i never comment on youtube. but holy shit we need to start a campaign. its one of the best book series, and with modern technology.... it could be epic if done right
@@HookedOnSonics518 Wasnt the Fuller House sequel a flop? I definitely want a reboot but don't have high hopes for good modern reboots. Look at almost every redone movie in recent years that turned to stinking piles of filth simply because they were trying to cash in on the brand name or changed everything in an attempt to be different to alienate the original fanbase.
I actually didn't like Book 6: The Capture, which is of course what this arc is based off of, UNTIL I saw this episode. I think seeing Tom's reactions and hearing Ax's narration at the end hit home and brought the story to life for me. There are many things I didn't like about the show, but this scene made me keep watching. Scenes like this (love that it's in the book too) are why I loved Animorphs so much. Thanks for posting!
I know I'm late by three years, but I want to know why you didn't like The Capture book. I honestly skipped most of it to when Jake got infested by the Yeerk. It was pretty awesome in my opinion, and made me so much more sorry for Tom.
I am not fond of how they changed it from the book. In the book, Jake implied that he knew that Tom would not be able to meaningfully resist. In the book, Jake was half-morphed to obscure his voice. In the book, all Jake said was, "don't give up," and the Yeerk (not to mention Tom) could reasonably assume that this call was entirely about something else.
I posted this video 16 years ago. I had no idea it would still be up today. It's still one of the most powerful scenes in my opinion and I'm so happy that it hasn't been taken down and that it reminds people how strong the will can be
I watch this scene every couple years since you’ve posted it haha like sometimes this song just pops into my head and I need to watch this scene. Glad it’s still up
This is such a sad scene, but inspirational because Tom fights against his Yeerk because Jake inspired him to. When a host resists the yeerk the host rarely wins. I just wish Jake could've seen Tom resisting his Yeerk by trying to gain control of his hand. Jake would've been so happy.
I LOVED THIS SCENE! It still gets me emotional after all these years! Man, it's been such a long time since I've seen this. I remember I used to be obsessed with this. Hahahaha!
Thank you for posting this I'm rewatching the entire series and this clip is what I remember the most from when I was a kid..... Nostalgia hits hard with this one
Blame the parents who complained about the show scaring kids. I loved watching this show back then when I was a kid. My parents watched it with me and my brother at times.
As a standalone... Sure. Maybe. It did have some great moments, this one in particular. But its 90's effects and lack of budget made it a fairly mediocre show, and it paled in comparison to the source material book series.
To the dude who said that he ordered Rachel's death for no reason... He did it for a HUGE reason. If Rachel hadn't have killed Tom's Yeerk then the war would have continued because Tom would have gotten away and started an army of morphers... Although everything went to he'll when the Blade Ship got away... But still.

That whole section where Aximili/Max says "I understand now why my brother Elfangor chose this world to make a stand against the Yeerks...because what I saw so briefly through Jake's eyes - was not a world enslaved, but a world with a keen taste for victory."
Like I was saying, that whole section at the end that Aximili/Max said, it truly hits home for me so much and encourages me so much with hope in my life for causes/situations/relationships/future that I thought were lost.
it's also ironic that the author held a particular disdain for nickolodeon for their executive meddling and bowdlerization. It's clear she was quite correct.
Tom is a controller. He's being controlled by the Yeerk and at the end of the books not only is the Yeerk killed but Tom is as well. He's killed by Rachel
I love animorphs man. Such a touching moment too. I grew up reading these books and they are the best series of books in my opinion. Love em man, love em.
I miss the animorph books soo much, i was such a doie hard fan...this scene is sad yes...but the last book nearly put me in depression when rachel is killed...
How amazing would it have been if Tom's new Yeerk controller had eventually become part of the Peace movement and had freed him at the end of the series?
Hey Mitch. Not sure I quite remember you, but to be honest I've met and spoken to so many people that I don't remember all of them. However, I'm always glad to hear of another Animorphs fan. Thanx for writing, mitch.
basically, if a controller is freed he gets "zapped", kinda like being hit with a taser but with a lethal voltage. it was done also to those few yeerks who had somehow lost controll of the hosts, they were killed.
I still read the books, and I'm 17 now! I have all 64 of them and I plan on buying as much of the show as was released on VHS soon. Tobias was/is the love of my life!
Another reason Elfangor wanted to protect Earth so badly, he had so many experiences there in the Andalite Chronicles, a whole life there. Of course, Ax never knew that. He could only speculate.
Its just the perfect scene, cuz the music was fit well, the acting wasnt "Da bomb", but its great too, the characters are lovable and that litl sayin at the end was cool. (so is marco!) BTW, is that the last scene of the last episode?
@Jellicious11 Not sure what it said in the series but in the books Tom is a controller, Jake later became a controller and had the yeerk that was in Tom previously and showed him how Tom tried to fight but eventually gave up and just wanted to die already and stop being a controller.
in the separation rachel is on a class field trip and looses and earing in a crack in some rocks, so she morphs a starfish to get it. but some kid comes along and chops her in half. when she demorphs, there's two of her, due to the starfishes regeneration powers. one rachel is a total air-head, can plan long-term and is really sweet. the other one is very violent and can only react, can't plan. after totally bombing a mission to destroy the AMR, the animorphs find a way to put rach back together
Aaaw, there's a tear in my eye. Honestly though, I never watched past the first episode because the action/morphing scenes were just soooooo lame compared to the insane energy of the books. Part of me wonders what might happen if they tried this series again and give it a full-on, proper budget.
Would be one heckuva nostalgia trip.
Netflix should pick it up. Hell, they made a sequel to Full House.
