Waoooo! Now I was right all along! I was thinking to do the same modification but I was waiting for someone to do it first. Well done sir! What a difference, love it. 👌
EXCELLENT review on this knife Mike!!! I have this knife. I put one in my daughters car too. It can hold an edge and strong enough to pry with! She and I can count on this blade AND, your mods on it are exactly as you said, "perfect"!!! Your review on this knife is complete, there's nothing left to guess at... Excellent!!!
Nice review. It is a small version of a Kizlyar Phoenix (nice knife but the heat treating is a hit or miss). TOPS used the same design for its Pig Sticker.
Thanks! I may do an evaluation special. I put most of my collection to the test. Some surprising results, many reassuring ones, and a few crushing disappointments.
You'd like it. And yeah, unbelievable: I had a crazy time taking off that rear guard. Hard stuff. I even rechecked when I had more bare steel (can't run the test on the finish) and it's resisting my 60HRC file. Hard to resharpen, too. I'm almost worried it might be brittle. Maybe not the steel advertised?
I am NOT saying this is the case, but the coating will have a very high hardness. It you checked a coated part it would likely be harder than 60 while the steel is not.
Yes, I forgot to mention: I specifically tested the only exposed bare steel I could access, which was the edge bevel. I prefer to test a blade somewhere just behind that grind, because the sharpening grind can throw off my results, but figured I'd be testing the coating and not the steel underneath. Good point!
Nice work. I also hate finger groves btw. I prefer a neutral/ambidextrous handle in a fighting knife. Though i find most handles lacking anyway. I ended up just making my own combat knife. Lol
Why does everyone take a fighting knife and then go chop wood with it?... Wouldn't it be better to test it on a pig carcass or something like that?... Chopping wood?.. I get it on testing it's toughness, but what about its effectiveness for what it was designed to do... Great review...
Lack of extra pig carcasses lying around, I suppose. I mean, have you seen the price of meat these days? Probably be cheaper to stab my car. (In 47 years of training I've had one opportunity to practice on a side of beef, and that was at 1980 prices.)

Thank you, my friend!
Excellent video, great knife. Thanks for sharing.

Great review and good to see it modded. (much better imo)
Thanks!
Those mods really enhanced it a lot! 👍
Thanks! Yeah, I guess I chose wisely.
Great review. Does this knife have a hollow grind on it?
Flat saber grind on mine.
Exactly like the tops wild pig hunter! ❤ just smaller
Nice HRC tools there, Mike. I don't think I have seen anyone really show them off before.

@@michaelrizzo5523 Yeah, I would love to see a video like that. Take care!
Interesting knife. Its design is apparently inspired by the Kizlyar Fenix (Phoenix) and its clone Tops Joint Spec Ops / Pig Hunter.
Yes: very clear similarities!
Can the blade be turned around in the sheath for left hand carry?
It's not meant to, but you can make it work
They should have started me off with that model...but over 60 HRC? a little hard to believe.

I play with my own designs from time-to-time. Next up, I'll be (hopefully) turning an APOC Chop House into an Atrox-style Bowie.

Blade is nice not so keen about the handle
MADE in CHINA...I'll pass
I think it is for this knife is short version , full version’s blade length is about 20cm, so the balance will be fine
