So excited for this channel. I’ve been detailing boats for years but just got in to sanding last year and have so many questions. But usually no one to ask. You should try one of these bonnets to remove the wax they work really well. Of course you have to go over with a towel later but you get up 90% of it with the machine.
if there is any dullness in the gel coat, you have to use a regular rotary buffer, and a wool pad. Also marine oxidation remover. Most boats I deal with need oxidation correction.
That video was Legit, I love detailing my boat, cars, trucks and toys. You do an excellent job. Keep up the good work. I'm watching all the videos and subscribed. I'm going to try those 3 products after the 4th of July weekend on my boat. Keep up the hard and good work.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I'm a little surprised you don't treat the floor after the final clean. I think Woody wax even makes a non-slip floor wax that will help with clean up after a day of fishing. Thanks again...will definitely try the purple power.
My neighbor owns a Automotive shop in Kailua, HI. He recently worked on my truck and didn’t charge me because he wants me to detail his boat. 😁. I also own a detailing business so it works out as a trade.
Thank you for the feedback! I agree with you that the floors should be done before the wax, But we always seem to get them dirty again even with shoe nets, So I am very careful not to get the purple power on the freshly waxed surface, and if I do I spray it off. Fantastic deep cleaning, that is a lot of surface area to clean. Would you say that boat detailing can be more lucrative than automotive cleaning? Thank you for sharing 👍✌🏼
Hello drake been watching many of your videos just love it you are the real deal, quick question can you do a video on the process of cleaning a seadek , keep up the good work 👍
No, but I also am smart about using it. I just use it for the light agitation of the seats. I don’t sit there and grind with it per minute on end. That’s where you can do some real damage- I also don’t use them seats all the time which helps the longevity. Another important part is making sure you rehydrate the seat afterwards with some good protectant so that they don’t dry and crack
Ima be honest, haven’t had much luck getting heavy water marks off screens... most of the time, a light polish will do it, but it will take the factory coating off the screen... you’ll have to re ceramic coat it, or keep it waxed often. And yes, you can put woody wax on all screens and gauges

Yes! I like orpine wash and wax soap! Also, every few weeks use McKees 37 hydro blue Si02 spray on it, just spray it on and rinse it off then dry it, that will get it shined up and “ waxed “

Drake, binge watched your channel. Thought as a “Lakelander” and growing up with at least a Gheenoe since I was 14, I KNEW EVERYTHING ABOUT BOATS. Turns out I’m an idiot. (Grades at LHS and Florida Southern should’ve been my first indicator) Here’s my issue. A Waverunner with gray seat cushion. (2008) Out of nowhere developed a speckled black mold. Tried the usual cleaning solutions, mold sprays, even the “30 Second” mold spray that works like a charm on the house. I’m curious if you’ve run into this issue. And if so, will you help out a Floridian exiled to central Georgia?
Drake, was wondering if I could use jescar power lock on an awldripped topside? 2 years ago I got it awlgripped and haven’t done anything to it except wash after each use with water. I don’t trailer it. Whadyya think?
Technically you are only supposed to use the awlgrip wax. But we have applied Jescar to awlgrip in the past with no issues. Just use a da on low speed to apply.
Love the videos to start. Thank you for putting in the time to share! I'm a bit confused about something. You seal/protect the deck area, wipe it down and then you clean the floors? With a degreaser which potentially breaks down the sealant you just applied? Not hating on you. On the contrary. I've been detailing for about 10 years and now soon, I'll be taking on a few boats which I've only done a couple of quick washes on. I'm using your videos as my knowledge base. But that washing the floor after protection didn't make sense to me. Am I missing something here? Thanks again! Keep glossin'
So On this job, I didn’t apply any sealant to the floors. That’s probably were the confusion is, the customer didn’t want me todo anything on the flooring besides clean it. It’s a fishing boat and they use heavy deck brushes to clean... I did apply sealant to the non skid on the tow rail, but I did not do the floors. If I would have been doing the floors, you would clean with degreaser, dry it , then apply sealant.

@@DrakesDetailing ty vm So da and heaviest cutting pad and heaviest cutting compound and say 12 hours? Car detailing stuff ok ? Bet white wont show hologramms after heavy cutting with da and wax will hide haze
Have you ever put a microfiber pad on a dual action or on one of those telescoping rods to be used only for wiping off compound or wax? I feel that would be easier on the arms. Just curious if that's a realistic option or not.
To sum up the question better. Can you use a microfiber pad on a dual action to make the wipe up process faster? Instead of just elbow grease and towels.

What’s the name of the machine you’re using again?
In this video, it was a griots garage DA polisher.
Here’s the one I use now:maxshineusa.com/product/dual-action-polisher-for-car-detailing-m8s-v2-5in-plate-8mm-throw-1000w-open-box/?_gl=1*jc7yp3*_up*MQ..&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgqmvyv71hwMVe1tHAR14QBR3EAAYASAAEgKeDPD_BwE&gbraid=0AAAAACfS6HE8aW4FtKvYunJrakQBlXpEN

Great videos! Thanks. Quick question...what steps do you suggest for a brand new boat prior to launching?
Pretty much what I did in this video! Or applying ceramic coating

Insert the garboard drain plug. Tie a line to the boat and have someone on the ramp hold the other end. Or, tie it off.
Awesome Drake, your videos are a awesome and very informative. Went and got most of your supplies to keep our Scout looking amazing. Quick question, on the Non-Skid floor could I add sealant to help keep from staining and a tuff wash down after returning from a day on the water? What would be your suggestion? Thanks a lot!!!
yes you can use the jescar power lock on the non skid! top it with mckees 37 hydro pearl!
Great process. What Purple Power do you use?
It’s a brand name cleaner, it can be found at Walmart, Home Depot, ace hardware, etc.
How do you get the compartments dry? I feel like they’d hold a lot of moisture and water.
Dry with towels, or leave them open to air dry.
Doesn’t acetone dissolve paints and gel coat? We use it to clean up after using these products.
If you use it sparingly you shouldn’t have any issues. It evaporates so quickly it doesn’t really leave any time to do the gelcoat any harm
Hey boss
How many hours will it take to polish white boat's sides been 8 metres long , using da 15mm
Hey man! Probably a half a day to a whole day depending on oxidation level

So da and heaviest cutting pad and heaviest cutting compound and say 12 hours?
Car detailing stuff ok ? Bet white wont show hologramms after heavy cutting with da and wax will hide haze
When doing the first exterior cleaning for the year , what should I wash with?
Have you ever put a microfiber pad on a dual action or on one of those telescoping rods to be used only for wiping off compound or wax? I feel that would be easier on the arms. Just curious if that's a realistic option or not.
To sum up the question better. Can you use a microfiber pad on a dual action to make the wipe up process faster? Instead of just elbow grease and towels.
Yes you can, but you’ll still have to go back over with rags to level any streaks out
@@DrakesDetailing Thanks man as always you're a huge help to all of us. Keep on Bro.
