Portability is essential. My A5100 does the job really well being it so light and pocketable even with the kit lens. It’s the 180deg flip up screen - best feature of A5100 👌🏻
I've been using this camera since 2015 and still can take great photos and videos comparable to the latest models out there. The best thing about it's kit lens is that it has Power Zoom, which is good for video and it also has Optical Steady Shot, good for video and photos especially at low light. 👍 Unlike other kit lens from different camera models.
I have used the a5100 to make 400 UA-cam videos -- have several bodies - great little camera. Still look good too. Good 1080p video. Good show, Cheers.
Nice video! Could I ask what capture card you use with this a5100? I think it would be a good idea if you made a video about that. A lot of people searching for this type of video. Thanks.
I actually have a whole course about recording yourself on your computer: products.marketingtoolshed.co/webcam-advantage/fe/ but I’m working on a full business video course to help people go from A-Z with their video work. As it happens, the capture card I have is an Elgato Camlink 4k. I’m currently using it with a Sony ZV-E10 as the Fuji has become my studio A cam again.
Bought a used one a few months ago (2024) as a pocketable camera to use instead of my full frame Sony. Throw it in my handbag as I head out, as a much nicer alternative to my iPhone since I shoot in raw and with a bit of editing, most shots come out pretty good. The sensor is nice as is the flip up screen, and works with all my Sony lenses. What not to love for the price?
Completely agree with you! The A5100 is such a great little camera for the price, especially as a pocketable alternative to a full frame. Shooting in raw makes all the difference, and with some editing, the results can be amazing. Plus, being able to use your Sony lenses with it is such a bonus. Honestly, it’s hard to beat for a camera that’s so compact yet so capable at that price point.
Hi,thanks for the interesting video! I own one Sony A5100 and I'm very happy with it. I was thinking of buying a Sony A6700 but I've read that the sensor performance of the A6700 shooting in raw, is quite similar to the Sony A5100. You gain with the A6700 between 1/3 and 2/3 of a stop in dynamic range,Iso performance and colour depth. In video the A6700 is clearly a better camera, but in photography as far as image quality is concerned the differences are minimal. I really like the photographs you took. ¿ Did you take them mounting the camera on a tripod or handheld?
Thanks for the comment and for sharing your thoughts! I completely agree - the A5100 holds up really well, even against newer cameras like the A6700, especially for photography. The dynamic range and ISO improvements in the A6700 are nice, but as you said, the differences in raw image quality are fairly minimal. As for the photos in the video, they were all handheld. The A5100 is such a great little camera for grabbing shots on the go, and its compact size makes it perfect for situations where setting up a tripod isn’t practical. Glad you enjoyed the photos! 😊
What I'd like to know; what do YOU look for in a camera? What are the important features that you couldn't live without?

@@skywingchannel I agree, that is a major benefit of the camera.

I have 2, love them.
They're surprisingly good, aren't they?
No doubt, fun to use

Brilliant video. Well made informative .
Thank you so much, that's really appreciated.
I am and old guy and this is a great travel camera option if you don't want to carry a big dslr or a Hasselblad
Yes, it really just slips in your pocket doesn't it. Nice, lightweight and able to grab great images.

The lens is hit and miss, some are fine others are not. Depends who was making the lens, I guess lol
I must be very lucky then, as I have 2 great ones 😂
@SteveMellorPhotography do you still want to 'get rid' of it or have you already done that? 😶🌫
By the time the video was released, I had actually sold it on MPB... Well, part-exchanged it for other stuff.
