1. We are remodeling a home that has a crawlspace (8-16” in most spots) with dirt and vents. We are remodeling room by room and redoing subfloor as well. We are trying to decide the best course of action to deal with the crawlspace. We live in south Louisiana. We do know that we have to leave a termite gap. We don’t know how accessible the crawlspace will be in the future once the remodel is complete. 18. When I dug down about 5 feet, there was standing water. After rain, it is now more but only about 9" deep.
19. My plan is to level the crawl space about 3' deep, install drain piping with silt sock, crock and dual sump pump with battery back-up. Then seal the floor and walls, insulate walls and install dehumidification along with Radon fan as mentioned in your book.

Too bad I missed this Michael. You guys are due in Wednesday and will hopefully take care of the doggone smell! It’s been smelly since day one and encapsulated twice and have done everything else including an EZ Breathe, dehumidifier, drainage and another sump pump inside the crawl space

Mount Valley Foundation (South Carolina) encapsulated our crawl space. Aprilaire Dehumidifier installed. They foam boarded 2x6 but no insulation was installed over cement blocks just covered with plastic. What insulation is recommended? House built in 2023.

We suggest a 2 inch foam board insulation with a R value of 10 or higher that is termite resistant!
