    I want to say a big thank you. This solved my issue and I did it myself. I got the relay at Autozone for $40 and viola, my fans started to work. No more overheating. Again, Thank you....great job

    Your eight year old cooling fan relay article is one of the best. I wish the index and lookup tools would get better so that all the videos could be listed by make, model, year, range-of-similar models,engine type, subsystem_name, and count of likes. My car is 25 years old and I am now a more systematic mechanic. I wish the UA-cam method of indexing car repair videos would get better than the present hunt and peck system.

    I have been a certified tech for 45 years and I remember the chrysler has a solid state relay (as you have shown) but another model has the ss relay under and behinf the left front headlamp. It is very hard to get at. I have found that it is a lot faster to remove the left front headlamp assy. and with a 2" holesaw, drill a hole to the rear of the fiberglass rafiator support. Then you can reach the screws that secure the ss relay.

    The electric engine cooling system on these vans is a bloody nightmare. I've been thinking seriously of wiring a direct power circuit with a toggle switch in the cabin to the fans for the times that the automatic system goes haywire, which seems to be about every other month.

      408knw I know this post is 4 years old but just can't resist adding my 2 cents....
      It's not just the cooling electrical, the WHOLE ELECTRICAL system in these vans are insanely problematic....ugh. The stinking poor soldering on the instrument cluster has caused people to spend thousands of dollars in "trying" to fix their vans. The "Anti-Theft" system has caused the same problems, and the electrical issues list could go on forever, sadly.
      I do LOVE my van(1998 Chrysler Town & Country lxi 3.8) and she's been great to me even at 240,500 miles now. I'll keep running her until she just totally 1000% dies! Ever vehicle has problems and those common problems to each of them. I know most of the problems with these vans and know it inside and out. I sure don't want to have to learn a list of problems for another vehicle 😉, especially why she's still running and I'm still happy with her!

    yep thank you! i am replacing the relay to my radiator fan on my jeep liberty renegade, 2002. seems it is also wired to the airbag relay..which i think may be the recall issue for jeep liberty recalls and causes the radiator relay to notwork therefore causing the overheating issue for the relay to keep going out to the fan! only expert geniuses coulda figured this out. ;) why cant chrysler??? and how do i fix it completely i wonder...guess chrysler still dont know either.

    For my 1993 Dodge Caravan, 314,000 miles I am going back in to figure out the cooling problem. I seem to have blown a crack in the radiator tank after I forgot to turn on the manual cooling fan. This time I am setting up a resistor device to simulate the temperature sensor. I made a relay tester and I am going to listen for relays clicking before attaching the fan plug.

    I would like to know where you got the wiring diagram of the chrysler radiator cooling fan relay. I thank you for this video. The Haynes manual diagram doesn't have the 1-4 pinouts on the diagram, just a block drawing in which the signal wire LTGRN/BluTracer and the Power Out to the fans are reversed. It cose me a BCM over the weekend when I installed a new wiring plug relay combination. The generic plug the wire color coding was completely wrong. The diagrams that are all over the internet are the same as the Haynes manual. Anyone reading this, if you get a kit with the new plug pay no attention to the wire color coding, match your existing plug. I would have done this but the plug had already been replaced once so I had some question as to whether my issue might be related to the computer signal and the power out might be reversed. In retrospect the power out from the relay is obviously a larger wire. DOH!!

    I have 300C HENMI 2008 Model which An electric fan broke and a new fan was installed, but it did not work, so the fan worked when electricity was applied directly to it. We confirmed that electricity was coming to the relay, but we are not sure why electricity is not coming to the fan. I am interesting to have new power supply circuit for fan. How much Amp of fuse and relay do I need to set up with fuse box for direct power? Or do you have any idea to have power for electric fan ?
    Looking forward to hear from you. Thank you !!

    • @realfixesrealfast
      @realfixesrealfast  Рік тому

      You are approaching it the wrong way. If you power it externally you will bypass the computer's ability to control it and possibly overheat the engine. You should be fixing why power is not coming from the relay. Send me the diagram of your cooling fan circuit and I will try to help you.

    Why is my fan cutting right back off(at idle)within 2 to 5 secs after coming on? 2.5l Sebring, conv. And it causes pressures in ac system to fluctuate of course, but when it does cut on for those couple secs, pressures on ac gauge drop. And when it sits not on, they rise of course, until they get high enough to cut fan back on for couple secs, then it cuts right back off, again, at idle. Other conv I have doesnt do that. Fan stays on for a bit when it comes on. Not cuts right back off. Coolant temp sensor? Relays have been swapped and swapped with known good ones. Doesnt do anything diff. No codes ever. Weird. Thx for any input.

    I have a 1993 Chrysler town and country, there is only one fan motor with a four wire plug. I am not able to locate the relay as it is not in the same location as your video shows. I have bought manual and looked at every website and most refer to different years than 93, and none of them say where it is located. Can you refer me to any specific info for the 93 on location of this relay?

    I tested the fan and it works. Temp on dash never gets to the halfway mark so I'm guessing that is why the fans never turn on even when a/c is working. Is the temp sensor not working correctly? Should I replace relay? Engine seems and smells hot, even on short trips.

    I have had my 97 caravan in the shop 3 times in the last month replacing that relay. What can cause it to keep going bad? The shop put a whole new fan in because they said the fan was drawing too much power. A week later the relay went out again. I'm done with that shop. Is this a computer problem?

    I have an '04 Grand Caravan and the AC does not work even after recharging it with both sealant and refrigerant. I have also never seen the radiator fans work. So I replaced the fan relay switch apparently now for no reason. The fans still have never turned on but the temp gauge constantly reads below 1/2 mark. Should those two fans kick on frequently or are they only there for idling in hot weather? So confused. ha ha

      Hey thanks for the reply. Man did I complicate maters! Originally the key reader failed I brought a used computer along with the key, key reader, door handle and ignition cylinder. They all worked fine but it was out of a 2004 car. Different fan control circuits. Brought yet one more computer, this time from a 2002 and yeh ol' Jeep rides again. I think I am the only idiot that keeps put money into a 15 yr old jeep with 230km on it. Stop the bleeding!!!!!!

      @BillyGoat4x4 8 років тому

      There are two power levels. 30% and 100% according to the video. Turning on the AC should make both fans run, I think. I'm working on a 2000 caravan now and there is only one power output from the relay, so that means that both fans run simultaneously and never separate unless there's a high speed relay somewhere, which there might be. So I don't know
