I was really worried they would screw up the fruit stand. Glad to see they nailed it. @14:40
Hahhahahaha! good one
Tens of different human and elven models and portraits reimagined and some even completely overhauled from arguably the best Warcraft game 17 years ago...meanwhile, HE is worried about the fucking Fruit Stand...
@@tommygunengineer9184 i mean yea
Tommygunengineer it was a joke!!!
@@RealKestrelStar You don't say... 😂
Archmage > blue crystal staff > fireball
Hydromancer > fire staff > water splash
Proof positive that transmog existed in war 3 😁
Hope they will change that. I mean, that's retarded the fact that the mage launch a water splash or anything else than fire, and the staff go "By fire be purged!"
And the animation of shooting arrows (especially Sylvanas) is weird too
I love how Kael'thas Sunstrider, Prince of the Blood elves is just... Kael.
Like, most of them have their full name displayed. Sometimes even their titles. But he, he won't even have his full name.
Here are Muradin Bronzebeard, Dagren the OrcSlayer, Halahk the Lifebringer and Sylvanas Windrunner.
What? Him? Oh, that's just Kael.
Well, Jaina is lacking her surname and any title too.
But yeah, poor Kael.
*Karl
@Waldzwölfe i mean that's just because the models are mixed with the blood elf models. Look at sylvanas for example. She has blue eyes. It just so happens that the blood elf version of the models were created/datamined first
@Waldzwölfe nah you're just being dramatic and beyond emotional. Even back in classic warcraft 3 models had difference with their high elf versions be it in color or in name with the differences coming with the frozen throne. An expansion that is a part of the reofrged package.
Also for the record, many MANY asked for dark iron dwarves aswell so dont use that as an arguement.
Trust me, Malfurion is only called Furion in Reign of Chaos
This makes me emotional tbh like this is my childhood game and a few years back I wondered when they were going to stop With wow. And when I saw the announcement trailers last year I literally went to go search for my warcraft 3 box with frozen throne and roc and replayed the whole story again. I just cant wait for founding of durotar to be remade that was my fav chapter in ft
Yesss, I played when I was young and could barely keep up with the story because english is my 2nd language and the models were identical... can't wait to play with the new models and whatnot and get immersed in the story
@@metricsplease when I was younger I had a older brother and he told me cheats and he said I can use it whenever I struggle in campaign and I used it whole time😂 but I'm happy I atleast finished it the proper way
@@T1NG0 Thnks for sharing ur story. I felt a pang of nostalgia too when I was reading your comment
17 years are a long time. You can clearly see, how graphics are changed. Models are much more detailed.
@@Pr0fane26np
Im really inpressed they go through and give variety where the original game just re-used the same model, just sometimes tinted, recoloured, or differently scaled.
14:10? Kidding?
@@muchospendechos That's like the one exception. Take a look at the various creeps or the hero units and you get noticeable differences where the original game didnt care at all.
@@Janx14 agreed with you there, I think they have plans to build on this game. But why did they do that with the towers lmao, I get its elemental based but a bit bigger difference couldve been used instead
@@jakobsaronge1409 I think some not done yet, so model stay the same. You can look up others video most model not complete yet
@@Janx14 yea because back in the days the game experience was important, not the looks of some models, which are just copy/pasted over the original characters. If there is no content update to the original game, like a new campaign this will be just a very expensive mod and a ripoff.
FINALLY THE KNIGHT IS USING HIS LANCE IN COMBAT
Sorceresses no longer look smug in their animated portraits, nor do they have those cool eyeshadows.
Kael'thas cape is basically his HotS Master Skin's cape. Love the little upgrades to details that makes the characters tie-in to the current lore better!
Looks like shit compared to the old design.
@@huntman1412 ok boomer
I hate the current lore
LOL campaign paladins are simply epic. And they respected what was said in the books that only Uther was a clergyman, and Tirion, Saidan, and Turalyon were Warriors, and Gavinrad a Knight who all believed in the light; so I would have a joke that some paladins after them would wear Swords and Shields and others the Hammer.
uther was a knight before he was a paladin not a clergyman
@@xxxxx6622 Bro, I am not one of those who contradict or argue.
But in the books it is made clear that Uther was first a cleric, in "Tides of Darkness" Alonsus Faol himself mentions him as his assistant in the church, referring to him as a believing man of faith, and it was precisely Uther the first to be named Paladin; something that is confirmed in the second book "Beyond the Dark Portal" and in the wiki itself and gamepedia it is said that Uther was a cleric, then paladin.
Also take into account that Paladins are also referred to as "Knight" as a sign of respect. The same is also mentioned in the Wiki and Gamepedia.
@@robindecretk3307 in tides of darkness alonsus faol says that uther is his candidate for paladins because he is a devout man, uther himself is asked by lothar whether he was a knight or not and uther confirms being one, here i'll quote the book:
Uther took the lead, speaking while Lothar was still wondering what to say to them. ―My lord, the archbishop has
told us of the upcoming battle, and of the Horde‘s approach. We are at your service, and at the service of the
people. Use us as you see fit, for we would smite our enemies and drive them forth, shielding this land with the
Holy Light.‖ He was a tall, powerfully built man, with strong, vaguely familiar features and stern eyes the color of
the ocean. Lothar could feel the man‘s piety as an almost physical presence, very much like Faol‘s own but lacking
the archbishop‘s warmth.
―You were a knight before?‖ he asked.
―Aye, my lord,‖ the Paladin candidate replied. ―But I have been a follower of the church and a devout believer in
the Holy Light since my youth. I first met the Archbishop when he was merely Bishop Faol, and he was kind
enough to serve as my spiritual advisor and mentor. I was honored when he told me of his plans for a new order,
and offered me a place among them.‖ Uther‘s jaw tightened. ―With the coming of these foul creatures, I know we
will need the Light‘s blessing to defeat them and protect our lands, our homes, and our people.‖
@@robindecretk3307 Uther was mentioned as a Cleric originally from Stormwind in the Warcraft II game but the Tides of Darkness novel changed it to him being a native from Lordaeron as well as a knight who was also an apprentice cleric (I think to make him more closer to Arthas). Not sure which one is canon in WoW or what they will do in the reforged.
But it'a weird to see Dagren the Orcslayer hold the Ashbringer...
I like how you can see that high elves at the begining were just an idea they had of like ancient beings and thier buildings just look more nature and "ancient", and now after WoW happened they are much more blood elf style with floating things and magic
Well it is more that High Elves were always part of the Alliance. So their lore was tying elves to human society with a mana core at the center of their city that brought them to an age of magic and technology. Aside from ship designs with their Elven Destroyers they didn't really bring anything else.
Once they left the Alliance they no longer had access to the technology they once had. So their culture devolved back into what is natural for High Elves. A magic focused culture. Making them mana addicts was not really planned for much else other than to make drug jokes, but it was what their story eventually became in WC3.
WoW just kind of differentiated their architecture for cool points. Since it would be boring if every race had the same building design. Honestly I have a feeling they were probably meant to live in outland and be Kael's elves instead. With how much of their stuff is floating. It matches Outland environmental design more. They probably realized later that they couldn't really do that and tweaked the lore so that they could put the starting zone in the eastern kingdoms location lorewise. Since it's physical location is somewhere in the outland map. xD
It looks like there's a brawl fight in the town hall during upgrading.
The exact videos I wanted! Side by side comparison. Thank you!
Archers need their capes back to make them distinguishable again in overview
Yeah, it's mostly dark silver.
and the sorceress needs bigger tiddies :P. They looked bigger when they were squares
@@Porkey798 They looked more attractive when they were squares, lmao ;D
@@starsfalldown1234567 who told you I'm a man? xD
@@Porkey798 I'm not talking to you sweetie. Don't act so obsessed.
they are all beautiful, I particularly like what they did with the Swordsman High Elf. before, it could not be distinguished from the human captain.
They've really gone above and beyond with these models, especially with the campaign units, I'm actually getting pretty excited about reforged
@ThisIDIsTheLongestID r/commentsthatagedpoorly
It was so hilarious when all paladin together
Why aren't those tiers in the game? T.T
hilarious how ?
Y, like a gay parade.
It is a Paladin Pals forever reunion.
The Silverhand always looked like a family of twins.
How much I was hyped back then =(
9:44 it would be really cool if Arthas got paler, grayer and his eye bags became more prominent the mader he gets with every mission, and if you played the campaign it would be hard to notice the subtle changes each mission
Would be great but if the modeling team is too lazy to model most of the elves right, then I doubt they'd take the time to add extra phases.
They look like the stereotypical MMO rejects.
@@muffinman2546 A 2006 boy can dream can't he?
Well, don't he look paler when he wields Frostmourne? Maybe there are more nice surprises in store.
@@muffinman2546 its not about the modeling team, more like a technical artist AND design lead question
Okay, weird thing to say, but my favorite of this lot is the villager female and high elf female units - In terms of design and animation they look amazing. Fairly happy with the Blood Mage and Footman units as well. Actually all of the high elves/blood elves look pretty cool. Very WoW-ish in design. Not a fan of Jaina's top though - the "Daughter of the Sea" model looks way better IMO.
Also, you really notice when looking at them side-by-side, just how vast the difference is: before this video I was like, "Meh, it looks pretty ok", but seeing how much WC3 has aged, it's actually a rather drastic face-lift.
Side note: I'm already considering all the ways I can play around with the various character models in the world editor - some of them don't see nearly enough screen-time, considering the effort gone into their design.
Time to make defense of the ancients with these models
i've uploaded this to our Warcraft 3 Reforged North American Community facebook group. We appreciate the videos! The new models look amazing.
W3 was my first encounter with the Warcraft franchise. Had it shared to me on a LAN party we had in school. Great fun, got the game and all it's expansions later on. Amazing to see what they've done with it! Will for sure get a copy and play the AI a bit.
Nice to know they're making distinct models for the heroes of each hero class instead of just having one generic model for the whole class but with different paint jobs.
Is it just me, or do the wings on most of the flying units look too short?
the water elementals look like they're just playfully splashing water at each other in a jacuzzi
I don't know man.. There is something about it that makes it feel weird, the graphics of Warcraft 3 were bad but it was VERY original, that's what made us all fall in love with this game and WoW.
when this town hall, keep and castle finished?
Now I will never be able to unsee that phenixs attack comes from below it. Damn
some of the new model too dark, they should make it more bright. Like the old phoenix definitely better than the new one.
FX are probably just not complete for that one. There are a lot of models missing their FX.
Wow, those blood elf models look fantastic. I wish the ones in WoW looked like that.
i kinda liked the spellcasters casting tiny color birds... but i understand the change =D
Big true
this Halahk the Lifebringer looks like an acolyte or something
Bro, i like the changed what they made for Arthas when he pick Frostmourne look 9:35 and then 9:48
You think Admiral Proudmores Blunderbuss or pistol whatever will have an attack/spell animation? That would be cool if it did
Looking at this, side to side, I'm actually really conflicted. on one end of the spectrum, i really like the upgrade to the graphics. on the other, i prefer the flashiness of alot of the old effects. (not all of them mind you, some of those effects should have been toned down.) the old edition has a charm to it that i will always love as well. personal preference and all that.
9:50 Arthas with Frostmourne really was changed. While in original he looks like a Paladin, in Reforged he now looks like, when his soul was absorbed by Frostmourne.
3:10 is it just me or does the fireball cast look way smoother on the old model? There it is coming out straight of the staff on the new one it looks like it is coming out of his shoulder or chest. Same with Jainas animations at 11:27 (i know it is unfinished but i hope it is not just an oversight)
It's true.
Old one is more polished.
why did they nerf Sorceress...
they didn't they still spam slow on everything in sight
The old Phoenix looks better wtf
Ye
GYeah everything’s over designed and bland
10:18
Yo wtf this man's got the ashbringer what's going on new lore blizz hello?????
Same dafuq :(
They dc, this whole remaster is crap.
Holy crap, Sylvie looks awesome!
I don't see why people dislike the models so much, both these and the orc/horde models are great
phoenix in reforged is so... dull
also elven advanced towers are indistinguishable from one another.
but the paladins received an upgrade
Old paladins were like *Uther and the Uthers*
Oh dear Light that Captain is beautiful, sweet baby Thrall *Man swoon* 8:36
The Captain unit is so fcking badass
3:30 shows the lack of love that got into reforged. If you look at the classic version of water elemental, you can see its body expanding as it winds up, then reduces as the attack actually happens. Which makes sense since it attacks by removing water from its body. The new models looks really dope but the warcraft soul just isn't there.
even the building animation. The new one just has the building slowly exist from transparency, the old you can see pillars rising and shit.
Never understood why Belf Lieutenant have ranged attack like the Spell Breakers
wow huge improvement cool
ty for the vids
Why does it feel like the normal blood elven units like Bloodmage/Sorceress are... weird.
And the campaign exclusive units like the citizens look top notch, the swordsmen look awesome too.
They were made later in development. They got tweaked a bit in Frozen Throne as well.
2 Gar Doomforge and 2 Lorn Bloodseeker are both in one screen.
Those paladins were the silverhand before arthas killed them all? the Silverhand of today (current WoW) the highlord reformed it correct?
Idk how to feel in the less glowy and particle heavy reforge
It does look a lot duller than regular Wc3.
And the elves look like Skyrim Nazi high elves.
@@muffinman2546 Preordered
Priests just look like a main character now, custom made heroes with priest models are going to look as if they were originally heroes. Can't wait for access to the world editor!
Ahhh finally big shoulder pads, that is what we all waited for. I'm just a little disappointed they aren't as huge as we all expected but it's okay.
cant wait the live all my day on the editor map
Antonidas is actually wielding [Archus, Greatstaff of Antonidas]. That's actually so f. cool.
I am sure it is the nostalgia talking, but I still like the way the old models look.
I am more excited about the fact that a lot more people will start playing and the online scene will grow.
the high elf buildings look AMAZING!!
The only problem I got with all this is the Phoenix but mainly auto-attack.
I LOVED the old one :'(
I love the way paladin separate their model making them unique, but all these guys need a shield cause ones without shield has a very weird animation...and the appearance as well
9/10
It is kinda cute that new Aviary now have a runway for take-off.
Admiral proudmoore's fun looks like a horn used for old bikes or something lol
that pack "horse" is clearly a mule, its ears are too long to be a horse
and antonidas rides a llama in wc3
I really like that Antonida's staff has the same model as the one in World of Warcraft that drops from the Lich King.
I'm confused. Why do hydromancers have flames on their staffs
Sooo why do the Blood Elf models already have Fel eyes? Thought they didn't start absorbing magic from other creatures until
B.C... WC3 pre-dates that so their eye's should be silver still no?
The old water elemental and phoenix looks better than the new one xD
Are you fucking serious ??
@@pogchamp2897 Yes. He is. Look carefully. Model itself looks better on new one but effects are almost non-existend!
I hope this models are still in work.
Glad to see Sorceress still bangable
I'm not sure how to feel about the new high elf farms looking like modern blood elf buildings. My impression was that high elves before leaving the Alliance were somewhat more holistic than blood elves. But oh well, it's still a really good texture.
High Elves and Blood Elves are the same, they simply changed name and adopted the colour red as a tribute to the blood spilled by the victims of genocide in Quel'Thalas.
@@Tiucaner I know they're genetically the same race but they aren't culturally the same, they changed culturally as a result of the 3rd war. The farms shown here are from the campaign missions where the Scourge invade Quel'Thalas, so BEFORE the high elves became the blood elves. That's why it looks contradictory to me, it's a retroactive cultural change to their architecture, or at the least looks like it. It's not bad looking just weird.
@@oinkleberry Culturally they are the same as well because they are the same people. These changes better reflect the changes between Night Elves and Blood Elves than in WC3 Classic. Every building looked the same and just had different textures to differentiate the two people.
@@Tiucaner They really really aren't the same culture, one has a drastically different outlook on life because they suffered their civilization being leveled by the Scourge and the Alliance abandoning them. What you're saying is like saying America is the same as it was before the atomic bomb was invented. The high elves were more holistic and willing to mingle with nature in a pacifist manner, but then the blood elves became much more arcane-dependent because of the Sunwell being destroyed and thereby they developed withdrawl symptoms from the magic drain and had to widespread delve into arcane arts as an entire culture, not just a caste of elves that wanted to study magic. This is the very logical explanation behind their architecture originally looking a *little* bit like night elf architecture, but only when it came to villages and forest lodges. It was like a cross between night elf & human in style. In WoW literally right now high elf lodges like that still exist. Their architecture changed because THEY changed. So retroactively changing their _farms_ to look like modern blood elf buildings is really weird.
@@oinkleberry Only a few years passed between the Scourge genocide and modern WoW, not enough for a cultural renaissance to happen and if you take a look at WoW, you can see a good portion of Silvermoon is in ruins, which means they never rebuilt fully, so the architecture is suppose to be the same as shown in this video. High/Blood Elves were originally the Highborne from the upper classes of Kaldorei, that abused and almost worshipped arcane magic. This never changed, if anything it only exacerbated their dependency on it. This didn't change their architectural style besides adopting the colour red after the genocide.
finally the human child looks like a human child not some martian alien trying to disguise as human lol.
Call me nostalgic, but some of the old ones still have a feeling of badass on them.
I don't want to be a killjoy but why does Dagren have the Ashbringer? Everything else astonishes me, teh fact taht i will have so many models to work with for my maps makes me overjoyed!
Just a look a like blade, it's missing a few things to be the ashbringer
Oh heck, those remodeled villagers will be a feast for those massacre campaigns and maps!
I'm noticing that some attack animations have been simplified. The knight's horse rears up in some attack animations in the original, but this doesn't appear in the remake, which I think is a bit of a shame. Similarly, the old attack anims of priest and sorceress summoned bird figures, but not anymore. I guess the new ones are more updated and accurate, but the old ones looked really cool.
The variety of (campaign-only) paladins is great though. And is promising for future modding, I hope.
I'm a bit disappointed that the Blood Mage cloak no longer reaches around the entire body, but instead stays behind the back. It makes it look less sinister.
>he Blood Mage cloak no longer reaches around the entire body
They made it a Kael-exclusive.
Archers and swordsmen from high elves are amazing!
Makes me want to use the map editor to build Suramar and Silvermoon using those models!
Aww man hope they add the spinning glaive animaition as they prepared to attack back to the spell breakers in reforged, and the make the elf units less stiff (specifically archers)
What's the name of that last song that starts playing at 12:50?
The Orcish Hordes
Echoes of the past - Jason Hayes
reforged wilkl be so nice for custom maps with all these distinct character models of random heroes and creeps
I really hope they keep the authentic music.
Phoenixes are actually a step down
Most particle effects are more boring
Some attack animations are far less individual
Agreed
Some of this stuff isn't finished yet if you couldn't tell.
They are doing models first & special unit effects later.
There's always that one guy.
@@xTheWolfman1991 Well he's correct
NGL, it's neat that even the short-term heroes/opponents you face in the campaign get unique models so that not everyone looks like a clone of the generic multiplayer paladin.
Is there no new models for Lady Arintol, Menag, Blackthorn & Feranor Steeltoe
Why do the high elves have green eyes, makes no sense. During most of the campaign time they should still be blue shouldnt they? Later in the campaign they fall from their status to cursed blood elves
Agreed
Their eyes turned green after they started using other sources of power once the sunwell went into hiding, and before illidan visited them.
@@kabrozkabroz I still prefer them having blue eyes in reign of chaos, like they used to before Arthas invasion
@@Immagonko let's wait and see, they'll probably have blue eyes for their initial appearance and for the human faction units
I think they are not done yet, if you look at the original elvish units you can see that they have a green color eyes and blue particles in front, and since particles aren't done yet i think that is the reason why, or hope at least :)
I love this.
Just one nitpick.
The peasant in the updated version is swinging vertically with an ax to chop wood from trees, and swinging horizontally with an axe to build lmao
If you're all in the beta, this sounds like a mistake / oversight so please report that stuff
The Peasant building animation in Reforged does not make sense at all.
In the original he's making a hammering motion, which equals building something, hammering nails ect.
In Reforge, he makes a hacking motion, which equals destroying or cutting down something.... 4:02
Here it looks like he's trying to destroy the barracks in Reforge... 4:53
Why has Dagren the Orcslayer the Ashbringer? lol
