It's time to go back... again.... to Resident Evil 4 to reveal the cleverest mindgame Capcom's (seemingly) played in quite some time.

I agree resident evil 6 isn’t that bad
Not inherently the point I'm going for but yeah, cheers to that.
RE6 is in my 5 worst games of all time, and I've been gaming since the early 90s.
@@Nameless.Hermit Cool, thanks for letting us know.
@@sgtpepper91 you are most welcome
I love Re6. Re7 is the worst mainline RE game in my opinion.
But does RE6 combat flow like RE4/RE4 Remake? How seemlessly can you chain the shooting and roundhouse kicks? That's the secret spice of RE4.
…Pretty seamlessly. RE6 highlight reels over the years from its mercenaries mode are damn incredible.
Res6 gameplay is the best !! PC version of course ! you have to many attack and defensive and even counter attack moves to choose from ! for ex you take my little Sherry and any Res game it wont do any difference to her it would be even easier for her to kick butts !!!
Secret spice? What are you talking about? Their elements are equipollent, but the action of 6 is improvised.
Resident evil 6 is supposed to be an epic story line with all the nostalgia from the main games.
RE6 is like DMC game but with a lot of weapons and powerful melee attacks.
yes and i like that PC version always !
dude holy crap, that ''media literacy has deteriorated..'' line is gold
pbs kids nomi
Resident evil 6 was fun
was and still fun !
Really appreciate y'all for helping this one blow up (and so many new subs!) - Part 2 is coming along soon!
Huh. No wonder I liked it a lot, lol. Re6 is my favorite RE game.
If re4r is similar to re6 then re6 is a good game cause re4r is AMAZING
The only difference is between 6 and 4 remake is the melee , 4 remake you have to earn it in most instances , other than the button promp moments in boss fights . In 6 you can freely melee and is qte heavy , which was fun but got old fast . I believe the og re4 and re4r strike a balance in most instances .
of course it is good ! it is great actually !
Thank you for defending the "stand still to shoot" model of play from the original. Never understood why you would want to run and shoot at the same time, anyway. It ruins your accuracy and potentially wastes ammo.
Literally the exact thought I had recently ! lol
It’s surreal that basically no other games explored the stand still option! It’s something I plan on revisiting in my own prototypes.
Gotta love the RE6 love! RE6 is still the king of OTS combat for RE and I am still baffled that some RE fans heavily hates that game when there are a LOT of positive aspects to that game 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ RE4R is more compact but doesn't have the more fluid style of RE6's movement and combat 😬🙏🏻
I will admit I did like Jake as a character. The RE6 remake will hopefully shine a light on him.
He is a good boy trying too hard to be a bad boy, and Sherry needs to drag his silly kung-fu moves into a spin-off game or something.
@@UnabridgedGamer Id like them to tie Jakes campaign into Leon’s campaign. Going from 3 campaigns down to 2 would be better for the remake. One fully designed around Coop with Jill/Chris almost as a sequel to 5 and one classic single player campaign with Leon tracking down Jake in a post apocalyptic Raccoon City like zone before Chris can get to him. I think having Jake operate more like Wesker did in 1 but the twist this time is that he’s actually the good guy caught up with the wrong side like Leon was in 2 would be fitting to rap up the series. Claire, Sherry and Chris’s boy were by far the weakest characters in og 6 imo. I think putting the focus on old man Leon investigating and eventually defending Weskers son from Chris and Jill would be the optimal way to tell the story while also using as much nostalgia as possible to conclude the story. I’d be happy with the exact same RE6 game in RE Engine either way.
just Res6 is great ! PC version of course ! mods and trainers make the game even better way better actually ! NB: shall say it again ? lol three decades ! you know the drill Bub lol
Tbh, I played re4 a few years ago, and re4 vr a couple of months ago and due to vr being much more fast paced in gameplay and not having to rely on tank controls, in my head remake and vr were a pretty close experiences (beside the restructuring changes).
I get where you’re coming from - but honestly the VR version always came across to me as the best possible version for the Wii port.
I was literally talking to my friend yesterday about how damn good RE6's combat system is. I want it back. And I want Jake and Sherry back, too.
True imagine if they can made Leon story become more horror using the element and mechanic that they have from re7 and 8, and for jake they can use re4 remake combat but more fluid.
Just imagine the kinda story they could spin if they wove 6, Revelations 2, and 8’s epilogues together. Reincarnated Alex Wesker vs. the next generation of RE heroes. It’d be some fun times!
the combat system... yes Bub you got that right !! thanks
i m still playing it on yes Sherry is my favorite too !
I agree and disagree. To me, RE4 Remake feels more like what they wanted RE6 to be. Even then, RE6 and RE4R are different. RE4R's combat flows much more smoothly. RE4R is like if you mixed RE4 and RE6 together with the smoothness and horror coating of RE2R/RE3R. Basically, RE4R perfected what Capcom wanted to pursue.
See I’m hearing this a lot but 6 is basically the same smoothness, it just has a higher skill ceiling to get there. So it’s less about 4R being smoother so much as, honestly? A bit easier. Which, again, is a mindset that’s working for them, even if I personally prefer the original style.
how many years of experience of video games you have Bub ? if it s less than 20 years then just read my comment and move on ! as an experienced player with 30 years of experience i can play a game for 5 minutes and tell you if it s good or not ! oh yeah ! how i do that ! it s called virtual practice ! i can teach lot of shit pal !
While I understand your points, I think you should take a step back a little bit. RE is getting awesome (if flawed) games while many franchises of our childhood are effectively dead (silent hill, splinter cell, metal gear, max payne, mass effect etc) with nothing to fill the void. Other franchises are bastardised to the point of losing all identity like assassins creed. When you look at gaming as a whole, RE fans should be extatic.
Okay but there’s a key thing here - this isn’t a franchise if my childhood. Plus going without another game in the vein of something I love? I constantly deal with that. My last Brothers in Arms-like was The Bureau in 2013. I’m over the moon to have a fan made remake of LEGO Rock Raiders. The thing is though - being beholden to brands will always end in disappointment. It’s why I gave up on Star Wars years ago. Instead, if you just take each piece of media on its own merits? You find new old favorites and appreciate everything that clicks with you personally.
That, and you’re kinda dismissing the wonderful wave of spiritual successors for most of those IPs. We’ve even got darn Clocktower-likes - who expected new CLOCKTOWER style games?! It’s amazing! Who needs the official branding? If anything, so many folks complain about divergent games with “if it wasn’t called X it would be good” - okay! We’ve got games doing that. It’s awesome!
Resident evil 4 is my favourite game of all time & I love the remake.
It’s actually difficult to fully grasp the point you are making because you kinda rambled on, Resident evil 4 is nothing like Resident evil 6.
I'm sorry for... *checks notes* providing examples in sequential format of a video essay that runs under fifteen minutes. I realize that's -quite- unconventional for UA-cam. Perhaps if I present as a three hour epic like HB, then you'll be able to grasp the points?
@@UnabridgedGamerUnconventional? You’ll find tons of UA-camrs doing similar videos but with MUCH more views. You rambled on regardless of how you intended it to go.
Take the feedback on next time instead of getting defensive & maybe the Channel will improve, sorry it hurt your ego.
If anything, Village is 6 in disguise.
Nah, Village is more 4 & 5 with first person shooting mechanics.
@@UnabridgedGamermechanics perhaps, but each boss has their own vibe, and pretty much none of them are done well (except for the Foundry section) - that is RE6 all over.
I thought your take was interesting but your whole nostalgia argument is confusing. Yes 6 isn't a bad game (just not nearly the best resident evil game) but people didn't hate it because of nostalgia goggles, they didn't like the game because it had too many unrefined ideas. Not to mention how survival horror was being treated and what capcom said about it. Also about what you said about the remakes: the 3 remake was disliked because it cut too much content and because of some of the changes, weird because 2 had a lot similar flaws. These modern remakes weren't made to be faithful like 1 remake (although 4 was really faithful) capcom said they were meant to be like new entries to the series. Also OG RE 4's writing wasn't sexist, maybe crass but I wouldn't go so far as to call it sexist. Overall your video was pretty good.
sorry but 6 is the best PC version only !
If you think RE6 is a good game, then you lack the understanding of what good game design actually is. It's a serviceable third person shooter with a ton of ideas just thrown in there with the assumption that variety = quality. Quantity/variety does not equal quality and it never will. This has been proven time and time again with Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, most open world games in general. Resident Evil 4 works and succeeds where RE6 didn't and failed because it was laser focused on having a few good ideas that were refined to a tee. No fluff mechanics added because they weren't needed. Resident Evil 6 took everything learned from RE4 and 5, then threw it all out for the sake of having a jack of all trades experience, but master of nothing result. Nearly every aspect of RE6 has something wrong with it, a problem that could have been avoided had they been able to slam down on the brakes and take some time to realize just how much of a clusterf**k of badly implemented ideas were going into that game.
I thinks it is good because I enjoyed it i dont think i need any understanding
@@KikiGufi-ec5xh Just because you enjoy something doesn't make it good. People enjoy The Witcher 3, but that doesn't mean it has good combat.
@@Krypto121clunky combat great story that seems to be the biggest issue in games only ghost seems to get them both as good but you can't replay it infantly. If you go after a new game plus you realize the new game plus one has gave you everything. DLC, multiplayer you can do, and different things you can get only on a second playthrough.
This is exactly how I feel when people call the re engine resident evil games good. I just can't fathom anyone calling re7, re2r, re4r, etc, "good."
Wow, your legs must be tired from making so many leaps and assumptions about me, my opinions, why I think the way I do. Shall I get you a pillow?
I know RE6 is the most flop from the entjre series but, they already know where the mistake is and when the remake come, i hope they can nail it perfectly because more people need to know how bulshit that hide and seek section with Ustanak
...You mean the hide and seek section most folks clear in one go? It's pretty forgiving?
OG-RE4 is not sexist, it's hilarious and underappreciated, I wasn't a fan of Capcom removing specific crazy and bombastic Anime like action or normal and logical encounters or scenes:
-Leon & Ada's first encounter in the castle and dialog.
-Leon & Ada's Island arrival/departure.
-Leon's grappling hook moment with Salazar in the Castle.
-Leon's scene when he goes to the radio control tower ,in the Island, to send an SOS request for backup not to mention providing Leon's current geographical position.
-Mike's Helicopter scene, when he decimates the Zombie/Plague crowd in slow motion only to be shot down by Sadler.
I do not understand any of these changes, if anything they lessened the experienced/story in specific moments or made the character stupid, less proactive and less logical, which is weird because RE4-Remake for the most part tries to make more sense from a narrative stand point, cohesiveness appeared to be a priority and it does a good job because, to me and given the number of times I played the OG I would either assume or connect the dots here and there and make sense out of it.
But in the remake they went out to provide a more concise story and polish a few things but why would they cut out a simple scene, it could have been a side mission just before moving forward, reach the Radio Tower for a distress call, am I supposed to believe that Hunnigan played the first game and that's why she knew where Leon was??
Res6 is the best ! end of discussion ! Nb three decades of video games on my pc and consoles ! Adios !
Resident Evil 6 sucks you've lost your mind 😢
I knew something was missing after I got my feet in the air and my head on the ground...
Nah RE3 remake was a disappointment. Playing 2 and then playing 3, i feel comfortable in saying that 3 was an anemic cash grab that was built off the hype of RE2. Thankfully RE4 maintained a good balance of feeling new, but hanging onto the nostalgia factor of the source material. That and Dead Space earlier this year made the case that good remakes are possible and shouldnt be chided, but unfortunately, at least in my book, RE3 is an example in the opposite direction.
RE3 is a good remake but our expection is so much higher when they manage to give us that high quality RE2 remake.
@@renhardhalim RE 2 ad RE 3 are reimaginings and they were designed to be different from their originals. Regardless they are still good games.
why do you complain too much nit inly you but almost everybody ! to me it s a Res game ! i love Res franchise so i play the game and enjoy it ! and if have an issue in gameplay i fix it ! PC version only !
RE4R's defenders drink public toilet water.
People who enjoy the Remake are fine. I have friends who've had plenty a good time with it. This is more about digging into why the mass market is responding how it is and how that public perception is shaping the franchise going forward.
And RE6 defenders have extra chromosomes
Boomer gamer
So like RE 4 Og's
Because RE4R has QTE tied to It's gameplay and you can take cover at some points it's more like RE6 than RE4? I'm starting to get a clue why the comment section for your review of RE4R was "interesting"
You're taking two points out of an entire video that goes so far as to include side-by-side comparisons. Really gotta wonder if you even watched the full video, where-in the thesis is "Boy, the trends in horror gaming sure are interesting and evolving quickly in a certain direction, aren't they?" not an RE4R vs RE6 video like you seem to think it is?
Dude. stop smoking weed. Or start 😂
Re 4 original was such a turn off for me and the remake became my favourite of the series.
It’s a matter of execution. Yeah I see your points about similarities with 5 & 6 , the difference is everything feels so much better here . I think you really need to be in a negative space on your life to dislike this game or even complain about objectively better things , like the damn gameplay. So satisfying , no other game feels so good to play.
*Insert REEFER MADNESS joke here*
