I was recording with apple earphones and garage band a MacBook at one point and I wouldnt know it was apple earphones just listening to it because the mix was solid so I’d say start with whatever you got and practice your mixing skills until you get the money to upgrade as long as have a computer you should be okay to record something
am i good to use my macbook for my setup ? that’s what i was aiming to do .
@@oceanhudsonyes a lot of producers use macs
@@oceanhudsonbro i’ve got a pc with 2gb ram 4/5ths of the screen a usb mic and a pair of old don’t earphones and people compliment my mix. it’s not the software that makes a great song it’s a great producer(i’m by no means calling myself a great producer tho)
@@semexx3 i’m probably gonna be doing more youtube stuff with this than music , but that’s still encouraging. keep going bro !
Good advice
I love how straightforward this is
And within 2 months you'll have spent over 5k upgrading lol
FACTS 😂😂😂😂😂
What do you plan on upgrading? If it's any answer other than acoustic treatment of your room it's wrong.
@@skorperssome actual good headphones
@@lolitude69 Such as?
Guess no one knows what good headphones are lol.
Imma do the Canadian prices version of this, it’ll be double 😂
and triple in MYR
They're all bad choices lol 😂
Yep. Started out with an AT2020 and a Scarlett Solo... Pretty great for the price!
was there a lot of background noise
@@crlitoh For me, there was a bit, but it really depends on your situation and what you have your gain set to / how far you plan on using it from. What type of background noise do you have?
@@natec1 classic static white noise
@@natec1 I have a carpet floor my room is really small and on top of my carpet floor I have foam on top of it.
@@crlitoh I see. Well as long as it's quiet enough, I think it would be just fine. It does pick up a lot of what's in the room though. I have computer fans and the air conditioning on a lot of the time, and when I was using the AT2020, it still wasn't a problem. If there's no actual source of the sound, and your room is treated well enough, it should be fine I would say.
Computer, DAW software (Cakewalk still free, get it while you can), cables, mic stand, might want a midi controller keyboard.
The focusrite also comes with a bunch of plugins and free software so the value is crazy good,to get the free softwear you just gotta go to where you register your interface
Hi, and what about Behringer UMC204HD?...
@@js----so what do you think is better ?
@oceanhudson for better preamps, volt 1 for similar price. But overall, get a used apollo solo. ($300) No pops, crackles and industry plugins that your favorite artist uses. You can get cheap deals with uad depending on the month. Never planning on upgrading ever again. Dream for home studios. Im on windows btw.

Lmao I have a 47 inch table with FL Studio a cheap mic a cheap midi keyboard and a cheap speaker. You’re not the only one there 😂

Bandlab is a respectable free daw. It comes down to more on what your running it on and what gear your using.
I spent all night last night trying to figure out what I need for a set up and not really finding a concise video about it, and then find this video the next morning lmao thank you sir!
Same. It just popped up while I was scrolling reels. Bro has some good great content with lotsa knowledge and tips.
thanks mate, this is exactly wat im saving up for next

Upgraded from At2020 and Focusrite solo to TLM 103 and UAD Apolla, I would never go back.
Upgrade to a sm57, it doesn't have all of that harsh and fake detail of a cheap condensed. There's more big hits out there recorded with dynamics than cheap copys
At2020 is a very harsh microphone, and scarletts are not so great interfaces, great upgrade buddy!
Hi, and what about Behringer UMC204HD?...
I'll put my cassette recorder up against your interface any day. It has a rewind, fast forward, AND pause!
Is this ironic lmao
Monitors or good headphones are a must
Fun fact: Ocean Eyes by Billie Eilish & Finneas was created using the at2020, scarlett, & logic pro
God bless was looking for a simple helpful guide on what mics are the go to now days n this video went straight to it 💯.
Help, how to reduce noise in my recording? The background noise is unbearable. I’m using Bandlab software
i remember trying to remove white noise on audacity and its not that great really. Theres dozens of reasons for white noise in recordings, maybe youre too far from the mic, maybe its your mic itself, maybe your fan or a/c is on. I hope u figure it out !
Audio tech headphones 39
behringer interface one output 45
mic i have the at2020 i recommend this mic for if you're doing more melodic music it's good on a budget 90
and you can really crack any daw or just buy it Fl is my go to though and there are a lot of free vocal presets out there you can mess around with play around with them until you like one that you can tweak to even better match your voice or just outright make one from scratch. the presets only use stock plugins besides maybe autotune
you can doesnt mean you should. Especially those sound interface gonna make you regret buying later.
I study music at college atm but don’t have any sort of a music studio setup, and I’m working atm so I’m going to save up and buy a Mac mini m2, and also a midi keyboard, headphones, audio interface and with a microphone I might wait abit before buying one as atm I don’t really sing

Hi Friends, Windows laptop or Mac mini M2?...
Tysm!!! Ive searched everywhere for a video that explains how in earth i set thisnup and what i need. My husband bought me a beautiful microphone amd its a condenser mic but when i saw the cable i was so confused as to what i needed to set it up. Im still confised how to get this set up on a computer but lol ill get there
I just bought the focusrite kit with mic headphones and interfsve
Gonna need a pop filter for the at 2020 and maybe a shock mount too
No software??
A new focusrite comes with ableton lite :)
Yea and you also need a daw software to record on , and if you choose fl studio it’ll cost you another 180$ to unlock it but it’s worth it
Forgot a computer and a DAW
Well if u had a laptop i think you can download them
Bandlab free
@@batz_tusk8274i dont have any computer so no
@@batz_tusk8274yeah, you can download them. FOR MONEY.
Yeah you can get some free DAW’s but they’ll probably suck unless you have a mac
I just got all of this and spent 300.03
How is it does it sound good
😂
??? How is it
You da man love the vids ❤
You can get a mixing desk from behringer for the same price as a Scarlett
you don't specifically need closed backs, and more often than not, open backs have superior quality and soundstage
Different applications for both really. Yes, open back is better for mixing & mastering but not ideal if used for recording because then you’ll just get bleed into your takes so closed back is used for tracking. Closed back can still be used for both scenarios, so then it’s the better choice of the two if you could only pick one.
apple buds built in mic 😊
arturia minifuse 2 is a lot more b4b than the focusrite
Do I need the interface to make the microphone work
what about an Acoustic set up for example if I'm playing a guitar or something? (I am in AUD $) but it's fine I can convert the USD. I have tried getting my keyboard and guitar into the PC in the past but I'm a bit lost on how tbh.
Can I connect my Audio Technica BPHS1 to a Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen to OBS Studio in my laptop?
i have the Focusrite scarlet 2i2 , should that be fine for both headphones and a desk mic at once ?
youre underselling the AT2020 it is not a “great budget option” it is a popularly used and yet somewhat known mic
thanks
I bought the Volt 1 which I love but don’t know if the scarlet would be an upgrade
Bless ✨
I had these headphones years ago ...I still miss them buy I have a Beyerdinamic 990 now haha
Thank you
Can you create a video on mic placement for recording vocals?
Singer should know how to use a mic, and move there head to and away from the mic during low volume and high volume Proformerce.
It really isn’t a set amount. It is up to you to get the sound you desire. Closer usually has more low end and higher normally has less. Closer will get more mouth noise and farther won’t. About 6 inches from the mic is usually best, but that varies.
Close to the mic with a low volume and some compression should be a good starting point. Maybe add a noise gate
Great job
I remember when the at2020 was like $200 back then
I used a school Chromebook, Bandlab, Boss Me 80, & some cheap shitty headphones from my school to record my first album.
Thank you👍

What about the PC/Mac? Does the NT1-A kit include it? 🤔
But what kind of computer do u need
Thank
But focusrite sounds so trash😩 I mean seriously ive wondered for yesrs why my vocals always sound so bad focusrite for whatever reason just doesn't sound anywhere as good as say an audient id24 or volt even. My point is, a volt isnt much more than a Scarlett solo 3rd gen right?
Which software would you recommend?
What about a laptop? What do you need for a mobile setup
Man thanks but I didn't catch the last part did you say XLR cable🤔
Get a sm57 instead of at2020
I remember when it was 2 phones and a bt speaker or aux cord in the car. Quality was dogshit but the vibes, immaculate!
Ok, no DAW, got it bro! 😂😂😂😂😂
Bro starters doesnt need focusrite interface look for some m audio or something like that
Yep! The focusrite is overkill for this mic
Hi, and what about Behringer UMC204HD?...
Do you need computer software? Can you lay down other instrument tracks? TIA.
Thank you for driving this point home! I’m tired of people saying they need thousands of dollars to start recording, and I always say no you don’t!😂 Honestly you can record in decent quality strait on your iPhone/ipad!😎
Ok I have a line 6 helix which interface can I plug the helix and a mic into simultaneously or can the helix go in as a separate interface I've heard people tell me about that in the past
is the microphone that came with The Focusrite a good one?
Not so great, but the at2020 neither
Is that a Sennheiser E835 you are talking thru?
Can someone tel me exactly what laptop to use that’s the cheapest but work good ENOUGH to use in fl studios
why not open back?
All you actually need is a half decent laptop and headphones and free MPC beats DAW to get started.
@lawlesslee1405 Anything that can be used to make music is an instrument including a laptop who's keys can be used as a music keyboard when a midi keyboard is not present.
@lawlesslee1405 I can play and record a real electric guitar or I can play the keys and select a electric guitar emulsion, I dont care as long as it sounds good.
@lawlesslee1405 No argument if you play guitar live that's great, I'm a producer more then a live proformer, I have 2 electric and one acoustic guitar for Me or other people to use when producing a song.
@lawlesslee1405 The guy said that you need a mic, and that's what's recording your guitar so your original comment dont make much sence.
@lawlesslee1405 Great, well goodbye.
Show me where to buy that NT1A bundle for $220 and ill buy 2
Can I use sony 1000xm4 for the headset?
Im looking at my 50$ setup right in the eyes while watching this
😂😂same. My BM-800 and no name interface from Temu have greatly disappointed me
So I can record my vocals for my music for about $500 or less! Cool!
dont forget a daw
Can't u download them if u have a laptop
Yes you can. FOR MONEY.
@@BAND-MAID-USAa decent amount are free or have a free version that would work for a beginner
Yeah definitely not close back headphones. You need open backs if you're mixing or producing, I'd recommend the Samson sr850s
£221 here in England - is it worth it 🤔
yea but what about like how to use any of this (may or may not be free content idea)
Can I get some recommendations for the best noise canceling headphones on a budget?
Not really… if you want good headphones, they are expensive. I’d recommend waiting until Black Friday as that’s coming up :)
Are you talking in Sennheiser e835?
Computer or laptop monitors fl studio or logic pro
In Sweden dollar is $300
What abt computers or laptop?
What kind of software do you recommend (on a budget)?
If you have a Mac, then GarageBand. If you don’t, maybe Bandlab?
Cakewalk is free
Never mind my daws that cost more than all of this combined
But where is the keyboard!?
No offense, but the sennheiser hd 206 fall apart way too easily, and the sound is alright, but only with good pads, which you would have to probably glue on bc of the way the default pads attach
Does the interface work on Xbox
Replace AT2020 with a AKG P120, and replace that sennheiser with a takstar pro 82. Interface is enough.
I’ve thought about getting the focusrite but I seen the motu m2 that has lower latency and even lower if you download their drivers. I’m looking jus to record vocals but my computer is old a 2012 MacBook Pro 16 gb 256 ssd. I know waves and Antares have plug ins that they say are low to no latency. I’m just trying to use pitch correction and reverb while tracking and hopefully some kind of compression and eq too. Anything else I could add in post afterwards
Your computer isn't stopping you from reaching your potential. I bought an £80 setup and look how far I've come 👍
@@deathdoesroblox do you know what latency is and ssd or how the programs I mention run? Do you know what reverb and pitch correction is? The only way you running a 80 dollar set up is if you bought some dinosaur machine that has old programs that never got updated or you bought some stolen gear. And if your referring to a mic and audio interface not a computer, yes you can stick ANY audio interface and mic into ANY Computer and record dry vocals with direct monitoring but if you wanna use effects while recording this eats up more cpu and affect LATENCY a audio interface will not help you here unless your running a DSP audio interface which are almost 1000$ You will need a newer computer because a old computer will have glitches crackles and pops in the audio not being able to handle the Effects which are called VST3 by the way. You can get away with some comfort reverb but I’m talking about running a entire vocal chain. Pitch correction/compression/eq/saturation/faders/delay/reverb/doublers/ and more and you need a more powerful machine to record dozens of layers. Most old machines only get away with 8 to 23 before it messes up and have to start freezing their tracks. The new MacBook m1s and m2s can record HUNDREDS without having to freeze tracks. So good for you son that your 50$ behringer audio interface and 30$ shure mic doing well. Dads Gota get himself a newer MacBook
Hi, and what about Behringer UMC204HD?...
don’t fg da computer 💀
But it needs to be mentioned: This is only for producing music. To mix and master a track you need way more. :)
This is why many producers send their songs to the right mixing and mastering engineer
i cant make my at2020 sound good 😢
2035 are also good as well, I have one that is trying to sell right now for 70 if someone needs one
Suddenly I thought Elon musk with moustache describing😂
No laptop or pc?
No sound monitors
Thats like a professional setup in Iran :D. I Mean as a part time free lancer I can't even effort money to spend 100 dollors. even an employee of the government receives around 200 dollors per month.

Can I use AirPods Pro instead of these headphones ?
You can and it would be better than really cheap headphones. Be careful when adding bass, though as those headphones are naturally boosted
