But the Tony Award thing was not a mistake. They do this kind of thing all the time to maintain some bizarre illusion that each episode is being filmed on the day it airs. Look at the episodes from Christmas and New Years, where everyone talks about having seen parades and bowl games that haven't occurred yet. Five episodes filmed in a single day, yet Gene and the panelists are all in different clothes for each episode.
On this date in 2000, SpongeBob SquarePants TV Series episode Hooky/Mermaidman and Barnacleboy II with Charles Nelson Reilly as The Dirty Bubble (voice) aired.
Gene: Did everyone watch Charles on the Tony Awards last night? Most panelists: Oh, yes, he was great! Richard: Are you people mad? It hasn't even aired yet. We film two weeks in advance, it isn't Monday, and it is literally half an hour since we filmed the last episode, with just time enough to go to the bathroom and change clothes. Is this set somewhere in the Twilight Zone? Poor Richard. I bet they gave him hell backstage later for daring to puncture the illusion.
that was a big surprise that he would actually revele that dirty little secret of the show LOL. I bet the producers cut off serving alcohol for a while during the brakes, however good on him for letting everyone know.👈✔️
Back then, there were plenty of things you couldn't joke about. You couldn't tell dirty jokes. The civil rights era of the 50s and 60s were not that far in the past, and people were very careful about "race" jokes. It's not that the times were less sensitive, they were just sensitive about different things. Also, people were much more careful about what they said about authority figures.
ROFL! Another fine episode! :0) ROFL! Love ya Gene! :0) ROFL! Love ya Charles! ;0) Camera in shot.. ;0) green beans.. Yes you friendly daytime audience.. ;0) wood.. Weeds.. Nuts.. Kiss.. You two were talking about your needlepoint and now everyone kissing.. It rubs a guy like me wrong way.. ;0) No response to Gene’s answer.. ;0) crane.. Mic trouble? Skin teeth.. If we go slow this could be a pilot.. ;0) Love the acting, the voices and the silliness.. ;0) ducking..
Euell Gibbons, whom I finally looked up after hearing so many questions about him, died in 1975 at the age of 64. I don't think it had anything to do with his unconventional health freak diet (he had a ruptured aortic aneurysm). Until I did a Google search, I had assumed they were talking about an obese actor of the days of yore who would eat anything _but_ health food based on their answers.
Does anyone remember 'Profile Bread'? First, it is a dumb name. Secondly, it looks like a cereal box would be tastier (though, really, how can I judge a bread by its wrapper?).
OH MY LAND!!!! I've watched this show probably 3 times and I ALWAYS thought Ule Gibbins was someone they made up, so THIS TIME, I thought I'd look him up. I never KNEW he was a real person!
I've seen it. He was actually addressing the panel saying, "Doesn't she have the prettiest nipples....?" I think it was put in a 'Funniest Game Show answers' clip.
In Margate, FL, there is a park dedicated to/named after Kaye Stevens. It is locate at 5825 Royal Palm Blvd, Margate, FL. At its entrance you will be greeted by a bronze statue of Kaye. It will be the only time you will ever see her without hearing that annoying laugh.
she makes the other celebrities look dumb so that no one would notice that she's is the dumb one LOL, and it's not funny, she's very hostile towards the other celebrities like if she was jealous of some of them specially the female ones. the show could have been more harmonic and less draggy without her. I'm surprised the producers never told her to stop it, she probably got lots of complains.
He (Richard Dawson) He Sure As "Hell!" Had A Nice "BOD!" Especially! His "RUMP!!" "WHOA!!" My "EYES!" 👀 Nearly "POPPED OUT!!". LOL!!! ❤ RIP. Mr. Dawson. 💋 Della R. ❤
Just saw this on GSN today. lol. Very funny. Question I have is, did such a question ever happen again like at 18:40 with Gene reading a part and Richard reading another?
Sara McPike That has happened a few times on this playlist (74 ) so I know he does this year anyways multiple times I believe in 73 as well closer to end if year
I don't think it was actually said straight out, but there were inferences as such. I remember at least one occasion where Gene took a sip of it and acted as though it was very strong alcohol.
Leave him alone, that joke was old the second time you did in the first episode.. And actually this is being shot about a week ahead of schedule since this will be on next week..
She is! And I think she gave the best possible answer to the head-to-head match "Silk ___________" -- this time it was the contestant who came up with an unlikely response.
Wow, the ad for Tiger’s Milk protein bars. They were ahead of their time.
Charles's intro always cracks me up. i love his drawings 😂😂
He was awesome!
The jokes and gags of Match Game still hold up today. Legendary show.
Patton Diorama - 44 years later
The best
Rosey Grier is still living-88 years old.
ROFL The Richard Dawson question and Richard Dawson getting Gene again for the Tony's award mistake for episode 191! I love this episode.. ;0)

"bizarre illusion", yes, good description; that's how it feels.
I love it when Charles's alter ego Chuck comes out!
He's a wonderful performer and a funny man. I loved how he could be so openly gay (1970s style).
@@kevansf I loved him.
This show certainly attracted some beautiful contestants.
Thank you for leaving the in-between stuff in.
This is one of the funniest shows yet, so good I watched it twice.

And deservedly so
How is this not one of the best-known episodes? Hilarious!
especially the question of "Richard Dawson 'blanked' Gene Rayburn"!
I’m still laughing about that question. The whole thing was hysterical
I like it
Joni Butts I agree...... even with Kaye Stevens......ugh! Can't stand her.....
@@edwardlozano8807 Althou GSN gives it away with the commercial for Match Game. But yea this is SOO funny..
that guy keeps choosing Brett, man what a mess👈✔️
They were all really having a good time that day, fun episode.
Back then. You could joke about stuff that would get you fired ,sent hate mail etc. Today

That roar Richard let out at the end is LIFE!!!🤣🤣🤣☠☠
I didn't hear it.
22:09
Panelists:
1. Rosey Grier
2. Brett Somers
3. Charles Nelson Reilly
4. Loretta Swit
5. Richard Dawson
6. Kaye Stevens
5:25 "Richard Dawson BLANKed Gene Rayburn?" I have to wonder if this was an audience test if Dawson would have a following for his own show.
I can’t stop laughing,my sides hurt❤️🇨🇦
18:35 I know some you or most don't like Kaye Stevens but I thought she was funny with her giggling!
I do too.
Fake laugh designed to get attention

hilarious episode - it's a good one
How about leaves growing out of his ears? I'm not a fan of the king kong questions in general but that particular one I couldn't think of anything
I'm surprised noone said Dawson REPLACED Rayburn
I’d kiss Jack, too. He’s kinda sweet and handsome. And seems like a loyal, sweet guy. ❤️🏳️🌈❤️
I'd call him "smarmy".
He gets my vote for Match Games “Dullest Contestant”

Hmm. Maybe Richard isn't that good of a kisser since Jack didn't even call on him for a super match suggestion!?
Richard always wears white pants.
Ducking! Best answer I ever heard!

I've seen the clip of Gene saying "nipples" many times, but never the episode in which it happened. Was it cut from the broadcast version?
It was cut unfortunately. Episode 229. It is coming up very soon for us!
Thank you for the quick reply!

I would have said silk stockings also. That guy wasn't very bright.
silk sheets is actually not that bad, since sheets are regularly made out cotton and other materials, silk sheets are supposed to be expensive.
But the previous super match , he said “Pick Pocket” and Brett said “ Patch Pocket” ! One of her worst answers ever
I guess I should not be amazed that Bret thought wheel barrow was a better than crane. It's what I thought of and considered the definitive answer.

4:00....Grier graduated from Penn State University (before the Paterno days)...
Paterno was railroaded
Good heavens. Richard had a good body! 😛
Richard Dawson should have paid royalties to Paul Lynde every time he used his voice. (Also Groucho, but especially Paul.)
