I live in Florida, and have hunted here all my life. You are wrong about rattling and using the grunt call. They do work. There is also rut here in the panhandle, which starts about the end of January into February. The average buck??? Yep you are about right...115, 120. You need to check your resources.

He is incorrect about the "no true rut in florida" There is a "true rut", its regional. Each region has a different time for the rut. He's implying that the deer essentially breed all the time.....def not the case.
