Wow,it's beautiful there! Has an oldschool feel at that resort. My family over on the islands say boofet too. Maybe not all of them but it's been going on since the mid 70's when I was a kid. I always enjoyed the difference in word selection on the islands. My favorites are 'plenty' ,'folks','....ya?'. I'm smiling inside when I hear people speak Hawaiian style. It's rarer and rarer. Glad to hear both of you still use these words. I hope y'all never lose the charm of the way you speak there.
I love your videos! Buffet is a French word. In French it is pronounced as Amanda said it. In English, it is pronounced as Felix said it. Best wishes from Canada.
So glad to see you guys were able to stay at Aulani! We are coming to Hawaii next month and have been watching your videos in preparation! Thanks for all the great content! 🙌
Crispy fry gang! Thanks for showcasing Aulani. We have done character breakfast at The Grand Californian in Anaheim and the price you paid is comparable. Amanda you had breakfast for dessert! Everything looked good. Can’t wait to see part 2 🌺
That shrimp and fish & chips is my next try there. Dole Whip is the bestessess!! I am a crispy fry girl. But as long as it’s cooked good, I’ll eat it. I not picky😋😋😋 And whaaaaat??? You guys didn’t get your bed frame yet? I have never ordered furniture stuff online cause I like to see, feel and touch and get it delivered and assembled. 😂😂 I assemble everything else. No way I want to assemble a darn bed frame. NOOOO!!! Love you guz 🥰🥰🥰🤙🏼🤙🏼💕🤙🏼🤙🏼🥰🥰🥰
Nice! I wish I explored more when I stayed at the Aulani 😄 You guys looked like you had so much fun!! 🤗 Glad to be a apart of this #foodieohana! #sweetandsavorygang Also, thank you Aimee! I learned so much!!
Oh my gosh what a magical dream 😍I love everything snout Disney and unfortunately I am in Australia so I’m so far away from going to see it. 😩 loved this!
Great video! Just wanna say, we tried out Gord's smoked prime rib amd the snow puffys because of your recommendation and you were so right. We loved it. Thanks so much! Have fun!
I wondered if you two would ever do an Aulani video. Me and the family have been twice and it’s truly amazing. Glad you were able to experience it. Too bad the buffet was closed but it’s give you reason to to back!
In culinary school we were taught that Saying Boofet is the French way although you don't emphasize on the oo. It's a short sound. We tend to say Bu like Buff 💪🏽 Buffet emphasizing the "et" like Buffaay or Buuufet emphasizing the "u". But of course There's no real wrong or right. Unless you live in France since it is a French word Lol🤣 I always wanted to stay at the Aulani but unfortunately way out of my price range..☹️ thanks for giving us a glimpse. Nice room looks like a time share type of room. I'd rather stay in time shares now over a regular hotel room.
Aloha Amanda & Felix. Great vlog can’t wait to see part 2!! I’m a soggy fries gal and I also like ketchup on my eggs. Is the Aulani still only allowing people staying there to dine at the food establishments or can anyone dine there now? 🍤🍕🍧🌞🌈🌴
I think the Buffet or Boofeh, is because us Japanese people say it that way. My mom, from Japan, says it that way. So, I say it that way too! lol. It's not a Hawaii thing, cuz a lot of people I was brought up here with don't say it like me. It's funny! Aloha to you guys!!
lol - you are so cute, Amanda . . . Yes, I believe Boo-Feh (Buffet) pronunciation is a Hawaii thing - my Ma used to say it like that too! Another word too is Plenty which some people from Hawaii (my Dad!) pronounce Plan-nee! :)
You're bringing back some wonderful memories when we stayed at Aulani last August. Looks like you got a 1-bdrm DVC villa. We were lucky to be able to stay at a dedicated 2-bdrm DVC villa last time. Definitely impressive. This is why we hope to come back in a year or two, especially when the entire resort are finally fully opened. I wonder if you'll do a menehune adventure and make your own lighted Mickey ears?😀 Can't wait to see more. - Zeke.
Yes, Ketchup on the Eggs. I pronounce Buffet as Amanda does, always have. Interesting to see you at Aulani, not really my kind of place, a tad too expensive unless with kids. Mahalo and Aloha.
So who was giving you a hard time about how you said buffet? I'm guessing probably people from the mainland. But the funny thing is that the way it's pronounced in Hawaii is more like the French way of saying it. In other words, the correct way. When I first moved to the mainland, I had to change the way I said buffet because of confused looks. But living in the SF Bay Area, there are so many words that are pronounced incorrectly and you just have to go with it. So no worries Amanda, you're saying it the right way! Felix, that bed dive looked like a Mark Wiens move. Mark would be impressed. BTW Felix, Pacific time is what we have here on the West Coast.
Mahalo for having my back Marvin! So many people commented on our previous buffet video saying I was saying it wrong 😎 but it just shows how much our culture influences the way we speak and proud to say us locals say it that way! Felix pulled a mark wiens!!!🤙🏻🤙🏻
We love Aulani and made the time share investment there. Totally worth it, especially when you have kids…. We go twice a year to celebrate birthdays for our older daughter and our twins. We miss the dinner buffet at Makahiki…. The food on the line used to be awesome and a good value…. And Ama’ama was really good before Covid…. But we love the coconut shrimp and chicken tenders you can get poolside.
@@AmandaFelixEats as you said, good to stock up nearby. The Kapolei Costco and Foodland is off the same exit as Target. Also the places just across the street from Aulani are good. Monkeypod Kitchen has the same happy hour menu as Moku Kitchen. Also, the Island Country Market by ABC Stores is pretty good with a made to order food counter and prepared foods section. It is actually pretty reasonable for being right by the resort. They even have a boba tea counter. There is also a good coffee place and ice cream place in that little strip. Those who go to Aulani all the time use a little shortcut. Go to the Aulani parking lot, take the elevator all the way down to first level and then exit out of the structure to walk across the street. Then reverse course to come back to the hotel. Not exactly a shortcut, but it is easier than walking up and down the hill to go across the street and to come back into the hotel. Oh and you get the kitchen and laundry machines when you stay in a 1 bedroom or larger villa. Makes a big difference when you have kids. No need to pack as much and after you finish at the pool for the day, just put things in the washer and dryer and you are good for the next morning! They also have bbq grills you can use near Ama’ama around dinner time to grill your meats if you bring your own food to cook at the resort. With Costco so close by(less than 5 minutes) you could get some prime steaks and seafood to grill for dinner and eat like royalty…
@@AmandaFelixEats thanks for letting me know! It looks like a dupe for Reformation’s Elle dress which is like $200. Your dress is almost the same exact print! Thanks for the video. I’ve been curious about what Aulani has to offer. Take care!
Had to give some support to Felix after reading all the comments about the word, 'buffet'... I must be bi-lingual becuz I say both buff-fay and plan-ney ("plenty") like someone mentioned. Lol.
You know I had to do it....I Googled how to pronounce the word "buffet".... The French pronounce it like Amanda and Americans typically pronounce it like Felix. So everyone is correct! Yay! Just don't pronounce the "t".
My friends in High School used to make fun of me for saying “Boofay” instead of “Buffay”. I later found out that the word “Buffet” originates from France, so you and I are using the correct, original pronunciation. It’s like saying “Cwoassant” instead of Croissant.
It wasn’t a good experience for us! Food are really expensive and it’s not that good. I’m sorry! We were expecting for more since we are from the mainland. But Waikiki is better. We love Hawaii tho!
Foodie Ohana merchandise!! BAM!!!

That’s why we’ve never been before too! You can still dine there without staying though!🤙🏻
I grew up in the Midwest, near Chicago. We always called it “boo-fey”
Aloha Amanda & Felix. Great vlog can’t wait to see part 2!! I’m a soggy fries gal and I also like ketchup on my eggs. Is the Aulani still only allowing people staying there to dine at the food establishments or can anyone dine there now? 🍤🍕🍧🌞🌈🌴
Aloha Paula! Anyone can dine right now🤤 only thing is guests only for the pools and pool chairs😎 not sure how much parking is 😅
I live in Utah and every time I say “buffet” (exact same as you, Amanda) people tease me 😂
Awesome video. Can I make reservations for the breakfast even if I'm not staying at the resort?
Yes you can!
Omg fun! Who watched your doggo? 😘

Guys wanted to ask since you guys went to both buffets do you recommend Plumeria beach buffet of 100 sails? Thanks!!
Plumeria 👍 but can't go wrong with either
I am surprised it’s your first time at Aulani living in Oahu all your life? Well, glad you both had a wonderful staycation !
It was awesome! Yup first timers! Mahalo Ann! 🤙
Nice Seamaster, I have the Seamaster chrono. I have timeshare at Aulani, and will be in Waikiki on the 15th and Aulani on the 17th of this month.
That's awesome! We hope you have a great stay David! 🤙
It’s been pronounced Boofett as long as I can remember and started at Camelia Buffett as the OG for towners.
I’m with Amanda 🤙🏽
Camelia was the spot! 🙌
I say boo-fey. I wonder if I can make reservations for the breakfast with the characters without staying there? The kids would love it!
Yes! You can dine at the Makahiki breakfast without being a resort guest 👍
We need a collab with Bill and Lisa. Come on make it happen.
It's a possibility! 🤞
Yes, Ketchup on the Eggs. I pronounce Buffet as Amanda does, always have. Interesting to see you at Aulani, not really my kind of place, a tad too expensive unless with kids. Mahalo and Aloha.

Do you know if they source their food from Hawaii?
Some of ingredients for sure but not all of them
Amanda, where is your dress from?
From an online store called Shein 😬

Well put! 👍
E Komo Mai! Have a great time!
We definitely did! Mahalo! 🤙
Correct me if im wrong but isnt puto and goffy
Both dogs?
Yes boo-fay is how I used to pronounce it as well until my mainland husband made fun of me lol.
