If I told my friends I just watched a 30 minute video about ladders, they would laugh at me… but it was well worth it. Thanks for making this, I learned a lot!
We bought 3 additional ones earlier this week. One went to our electrician and keeping the other two. These are excellent ladders. Appreciate the comment.
Great unbiased comparison of these ladders, very thorough. You have a new subscriber after watching this! Would love to see a future comparison between the little giant and the Werner x3 you acknowledged in the video. On paper they seen identical but I’m sure you could find the nuances between them
There is so much info in this video. Thanks for that. The different things you pointed out are things that the everyday, non-professional person might not consider. Those sharp edges on the Werner probably wouldn't have crossed my mind... until I cut myself on them. So, I'm glad you brought that up. The one thing I really like about the Werner Leansafe is the adjustable back legs for steps/uneven ground. But, there are more aspects of the Little Giant that has me leaning toward purchasing it. Again, a very informative, helpful video. Much appreciated.
@@campbellbuilt I am curious about one thing regarding the Werner Leansafe... When it's in extension mode can the adjustable back legs be adjusted to a smaller length, or do they have to be fully extended before using the extension mode? Thanks again.
X5 plastic tab on one side just snapped off! Called Werner waiting on a call or email back! Seems like this can and has happened before I think! They are aware of this but not stating it to me! BAD PART THEY ARE RIVETED HARDER RO REPLACE! I will keep you advised on what happens! Great video thou!
i'm 62 and got the X5 a few weeks ago . it is the most solid feeling ladder i've ever been on ! while i'm not as big as i used to be i'm still a big dude . the stair option was actually used when i was installing a pivoting tv wall mount above a tall gas fire place with a seat built into the front of it . i was %100 happy at that point ! take care , jeff
I whole heartily agree with the angle of the ladder in relation to fatigue. I do drywall repairs and painting at an apartment complex 2 days a week and used a 5ft ladder (which was the appropriate size btw) then I switched to the Werner pro platform. At the end of the day I am so much less fatigued in my feet, calves, and lower back by using the platform compared to a ladder. Great video guys. While I do not agree with your choice of preferred ladder, I understand now why some trades do. Work safe yall
Thank you for this breakdown. We love watching and learning from these videos. We have a team of engineers working to innovate how we look at ladders, we'd love to talk with you and get some feedback from you about our products.
Nice video. I am a regular-joe not in the trades. Despite that, I still do a lot of work with ladders. I own 3 Werners (4, 6 & 8 foot step ladders). I also own several Keller step and extension ladders. IMHO, if a person can't lift and move a ladder, they should hire a professional. That way they can save a trip to the E.R.
I'm a paint and drywall guy, primarily paint. A few years ago, I bought a couple of the Werner aluminum X3 ladders. They have the narrower feet like the little giant. I'm not a fan of the stability factor of thoseladders. After a few months, I sold one and kept the other. It's a niche ladder for me. Used flipped out with a Pivot or a Ladder-Ade in a stairway that you don't feel like dragging a 16' extension ladder into. I recently picked up an X5 to replace the lighter X3 for the same tasks, but also more stairway flexibility. If it wasn't for the narrower feet the Little Giants look like better thought out ladders and still being made in the USA is a big plus. All my extension ladders, step ladders, and work platforms are Werner though, except for a rogue 20' Louisville and a few Gorilla platforms.
The feet on the backside portion of the LG are held in with a pair of screws, I wonder if they could be swapped with wider feet for exterior use? I don’t know if LG makes them but they definitely made it possible!
Thank you for your video. I was considering the X5 but I will stick with the Louisville 8ft A frame that also functions as an extension ladder. It actually lets you adjust the extension ladder part instead of bending in the center Far superior of a ladder
Excellent comparison! One of your best tool reviews imo. The Little Giant is my favorite ladder ever. However, as you mentioned, the tool holder is definitely lacking. I’m constantly struggling to find a spot for the tools I’m using. I added the option outside corner brace for the extended portion which is very handy. Makes it slightly heavier but not by much.
Osha won't wanna hear this. But I like to climb to the tip top sometime in A frames. King will prevent me from doing that for sure... Now I need 6' ladder to go 5', sad..
6’ dark horse and 5” king combo. I like the light weight of the king combo, and the higher reach of the dark horse. If I need to be above 20’ than we order a lift.
@@campbellbuilt No, I have a 22’ aluminum extreme that does for use around the house. I use the the two fiberglass ladders for OSHA commercial applications. I hate the weight of fiberglass, but I dislike getting electrocuted even more.
After many many yrs professionallyon a ladder I broke my ankle stepping onto the little giant from a shed roof. thing just went sideways on me. They are not stable at all, and with the added weight it's just not worth it. I'm currently looking for a new ladder.
went to buy the X5 on super sale at home depot, they have NOT fixed those plastic cheapo clips that open and close the extension part, horrible, IF weight, and its HEAVY was the only issue i would have bought it, those plastic levers suck

I came here for a review for the x5 since it’s on sale and I thought about grabbing it up for work as I’m an electrician good review and good video !

Hi guys, you mention that the slits at top of yellow ladder is paint tray holder, I’m a painter myself and wondering how it holds paint tray
I appreciate you making this because I will do a UA-cam short.

Love the ladder but it definitely is lacking tool space.
I bolt tape measure holders to mine, perfect to hook drills on
Great idea! I think I might do that.
Interesting!!!! I just got leansafe x5.
The X5 is $99 right now at Home Depot as of 3/26/23
That’s a awesome deal.
Thanks for the info
I’m pretty sure the king combo has cups, you can add to the side of the ladder in those slots
You are correct. I’ve never seen them in person but know their available through their website.

That’s pretty crazy, going to get another if our Depots have them at that price.

If it went sideways, then it wasn't secured
@@sparx2391 absolutely, the accident was 100% my fault. My only point is that this ladder is more prone to toppling than a traditional style.
