This video actually helped me understand my lift kit a bit more. Thank you! My rear leaf springs sit directly on axle, no Blocks and is still very high up. But I cannot tell what size lift I have.
I'd say the old school gets the job done. Raises the CG so the truck is more likely to roll over, puts your chassis even with a normal car's windshield for enhanced crashworthiness, and allows plenty of clearance for those oversize wheels & tires that will increase stopping distance with your stock brakes, so you can tailgate with confidence. But for the extra $20K, you get all that and more with the high-end system.
Woah! That Kelderman lift is one extreme system! Probably the most detailed lift ive ever seen. The green monster lift system is fine with me. Great vid!!
I can keep high toe capacity and pull a gooseneck comfortably even with my 10” lift with the air lift. Gooseneck only slightly modified. Regular lift droops too much and loses ALOT of payload capacity and doesn’t have near the ride quality
THE AXLE is a bit higher off the ground. But you really need portal axles to be able to keep your tires on the bottom of the mud pit. with a straight axle you end up pushing a wall of mud down below, while up on top you set way higher than the water.
Yea about as stupid as a street race car sitting low to the ground for superior center of gravity and aerodynamics, or as stupid as wearing work boots to a construction site - point being, there is usually a reason why things are the way they are - whether people think it "looks" stupid or not.
Because a dealer willing to look past the mods that have been done to that truck is hard to find, especially the exhaust mods. It had a small coolant leak and the boy it belongs to can never get off work and drive it 70 miles to a mod friendly dealer. So one of the guys towed it over for him.
Dig your videos Bill. I don't need my truck to ride like a big Caddy though. It's a truck. It's OK if it rides like a truck. My 04 has leafs and I like it. Simple, and it works. Will be going with a BDS 8" lift soon, and 36" Mickeys on 16" old school rims. Simple, and if properly done, it works just fine. That's why there are many many thousands of them running around and off roading all the time with no problems...
Nowadays people lift their trucks and make them look like lifted low rider pimp mobiles, with their 25 inch wheels on 37 inch tires. I miss lifted trucks of the 1980's and 1990's that looked like mini Monster Trucks, 16 inch steel wheels on 44+inch tires.
Tony Cross Things are going to wear out faster regardless of how you lift your truck, old school or new, bigger Tires and Wheels = More unsprung weight which translates to shortened life span of basically every moving part on the vehicle.
The chains are to really act as an emergency stop so if it went over a jump and got air the rear axle wouldn't drop down too far and rip or damage the air suspension
ArcticAstrophysics is correct. The chains are there for limiting the axle drop out. It's a little stupid, seeing as a axle strap is designed to do this much more effectively. Chain that small will not take a HUGE stock load to it very well. Second that "NEWER" lift is junk, for starters there was no need to drop the sway bars at all. There now down below the rear Axle. all they need to do was use a long sway bar link.
+bosshoss69lee And Chevies and Dodges are different? haha Around where I'm at it's not even one brand. Any diesel you see on the street has a bro stack and 35 inch mud tires on 30 inch chrome rims. It's fucking disgusting.
Having that long of blocks under the leaf springs put a lot of stress on those U-bolts. People don't realize when they lift trucks like that they shouldn't be pulling near the trucks capacity. Unfortunately it's happened, and it's not pretty when the rear U-joints go, the tires gets shoved into the bed of the truck among ripped brake lines and broken drive shaft. That being said, if your going to lift it, do it right and do a full or at least aftermarket springs that have a deeper pitch.
I’ll just stick with the bigger coil over springs, bigger shocks, larger control arms, and a bigger steering stabilizer. Does the job right. No issues at all and doesn’t cost a crap ton of money. While that Kelderman is sweet, that’s a rich man’s truck and lift.
12,100 dollars with shipping and handle at 4wheeldrive..that's with the accu air controller and dual shocks front/rear for an 05-07 superduty i'm sure they're comparable in price for the different years. and what i'm guessing is 40 inch toyos are about 2400 for the set plus wheels probably 20s around the same, so its pretty close to 20k
how well does it trail wheel against, a modified older yota or nissan? nice truck and gadjets man, but now its even to high to load the bed with out a boom truck! ......Doe's it come with a lift kit for the trailer? can you roll it over, flipit back, and give it some more?
@rinehart77 That's not true a long travel kit on an IFS increases ground clearance. Also there are specially designed high clearance solid axles. But besides that, you are right:)
In your opinion what is the best lift for a 2012 f350 super duty srw. I am looking to buy one that still allows me to have a nice ride in the interstate at 80 but something i can tow without any rear sag. I have been looking at carli suspension so far.
may i recommend BDS if you haven't already purchased the kit yet, better quality, better warranty, better customer service. 4 link has separate upper and lower control arms (more flex, better control, more money etc.)
I noticed that the green monster has stacked blocks on the rear.. That is a bad idea and might want to consider going with a cast iron block. of the needed height.... Just a suggestion
what would be the most inexpensive way to lift a 99 f350 7.3l 4x4 at least 3 inch, unfortunately you cant use body lifts on these large diesel engines, what do you think
@bigmoosen You beat me to it. When I saw the links hanging WAY down and then the exposed airtanks I was thinking mall crawler/show truck. I would prefer coils but Between those two the leaf springs would be my choice.
@thefarmfred1 Ive actually gone offroad with someone that had the kelderman air ride it was a nice ride and performed well but it is good for 4x4 trails not so much for mud bogging which i prefer
well some people think/say air bags increase towing, but all they do is keep the truck level, towing is relevant to power and more importantly braking, like my 3500 ram can pull over 10 tons, but without trailer brakes it can't stop worth a damn, like that stupid toyota commercial that they tow the space shuttle, they don't tow it at all they got it rolling at like 2mph and that's it, no way to stop it it just looked cool
ok i see so i were to get the kelderman 10' lift am i able to still tow a heavy fifth wheel? or will that be to much weight when i have to drop it down to attach the 5th wheel?
+Justin Maestas No the only way that would work is if you lifted the 5Th wheel trailer to match the truck. Unless you don't mind grinding the ass end off of your trailer.
where are you located? I see that 08 parked around my town all the time and it is nice! no kidding that lift is expensive. But it and the truck in general is a solid setup
I like the old school lift better it faster cheaper and can install with the help of a buddy in one day and some pizza a beer but not to much beer or nutting will get done and done right
Id rather offroad with an old jeep jacked up only for the purpose of offroading....Instead of shredding my offroad tires everyday, and ruin a truck that I can make money with by towing peoples boats, hulling furniture in the bed... Try lifting a lawnmover in a lifted truck... Limits your productivity. But i guess everyone has different uses for their vehicles.
TheDude iv never understood this. Raise center of gravity making for dangerous handling conditions as well as decreasing fuel mileage and towing capacity it looks silly and if you drive it on the street it drives like shit eats expensive tires that are obnoxiously loud on the road oh and you have to pay money for this!?! 0_o maby its a lifestyle but I'd rather bag a truck to lower it but still have good ground clearancd and put some tasteful rims with low profile tires that will actualy improve the truck not make worse
Ryan Rohauer Once go with extremely low profile tires you could make it dangerous to drive. And I personally think lowering a truck is dumb but that's beautiful thing about opinions....it's yours and you don't have to give a fuck about what people think about your own damn opinion
That is ridiculous, the ground clearance under there is possibly worse than it was stock due to all of that extra hardware in the undercarriage. The only thing it achieved is making the trucks bumpers higher, which is the least important (functional) part of lifting your truck... I would take the Green Monsters setup any day, looks like it could take WAY more beating.
Yea so go ahead and hook a trailer to the air bagged up waste of a truck that is on the trailer. Then hook the same trailer to the dually and so what happens then.
Any lift, whether body or suspension leaves the axle in the exact same spot, exact same clearance. You do a lift so you can get taller tires....which does move the axle higher for greater clearance. Also, both of these lifts were suspension lifts, not body lifts. Body lifts are basically blocks between the body and frame, leaving the frame in the same spot.
Chad Greencorn another way to get the axle higher off the ground is to use planetary gear hubs the axle connects at the top of the hub and is gear driven down to the actual hub and bearing. the unimog uses this and works great
Nothing old vs new about this. Its mall crawler vs working truck. I have air on my SAS s10 blazer with Dana 60s and didn't spend what that kit costs including the SAS. Mine was built and used offroad as well as a daily driver.
I'll maybe pay 5k for a lift if that... i mean a 20k lift on a what now would be a 60 thousand truck looking at 80k for something thats looking for abuse/
No way 20 gs probly 10g at most my buddy got a 6 inch to 10 inch air ride for 8500 with wheels and tries my other friend has a 2010 tundra with 10inch lift all leef sprung no blocks. But now he has 2 inch blocks cause what size tires he has but no 20gs not even close
The low rider rims with the low profile tires looks stupid.Go with stock rims and normal size tires or maybe go max with 31 inch tires and use the truck as a truck.Your MPG and engine/trans will last longer and work better. My opinion.

Your scathing rebuke hath cut me to the bone, sir. I shall tread no more on your sacred sites.
onemoremisfit don't worry I got a laugh lifted trucks are a good laugh in themselves I just like diesels bruh 🖒
Yep.....makes sure the Prius owner that brake checks me for having a diesel truck simply gets run over without even scratching the paint.
We have installed several with good results.
Yep the earlier OBS trucks use the regular oil. But synthetic is an excellent upgrade. All of the trucks after 98 use the synthetic.
That 6.4 can make some huge power.
Woah! That Kelderman lift is one extreme system! Probably the most detailed lift ive ever seen. The green monster lift system is fine with me.
Great vid!!
those are no mud bogging trucks LOL those 2 trucks are 4 door mall cruisers.
Inferno Beast No they're not they're fucking show trucks
I'll take the simplicity of the green monster thank you very much.
I can keep high toe capacity and pull a gooseneck comfortably even with my 10” lift with the air lift. Gooseneck only slightly modified. Regular lift droops too much and loses ALOT of payload capacity and doesn’t have near the ride quality
Dont forget about the the ole death wobble.....
whats the point of lifting the body when you got a big ol axle with all this other shit about 6 inches off the ground?
+hector aguilar Lift the chassis/body of the truck to fit bigger tires, which DOES raise ground clearance under the axles!
mrgrimm just agree with me and say that..that is just silly
THE AXLE is a bit higher off the ground. But you really need portal axles to be able to keep your tires on the bottom of the mud pit. with a straight axle you end up pushing a wall of mud down below, while up on top you set way higher than the water.
still really stupid to me lol
Yea about as stupid as a street race car sitting low to the ground for superior center of gravity and aerodynamics, or as stupid as wearing work boots to a construction site - point being, there is usually a reason why things are the way they are - whether people think it "looks" stupid or not.

I suppose with no waste gate she can boost all the way to the moon. I hope the shaft is up to it.
that kelderman lift is SSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKKKKK

Lol wow
Must like paying for all them parts that wear out then haha
Tony Cross Things are going to wear out faster regardless of how you lift your truck, old school or new, bigger Tires and Wheels = More unsprung weight which translates to shortened life span of basically every moving part on the vehicle.
Yeah I usually just upgrade my suspension before my wheels and tires. To eash his own haha
Nathan McDonald for real. I'm wantin to pick up a old nissan hard body and put on a 3 inch lift, 15 or 16 inch rims, and 33's
He put me off when he says "chains holding it together and will set you back about $20k before installation"!
@9094design the compressors are only on when the the air in the tanks drop below a certain psi.
AMAZING TRUCK!!
here is a better question...why is that new 08 on the trailer and the old green monster rollin around?
Well done video!
20k for that.... it's nice I give it that but 20k is another truck
I agree. Theure nice but I ain't rich enough to drop 20k on a suspension kit for my 18 year old truck.
@@boomsaucexx1866 I have 30k into my 75 Chevy... Lol
oh fords and their mall crawling, always good for a laugh when you hear the cost, good looking dually btw
+bosshoss69lee And Chevies and Dodges are different? haha Around where I'm at it's not even one brand. Any diesel you see on the street has a bro stack and 35 inch mud tires on 30 inch chrome rims. It's fucking disgusting.
I'm laughing, because all that stupid shit under your truck gives it the ground clearance of a Ford Escort.

if u got the money. spend it.
hi what are your views on a reverse spring shackle kit for a 94 f350 dually 7.3 idi
2 fords... Finally someone who understands
Lifted dualies are the definition of sexy
Whats the cheapest most cost effective way of adding lift to your truck/suv?
Most bang for the buck.
Rough Country lifts.
Drake O Rpugh country is trash though
Body lift
In your diff video you said 90w gear oil, if your manual calls for synthetic would you still be safe and what brand gear oil do you use, thanks bill
Hello! I have a question. I am looking at getting a FabTech Lift Kit. What is the different between Radius Arms vs. 4 Link Systems? Please Help!
how well does it trail wheel against, a modified older yota or nissan? nice truck and gadjets man, but now its even to high to load the bed with out a boom truck! ......Doe's it come with a lift kit for the trailer? can you roll it over, flipit back, and give it some more?
What's your opinion on the beans 1.0 housing non waste gated housing 7.3 will it make it spool up quicker or raise boost pressure
My 1975 GMC 3/4 ton heavy dutys lift is 8 leaf springs...
the bent driveshaft protector bar thing on the new would get ripped off if it was ever takin where the old was designed to go
what about the reciprocating dingle arms? do they get effected
how do you feel about the use of blocks to lift the rear
@rinehart77 That's not true a long travel kit on an IFS increases ground clearance. Also there are specially designed high clearance solid axles. But besides that, you are right:)
I wouldnt have used blocks. just longer re-arched springs, or springs specifically made for it. But to each their own.
COMPLETE!
In your opinion what is the best lift for a 2012 f350 super duty srw. I am looking to buy one that still allows me to have a nice ride in the interstate at 80 but something i can tow without any rear sag. I have been looking at carli suspension so far.

you sound like Snoop Dogg I swear
what size tires and rims are on it dropped ?
nice
What your opinion on cheap block leveling kits for the 7.3 superduty
It's only 2 ways either body lift or suspension lift
0:15 that truck has the legendary 7.3. Id take that truck over the 08 any day, even though the 08-10 is the coolest looking fords made yet.
i like the air lift wish i had 10000 for it
Is it really 21in at max???? I don't think they make them like that. 0r I'm k wrong?
then you go off road and rip all that stuff out from underneath, especially the stuff hanging below the axels.. unreal
Its is always nicer and safer with a full kit like the kelderman insted of just longer springs and spacers.
But 20+ thousand. Lottery anybody.
I noticed that the green monster has stacked blocks on the rear.. That is a bad idea and might want to consider going with a cast iron block. of the needed height.... Just a suggestion
Id take the dually over the other any day.
the only people who put this kinda cash on fords are deep pocket people who have deep pockets and don't worry about budgets or pay checks.
that's fucken bad ass!
what would be the most inexpensive way to lift a 99 f350 7.3l 4x4 at least 3 inch, unfortunately you cant use body lifts on these large diesel engines, what do you think
What is the setup on the green monster?
Hopefully you did more than lift to go off road since a lift kit doesn't increase your ground clearance.
@bigmoosen
You beat me to it. When I saw the links hanging WAY down and then the exposed airtanks I was thinking mall crawler/show truck. I would prefer coils but Between those two the leaf springs would be my choice.
Do you ever work on the old idi diesels?
lifting any vehicle dies harm and it doesnt matter how much you pay for it.
Better than city slickers putting outrageously huge rims and tires on a car lowered to the ground with only 1 inch ground clearance.
whats the point of these kits (off-roading)?
a real old school lift is to lift the truck and just put in shocks everywhere
@thefarmfred1 Ive actually gone offroad with someone that had the kelderman air ride it was a nice ride and performed well but it is good for 4x4 trails not so much for mud bogging which i prefer

Save some money: steal the air ride equipment from a semi trailer.
put blocks between axle and leaf spring
the thing is you couldnt go mudding in the kelderman..
The dually looks good but some atrocious engineering in that lift kit.
i have a 4 inch lifted silverado and i have more ground clearance than the first funny truck !!
Id rather offroad with an old jeep jacked up only for the purpose of offroading....Instead of shredding my offroad tires everyday, and ruin a truck that I can make money with by towing peoples boats, hulling furniture in the bed... Ryan how does raising the center of gravity effect fuel economy?
More air pushing against more components
Ryan Rohauer Once go with extremely low profile tires you could make it dangerous to drive. And I personally think lowering a truck is dumb but that's beautiful thing about opinions....it's yours and you don't have to give a fuck about what people think about your own damn opinion
more videos of green monster please.
@KenMacMillan the air bag are mainly for when ur towing something....i cant stand when i see lifted truck sit heavy in the ass end looks pitful

20000 for a lift wheels and tires whats yurr problem I have a ten inch lift 40 inch tiers an 22inch wheels dat all coast me around 11000
rudy gay post a video I'd love to see it, I'm think about going 12 inch lift so I can clear like 44 inch boggers
rudy gay Also what kind of truck is it?
man i wish i had the cash for a good lift!
Yea so go ahead and hook a trailer to the air bagged up waste of a truck that is on the trailer. Then hook the same trailer to the dually and so what happens then.
+low96hb The air bagged one would handle it better. Ever notice what they use on tractor trailers for suspension?
Why put a lift on a 2wd?
whats the point in the 20000 dollor lift if its not even really lifting it other then just the body haha
+Chad Greencorn It also gives the truck a MUCH better approach/departure/break over angle, which is very helpful when off roading also
Chad Greencorn another way to get the axle higher off the ground is to use planetary gear hubs the axle connects at the top of the hub and is gear driven down to the actual hub and bearing. the unimog uses this and works great
yeehaw I'd like to take my old lady out fer a beer in a truck like that
Pretty, and pretty useless. lol
thats a street truck. mall crawler
IMO that air bag system is only for show and would not be able to perform well offroad
Chit-Chat
@chamblizi please send a link to powerstrokehelp@bellsout dot net
Nothing old vs new about this. Its mall crawler vs working truck. I have air on my SAS s10 blazer with Dana 60s and didn't spend what that kit costs including the SAS. Mine was built and used offroad as well as a daily driver.
Stacked rear blocks? LOL
My opinion.
all that money under the truck........Im lucky to afford new tires
20 grand? 20 grand would buy a nice old jeep drop a diesel in it full suspention and axle change and then alot of fuel.
20,000 this guy has no idea a out lifts
Dude F-250 vs F-350 apples and oranges. Nothing in the front is the same no old vs new at all
He's just showing the different types of lift
and it will never see any dirt work.....
