I forgot to mention the existence of the Flowerstone Gavel and Florissax Spirit Ashes. The weapon skill debuffs enemies to make them take ~15% more lightning damage. It does have an arcane requirement but it’s not that high. So the lightning spells are even better than the gameplay suggests.

tbf frozen lightning makes sense since it’s just artificial lightning made by the Nox when they created the dragonkin. Black flames on the other hand, kind of a let down and should have been more added in the dlc.
I guess cause Black flames are OP against bosses and would have made the Dlc easier if we had even better Black flame spells. Imagine a Black flame spell that shoots 6 projectiles like Knights lightning spear

Knight's Lightning Spear is so good. Once I got it the first time, I immediately made my build around it. I haven't had this much fun chucking lightning since OG pre patch Dark Souls 2.
My second playthrough in the DLC was a faith caster. I ran and got a few scadutree fragments then went straight to get this spell. Feel bad for the hippos running around in the water...
I just got done doing an Incant only run through the base game and dlc….i never realized just how many bosses (especially in the dlc) are in some sort of water, the lighting incants absolutely hard carried
Yea I respecced dex/faith shortly into the dlc since I had never really used the offensive incants much, and there are a ton of areas that have enemies standing in like 6” of water. Lightening is already such a strong damage type, the fact that it gets buffed by standing water and rain is just chef’s kiss. Ancient dragon cult incants ftw.
You beat the final boss of the dlc with incants? What did you use?! I’m super curious bc I considered it but I just couldn’t think of anything that could do good damage and also hit in the tiny windows of punishment you get.
@@nerdthatcantfit1079 took some time for sure but I was finally able to get him; he did the scripted spin attack at the start of the fight, I rolled through and got behind him and was able to get off a full charged Ancient dragon lighting, this felt lucky bc it took probably 20 tries to actually get a fully charged cast off and actually get a good amount of hits on him, that got him to phase change immediately, second phase hit him with an uncharged ancient dragon which got him down to about 10-15% health, he went for the meteor attack, ran all the way to on side of the arena and when he landed I was able to get a charged cast of knights lighting spear, and finished him off with crucible horn, this was actually the 2nd strat I was trying in that fight, the first one was trying to use crucible horn to get a stance break and use the stance break to get a full charged ancient dragon lighting, I feel like that strat could definitely work but it’s tough getting openings to charge crucible horn, I thought about using dragon claw/maw to get stance break but he would knock me out of the animation every time, sorry if this was too detailed lol but it was tough, definitely felt like I could have been there for another 40 attempts or so but I got a good rng run

The only thing I dislike about Knight's Lightning Spear is the strangely short range. It can be quite deceptive when it fizzles out just before hitting the enemy. Personally I love multilayered Rings of Light, the real destructo disc!
I just realized with the dlc you can do some crazy buff stacking for chargeable dragon cult spells: +20% Lightning cracked tear +20% blood sucking tear +20% priestess heart +15% gravel stone seal x2 (stacks when power stanced on NG+) +15% Godfrey icon +12.5% lightning Scorpion charm +15% golden vow +25% Howl of Shabriri Because the buffs are multiplicative instead of additive you end up getting a 300+% damage increase And for some overkill use the Flowerstone Gavel AoW for -15% lightning negation to you enemy
@@rashanking4171 I would assume dual gravel seal because I don’t think the incant/faith scaling of the erdtree seal would equate to a 15% damage increase, but you might get there if you have an 80+ faith 80+ int build using the golden order seal
Ancient dragon lightning strike does not benefit frm godfrey icon. You can also use flock's canvas and faithful canvas, and red feathered branch sword, though it is tricky to set up this last talisman

However, at 80 faith, gravel stone only has 366 effective incant scaling compared to 353 of the erdtree seal, making it far less effective. If you are at max level, using golden order seal in the one hand for 418 incant scaling and an off handed gravel stone seal is best
My uneducated theory on why Knights Lightning Spear doesn't trigger enemy reactions, is that maybe theres a check for "Night" in the spells name to negate reactions. And since Knight has night in its name...maybe that?
The game was developed by a Japanese studio. Don't think they're using English checks for "night," and in Japanese knight and night are spelled differently. Also doesn't really make sense to make a check based on the spell's name coding wise, makes more sense to attach a unique id/flag to a spell that checks/decides certain behaviors. If you used names for behaviors, you would have to double check to see if the name you chose for a spell triggered any flags every time you made one which seems like a lot of wasted time.

Names have had odd associations in ER, for example the Roar Medallion didn't affect things it seemed like should have in early patches. And yet Eochaids Dancing Blade gets a buff from the Dancers set, where "dance" is pretty loosely defined.
Before the DLC hit, I'd argue for Scarlet Aeonia for shaving 40% off every boss fight, while also being the best "Mimic Tear" incantation in the game... Hefty Rot Pots are too stronk tho
Even still, it has good hyper armor and does great AoE damage. Made farming the Messmer Soldier's Spear so easy. Jump down, cast the spell, kill all 4 every time.
I really wish blood flame incantations were better, they are such a fantastic spell type but the incantations themselves are kinda middling. Although you can bleed at range so

Ancient dragon lighting strike is the defacto best designed burst spell in elden ring. It requires proper positioning to function and doesnt function well against high mobility targets. Plus its fun as hell to use
I feel like Burn, O Flame! deserves an honorable mention next to Ancient Dragons Lightning Strike. It’s a very similar spell that usually does more damage to small-medium sized enemies, will knock down smaller enemies, synergizes with Flame, Grant Me Strength, and uses the same buffs/talismans as the more pyromancer-centric incants. It helps that it synergizes with Blasphemous Blade/Taker’s Flames, as well, if you’re going for more of a spell-sword style.
I'm kind of sad water magic hasnt been introduced. Imagine a super high pressure water gun blast, or throwing huge waves. Applies a wet status, and then you hit em with the good ol lightening spear.
I put Knight's Lightning Spear at #1. The spell looks amazing, is easy to use, does great damage, and works against literally anything. Big targets, small targets, it's fantastic. By far my favorite incantation. I was amazed once I picked this up in the DLC. Ancient Dragon's Lightning is great, but it feels like a "win harder" spell. All the really large bosses that it's so good against aren't very difficult to start with (imo).
i really like black flame. it works for everything. you get it very early. it's cheap. it's quick. the correct seal is right next to it. it can be charged. it always deals good damage.

Knight's lightning spear and lightning spear same as night comet are invisible spells, calling back to the "speed of lightning" from real world, meaning enemy don't input and animation read it becuase it's technically too fast for them to see.
Surprised Scarlet Aeonia wasn't here. That being said, all of these spells are amazing. How close was Stone of Gurranq to making it? I still love that spell. Especially on a Blue Dancer build. The aoe of it still surprises me from time to time.
So many cool incantations in the dlc.......... And yet the two best ones are practically reskin of their base game counterparts ( lightning spear and pest threads) I'm just gonna call it rn. Top 10 most underrated incantations and top 5 best weapons for the deflecting hardtear.
I like borealis's mist, specifically for the ability to jump cast it. Jumping off a ledge to melt a group of smaller enemies, or hovering over ground-based AoE effects against bosses.
Glad to see Sacred Ring of Light on your top ten. Such a low key awesome spell. The spam cast ability, range and surprising damage. What a redemption from the ds3 version.
Youwy can you do an all armor ranking based on their damage resistance vs weight vs special skill. I feel like that would be better before doing a weapon ranking cause a patch might change everything.
Arcane and faith priestess builds are so powerful in pve, you can two shot bayle with ancient dragon lightning storm and decent rng plus dragon communion seal with high arcane and faith hits 380 incant scaling easily
i don’t know why nobody ever mentions stone of gurranq which for me proved one of the most versitale useful incantations in the game because it comes out quickly is spammable lets opponents twitch makes great damage and is the go to invasion and npc killer
Great choices. You can cheese the whole game using Frenzied Burst and Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike. I'd like to give a shout out to Giant's Flame Take Thee. Fireball deals massive fire damage and then explodes dealing more damage and knocking most enemies over. You can fully charge and throw another before the enemy can even get up meaning they can't do anything. Really useful for easy mode against NPC invaders and characters, Malenia, the fire knight guys from the dlc, etc etc etc... Catch Flame is more efficient FP wise, is crazy quick and has higher DPS but is not as easy or cheesy to use.

Use two dragon communion seals. It is 15% more damage for each of the seals, and together they give 32% more damage. At max level, Erdtree seal is never the best. It is the best at less than 108 points of stats into the seal's scaling stats, after that, Dragon Communion seal wins for a long time. if you are going to use something other than Dragon Communion spells, Golden Order seal is better
Multilayered ring of light also belongs here IMO. It infinitely staggers small/some medium enemies while dealing a considerable amount of damage. When dealing with dodgy or high poise enemies, simply switch to triple rings of light, which is boosted by the same equipment. These two spells along with Miquella’s light, which is a long range snipe + AOE 2 in 1 package basically cover most if not all enemy encounters in the game. Still waiting for them to fix miquella’s light not being boosted by dryleaf seal tho, there’s no way this is intended.
Enemies will react to the Knight's Lightning Spear but when you start the cast not when you launch the projectile. As far as I've seen they won't react to the projectile so it is best to hold it before throwing because a quick cast might cause them to dodge. The tracking is still pretty good if you do come across somewhat squirrely enemies.
6:37 One good thing about pest thread spears is that no enemy will actually resist its damage type that much but ancient dragon lightning strike gets reduced damage by enemies that resist Lightning damage like ancient dragons. Also most bosses resist all elemental damage types by 20 or 40 so this will be good also for that. Pest thread spears doesn't have any particular element, I think it's physical or pierce not sure. No offense to ancient dragon lightning strike spell that's still goated.
Its standard damage, like all physical spells. In practice, it just means pest threads spears does relatively well against elemental resistant enemies like mohg and elden beast

Personally, I like Burn O flame! more than the lightning strike cause of this nice squatting animation, which allows all these huge horizontal swipes just go overhead. Also, the fire columns have a good chance of appearing even if the character is staggered mid-cast. The spell is so much better than in the DS trilogy
Burn o flame overall deals less damage, has a worse damage type, and if you do get hit, your incantation may be cancelled. It takes too long for the incantation to kill the enemy

@@andreyshirman1705 What I mean is that the flame pillars do not come out fast enough so the attack( the bolts or the flame pillars) is shorter for lightning strike. I think I did not explain myself clearly enough with the staggering bit. If you get hit while using lightning strike, and the lightning is out, the entire incantations will come out. This is not the case for burn o flame. If you get hit too early, the rest of the flame pillars do not come out. Besides, Ancient dragon lightning strike has better range. You are just asking to be hit with burn o flame
@@spongbobsquarepants3922 Well, in my case the range didn't matter much, cause the modus operandi was to crawl under bosses' ass and unleash, hoping for its attack to pass above character's head (Radanh and Rellana were especially docile). A dagger in the right hand with Endure also helped. Didn't test enough to compare the damage difference between spells (and for smaller foes it is much an RNG thing). But, just to mention, the oil tear exists, and bosses like the sunflower also exist, so it depends on a situation. In general, it is all a question of preference, I suppose. In PvE we're talking more about sufficiency than efficiency. Btw, twin princes are the knightly figure with sword(s), and the feminine figure with holy magic riding him. May have mixed up games a bit, yet the essence remains :)
Really takes me back to my first playthrough. I ended up going int faith on a whim because I’d never done it in a souls game before and was just one shotting bosses with ancient dragons lightning strike.
I just started a dragon communion run and what I've learned about long cast spells is that Endure is the goat. You get a heck ton of defense and don't get hit out of spells. Currently I can say endure is one of the best aows in the game for slower builds.
@@xXLunatikxXlul I mean, it doesn't replace learning the boss, but having killed mohg it can stop normal attacks and you can make opening where there wouldn't otherwise be one and makes those trades worth it. You just need to know what attacks you can trade with.
Great list as always. I'd personally have Fire Serpent as at least an honorable mention. It's so easy and safe and it does respectable damage without any buffs. However Giant Golden Arc would've absolutely made my list. It has COMICAL tracking to the point it loops around to hit enemies It goes through multiple of them It has a faster cast than Bestial Sling??? And it's chargeable and it's big The only downside is the hefty FP cost for how spammable it is but everything else about it is so ridiculous.
ADLS is still the best one shot option in the game It's unbelievably broken, even against smaller enemies, if they tend to be the type to back up they literally off themselves by just backing into a second third or even fourth bolt And each one of the knights lightning spear projectiles can trigger the water AOE causing up to 7 of those little aoes at the same time, in the same spot, against an enemy with 20% lower lightning defenses, the hippo took like 4 casts...
A prediction of some Sorceries I think will make that eventual top 10 video: Impenetrable Thorns (Probably going to be number 1. Slicer is more convenient on a new character because of location and requirements but I mean cmon. Thorns is absolutely ridiculous). Slicer (Is going to be top 3 no doubt) Ranni's Dark Moon (Debuff Utility is SOOOOO good for bosses and harder enemies even despite having high requirements) Terra Magica (Even after the nerf, the utility is still there) Night Comet Blades of Stone/Rock Sling (Physical Damage utility and stagger potential) Carian Piercer (Chargeable, pierce damage is nuts, and cheeses the absolute hell out of NPC type enemies and bosses) Magma Shot (Great fire coverage and boosted by Talisman of the Dread + Godfrey's) Potential Honorable mentions: (These are mostly just spells I love but whatever) Zamor Ice Storm Shard Spiral (better than Thorns for bigger bosses that don't bleed) Icecrag (ranged frost buildup) Ancient Death Rancor (Personally very unsure if this will make the list or honorable mentions but at high levels this spell is a melt machine. Chargeable, spammable, and it looks badass. If this thing had passive frost...)
Hey Youwy, love your videos so much, they really helped me on my recent playthroughs. Was wondering, though you already made 2 DLC builds, could you, perchance, perhaps make a third?
My new favorite is the multi ring light. I can keep spamming it and it also stun locks certain enemies. Great for flying enemies too. The only downside is the tracking is a bit slow and it can miss fast moving enemies...and the projectile can get stuck sometimes. I mean I also use knight's lightning spear but this ones one more fun in my opinion.
If you look closely you’ll see that Catch Flame doesn’t produce a glyph when cast. It doesn’t fall under any incantation category even though it superficially appears to be a Fire Monk or Fire Giant spell. So no bonuses.
Since the dlc attracted a lot of new players to the game as well. It would be pretty cool if you would make a new best starter and best mid level build again since most of those are outdated.
I chessed the main game and the DLC with Blasphemous Blade and the Halo Scythe on my Faith build. Then I found the spears and finally had a move on horseback.
I really hope they don't nerf Heal From Afar outside the arena, it's the only spell making support/healer builds viable, either they don't nerf it or they buff the other healing spells in compensation. Right now the spell is just perfect (outside the arena where it is simply unfairly broken and makes you immortal)
I just beat Maliketh because he jumped through my fully charged Ancient Dragon's Lightning Strike and accidentally oneshotted him in his second phase. So yeah, it seems to be a decent incantation.
Note: Frenzied Burst - enemies won't even try to dodge it, it's like night spells. Also, note, if something else deals 25% more damage, then the thing dealing less damage is dealing 20% less damage. Maths!
I know you put in on the honorable mention, but i think heal from afar should be top 10 ( freenzy burst would be out of top 10 for me ) is not that much slower comparated with a flask and the heal it offers is crazy, fp consumption is lowet than even regular heal, on a faith, faith int and faith arc build, you can just dump nearly every single flask to be cerulean and you will never die to a bossfight, while having a lot of survavility for the areas

Ancient dragon lighting spear is why I can’t say faith is mid. Every single large boss wall there could be, this spell has gotten me through. I first tried Placidusax with it. Fire golems are a joke. It’s so good (when it works.)
personally, i would put knights lightning and catch flame above ancient dragon lightning strike. They are just useful in so many more situations. Outside of large bosses i hardly ever use lightning strike

My uneducated theory on why Knights Lightning Spear doesn't trigger enemy reactions, is that maybe theres a check for "Night" in the spells name to negate reactions. And since Knight has night in its name...maybe that?
The game was developed by a Japanese studio. Don't think they're using English checks for "night," and in Japanese knight and night are spelled differently. Also doesn't really make sense to make a check based on the spell's name coding wise, makes more sense to attach a unique id/flag to a spell that checks/decides certain behaviors. If you used names for behaviors, you would have to double check to see if the name you chose for a spell triggered any flags every time you made one which seems like a lot of wasted time.

Names have had odd associations in ER, for example the Roar Medallion didn't affect things it seemed like should have in early patches. And yet Eochaids Dancing Blade gets a buff from the Dancers set, where "dance" is pretty loosely defined.
Before the DLC hit, I'd argue for Scarlet Aeonia for shaving 40% off every boss fight, while also being the best "Mimic Tear" incantation in the game... Hefty Rot Pots are too stronk tho

Even still, it has good hyper armor and does great AoE damage. Made farming the Messmer Soldier's Spear so easy. Jump down, cast the spell, kill all 4 every time.

Ancient dragon lighting strike is the defacto best designed burst spell in elden ring. It requires proper positioning to function and doesnt function well against high mobility targets. Plus its fun as hell to use

I feel like Burn, O Flame! deserves an honorable mention next to Ancient Dragons Lightning Strike. It’s a very similar spell that usually does more damage to small-medium sized enemies, will knock down smaller enemies, synergizes with Flame, Grant Me Strength, and uses the same buffs/talismans as the more pyromancer-centric incants. It helps that it synergizes with Blasphemous Blade/Taker’s Flames, as well, if you’re going for more of a spell-sword style.

I'm kind of sad water magic hasnt been introduced. Imagine a super high pressure water gun blast, or throwing huge waves. Applies a wet status, and then you hit em with the good ol lightening spear.
It would probably be a mainly sorcery element tho especially since we already have the bubble spells and such

I put Knight's Lightning Spear at #1. The spell looks amazing, is easy to use, does great damage, and works against literally anything. Big targets, small targets, it's fantastic. By far my favorite incantation. I was amazed once I picked this up in the DLC. Ancient Dragon's Lightning is great, but it feels like a "win harder" spell. All the really large bosses that it's so good against aren't very difficult to start with (imo).

i really like black flame. it works for everything.
you get it very early. it's cheap. it's quick. the correct seal is right next to it. it can be charged. it always deals good damage.
I find it too weak. It is fairly safe though, but Giant Flame take thee is stronger though slower, but there is always a better option

Knight's lightning spear and lightning spear same as night comet are invisible spells, calling back to the "speed of lightning" from real world, meaning enemy don't input and animation read it becuase it's technically too fast for them to see.
Surprised Scarlet Aeonia wasn't here. That being said, all of these spells are amazing.
How close was Stone of Gurranq to making it? I still love that spell. Especially on a Blue Dancer build. The aoe of it still surprises me from time to time.

I like borealis's mist, specifically for the ability to jump cast it. Jumping off a ledge to melt a group of smaller enemies, or hovering over ground-based AoE effects against bosses.

Arcane and faith priestess builds are so powerful in pve, you can two shot bayle with ancient dragon lightning storm and decent rng plus dragon communion seal with high arcane and faith hits 380 incant scaling easily

i don’t know why nobody ever mentions stone of gurranq which for me proved one of the most versitale useful incantations in the game because it comes out quickly is spammable lets opponents twitch makes great damage and is the go to invasion and npc killer
Great choices. You can cheese the whole game using Frenzied Burst and Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike. I'd like to give a shout out to Giant's Flame Take Thee. Fireball deals massive fire damage and then explodes dealing more damage and knocking most enemies over. You can fully charge and throw another before the enemy can even get up meaning they can't do anything. Really useful for easy mode against NPC invaders and characters, Malenia, the fire knight guys from the dlc, etc etc etc... Catch Flame is more efficient FP wise, is crazy quick and has higher DPS but is not as easy or cheesy to use.
The Knight's lightning spear is just epic. Already loved the basic version

Use two dragon communion seals. It is 15% more damage for each of the seals, and together they give 32% more damage. At max level, Erdtree seal is never the best. It is the best at less than 108 points of stats into the seal's scaling stats, after that, Dragon Communion seal wins for a long time. if you are going to use something other than Dragon Communion spells, Golden Order seal is better
Multilayered ring of light also belongs here IMO. It infinitely staggers small/some medium enemies while dealing a considerable amount of damage. When dealing with dodgy or high poise enemies, simply switch to triple rings of light, which is boosted by the same equipment. These two spells along with Miquella’s light, which is a long range snipe + AOE 2 in 1 package basically cover most if not all enemy encounters in the game. Still waiting for them to fix miquella’s light not being boosted by dryleaf seal tho, there’s no way this is intended.
Enemies will react to the Knight's Lightning Spear but when you start the cast not when you launch the projectile. As far as I've seen they won't react to the projectile so it is best to hold it before throwing because a quick cast might cause them to dodge. The tracking is still pretty good if you do come across somewhat squirrely enemies.
6:37 One good thing about pest thread spears is that no enemy will actually resist its damage type that much but ancient dragon lightning strike gets reduced damage by enemies that resist Lightning damage like ancient dragons. Also most bosses resist all elemental damage types by 20 or 40 so this will be good also for that. Pest thread spears doesn't have any particular element, I think it's physical or pierce not sure. No offense to ancient dragon lightning strike spell that's still goated.
Its standard damage, like all physical spells. In practice, it just means pest threads spears does relatively well against elemental resistant enemies like mohg and elden beast

Heal From Afar makes me feel like I'm playing the healer character in any Tales Of game. I like it because of that.
Ancient dragons' lightning strike has carried me so hard this dlc. Trivialised almost all dragon and golem encounters.
Personally, I like Burn O flame! more than the lightning strike cause of this nice squatting animation, which allows all these huge horizontal swipes just go overhead. Also, the fire columns have a good chance of appearing even if the character is staggered mid-cast. The spell is so much better than in the DS trilogy
Burn o flame overall deals less damage, has a worse damage type, and if you do get hit, your incantation may be cancelled. It takes too long for the incantation to kill the enemy
@@spongbobsquarepants3922 meh, I got staggered of the lightning strike way more. And saying that this spell doesn't kill enemies fast enough is simply wrong. Dlc bosses and elite mobs on ng+ got incinerated just fine, including twin princes.
@@andreyshirman1705 What I mean is that the flame pillars do not come out fast enough so the attack( the bolts or the flame pillars) is shorter for lightning strike.
I think I did not explain myself clearly enough with the staggering bit.
If you get hit while using lightning strike, and the lightning is out, the entire incantations will come out. This is not the case for burn o flame. If you get hit too early, the rest of the flame pillars do not come out. Besides, Ancient dragon lightning strike has better range. You are just asking to be hit with burn o flame

@@spongbobsquarepants3922 Well, in my case the range didn't matter much, cause the modus operandi was to crawl under bosses' ass and unleash, hoping for its attack to pass above character's head (Radanh and Rellana were especially docile). A dagger in the right hand with Endure also helped.
Didn't test enough to compare the damage difference between spells (and for smaller foes it is much an RNG thing). But, just to mention, the oil tear exists, and bosses like the sunflower also exist, so it depends on a situation.
In general, it is all a question of preference, I suppose. In PvE we're talking more about sufficiency than efficiency.
Btw, twin princes are the knightly figure with sword(s), and the feminine figure with holy magic riding him. May have mixed up games a bit, yet the essence remains :)
Really takes me back to my first playthrough. I ended up going int faith on a whim because I’d never done it in a souls game before and was just one shotting bosses with ancient dragons lightning strike.

I just started a dragon communion run and what I've learned about long cast spells is that Endure is the goat. You get a heck ton of defense and don't get hit out of spells. Currently I can say endure is one of the best aows in the game for slower builds.
You also get a free slow incantation of at the start of a fight, because you always start so far away from the boss.
I’ve noticed it doesn’t help against attacks that otherwise knockback or knock up the player into the air though 😅
@@xXLunatikxXlul I mean, it doesn't replace learning the boss, but having killed mohg it can stop normal attacks and you can make opening where there wouldn't otherwise be one and makes those trades worth it. You just need to know what attacks you can trade with.

I'd personally have Fire Serpent as at least an honorable mention. It's so easy and safe and it does respectable damage without any buffs.
However Giant Golden Arc would've absolutely made my list.
It has COMICAL tracking to the point it loops around to hit enemies
It goes through multiple of them
It has a faster cast than Bestial Sling???
And it's chargeable and it's big
The only downside is the hefty FP cost for how spammable it is but everything else about it is so ridiculous.
ADLS is still the best one shot option in the game
It's unbelievably broken, even against smaller enemies, if they tend to be the type to back up they literally off themselves by just backing into a second third or even fourth bolt
And each one of the knights lightning spear projectiles can trigger the water AOE causing up to 7 of those little aoes at the same time, in the same spot, against an enemy with 20% lower lightning defenses, the hippo took like 4 casts...

My new favorite is the multi ring light. I can keep spamming it and it also stun locks certain enemies. Great for flying enemies too. The only downside is the tracking is a bit slow and it can miss fast moving enemies...and the projectile can get stuck sometimes. I mean I also use knight's lightning spear but this ones one more fun in my opinion.

It doesn't
If you look closely you’ll see that Catch Flame doesn’t produce a glyph when cast. It doesn’t fall under any incantation category even though it superficially appears to be a Fire Monk or Fire Giant spell. So no bonuses.
Since the dlc attracted a lot of new players to the game as well. It would be pretty cool if you would make a new best starter and best mid level build again since most of those are outdated.

I chessed the main game and the DLC with Blasphemous Blade and the Halo Scythe on my Faith build.
Then I found the spears and finally had a move on horseback.
Multilayered rings of light is fun to use and it does good damage, has good range and can actually stagger some enemies
Malenias scarlet rot flower is amazing for proccing rot with hyper armor in every fight too
I really hope they don't nerf Heal From Afar outside the arena, it's the only spell making support/healer builds viable, either they don't nerf it or they buff the other healing spells in compensation. Right now the spell is just perfect (outside the arena where it is simply unfairly broken and makes you immortal)
So sad that Dragon's Maw is basically better than Bayle's flame lightning :/

I just beat Maliketh because he jumped through my fully charged Ancient Dragon's Lightning Strike and accidentally oneshotted him in his second phase. So yeah, it seems to be a decent incantation.
Note: Frenzied Burst - enemies won't even try to dodge it, it's like night spells.
Also, note, if something else deals 25% more damage, then the thing dealing less damage is dealing 20% less damage. Maths!

I know you put in on the honorable mention, but i think heal from afar should be top 10 ( freenzy burst would be out of top 10 for me ) is not that much slower comparated with a flask and the heal it offers is crazy, fp consumption is lowet than even regular heal, on a faith, faith int and faith arc build, you can just dump nearly every single flask to be cerulean and you will never die to a bossfight, while having a lot of survavility for the areas
Interesting how you aim to end up with a list that has an option for any situation. It would be nice to see a top 10 of sorceries and incantations together, for the weirdos like me who are running a int/faith build and don't know what to pick 😂

The Putrescent Knight gave me a bit of trouble, till I tried using Ancient Dragons Lightning Strike… almost felt a little bad.

Ancient dragon lighting spear is why I can’t say faith is mid. Every single large boss wall there could be, this spell has gotten me through.

True. ADLS is pretty meh in tightly knit catacombs or caves. I definitely take catch flame or knights lightning spear over it for those instances
