (as a former football player at 19) to the group and he looked like he could legit take care of a Nikita or the Road Warriors. Lex was a great fit.
Wally Kennedy from ABC . This was a great upload.
These were the best of times..
Lol the guy in audience looks like Arn Anderson just check it out😂
Ric seems out of his eliminate up on that stage. Larry z was the only one who was still in character.
I think you mean element
Philadelphia in the 80s growing up channel 17, WWW, 2pm on Saturdays and 6:05pm on the Superstation

I saw this show when it aired.
Why is the referee wearing his referee gear LMAO
Great video.
In 1985 was Larry and the Ref under AWA banner? Promo for there cross-promotion for SuperCard’85?
Kayfabe could and would still be alive if the fans allowed it to be. It's simple, Just watch, enjoy the characters and stories...that's it.
You hit the pay window with this babu
This was AM Phila first time out with wally kennedy as host after dave Roberts and Claire carter left to do other things. The Reason Ric Mentions the Spectrum is because the Spectrum was the sole entity for Wrestling in Philly for decades, until the NWA came to the Civic center which is strange as the management of the Spectrum also managed the Civic Center. The WWF had a sole contract with the Spectrum .
Nature Boy Rules 🤙🏄🇺🇸👈🏻
That one guy in the audience asking questions at 4:48 looks like Arn Anderson
HAHAHA!!! I thought the same thing the second I saw that dude. I was waiting for him to ask...."What's causing all this??????????"
great great upload 5 stars
The fan they were interviewing early on is a goof.
did tully only have 1 suit
Amazing that Tully has never wrestled Zbyszko.
Would have loved to see Flair and Zbysko in a cage match!
they would been the ultimate rulebreakers as a team and them one on one nice match
Two of the Four Horsemen on stage.
Well since both were heels for most part
Too much alike
Champions!
Baby Doll was great, and the time she hit Jim Cornette in the back of the head, lol
Baby Doll, and Missy Hyatt. Two of the most beautiful Women to ever be in the NWA, later to be dubbed WCW. Both of them are my top picks for the most beautiful Women in Wrestling-PERIOD!
Yeah she cracked him 😄😄
She's a beast

@4:50 the winner of the 1985 Arn Anderson look alike contest!!!
Workers at their best.
545, why is Arn asking questions?
This is great stuff
Will that really happen between baby doll and samatha sure hop it will get to happen
blown away
God I remeber this Im old
Flair says Philly is starved for the sight of the real champion. He said the same thing about Bret Hart running with the WWF strap and not drawing money. And now he's friends with him.
Is there an e-mail address for this channel?
What year this show?

seeehorn
Zbysko wrestled for GCW, an NWA territory during this time. Also Pro Wrestling USA allowed wrestlers from the NWA and AWA to compete in their matches.
I remember watching this show I made it a point to watch it that day, You could not tell me everything they said was not true
lil funny how ric says that wrestling in philly was always a sell out at the spectrum, well anyone from philly back in the days knows that the spectrum only ran wwf shows, it was the civic center in philly where nwa did shows. actualyl on a few times nwa and wwf would do house shows in philly on the same night, and still do business, thats how over wrestling is in the home of ecw
5:08 why is arn anderson in audience asking questions weird lol
the guy who asked flair his toughest opponent looks like arn anserson lol
looks SO like Arn.
Who else thought that was Arn Anderson at 5:18 ?
Stevie wonder
if this was in 1985, then Rick Martel was the AWA champ, not Larry Zbyszko
i think larry was the american champ i think
Tully is the only true heel
God bless Larry zybysko never got dq on purpose
lotta feathered wings here
When is baby doll gonna talk about her and Samantha wearing leather dog collers with a chain with each other when will that get to be really happening with both of you ladies
Ric Flair may have had "10 pounds of gold", but Baby Doll is carrying 15 pounds of make up!!
She's a beast
@86lenny arn had a popular look back in 85. Alot of guys looked liek arn and vice versa.
1:26 a young christian bale
Baby Doll is GORGEOUS
@MatcoSports LOL, your're right!
I love UA-cam
Eye sure really really hop and want that to really happen with baby doll and Samantha with the wearing of the leather dog collers with chain ⛓️
they need jj dillion on stage
This whole interview is awkward and uncomfortable to me lol
Will baby doll really hav Samantha in a leather dog coller with a chain and walk in to her hom with Samantha wearing that leather dog coller than her daugther gets to chain hand cuff Samantha
Beautiful men protecting a business that was still relevant back then
