(Drums) Parallel Processing "Drum Dirt" Bus | One Track Or Entire Kit
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 січ 2019
- Puremix Mentor Andrew explains the "Drum Dirt Bus" contained in his template that he uses on every mix he does. Parallel processing is a way to make drums stand out on one track or the whole kit. Parallel compression is a way of compressing drums to make them stand out more. This how to mix drums video will show you it all.
After explaining what it is, he uses the drums dirt bus to add weight and excitement to the mix by automating it during particular sections of the song.

Thank you Andrew. Have learned a lot from you. You truly know your stuff. My favorite mixer by far. A great instructor also. Cheers!
Theres a plugin from softube called Tube delay. Its amazing to add dirt to any sound and is not phasy as Sans amp. And I think its free
Ha I was waiting to hear the crunch distortion raw completely on its own pre eq, then post, then blended. Shame, oh well I get the idea, sort of
I think Schep’s advice (I have about 10 compressors, exciters and distortions as auxes) has revolutionized my mixes more than any other technique. Sounds great on an orchestral film mix and on a modern pop song. Unbelievable! I’m getting pro sounding mixes across multiple genres! Cool!
A little dirt goes a long way if needed. I also make a artificial room send with a nice eq on it for synthetic drums and send in parts to taste and tuck it low in the mix that gives the drums more air so they don’t sound so choppy and sound like a drummer playing them on a kit. Works good for Lofi hip hop. I
Love Andrews over all philosophy.. I am actually approaching my drum Parallels processing method different, after listening to a lecture he gave at the "Redbull" academy. Humble guy , great teacher.. He should create his own program.
I would level match the final result in a group bus to see if the loudness is tricking my ears.
Eventually all instruments will have distortion. Oh its already like that ...
dude, so cool. I've started doing this for some time now, for the abscense of a good room for a room miking of all the kit... ended up doing almost the excact same. Thought i was so original lol. the whole kit with a lot a mids (my cymbals are already too bright) and saturation and using the reference for this the mono (althought i dont leave it a mono track). huge backbone for a drumkit.
Soundtoy does a good job on distortion
Thank you.
Badass? Andrew is Badass!
I started doing this a couple years back and I haven't looked back.
It's that 'Cog in the machine' singer. Classic Fab Dupont.

Hello Andrew,
I was just doing this and I couldn’t believe how it sounded and it happened by accident
