    I'm going through puberty now, and i need a lot of calcium if not i feel weak bones.
    Most of the milk are pasteurize,so it useless.
    Same goes to plant calcium which bind usually with oxlate.
    For adults calcium is not needed,i found that hard cheese are a good source,but they're expensive if made by high quality.
    For adults D3 and k2 are more important than calcium.
    For kids calcium is important.

      I am so lost between these doctors..

    • @naturalbreed3745
      @naturalbreed3745 3 роки тому

      @@marasadi8182 that's basically wishing for kidney stones, the type of calcium inside of egg shells are carbonate which highly dangerous especially for adults.
      Raw unpasteurised dairy products are the best, what happens when you pasteurize them the protein in the milk changes and you can't absorb it.
      If you already past the age 20 i suggest to focus on mobilization of the calcium in your tissues and blood stream into the bone, with D3 and K2.

      I guess now we are talking health advice from pre teens on the internet. Granted K2 and vitamin D is important ....adults do still need calcium and supplements can be useful . The body uses different forms of calcium and so different sources are important so not just supplements but food too and I think deciding how to take both or just one is based on lifestyle and what one can access within reason .

    Was hoping to find out about calcium with magnesium. Don’t they have to be together for calcium absorption? Surprised to hear about the study you cited regarding older women & calcium contributing to kidney stones. Just had lithotripsy surgery for 10mm kidney stone. My urologist recommended calcium citrate to counter oxalates. But if that study shows it to contribute to stones, I’m scared to take it!

    Is 1000 mg or 1200 mg calcium supplement, elemental calcium or total calcium content of the supplement? 1000 mg Calcium Citrate Malate would have 210 mg of elemental Calcium as it has 21% elemental calcium. So should I consume one 1000 mg calcium citrate tablet or 5 tablets each of 1000 mg calcium citrate to get a total of 1050 mg of elemental Calcium each day.

      At that age you should probably want to get all or most of your calcium from your food intake, if you want to take supplements you'll need to make sure you take 1.3 grams a day, that would be about 3 pills of 430 milligrams each, and you'll have to take them at different times a day. • @josephcha3029
      @josephcha3029 2 роки тому +1

      @@karenshelton1240 coming from a student pharmacist who just graduated: calcium needs an acidic ph in the gut to be absorbed. Calcium carbonate is best absorbed with food since carbonate is not already acidic (stomach produces acid to digest food) and is better absorbed if taken with sources of acid like vitamin C, orange juice. Calcium citrate however can be taken with or without food since citrate (citric acid) is already acidic. In addition, calcium is best absorbed with vitamin D (in which most calcium supplements already contain vitamin D)

    • @josephcha3029
      @josephcha3029 2 роки тому +1

      Also, calcium carbonate has 40% elemental calcium (the actual content we need when counting how much calcium we contain) and calcium citrate has 21% elemental calcium. Although calcium carbonate has a higher content of elemental calcium, it is cheaper because it does not get absorbed in our body as well as the calcium citrate does (since calcium carbonate requires an acidic stomach). Unless you take calcium carbonate with food (acidic food preferably), it is more convenient to take calcium citrate since you can take it with or without food (dont need to worry about acidic ph in the gut)
