I have a barrel that sits under a gutter and it collects the water that runs off. The barrel is off Amazon. My husband set it up. It’s not attached or anything and I’m scared to show it because I don’t know if it’s how you’re supposed to do it or not. I guess I just don’t want the negative comments :/
I just potted up my sp columbia and it has a new growth point. now that I'm rewatching this I think I need to repot it so it can be a little deeper lol. Thanks girl ! 😊
Your Gloriosum looks so healthy and I LOVE the pots. I got a Gloriosum 3 years ago which I propagated into 3 plants a year later. Now two of them have pushed their way out of 6 inch pots while the third is about to do the same. I'll be getting the same pots because I like your idea of using the bottom section as a drip tray, they're attractive, and have lots of room for growth. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, you are the Dr Doolittle of plants, Plantologist Extraordinaire for sure. After watching this video, I am going to research rectangular pots and when it is optimal to use them. Also, I think your hypothesis about the copper wire impacting your plant is likely true. Copper will leach into water especially when the water is stagnant and has a pH on the low side. Lastly I’d like to compliment your watering can, it looks well designed and functional. Thanks for another excellent video.
Thank you!! My gut was telling me it was that but I know I can’t say for sure. It just seems so odd it happened after the repotting with it and it was growing just fine before. It makes sense! The watering can is from Walmart!! I love it! 😂🙌🏼

I found a neglected Gloriosum Silver in my favorite plant shop, and I was able to buy it for a song. It was never repotted when it crawled to the edge of it's pot, so now I am in the process of trying to rescue, replant, and rehab it. Unfortunately, since it outgrew it's current pot, it started growing down over the lip of the pot and has a pretty severe J shaped bend in the stem. Trying to figure out the best approach for it.
Your Gloriosum looks so good in that container. 😍 Just fyi I’ve used copper wire too pin Plowmanii an Glorrisum chunks in the soil many times with no issues. Copper wire is also used for Bonsai, so I think there was a different issue as long as the wire was pure copper. 💚
@@plantsbymelissa I’d be obsessed too, lol gorgeous 😍 I don’t know about craft wire, but if ever needed you can buy heavy gauge copper at Lowes last time I got it, it was 59. Cent a ft. Love the triangle pots you got. 💚
Thank you! I love the leaves on this one! I fell in love with this plant a long time ago and was so sad it didn't grow well for me but I'm very happy with it now 🤗
Melissa! All 3 turned out beautiful! I am gling to check those pots out for sure.....also I wanted to tell you I just ordered som Solsoils and used your code! Your Gloriosum is so so pretty...and your Mamei is so silver...mine has only a couple silver flecks...I like the more silver one :) happy 17K!
Hi Melissa. I’ve recently bought a gloriosum and have been looking at rectangular pots like in your video. The ones i was looking at are 27cms. Can I ask how long yours are please? 🙂
I only use super thrive to reduce any repotting shock or if I'm rehabbing plants in addition to osmocote. I add osmocote as a fertilizer 3x year in my pots since it's a slow release 🥰

Your gloriosum is beautiful too. The leaves are so velvety.
Thank you so much!
That newest leaf will grow towards the closest grow light, whether it’s in front or behind the light.

Your Gloriosum looks amazing in that pot! I’m thinking my Mamei might need a bigger pot because it’s not doing that great. Thanks for this video 💚💚💚
You’re very welcome! Thank you!! 🥰 I hope your mamei is okay 🥹

They’re 10 inch pots ☺️

Do they prefer rainwater? That's interesting!
Rainwater is so beneficial 😍
@@plantsbymelissa Thats so cool! Got plenty of that here in WA so I will start collecting! 😂
Do you only use superthrive when you repot? And then osmocote for the rest of the days until repot?
