"I don't want to insult animals" - haha, brilliant comment! I'm learning a little Ukrainian because I hope to visit your country some sensible time after Victory Day. It would be a privilege to see such a beautiful country and such amazing people.
Kishka is a crazy false friend with Polish! In our language, this word means "intestines". 🤣 Please, speak more Ukrainian in your videos - listening to this beautiful language is a real pleasure. ☺
In Ukrainian "intestine" is Кишка (Kyshka). In plural it is Kyshky and the whole system is Kyshkivnyk Female cat is Кішка (Kishka). But we often call it Kyts'ka or Kytsia. Male cat is Kit Whale is Kyt
I loved the fact that spider is pavuk and it sounds close to "pavor", which is portuguese for "fright"/"afraid". I know a few people who have "pavor" of "pavuk" hahaha
My dog is almost always with me except when I clean. Tonight I was reciting along with this video while I put away dishes, and when I said "Я маю собака, звати Archie,” my husband called out from two rooms away that Archie heard his name and was excited!
Another great video, Inna ! Я маю кота; Її звуть Мурлі; I had to use Google as I don´t even have the means to write Cyrillic on a PC even if I knew it. By the way, you look well rested and much more energetic in your latest videos (compared to Easter). Today I received the "hoodie" I ordered from your shop !
You can go to keyboard in your settings and add Ukrainian and it toggles back and forth. I only have an iPhone and I do all my lessons on it Героям Слава! 🌻🇺🇦
Everybody wants to learn swearing! (If for no other reason, to recognize when someone is mad, haha) If you make this video, it will likely be very, very popular. 👍 Thank you for the video, and for your work on them!
60-70% animal names almost like in Polish. 3 months ago I couldn't distinguish Ukrainian from Russian, but as I hear more and more Ukrainian anywhere I think maybe I should consider to learn. I'm shocked how similar it is to Polish.
Ukrainian is having more in common with Polish, Serbian, Belarusian than Russian by quite a bit more- especially if you remove the Surzhik (blended language) factor.
I got a dog one week ago. He is an 11 month old borzoi named Cecil and he is sooo sweet. He played in a river today for the first time today and now he is asleep at the foot of my bed as I write this. I hope you will have house space for a dog soon ❤️
@@danielekvitka9348 In the Latin alphabet you wrote it out correctly! In the USA- by someone *actually* trying their best Ukrainian pronunciation- "Shchūr(r)"- with a slight roll on the "rr"
Learning the proper way to use strong language would make Ukrainian learners more functional. I think being able to more fully understand the videos we see coming from the war would be better for all of us. Just because a topic is considered unsavory by some facets of society, doesn’t mean it should be ignored. Such tendencies have proven troublesome and even harmful in the past. Thanks so much Inna for all of your help!

Because you asked. Yes. Please teach us how to swear in Ukrainian. Not that I'm ever going to use the swear words, mind you. But it would be useful to know when someone is calling me a bad name. I found the video very useful, since everyone has been around animals their whole lives. Слава Українi
Do you have a video for pet commands in ukrainian? Like sit, come here, lie down, paw, good girl/good boy, stay, etc. I can't seem to find anything online talking about it You did briefly mention saying good dog - just to clarify, гарна собака is for female dogs and гарний собака is for male dogs or both?
I would like to know what the soldiers on Snake Island said to the Russian ship when they told them to surrender, that became a famous phrase. Thank you.
Well, because you'll find yourself saying them a lot maybe lol You can find a lot of lists online for them, but some might not even really sound like a swear word in English and others are exactly the same.
How would you say guinea pig in Ukrainian? It may also be known as a cavy, if you don’t know what it is. I have 2 of them, and I’d love to be able to talk to my friends about them in Ukrainian, which we’re both learning.
Love your video, but I'd like to mention that animals sometimes have masculine and feminine forms, for example: Качка/ качур - duck Коза/ козел - goat Вовк/ вовчиця - wolf Лис/ лисиця - fox
2:10 It's even funnier in Polish, where the word for a man ends with an a, thus formally enforcing feminine declension pattern, while the adjective and verb agreement remains masculine. Semantically, 'mężczyzna' is of course masculine. Masculinity however, is fully... feminine in Polish.

Well, I don't know how is "grammatically correct", but never heard anyone who would actually say "гарний собака" to a female dog.

Kot, kotek, kotka, kocur, kocię, kociak, kiciuś, kociątko, koteczka, kocurek, kocica. That's how we call cats in Poland.
Maybe you know the "Gammalsvenskby" - However, my sister has a "pes" called Smilla that´s a labrador.
My grandmother would say this one story at night before we went to sleep: Zeyechecka Zeyechecka(bunny) and vovk. Do u know this?
Fox, in ukrainian language, is лис (masculine) and лисица (feminine). Is this translation correct?
Yes, лисиця is more correct. Never heard лиса in Ukrainian
Yes! I would love to learn Ukrainian swears. All my Ukrainian friends refuse to teach me Russian or Ukrainian swear words

Love your video, but I'd like to mention that animals sometimes have masculine and feminine forms, for example:
Качка/ качур - duck
Коза/ козел - goat
Вовк/ вовчиця - wolf
Лис/ лисиця - fox
You should add the English masculine/feminine forms then:
duck/drake
nanny/buck
wolf/luna
Fox/vixen
We also call Вивірка for squirrel and Лисиця is more usual for fox
Was fun to learn animal names, but I will also watch the swearing video. Looking forward to when you post it.
