@@jamescdean9010You familiar with the finger rapping trick? It won't give you a week of silence, but a few moments of temporary relief still counts for something. Basically, you do this: cup both hands against your ears so that your fingers are wrapped around the back of your head. While keeping your hands pressed like this, rap your fingers on both hands against the back of your head rapidly in a wave-like motion (in other words, do "spirit fingers" against the back of your head). It should create a noise like water droplets (only way I can think to describe this) in your ears. Do this for 10-30 seconds, then release your hands from your ears. It should have given you reprieve from tinnitus for about the same amount of time as you did doing this trick. Your tinnitus will slowly come back, but I've found mine seems less noticeable when it does. Regardless, even a moment of silence is bliss for any amount of tinnitus.
I was a Weasel Keeper with the 37th Tac Fighter Wing at George AFB, and our F-4's had a centerline tank and 4 AGM-88's. The F-4E's couldn't carry AGM-88's. Only the F-4G's could carry AGM-88's. When the F-4G'S were flying over Iraq during Desert Storm, the Iraqis would shut off their SAM sites.
the trick with turning off the radar was probably the biggest weakness to the AGM-45, the precursor to the HARM. That problem, as well as many other things were fixed and improved on in the HARM
I was a WCS (radar) fixer in the 35th and 37th TFWs at George, too!!! I was there in the late 70's, early 80's. I would love to see the AGM-78 Standard ARM modelled in DCS. It looked like a telephone pole under the wing when a Weasel was carrying one.
If you're going to fly Iron Hand, you really want the enemy to shoot a few missiles at you so you know exactly where their radar is and what band they're using. It definitely takes a certain kind of pilot to fly SEAD missions.
Unlike the AGM-45 Shrike or the AGM-78 Standard ARM, the AGM-88 HARM has an autopilot to back up the passive RF seeker. If the enemy SAM site shuts down its radar, the autopilot will remember the inertial coordinates of the radar, and the missile will continue to the last computed target location. It's not as accurate as homing all the way, but it is accurate enough, given the size of the blast/frag warhead, to shred the radar antenna and associated equipment. Also note the HARM has a broad-band seeker that has multiple radar signatures programmed into it, so, unlike Shrike or Standard ARM, it doesn't have to be "tuned" for a specific type of radar before the mission.
It’s the best fast wing podcast imho. Long, detailed, no fluff. Starbabys video about his Mosul SA-2 kill should be interesting for F4 pilots, regarding workflow.
What a gorgeous model. We live in an age where we are blessed with such fidelity in these sims. Look at the level of detail on the underside... I'd like to talk to the people that crafted this...
Regarding loadouts, I believe 2x HARM on the outer pylons, and then 3x each Mavericks and cluster bombs on the inboard pylons was also a combat loadout. Then centerline tank, natch, and 2 or 3x Sparrows and a jammer pod in the 4th Sparrow well.
That was another one **** of a mission well accomplished. Well done! The simulation of the F4 looks real good, as far as I can tell. And it´s a beautiful bird in imho, to boot. Thank you for another, as always, great video!
Was a bit surprising seeing the first 2 HARMS come off the same wing, was that a result of forcing those missiles on an F4 or is that how the plane functioned?
With proper air support it can still carry a buttload. It's kinda sad watching all the old air frames get retired but they've done a lot of work. I saw south korea just retired theirs But I get it. Even an old workhorse has its day.😢
@@Name-ps9fx Yes, the F111 had terrain following radar that allowed it to fly extremely low and fast to avoid being picked up on radar. It was much faster than the F4 and almost every other fighter.
The F-4G usually didn't carry wing tanks, as they tended to mask some of the APR-38 (and later APR-45) Radar Homing and Warning system antennas, causing issues with localizing threat emitters (SAM radars). The F-4G carried a 600 gallon centerline tank from the F-15, to make up for the lack of wing tanks. The F-4E 'killer' part of the F-4G / F-4E hunter-killer teams usually carried wing tanks, as very few of the F-4Es were modified to carry the 600 gallon centerline tanks.
1) Those Phantoms are truly Rock&Roll and 2) Seeings those HARMs go ballistic after radar lock is so satisfying to watch. Just my two little cents on yet another great video!
Imma be honest, I was fully expecting you to get slapped out of the sky by a Fulcrum at some point, but I guess you slapped them before they had a chance. Nice flying and awesome vid
Nice video! I've really enjoyed flying the F4E and wondered if you ran into the same bug as I have? My problem is that when I restart my created mission, Jester seems to not be able to lock the ground. What I mean is he just continuously says things like "I got it locked" and I can tell he doesn’t. Since my reticle doesn’t fill up with orange like it does when he actually has the ground locked. I'm sure it's a bug, but I just wondered if you have seen it and maybe have a fix? Anyway, keep it up, and I love flying the F4E. It's 5 out of 5 good! I highly recommend it!!
I would assume this has been brought up before but every time I hear the ending audio of one of your videos, I think you've spent some time in BF games.
Damn the Iraqi rocket budget officer must have crapping his pants! ‘Hamoud, you don’t do the budgets! You’ve already used up the next 2 quarters worth of missiles! I’m going have to spend 3 days just for the procurement paperwork!”
00:19 - I'm sorry. The Phantom is a really cool jet, and I'm loving this content. But every time I see one nose on like this I think of a flying dachshund. 😄
Would be so dope if we eventually get addons for the phantom for other variants. USMC carrier phantoms, yes please, but also GWOT era German and Greek phantoms with upgraded avionics, MFDs and AMRAAM capability, on top of proper F-4G Wild Weasels
GS. Check out some interviews with Duke Cunningham. He was an F4 driver who flew sorties in Vietnam. He's a great story teller. With plenty to tell. I'd highly recommend

The HARM tone sounds just like the tinnitus that I got when I was in the Navy working around military aircraft.
I just did my VA pension exam for hearing loss and tinnitus yesterday and the Doc told me that high ringing was the sound of patriotism.
I'd give $10,000 just to have one week of beautiful silence.
@@rickb1973nice joke of the doc. He doesnt hear it...

Sympathies to that poor Eagle Driver who has to go back to the O-Club and admit a F-4G bailed him out...
Probably only reason Eagles are undefeated. Always a phantom in the area to clear their 6 for them. 😁
The F4 has stolen everyone’s heart in dcs
I know❤
I love the f4❤
I love the Power Glove and the F-4🤘
Thunderchief next.....I hope
Or the Buccaneer ? hmmmmmmmmm

Just seeing the F-4 in this paint scheme, design, and it's role makes me think of the F-35 as the grandson of such a beautiful plane
For anyone interested in the F-4G I would strongly recommend the crew interviews on the channel Ten Percent True.

Ahh the soothing sounds of the VA hearing test!
the F-4E has been out for 2 days and GS is already modding weapons 💀
Pushing boundaries mate
I was wondering if this was possible but deadass have no idea how to do it , the shrikes suck ass
Patiently waiting for GS to drop the BF3 F-18 mission “Going Hunting”
I am almost getting old ... the F4 will always have and BE one the of the most revered and loved platform of all time ....outstanding!

God the F4 looks strange in "standard" gray paint lol, I'm so used to seeing it in green/brown camo.
I'd love to see an F4 vs A4 dogfight from both sides.
Such an attractive, curvaceous and fast flying jet. Even after all these years, the phantom F4-E still looks beautiful beyond it's years.
There is a book called 'Magnum' by Brick Eisel and Jim Schreiber about this very thing, it's a fascinating read.

There was a story floated about an F-4G engaging a B-52 with a HARM. Not sure of the validity, but interesting none the less.
Who was flying the Phantom?
@@BlyGuy US. Supposedly the B-52 activated its tail-gun radar about the time that the Weasel fired the HARM and the HARM bit off on it.

At Gowen Field in Boise, they had RF-4s, then F-4Gs, and now A-10s. In 2026, they are supposed to be getting F-16s.
IDK why but SEAD missions have become some of my fav to watch you do. It's just such a cool thing to do, "F*ck your SAMs I'm coming in anyway"
I just realized something, the way the sidepods on the f4 slope down, it's like a modern f1 car.
Solid performance! 2 MiGs and a whole bunch of SAMs, pleasure to watch!
Give the USN some love! We need carrier launches.
The Navy model of the F-4 isn't out yet, I don't think. At least not the official HeatBlur one. I would love for it to be, though!
"F-4 with a Mig-29 kill"
Coughing Baby vs Atomic Bomb, but the Coughing Baby actually wins... _twice_
Loving the Phantom content. 👻
If they aren’t canonically known as SEAD Glasses, they absolutely should be!
It’s cool youve done the f16 and f4 recently. When my dad entered the Air Force he did fuels for the f4 and retired attached to f16s

The Phantom is a marvel, especially the one Turkey Modernized.

@4:49 that's why brown pants are standard for SEAD missions
There's a reason why their moto used to be YGBSM.
