I think it was more a question of not having any option BUT to put up with it. Some games became unplayable because of it - I recall buying stuff where they'd just tried to do too much with the Amiga's hardware and it just didn't come off. But they're worked out they may as well sell it and get something, so they did.
I had a lot of them on my ZX Spectrum when I my Amiga A 500 .5MB. What a change now I fly some of them on my PC in DCS World. It just shows how good things are Microprose did a lot of very good sims.
