Tony brotha super stoked I’ve found this channel!!!! Never would have guessed FWC questions answered by the MAN on you tube!!! I have recently bought a house on the St. John’s/Lake Poinsett/Cocoa area and am well versed in the do’s and the ya better nots of fishing but can’t wait to check out some of the hunting opportunity’s along these waterways with my wife. Florida makes its hunting rules and regulations extraordinarily difficult to under stand and looking up information on the fwc site is difficult. For people who were born and raised here Im sure it comes second nature but trying to figure things out when trying to do the right thing is frustrating. a simple list system of "what you need to hunt here" would be more comprehensive.

Yes they make it unreasonably hard. But after a few months of reading and checking everything I can on each different land I'm starting to understand a little bit better

Also thank you for the job that you guys do at FWC and your efforts to increase population. So far I have not been able to hunt anything Down here in A1 is very hard to harvest deers or hogs. @@p2braker Every WMA has its own unique set of rules. Just read what it says under the "access" section. WMA brochures can be viewed at MyFWC.com/WMAbrochures.
Hey Tony, I think it's awesome that you put out these videos for novice hunters or just hunters like me... just starting to hunt public land. I do have a question I can't seem to find the answer to...i noticed on some wma's that the quota count will say something like "200 no cost daily quota permits" . Does that mean 200 people per day can hunt that area or once the 200th person shows up, no more permits will be issued for that season? Its been on my mind but I can't seem to run into fwc when I want to an when y'all pull up on me I ask a million other questions instead of that one lol hope I see you out there buddy, could probably puck your brain for hours... until then, be safe my friend and thank you for your service.

I have three questions sir
1) what is the right caliber pistol or hand gun for hunting deers with ( certified deer handgun). 2) is it allowed to hunt with silencer or is it allowed to hunt with built in silencer rifles ? . 3)What or where can I hunt dows?
I would like to hunt on WMA, but don't know where to go or what areas to hunt. I have read the brochures, but they are still confusing. I have the military gold card, but does this cover the WMA permit fees?

Just to look up information on how and where to hunt you Literally have to click and read Multiple Links.
Basically if your "In the Know"(a good ol'boy) you're good to go, but if not it will take you Years just to figure out the quota hunts, how to apply, when to apply and good luck finding the MWA's GPS will take you 10 miles out of your way to an empty side of highway, a citrus farm or to the South Entrance of a privatly owned Ranch Gate.

It says hunters "shall" (meaning mostlikely to happen in the future) enter through designated areas, not "must" (meaning have to) so you should be able to walk in on foot to hunt hogs any time correct? Thanks

Just got stopped by fwc and was told I do need a hunting license to hunt hog on WMA. Tiger bay .
No you do not. But you do need a management area permit to hunt there though
Was also 300 yards into rima ridge quota only my fault and was fined. Officer said even if I were in tiger bay or other WMA I need license to hunt pig . going to get my safety course done but I want to hunt pigs in meantime season just started
You need a management area permit to hunt hogs there during small game season. A hunting license is not required
Planning to go out and hunt on some WMA's for the first time this season for small game. If small game season is open on a WMA, can I use a shotgun or rimfire regardless of any other season that is open? For example small game season might be Dec1-Mar30, but lets say muzzle loader season is dec 1 - dec 15. Can i still hunt small game with shotgun/rimfire Dec1-15 or do i need to wait until that season is over?
Yes, you may use a shotgun or rimfire rifle during small game season to hunt small game and hogs.
FWC says in the muzzleloading gun Seasson you can use bow and crossbow in Florida
Yes, when hunting private lands. On WMAs, you can ONLY use a muzzleloader.

SO hunting pigs on WMA. The new PCP air rifles are not considered firearms but a .45 pellet will drop a pig @ 3000 psi. If the WMA is open to recreation, hypothetically you could shoot pigs all year on some WMA's? No different than if you chased pigs with a knife or spear. Would this technically not fall under FWC's hunting? Beside any quota closed area's. I'm looking at Osceola as an example
Only WMAs you can hunt hogs year round on is Kissimmee chain of lakes area and Rolling Meadows Unit. All the rest, hogs can only be hunted during seasons - archery, muzzleloader, small game, general gun.
I hunt three lakes wma and they don't list hogs during small game so it may depend on the wma for hogs unless I am incorrect.

In the state of Florida if I have a concealed carry permit (personally I also prior leo experience) do I still need a hunters safety course before hunting with a license.
I don’t know about Florida but you do need to pass the hunters safety course before you buy a hunting license and it’s 100 questions. you can do it online in person or in a virtual meeting I did it online and it took me 6-7 hours it’s same for the in person meeting and it was $28.95 I believe of a person was born before 1971/72 they don’t need one but you can always call your local game wardens office or email them your questions

tony could you explain why you can only use muzzleloader during muzzleload season and archery equipment is prohibited ? i like hunting that season but i would rather take the deer with my bow.
Yes, it has to do with quota permits and opportunity. Muzzleloader hunters aren't allowed to hunt the archery season and therefore can't apply for and take up archery quota hunts. The same goes for the muzzleloading gun season - Archery hunters aren't allowed to hunt during muzzleloader season on WMAs because muzzleloader hunters don't want archery hunters applying for and taking up "their" archery quotas.
Hi Tony. I am on my way to Georgia to a private land own by the people I am coming with. They said that every year the wild life officers get into their property to check their stuff, game and anything they want. I just got told that the officers said that they have the legal right to get in someones property while hunting season. Is it true or they need authorization from the owner or a judge's order. thank you. BTW, i onow it's Georgia what I am asking for but it should still work the same way. Thanks..

No WMA has year-round rabbit hunting. Public land that is not an established WMA has year-round rabbit hunting.

You should look at the brochure but yeah on the majority of wmas you can use a Centerfire rifle as long as it's magazine cannot hold more than five rounds
I got one on muzzleloaders. If im using a single shot 12 ga as a muzzleloader with a 209 adapter is that legal during muzzleloader season?
If it is loaded from the breech, it is not legal during muzzleloader season.
@@HuntFloridaTV the primer would be loaded into the breech, the powder and shot from the front of the barrel.

Hi im from florida and i have a sugestion i was triying to get in to magnament area hunting but it was so many rules so manydiferent stuff uff is really hard to beginers like me i dont eaven hont last year i buy couple rifles and not use it just go to a range and shoot there please if you can make a guide and explain how to get in to magnament ares hunt you are going to help lot people is anoying when you go to the web site and try to find out how to get in to the magnament area hunting ......thanks for your time

What are the rules regarding rabbit hunting? Are they considered in the same category as raccoons or are they small game?
Raccoons are furbearers. Rabbits are "game" mammals and considered small game. You may hunt them on PRIVATE property year round
I'm not very familiar with hunting or guns... but I am trying to get into it... I was curious if you shoot a hog on your property but it runs off your property. Is that a felony?
If you shot the hog on your property and it runs into the neighboring property it is not a felony. It is only a felony when your bullet or arrow crosses into another property with out permission. If the hog runs into your neighbors property you will need to get permission to retrieve it other wise you would be trespassing.

Same rules apply, but it is 15 and under that don't need a license. Once you are 16, you DO need a license to hunt and fish in Florida.

It is open year round on PRIVATE lands, where you can use any gun that is legal to possess. On WMAs, hogs can only be hunted during specific seasons using only bows during archery, muzzleloaders during muzzleloading gun season, etc.

@@briang6088 Can only use weapon for that season and have to follow every other rule and regulation. Only exceptions are you are allowed to feed on private lands, not required to wear hunter orange, and there are antlerless deer weekends.
Incorrect to my knowledge if you have a modern shotgun capable of holding more then 5 shells and hunting deer it has to be plugged to prevent more then 5. At least that’s what I know.

Look for a WMA close by that allows hogs to be taken during its small-game season. You only need a $26.50 management area permit to do that. No hunting license or quota permit is needed. But you can NOT use a centerfire rifle during that season. I suggest using a shotgun or a 22 magnum.

I'm not sure what you are asking. In Florida, the definition of an antique forearm is different from the definition of a muzzleloader that is legal to use during muzzleloading gun season.

Yes, the private lands alligator management program has less restrictive rules on allowable methods of take.

On private land, it's always open season. On WMAs, you can only take them during that WMA's hunting seasons (archery, muzzleloader, general gun, small game).

Regulations Unique to Muzzleloading Gun Season -
1. Hunting with dogs is prohibited.
2. Archery equipment may be used in the Bruce Bowman archery still hunt area, provided all regulations for the muzzleloading gun season shall apply, except that an archery permit is required instead of a muzzleloading gun permit.
3. Hunting with archery equipment or guns, other than muzzleloading guns, is prohibited, except that centerfire shotguns are allowed (except in the Bruce Bowman archery still hunt area) for hunting migratory birds.
4. During muzzleloading gun season, hunters may operate vehicles throughout the area beginning 8 a.m. 1 day before the season opens until 6 p.m. the day after the season closes.

Do you need a quota for hogs ?
Quotas are placed on "seasons" (archery, muzzleloader, general gun, etc.). During most WMA's hunting season (except spring turkey), wild hogs are legal to take. But you may need a quota to hunt (no matter what species) during a particular season. But 95% of WMAs do not require a quota to hunt their small-game seasons, where on most, you can take hogs with shotguns or rimfire (.22) rifles.

Yes, it is legal AS LONG as the magazine cannot hold more than 5 rounds.

Yes as stated in the video you can get your hunting license without taking the hunter safety course it would just have to be a Mentor Youth license and you would only be able to go hunting while supervised by someone 21 years old or older and has a valid hunting license. So since you said your brother has his hunting license if he's over 21 you should be able to get a Mentor Youth hunting license and go hunting with him.
Also I just read if you plan on hunting wild hogs no hunting license is required.

Well i personally emailed you.about the concerns many hunters have about the wrong time burning in one of the sections of the three lakes wma.(canoe creek side) and prairie lakes.during nesting and hatching for turkeys .happen now more than ever.disaster for this flocks.i hunted this area for more than 18 years and never see such a thing.well.YOU NEVER RESPOND.
