Thanks man! It took me years to find out how to make bleach... don’t use copper for that lol. It was always the super simple things that were well guarded secrets. You just saved me ~$50 on my dad’s birthday present!
Thanks for the video, I tried using the alligator clips that come w/ the harbor freight panel, but then the LED light goes off the panel and I don't think it's working. I'll try the coupler method next.
I suspect you only need a single copper pipe for the anode, and the cathode can be any conductive metal. Stainless is good since it is pretty easy to clean off.
Good idea. I do polarity reverse everyday. Commercial ionizer do polarity reverse every 5 mins automatic. I think I will apply your method. Less hassle
This is great! Based on your model I made my own but I have a question: Store Ionizers use a Silver rod too.... is it really necessary? or just the copper rods. Also, does the separation of the rods matter? and does the voltage of the charge matter? Thank you!!
@davehimlin2374I've seen videos where people say that's all they do and been doing it for years with good results, I've been doing it for 3 and my pool uses about half the chlorine it used before putting the Cooper in the return basket.
So if my solar panel stops working ( mine seems to have stopped working & I made it just like yours in the video) will it work again "if" I reconstruct another set up with the pipes further apart OR did I actually fry the solar panel?

Very nice! what is the lowest voltage needed (I have a solar panel of 7.2v)? Thanks!

Does it need chlorine to function or will it work in a pond?
Hell yes! Thanks brother. You saved me a lot of moneh here
Does the pool have to be grounded? I want to do something like this for a plastic tub so it wouldn’t be grounded

I didn't need any silver. The separation does matter depending on the voltage / Amperage the lower the closer you should be.
brilliant!!!!!!simple and smart-thank you !!!
Umm but what about the steel ya need in combination for ionizing to actually take place?
Can I use a car battery instead of the solar panel
Genius ❤
looks great! how does it is working?i want to build one of it for my pool
Works great all summer had to replace the pipes only twice once the lost their ability to connect any more
Does it work how long does it take to work
What's the volt and wattage of solar panel
12v and I believe it is a 15watt panel not sure
Or you can throw a couple of copper elbows in your return basket.

Wait isn't it more expensive because of the copper pipes and copper
it will also help break apart salt from skin and such into sodium and chlorine molecules
salt from skin?
@@tommyjohnson7280 sweat, im guessing
When i put the copper in water the solar panel shuts off what am i doing wrong
I have the same results have you found a way to overcome this issue
Probebley they touch each other.
Sorry I just seen this...You most likely were causing a short by the 2 rods touching or being 2 close!

@@PremierPaintAndSipmy indicator light on the panel went off when I put into water as well. It is still bubbling and working though!
