Wisp is cool but needs more 'mass' in the middle. Huntress: Why get rid of the owl helm? It references their sentinel ability... Dryad: I'd shrink the hair a bit more, it looks very extra and distinct to the point of them resembling a protagonist. Also the javelin looks metal now, wasn't it all wooden? Glaive Thrower looks good. Druid of the Talon looks good. Druid of the Claw looks beastly. I'd say the change in appearance is strongly for the better. Bear form too. Mountain Giant looks good, though I'm undecided on the fidelity of the fingers. The original looked like they had less fingers. Giving them hands that are this detailed gives an undeserved sense of dexterity. Keeper of the Grove looks good, although the skin color is now salmon instead of lavender. Not sure about that. Priestess of the Moon looks good. Treant looks good. Bird looks good. Hippogryph looks like it's an entirely different creature. Where before it was white and midnight blue with a midnight blue raven beak, it is now a parrot with a brown hawk beak. The antlers seem too big, too. I like the armor, though. Green Dragon, not sure why the crest on it's back is gone. Chimaera looks good, if a little naked near its tail and legs. Demon Hunter is female looks good. Male, Illidan and metamorphosis too. Warden: Why ditch the wings? Faerie Dragon is fine. Owl looks great. Messenger too. Not sure why Shandris lost her hood. Assassin looks fine. Naisha looks cool. Sentry looks good, but I'd darken the legs and hair a bit personally. But overall an improvement. Spirit of vengeance should be transparent. Maiev simply looks better in HotS and WoW, mostly due to her pose perhaps. Malfurion is a clear improvement, really good. HotS model has slightly more detail sure but I'm happy. Bummed to see loss of the owl motif on the battleship. Tree of life face looks less grandmotherly / gaia, and more like a deranged elemental. Otherwise good. Frigate has too much metal on it for my taste. Moon Well is a clear improvement. Altar could use more forest behind it. Ancient of War is good. Ancient of Lore wiggles too fast. I'm not sure why not just make the lanterns glow blue. Ancient of Wind looks amazing, really good. Hunter's Hall looks good except the roof tiles are a different type, no longer resembling their bamboo roof artistic origins. Ancient Protector looks cool, I love the mushrooms and grandfatherly look. Less avian but I think it's an acceptable change. Chimaera Roost sure has a lot more stone now, not very recognizable but good. House is cool, but again with the roof tiles. Oh I guess the shop is a turtle now. That does make it clear it's not an earth giant of some sort, I suppose. Hope they fix the lily clipping in the water. Horn looks cool. Barrow Den looks cool. Pedestal looks cool.

@@Matisaha I mean, the Amazonian depicted in DC comics and animated series look sexier than this. These abs are just too hardcore to be on a woman body :-s
I've liked a lot most of the Reforged redesigns for the other races, but for some reason I feel like the Night Elves don't look right. Almost like they belong to a different game, like they aren't "Blizzard-y" enough.
Mostly comes from downscaling a lot of elements that make the silhouette more recognisable. The gigantic forms of the older models make them memorable.. now they look generic and normal. The originals are a masterwork of design for the resources they had..
At first I liked reforged models, but I don't like them anymore they changed them too much many of them are ugly too realistic not cartoonish anymore so I won't buy the game.
@@naidenpetrov2027 True, back in the day.. (and i dare say even today) they still look fantastic. They were easy to see and read. You always knew what unit you were using, unlike now..
@@Starfals you can't because it isn't made yet. There is a model called Malfurion (without stag) in the editor but the model isn't ready so they use a placeholder of the only Malfurion model they have ready ,which is the stag one. Also there should be Malfurion model with a more black Cape so...
@@Starfals In my case i like both. I have to say Blizzard did a good job now the models are kinda like the warcraft movie and that is not a bad thing on my eyes.
Yes, it is exactly the same engine. I guess we never had the horse power to do more back in 2002, so in a way.. it is amazing for sure. I wonder what we will do in 2040. Still, people expected more out of Reforged, even of the animations, cuz they are tied to the old models from what i hear. They cant do them too smooth and well.
Probably not, because nearly everyone loves every single thing that BLizzard do. I do too, but i also find things that don't fit sometimes. Not everything is perfect sadly :/
Same! Heroes has the best art style and visuals for any Fantasy RTS. Seeing that Alterac Map makes me soo sad. This is still not bad, but Heroes did a better job.
I feel like in general the “structure” of the models look good, but somehow much of the personality was taken away. For example I like the different head shapes of old models (just look at the dryads cheeks), I would think that new graphics are good but please retain some of the personality!!
I agree which is kinda ironic because they tried to add personality by giving each of the heroes there own distinct look instead of being a carbon copy of the unit they portrayed, and yet took away some of the uniqueness that other units facial designs. I mean we all have different faces right? While the new facial template designs are welcomed and not at all offensive I just wish they built a bit on previous ideas like keeping some of the different facial marking/paint, eye color etc to add a bit of personality instead of basically all having the same facial layout like its copy pasted. I will say some of the design choices are starting to grow on me though like the faces but that doesn't mean I want half the female cast basically to have the same face lol - p.s. didn't like them at first as I thought they look lifeless/dead eyed but I don't mind them now. Used to have harsher take on the new designs previously but I guess seeing them side by side and up close does add perspective.
One of the most striking examples I found in this video was Tyrande's face back then and in Reforged. Old version has those narrowed eyes and narrow cheeks, grim look. An expression oozing stereotypical elvish arrogance and authority. On the other hand the modern face is utterly forgettable, it has nothing particularly interesting about it and just looks like any normal person.
(Okay, these were pretty cool. I've had... CONCERNS with other unit redesigns... especially the Scourge's so far. But these? Pretty much all of these I liked. I'm good here, thank you for sharing.)
@@Starfals Only before Cataclym... But in 2002, she already has 2 colors, as your showed here, total blue color in game and blue-teal in the (beautiful) drawing on the jacket. I miss the teal one too... :/ Normally, her hair should be the same color as the gems she wears, (that's just the opposite situation here xD). In WoW Cataclysm, we can see her on the loading map of Kalimdor... She have green-teal hairs... But she have a yellow filter on her, as her gems ! Now she have this filter all the time /facepalm xD However, it is too late now. :/
They made alot of changes that are not even close to the Warcraft 3 versions.. i also wonder why. Starcraft remastered is a better remake because its 1-1
@@Starfals Because this is not a remastering ... The SC was a remastering so the models look the same only more polished, the reforged thing is more of a remake

@@Starfals And ugly. Purple skin and green hair looks decent/striking on Malfurion because of the rest of his design and theme, but with Tyrande it just clashes. And makes her look like Mal's sister instead of wife.
@@Starfals activision outsourced the models to asia and those guys pobably just copy pasted the models from some fake warcraft mobile game, colors included, lol.
They're hunters... watch some hunters on youtube and you will see, there are different uses for hunches for hunters.. hunching while standing is to be able to run away or prepare for a melee combat, or slowly push forward.
14:04 the left one is much better. Posture and gestures looks suspicious and intimidating. Like assassin or secret bodyguard should be. The right one just brawling and selfimportant pose, more warrior like, but she is too thin to make right impression.
@@Starfals I often see people talking crap over classic wc3 and Reforged stating that it's the fault of the older engine that Warcraft 3 doesn't look like Company of Hero's realistic or some crap like that. Blizzard sort invited the wrong type of audience by choosing to go #realistic... Also I don't know if it's just me but sometimes I feel like I'm the only nostalgia fuled mofo around here that appreciates how well classic has aged In it's own regards.
18 years, it took me to finally understand the nuances in Malfurion's design. He has the hairstyle of a Druid of Claw, but has the wardrobe of the Talon.
That archer pose is really hideous. Yes I know that the OG models were crouched, but the low-polygon graphics made it not very noticeable. Whereas with these graphics, it looks like a male WoW troll. Makes my back hurt just looking at it. That's not a natural stance in any way. I wish the archers stood and shot like Shandris.
Gotta say I disagree, dunno why but to me it feels more natural. Like a ranger in the woods keeping a low profile vibe. Works for me so it's unfortunate that many others seems to feel like it's off somehow.
Kinda sucks that they changed Tyrande's hair from blue to green. Felt like it added a bit of variety rather then have it the same color as huntress and other units. Like we get it they're nature people, now give me back my variety xD
Some of these look great, at least in the closeups, but damn, I'm still super nervous they're rushing this with a January release date. I really hope Actiblizz management understands releasing a game late will hurt them less than releasing a bad game, but given the recent set of management decisions over the past year...I worry they won't make the right call, and we'll end up with more cutbacks and resrructuring yet again.

I miss the shadows from the new version. The characters would blend to the environment much better.
I agree with you, the light on this one looks dull
18 years of development - slightly better picture WOW NO WORDS
They didnt work for 18 years :D They work for 1 or 2 i think. But yea... so many years and we just get a bit better this and that. Should have been a bigger update, or even a new engine.

why illidan turned into a women ?
They got female version of some heroes because of the WoW lore
@@Starfals more like because of the feminism kappa
Alex Heller Not complaining about them booties tho. Bit disappointed that I didn’t see the female metamorphosis form.
i wish we had all these hairstyles for night elves in wow, they look so good ):
I wish that too, it would be so cool. I like that long kind of hair
you have to buy the new expansion of wow to get finally some hairs and customization XD
I've liked a lot most of the Reforged redesigns for the other races, but for some reason I feel like the Night Elves don't look right. Almost like they belong to a different game, like they aren't "Blizzard-y" enough.
Yea, Heroes of the storm got it right, this just looks off. Its like another game, still not bad but not super warcrafty
I think the male units fit pretty well, the females do look a little off, but not enough to sink the game for me.
@@naidenpetrov2027 True, back in the day.. (and i dare say even today) they still look fantastic. They were easy to see and read. You always knew what unit you were using, unlike now..
Can't wait, this looks fantastic, really missed this game over the years.
You should play it, its endless fun with the custom maps :) Its like GTA 5 in a way but even better
Starfals Pre-ordered a few weeks ago!
I never understood why Malfurion was riding a moose in the "frozen thone" if he was on foot in "reing of chaos" and in the wow he walks again on foot
Same and whats even worst is.. the walking model is gone from Reforged, so now he only rides the moose.
I can't even find a walking model anymore lol.
@@Starfals you can't because it isn't made yet. There is a model called Malfurion (without stag) in the editor but the model isn't ready so they use a placeholder of the only Malfurion model they have ready ,which is the stag one.
Also there should be Malfurion model with a more black Cape so...
the same with illidan's feet and hoofs
The same reason why he was renamed from just "Furion" to "Malfurion", "Balistas" became "Glaive Throwers" and "Steam Tanks" became "Siege Engines"
obv furion bought a mount after RoC
5:30 is really amazing. So cool to see how these characters have evolved over the years
Indeed! It is a HUGE update for sure, altho.. heroes of the storm/WoW did a lot of the work first
Illidan looks absolutely amazing!
I agree he looks amazing. Not a fan of female demon hunter though. She looks too scrawny in comparison and not badass enough.
Strangers to see Warcraft characters with real human proportions after all of these years of their cartoony style.
Its super weird for sure lol, and thats why most people still like the old models more. Its more cartoony
@@Starfals In my case i like both. I have to say Blizzard did a good job now the models are kinda like the warcraft movie and that is not a bad thing on my eyes.
Warriors of the night, Assemble! RAWWE
Lol, it sounds exactly like that
I love comparisons. Pretty admirable the fidelity they pulled off with the models and animation if this is the exact same engine.
I hope blizzard Activision paying attention to these videos, because you strike some very valid points my friend.
Probably not, because nearly everyone loves every single thing that BLizzard do. I do too, but i also find things that don't fit sometimes.
Not everything is perfect sadly :/
@@Starfals this is why I draw. I will also study 3d graphic design, maybe we as the community can help yea?
I do love how almsot everything retains its silhouette through all the different games within this franchise.
I wish they used all the Heroes of the Storm models and modeled the missing ones following that style.
Same! Heroes has the best art style and visuals for any Fantasy RTS. Seeing that Alterac Map makes me soo sad. This is still not bad, but Heroes did a better job.
Poly count is far too high on the HotS versions of the characters.
@@Mithilius yeah she doesn't look like a high priestess at all

I miss the teal one too... :/
Normally, her hair should be the same color as the gems she wears, (that's just the opposite situation here xD). In WoW Cataclysm, we can see her on the loading map of Kalimdor... She have green-teal hairs... But she have a yellow filter on her, as her gems !
Now she have this filter all the time /facepalm xD

By far the best one is Illidins model, he went from an awesome demon badass to a freaking sexy demon daddy

I don't understand why they did what they did to Maiev. The look is supposed to mimic an owl...
@@Starfals Starcraft is a simple hd remaster, Warcraft Reforged adds a lot more things... but it's also more risky.

Archers are uglier tho. Standing like woot
yeah, exactly what I was thinking while I was watching them, they're hunched over like gremlins or something
something off about them for sure
They're hunters... watch some hunters on youtube and you will see, there are different uses for hunches for hunters.. hunching while standing is to be able to run away or prepare for a melee combat, or slowly push forward.
They're also hunched over in the original, it just seems less awkward because of the lower detail model
Is it me or is it the Exact same way trolls stand?
I don't like how the dragons spines and web don't go all the way to the top of his head like the old one. Makes him look more menacing
So true, I was also hoping they would fix the webs but i guess that wont happen
I really wish they used the engine from heroes of the storm this looks like it was made for a low budget mobile game ad.
Same, i also prefer that one. I guess its a modified Starcraft 2 engine, thats why its so new but also similar to SC2.

@@Starfals I often see people talking crap over classic wc3 and Reforged stating that it's the fault of the older engine that Warcraft 3 doesn't look like Company of Hero's realistic or some crap like that.

Thanks! :) It did take some effort actually
Good point, most people actually noticed it too :) I guess its too obvious lol
@@Starfals Ya was the first thing I noticed as well. I was like man she got bad posture looks like me while hunched over typing on my keyboard xD
