I really liked this Shirley lady!! I was sorry to see that she passed away at only 79 years old, back in 2010. RIP Shirley Dial Kilgore. Loved that sweet southern accent!
I really liked her too! I also liked how she chose a different celeb for the head-to-head match each time.

Clare Blaine Farnsworth, born 1940. Clare was not unusual as a men's name once upon a time. I knew a Clarence who went by Clare, and he was about the same age. But the actual name probably explains why he went by CB.
The "asp" portion was my fave of all time!

Golden Goose! I think Shirley was referring to Jason and the Argonauts and the Golden Fleece. I though of holding her mummy as collateral.
My answer was the same one Charles gave. I thought it was fairly obvious and was surprised by Shirley's response.

I thought these were two of the best contestants ever - Shirley and CB - who appeared at the same time. I mean there have been others but they were on individually. To have two really neat people, funny, humble, all around nice folks - well anyway that’s sappy sounding I know - but I’ve enjoyed them so much I made them my favorites and I watch them when I’m down. (Only wish Kay Stevens wasn’t in it - she was just obnoxious.)

I'll bet if Richard was chosen for the head to head match he woulda answered golden gloves, while I thought that Charles being an entertainer would answer golden globes. Charles had me rolling with his answer of virgin asp, something he hasn't had in decades

It's all staged (apart from the quiz part, obviously!) I mean, Charles and Brett seem to dislike one another on the show, but, they were both very fond of each other. (apparently.)

Awe...if you look closer ,it's Richard that has his chair over on Kaye's side ...if you line them up with their Mike's,he's way over . Not that may wasn't overly obnoxious.
It seems like Richard liked her leaning on him, otherwise he'd turn and sit straight up. I would if I didn't want someone leaning on me.
Trish and kay were the only ones that knew what it took to make the watch work, they need movement to work...hence fanny and head,as in brain🙄🙂
I never hear the word asp used anymore, but it must have been common in 1974, since they all said it.
It became the go to answer for many many questions..like boobs, fannie or making love.
