That Fan Relay is the High Speed Fan Relay , it is controlled by the TIPM fuse M34 and also the Run Relay in the TIPM must be good, the Lo Speed Fan Relay is in the TIPM and J19 60 AMP fuses powers that, what happens is when the Lo Fan Relay turns on it powers through the resistor to the Fan, the High Speed Relay powers the Fan directly.
This is the High Speed Fan Relay. Your car should stay cool even with the low speed fan running. You probably have an issue with the low speed circuit as well K11 is the relay however it is controlled by the TIPM .. it might not be turned on. The High speed bypasses the resistor - the low speed goes through the resistor. That is the difference. Your resistor could be open, or your TIPM could be preventing the Lo Speed from running. I know by experience the car should and will stay cool in 100 degree heat and AC running and at a light ..The Air-conditioning may not work very well - but the car will stay at around 215 degrees or lower . One thing I did on my vehicle was get rid of the plastic thermostat housing and thermostat ..
I was wracking my brain trying to figure out why my fuse box had no relay for the fan. Of course they put the relay for it elsewhere... why would they ever put all of the relays together?
Good video. The only relay you mentioned does not have any metal heat sink fins, which is shown often for other years. For this year (2010) of Dodge Grand Caravan, is there only one relay as you show? Do you ever see when a relay seems to be working by using electric test meter, but does not seem to be working when installed in car?
I just bought new radiator fans 1 week ago thinking because they weren't turning on, (which they were not), however literally the same thing happened to me. Car almost overheated in traffic. This may fix the problem.

@jimdonnelly2780 the temperature gauge on the dash appears to be working properly, showing an overheating condition when stuck at a long traffic light, and cooling back down once I start moving again. Would the temp sensor you're referring to be different from the one that the gauge on the dash uses? Thanks!
Same symptoms with 2018 sxt. New thermostat, radiator, oil cooler. Passed leak down and head test. Gauges floats to overheating, 3/4s and the fans finally kick on. And then it cools down for a second. Possibly the same things?
I have a 2014 grand caravan and at that replay it has two. I replaced one of them and its still heats up to 222. Then cools when driving. I replaced the fan assembly too but still gets hot. Gauge working fine even the digital gauage thats how I know the current temp also my scanner with live stream shows the same temp.. please help... Thanks

Tested the fan, it still runs. Replaced the relay and it still won’t turn on when it hits running temperature or ac running, Fan just never turns on ever. Switched out all fuses. Still can’t get the fan to turn on. Any ideas?

In my case it's opposite... The high speed fan works good as per the coolant temperature but AC low speed don't come on when I turn on AC... And don't blow cool air when idle or stopped at signal
hey, my dodge grand caravan blows hot air while at idle or red lights but blows cold when at full speed..i replaced the fan, both engine cooling fan motor relays (one that looks green with a cylinder shape that goes in the fan & the all black relay that goes from fan to engine), also replaced water pump & still don't know what's the problem!!!
@@ericsimon881ur right ... I got the system recharge and some how it was still low so went back he put some more freon in system and bamm it started cooling good... Thanks for suggestion though buddy... Have a great day
cause I already replaced coolant sensor, fan relay, fan resistor and the fans still don't blow at fullest blast...and don't even remain on while the ac is on...they turn on and off...

I’m guessing a bad temperature sensor not telling the computer the coolant is getting hot.

You could be getting air in the system, put a clamp on the radiator to expansion tank hose

I did that and replaced the relay. But it still gets hot up to 221.. any other suggestions.
Make sure u dont have air in the system, replace or put a clamp on the hose that runs from the radiator to the expansion tank, also check freon levels
If there is high pitched whining noisd when fan comes, that means replace the fan right?
Yes, most likely the bearing is going out if there is a whine

Check pressure on AC system, make sure you are not low on freon or have freon leak

There is another relay on the other side of the fan, trace the wires and you’ll find it, I would try replacing that one

Yes, this fixed my issue.
cause I already replaced coolant sensor, fan relay, fan resistor and the fans still don't blow at fullest blast...and don't even remain on while the ac is on...they turn on and off...
