Your plot of land is ready for the next stage, whatever that might be.
On a purely selfish level, I think you could introduce a glamping area, for folk like me who wouldn't mind helping out for a few days, especially if animals are involved.
But then you'd have to feed me, or I'd be really grumpy!! But then, you have loads of spare spuds, and I like spuds.
Ask you son what he thinks when he's there.

Chickens are interesting creatures. They'll eat bugs for you, give you eggs, and can be quite fond of their owners. You do have to set them up a safety zone, of course. Snakes and other predators need to be kept away.

Mark I think a couple of animal buddies would be great company. A few Chickens for some eggs would be great….any little feathered or fluffy buddy that you think would add some fun, interest, and quality to your daily life. Just be realistic . I enjoy your musings whilst you wander around your lovely land. ❤

The field would make a cracking space for a dog agility course. In the uk its also a thing to hire a secure space for people to exercise there dogs privately.

I personally would wait before getting any animals. I know they can be great company but as you say it’s extra mouths to feed . I think it would be nice to have some music . If you want to do something interesting with animals use the animals from the rescue centre it doesn’t need to be from your own home .

I think it's more important for you to have some animals for yourself. Not a shelter. You have to make sure that you can cover the costs. A dog and a few cats, they are carnivores that don't need dry food because that stuff makes the animals sick. We would all be happy for you if you have pets and continue to watch and enjoy every video of yours

Hi Marc, get a few chicken, put them in your grassland. Chicken love scarifying "free range"and then coup them up at night, in the prepared chicken house/ run you have previously made, to keep them from the night time predators. You could make your land in to a mini farm attraction, if allowed for extra income... as I can see you love animals. ❤🙂

Hi Mark, thank you for your videos. The presentations are conversational and makes me feel I can have a ‘chat’ with you. So…no pun intended but I’m suggesting you get a cat (chat)🐈 or🐈🐈, they are independent, will deter mice and most of all, give as well as receive your love.
Remember, whatever ‘stray’ you choose, he/she/they will require time & energy.
Make small changes at a time.
Plan for an enjoyable visit with your son. He will physically leave while the memories you share will be forever🤟 …🚿Oh, the towel🙃

  • @carolwhite6979

I quite like your present chatty format done as you feel like it. As for animals, if you are looking to adopt or rescue a cat and/or a dog, they would easily become part of your conversation. Plus cats keep down rodent population, chickens are great helpers in the garden cleaning up small insects or quail and both produce eggs which is a plus. Given your thoughts of a pond, maybe a few of those ducks! They would keep the slugs and snails under control and are happy little, entertaining creatures. you could even offer sanctuary to a couple of goats! They would happily help control the wild side of your field and be sweet companions. Then again, no matter what, they all need care, housing, food and veterinary care. a lot of basic veterinary stuff you could easily manage, but it is the stuff you cant control that costs a bundle and breaks your heart. you are a smart man, and I am sure once you have thought it through you will figure out exactly what you want to add to your little estate. I am looking forward to your journey. take care.

    Hi Marc,
In regards to bringing animals in. First off you have to decide what you would like to have. Secondly, would those animals be allowed by your district. Thirdly, as you know, they can be a lot of work and need 24 hour care and vet bills. I think you would be awesome at it. Maybe a few sheep to start?

On the animals I'd stick to chickens for eggs and maybe a dog, a farm cat to keep the mouse/rat population down. What about just a couple of months a year running an AirBnB in the house and making a basic campsite in the field for July and August so it;s got time to recover for the winter months. The other thing you could so is a skills share and learn, where others come and camp for free but work for you, learning new skills on the fencing, building a shed and outbuildings, maybe a modest shower block etc for a ride on mower one day, that sort of thing. Just ideas. People want to learn and people want cheap accomodation to stay when passing through. 25 Euros a night, twice a week gives you another 200 Euro a months. Your the boss, your house your rules.
Great to see that long grass doing well, place is looking great. Keep going. Perhaps set a project or two for after your son leaves to throw yourself into to get over the blues. Every silver lining has a cloud as they say, planning ahead helps.

  • @carolchisholm433
    @carolchisholm433 3 місяці тому +1

Chickens would be a nice start since you have an existing run for them if you like eggs. Is there a demand for them so you could sell locally? Knew someone who took in boarding horses after her husband died. Helped pay the bills and she enjoyed talking with the people who came out to spend time with them. Is there a market for that in your area? As far as direction of your channel, you be you. The reason I enjoy watching is your authenticity as well as the beautiful landscape in SW France. You made me laugh out loud when you said something about making new friends with people that aren’t a** h****. Common mission. LOL.

Keep to the same video vlogs I know it's a lot of work but it's good to turn on tablet and your vlog pops up. The moons channel is about old racehorses. Without donations from subscribers I think they would struggle to feed and look after them properly including vet fees. It's a lot to think about but a cat and dog rescue sanctuary would be a brilliant idea especially if you managed to re-home them at a descent price rather than hundreds of euros just charge the feeding fees that would keep you afloat. You were so kind and loving to Dave I'm sure you will be the same to others. I wouldn't pick big animals but cat and dogs are a good size for walking and looking after. You could use the henhouse for the cats and build a shed for the dogs as you are a jack of all trades when you put your head to it. The chimney looks good already and you only just started. Keep positive thinking you will succeed.

I have 2 small dogs and prefer not to kennel them with a load of other dogs so I leave them with someone that charges 15 euro per dog per day. I take their own food and beds and the dogs are quite happy to stay there. Just a thought.

Hi ya Marc having a cat 🐈 is less work because they catch mice and other rodents. And dried food is best only one feed per day. The advantage is inlike fogs they bury their toliet under ground, so as not having to keep scooping up the dog mess. I have two cats 🐈 and they very affectionate and play together less bother, with a dog 🐕 you have to to take them for walkies several times a day and they bark. ❤every blessing whatever you decide. 😊

What did you like about taking care of Dave? Could you board an animal? Ask a vet.The chickens of your neighbor enliven your blog openings. Two dogs seem better for them than one. Can you introduce a platform, shelter, nesting sight to encourage endangered species into your nature preserve? Nature conservancies have nice employees. You mentioned making a pond. As for money, do not be shy about accepting sponsors. Even channels of the wealthy do it. There are people who flip real estate for money but the several channels I watch find the work rewarding in the very doing. But that is life at its best.
