I clean houses and I was asked to detail a boat. This looks like a great teaching tool for me to start with. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!😎
This was really helpful! I do car detailing in Maine, and one of my regulars asked if I could do their boat. I wasn’t sure how different the process would be!
Me right now lol
Same!

Me too lol
Drake awesome video-full of solid gold. Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I'm a little surprised you don't treat the floor after the final clean. I think Woody wax even makes a non-slip floor wax that will help with clean up after a day of fishing. Thanks again...will definitely try the purple power.
Well done for a beautiful boat ..Thanks for sharing
These videos are great. II’ve learned so much as a new boat owner.
Sweet!! 😎👍🏻🔥
You make it look so easy!
Finally! somebody simplifies boat detailing! much appreciated

Hello drake been watching many of your videos just love it you are the real deal, quick question can you do a video on the process of cleaning a seadek , keep up the good work 👍
Great video, thanks for taking the time.as a mobile Detailer I’m done some boats and is always fun, keep up the good work,KEEP REFLECTING.
Thank you!
Bouta move to Texas around Lake Austin and Lake Travis for an apprenticeship, doing detailing on the side for my real money maker. This is super helpful gonna watch whatever else you upload.
Dude is good! I’ve learned a lot! Thanks bro
Thank you! I appreciate you for watching!
Great video and insightful. Thank you!
Thank you for watching!!
That video was Legit, I love detailing my boat, cars, trucks and toys. You do an excellent job. Keep up the good work. I'm watching all the videos and subscribed. I'm going to try those 3 products after the 4th of July weekend on my boat. Keep up the hard and good work.
Awesome! Thanks for watching !
Great job and killer information. I've been non-stop watching your videos for about a week now and I'm loving getting all the information, I do have a question that is probably redundant but my question is you washed waxed everything on the boat inside now and then you clean the floor after you wax the inside so what do you do when you're spraying it off you just rehand dry everything and you can hand dry the wax already too? I'm sure it's probably a stupid question but just want to be clear. Also when you're doing a wash and wax on a boat's on a trailer do you wax from the water line down underneath the boat as well or you just go to the water line and then just clean underneath the water line?
THANK YOU for this video!! I work at a boat repair shop and have discovered that I really enjoy washing/detailing boats so I am considering starting my own boat detailing business. I came to UA-cam to do a little research about the business and you nailed it with this video! This is exactly what I was looking for! 👍🏼👍🏼😁
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
The best video I have seen ever on how to detail like a pro! Good on ya!
Awesome! thank you!
So excited for this channel. I’ve been detailing boats for years but just got in to sanding last year and have so many questions. But usually no one to ask. You should try one of these bonnets to remove the wax they work really well. Of course you have to go over with a towel later but you get up 90% of it with the machine.

Very helpful video! May be a silly question, but what type of brush do you use wash the boat? Also is a soft or medium bristle? Thanks.
You are the king of detailing . Your videos helper me improve so much I'm onto boat detailing and feeling confident. In 2 years I built a word of mouth side hustle 35k to 45k a year doing automotive detailing fant wait to pursue this. Thanks for th3 knowledge, inspiration and motivation.

Great video- any advice on cleaning a bilge? My boat has twin I/Os and sits in a slip.
Thanks for the magic eraser tip!
You bet!
Nice work!
Thanks!
When doing the first exterior cleaning for the year , what should I wash with?
Great job man excellent
Thank you!
Awesome Drake, your videos are a awesome and very informative. Went and got most of your supplies to keep our Scout looking amazing. Quick question, on the Non-Skid floor could I add sealant to help keep from staining and a tuff wash down after returning from a day on the water? What would be your suggestion? Thanks a lot!!!
yes you can use the jescar power lock on the non skid! top it with mckees 37 hydro pearl!
Well done, sir. Thanks
Thanks!!
Nice one!!!
Thanks!
Awesome video
Thanks Bro!
This was very helpful because I am from Lake Havasu City Arizona, and I work on really expensive Boats.
Glad I could help 😎
Great video Drake! Do you detail inboard wakeboating boats? Would love to see a video on a Supra/Malibu/Natique/etc. type boats with more delicate interiors. Thanks and great job on these videos and products!
I don’t do a ton of wake boats! I have maybe only done 4 in 7 years ha
The last one I did was a super air natique. We coated it
On the gulf coast it’s all fishing boats
Awesome 👌
Thanks man!
Just got a detailing job! Thank you so much
Awesome! goodluck!
@@DrakesDetailing much appreciated! Possible to do a video on starting your own detailing business? What you need to start?
Used the jescar sealant today…. Immaculate!!!!
Awesome 😎
great video. i currently am a marine detailer at hagadone marine center in cda idaho. def want to try out that woody wax! when i prep my boats i pressure wash the whole inside get my floors clean then do the outside come back to the inside work top to bottom so i dont have to re go over any of my work. i only like to do it once haha then a vac from bow to stern on my way out after setting the carpets.
Awesome bro!! Everyone has their own system! Stick to what works for you!
GREAT video! I'm subbed...quick question, you actually used the DA and applied the synthetic sealant on the textured non-slip part on top of the gunnels? Also do you ever apply the synthetic sealant directly on the textured floor of the boat?
yes! This customer didn't want that service, but yes after you wash the non skid, dry it and seal it up!
I did automotive detailing for 2 1/2 years and just got a job as a boat detailer, this video was awesome for a quick idea of what I’m getting into. Thank you !
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Woahhhh me too lol😅
He has done such a good job , I want him to do my boat , do you work on the Sunshine Coast,
Very nice
Thanks!!
Damn dude. Well done.
Thank you!!
Looking to buff and wax 06 maxum. Medium oxidation will the shurhold or griots buffer work to compound polish and wax
Great video I’m trying to start my own business and this was really informative compared to every other video I’ve seen. Subscribed
Thanks bro!! I’m down to help you anyway I can!
Let me know of some topics you need help on and I’ll try to get a video on it!
Same here trying to start a business how much would u normally charge for or can u do a video on how u price things
I’ll have that coming up here in a week or 2! I’m going todo a whole series on starting and manage the business side of detailing!
@@DrakesDetailing Can you make a video on essentials you need to start the service? Like must have
Hey brother, can that polisher be a “one size fits all” machine? Or do you recommend getting several machines for different applications?
if there is any dullness in the gel coat, you have to use a regular rotary buffer, and a wool pad. Also marine oxidation remover. Most boats I deal with need oxidation correction.
💯💯💯
I do this everyday lol I work for a marine services place I love it!
Nice! 😎👍🏻
Nice vid. Only suggestion is do floors first. Purple power after wax is not good... also you can Woody wax those floors after ...
Thank you for the feedback! I agree with you that the floors should be done before the wax, But we always seem to get them dirty again even with shoe nets, So I am very careful not to get the purple power on the freshly waxed surface, and if I do I spray it off. I had someone else ask me the same question
Thanks for the videos! Had one question if you dont mind...For the purple power, are you using regular concentrate cleaner/degreaser, pressure wash concentration or the vehicle boat pressure wash? Does it matter?
It just says industrial concentrate
Great vid, just picked up some products from your links. Any suggestions on product to deal with cleaning up a vinyl wrap? I just got center console with a black vinyl wrap and it’s got water spots and minor scratches. Any suggestions on products for that?
You can polish is lightly with menzerna 2500 on a black foam force lake country pad. Just seal it with jescar power lock after using another black for pad
Love the videos. Why do you prefer using the Griots Garage DA over the FLEX for this?
Easier to handle one handed
Semi retired Nurse (tired of Healthcare) doing my first job next week. Will see if my back can handle it, but I Love making things look new again!!! Thanks for these videos.
Good luck! I’m sure it’ll turn out 🔥🔥
GREAT video! I’m picking up a boat this week and it needs some TLC. I’m excited to dig in. I read in one of the other comments that you didn’t wax or seal this floor. If you were to do that, what would you use for the floor after the purple power. Also, is it worth it to use the sealant and a wax on the hull? I’ve been watching your videos for the past hour, awesome! Subscribed and liked!
Any time you wax or seal the floors it will make it alittle slippery, but I would recommend after purple power to spray Mckees 37 hydro blue on the floors.
Just spray on, rinse off and dry.
You can find it in my products video, I talk about it.
As for the hull, it’s always the best option to seal it with jescar power lock, it will just wear off very quickly because it’s under the water line... especially in salt water, if you are in freshwater it will last a little longer
Thank you for subscribing!!
Drake's Detailing do you wax it AND seal it? If so, what goes first and what wax do you recommend on the outside of the boat?
You can do both!
If you were todo both, the jescar power lock ( sealant ) would go on first!
Then you can wax on top of the jescar!
I don’t ever use wax, a lot of the times if I say wax I’m talking about jescar power lock, it’s a bad habit that I have. Most people only know wax, so that’s why I say it.
Best case for a boat in my opinion would be to apply 2 coats of jescar power lock, and top it with mckees 37 hydro blue!
Mckees 37 is an Si02 ceramic spray.
Does the purple power remove wax if you happen to get overspray on the sides inside the boat?
This vid made me sub.
Awesome! Thank you so much!
I see you use the buff and shine microfiber with the Jescar sealant. Do you recommend this over a black foam pad because its gel coat. I'm assuming a foam pad will not work the sealant in as well and help polish the boat. Thanks and I recently subscribed yesterday and look forward to watching more videos. I'm looking to expand my auto detailing business to include boats since I'm in Florida.
You’ll make great money doing boats! I started out only doing cars now all I do are boats!
The reason I use microfiber is the fact that they are very thin, it doesn’t waste a ton of product by getting soaked into the pad, that’s pretty much the only reason.
You can wax with foam but use a polish pad or a med cut pad.
The black foam is way to soft for gel coat.
GREAT videos! Can't thank you enough! I'm just maintaining my own Whaler and am curious how you'd clean and protect the black rub rail. Is it OK to hit it with the machine pads? Or should I tape off? - Also, you mention not using Salt Away, which has been the go-to out here on the Oregon coast. What about engine flushing? Straight water? Thank you, and all the best!
Thank you!
Taping the rubber would be best, to avoid more clean up for your self. I like protecting all vinyl and rubber with 303.
Salt away will take your wax off unfortunately, try just waster, and alittle orpine wash and wax soap
What is “303”
Awesome videos! Quick question, what is your dilution ratio for the purple power??
usually about 50/50
Does purple power remove stubborn rust spots on the non-skid?
This was absolutely helpful. What advice can you give someone like myself looking to start up a boat detailing and winterizing company?
Hey Matt, just seeing this comment. Did you ever pursue the boat detailing company? Thinking of starting mine as well here in South Florida.
Do you use a microfiber brush for the gelcoat when doing the soap down or a soft bristle brush?
Just a soft bristle brush
Great videos! Thanks. Quick question...what steps do you suggest for a brand new boat prior to launching?
Pretty much what I did in this video! Or applying ceramic coating
drakesmarinedetailsupply.com/collections/starke-surface-technology/products/liquid-thor-nano-ceramic-marine-coating
Insert the garboard drain plug. Tie a line to the boat and have someone on the ramp hold the other end. Or, tie it off.
Great video! Will be applying your technique to detail by 26ft MacGregor, this coming weekend. How much of the Jescar Power Lock would I need? Would one 16oz bottle suffice?
You should be able to seal your boat about 4 times or more with that 16 oz bottle
Great video especially for a new boat owner. What application pad did you use?
Just a black microfiber pad
Love the videos to start. Thank you for putting in the time to share! I'm a bit confused about something. You seal/protect the deck area, wipe it down and then you clean the floors? With a degreaser which potentially breaks down the sealant you just applied? Not hating on you. On the contrary. I've been detailing for about 10 years and now soon, I'll be taking on a few boats which I've only done a couple of quick washes on. I'm using your videos as my knowledge base. But that washing the floor after protection didn't make sense to me. Am I missing something here? Thanks again! Keep glossin'
So On this job, I didn’t apply any sealant to the floors. That’s probably were the confusion is, the customer didn’t want me todo anything on the flooring besides clean it. It’s a fishing boat and they use heavy deck brushes to clean...
I did apply sealant to the non skid on the tow rail, but I did not do the floors.
If I would have been doing the floors, you would clean with degreaser, dry it , then apply sealant.
@@DrakesDetailing I appreciate the response. Just gave you a follow on Instagram today! @after_image_detailing
Keep the vids coming!
Thanks bro!
Great videos. Anyway to get the water spots off my simrad screen? Can you put the woody wax on the screen? Thanks
Ima be honest, haven’t had much luck getting heavy water marks off screens... most of the time, a light polish will do it, but it will take the factory coating off the screen... you’ll have to re ceramic coat it, or keep it waxed often.
And yes, you can put woody wax on all screens and gauges
Drake's Detailing thanks keep up the good work. Your videos and links are the most helpful thing I have come across. 👍🏻
Thank you!! I have a lot more coming! If you want daily tips and tricks follow me on Instagram @drakes.detailing
Just subscribed, amazing work and videos! I'm curious what you use to film?
Thanks bro!!! Just a nice middle of the road go pro with some suction cups and some mini tri-pods
My neighbor owns a Automotive shop in Kailua, HI. He recently worked on my truck and didn’t charge me because he wants me to detail his boat. 😁. I also own a detailing business so it works out as a trade.
That is awesome!
How can I not subscribe to a channel where a guy works that hard?
Fantastic deep cleaning, that is a lot of surface area to clean. Would you say that boat detailing can be more lucrative than automotive cleaning? Thank you for sharing 👍✌🏼
Hey bro! Absolutely! It’s a whole different ball game.
I have a boat that has not been detailed in years. Do you recommend using the Griots Garage Machine? Will it remove the oxidation? Thanks!! Love your vids!!
No, you’ll need a makita rotary and wool pads to remove the oxidation. The griots is good or light polishing, waxing and sanding
When specifically do you use the Orpine wash and wax soap? Awesome videos btw man I have learned a lot from you.
Awesome! Only use orpine wash and wax on waxed to sealed boats. I personally don't really use orpine that much any more. Iv been using starke pure clean. Its a little more gentle on the wax and gel coat.
Hey Drake, I'm currently working on a restoration on a 2008 Robalo r260. There are a lot small rust stains embedded into the non skid deck. What do you recommend to completey remove them? I'm applying a ceramic coating to the hull and tow rail. Do you recommend applying a ceramic coating to the non skid on the floors and the lids to the compartments or applying Jescar power lock sealant instead? The robalo will be spend at least 5 months of the year in the Gulf of Mexico.
Rust aid should take the rust spots out. Ceramic coating on floors by itself will last about 3 to 5 months, but if you keep it topped off with Mckees 37 hydro pearl it will make it last a lot longer! Ceramic is usually the best option, But to coat non skid takes a lot of coating, usually takes about double the product! So make sure you budget that in. Also, What coating brand are you using?
What pressure washer are you using?
Nice boat 😎
Yes it was, ha!
Great site for DYS. I HAVE A ROBLEM how do you get at the front of the bridge on a Sea Ray 380 AC to buffer, polish and
You’ll need suction cups or a rope and harness.
Watch my video on how to buff the brow
Hello are you using the Griot's Garage G9 new version or old one? Looks like the older version. Curious on your thoughts on the one I should purchase. Great videos!
If you can find the older one get that one, it’s better in my opinion
That Finn is nice
with some Mercury‘s on the back
Heck ya it is!! 🔥🔥
What were the products that you recommended in the video? Can you list them? Thanks!
I have them all listed in the description
Hey Drake, love your videos. Quick question, I’m looking to buy my first quality machine. To this day do you still prefer using the Griots to seal with? If so what pad?
No sir, go with a maxshine m8s
@@DrakesDetailing ok, and the Rupes isn’t good for sealing? I’m looking for something that can polish and seal. Or would I have to buy two machines
@@VERAD0 rupes us very good machine. But you can wax or seal on a machine that costs so much less money
Great video. Quick question,,,can I wash the entire boat and then apply the Jascar a different day....it's out of stock for 2 days but I need to at least use the purple power and to wash the boat on the outside today.
Absolutely!
Great process. What Purple Power do you use?
It’s a brand name cleaner, it can be found at Walmart, Home Depot, ace hardware, etc.
What are the best options for removing scratches from a cowling and polishing a cowling?
Thanks!
You can use a medium cut compound like starke elevate with a wool pad on a rotary. Follow up with a foam pad to remover swirls
Have a video on cleaning a cabin cruiser?
Not yet, when I have that job come through ill put one up!
I’m hardcore debating on starting a scuba hull cleaning business know there is demand and have the skill set wondering what an initial capital investment would look like to secure the compressor, hoses, cleaning equipment. Have backers but am putting everything together to pitch. Would really appreciate any advice you def seem to know what’s up. Thanks
Unfortunately I don’t have any experience with that line of work, I have seen the guys out there doing it, it doesn’t look like much.
Most just have a small compressor on a dolly and a few scrapers and scotch brite pads.
That’s about all I can tell ya! Sorry
What product/method do you use to remove rust from cupholders and other stainless steal on the boats?
Metal polish, or menzerna 400
Hey Drake, If you compound/polish the boat to remove oxidation with the menzerna 400, or any other product, do you have to wash the polish/compund off with dawn dish wash before you apply the jescar polymar wax?
That’s my personal preference
