Love my 2011 platinum 6.2L. I have a 145k on her and no one issue with the motor. I've been thru 3 lead frames in the transmission and upgraded to msd plugs. Other than that she's a monster
248k 2011 Lariat Limited I had 3 coils go out. Plugs are a chore. You got over charged on the dealer cost for plugs. I had a squirrel chew some engine wires. I think it was under $500 for the dealer to fix the wires and plugs, not a biggie. I had an AC hose blow. That cost me a few hundred at the dealer. Front dif has a weeping seal. Dealer said about $200 for that. I had a vent motor go out. That cost me less than $50, but a challenge to replace. The power steps in Wisconsin fail and break down. Those are a 4k replacement cost. My rear window defrost has now failed. I guess that is an issue. Probably not cheap being it seems the window itself might be the issue. Rust is an issue in the Midwest. I had it redone once already. It’s showing again after 2 years. What else? Oh the shifter interlock switch failed. New shifter was $350 or so. Easy fix. The linkage on the transmission came off in deep snow. What a royal pita digging my way under there to re hook that in wet slush at 3am. A lift would have helped. Key fob is failing. Two halves are separating and you have to hold it tight to make good contact when you use it. Need a replacement at the dealer. All in all the 2011 Limited hasn’t been the worst.
One thing I don't get with ford is if the 6.2l v8 is still made today they should've just left it in the f150 it's already being made it's not taking up any extra time or maybe I'm missing something
For a couple of months I was looking for a Platinum with the 5.0. Ended up finding a 2011 Limited with the 6.2 from a private seller. Not being a truck guy (until now), I hadnt even heard of the motor. This video and others convinced me to buy it. I've had it 2 weeks and I do enjoy it. I agree with Scotty Kilmer with regards to the longevity of turbo motors. Fun with less than 100K, but often problematic thereafter. It was rare to see an Ecoboost over 125K that either hadnt had work, or needed work done. Whereas the 5.0 & 6.2 had lots of examples of higher mileage without major issues. So now I have the white Limited with the 6.2 & 155K miles... feels high enough off the ground to me already with the 22 in stock wheels- and coming from a mid-sized SUV. Parking is a little different in a big truck, that's for sure. Love the sound of the 6.2 and I love all the creature comforts of the Limited level. Push button start is all it's missing, imo. A driver's side grab handle might have been nice too, but I guess I'm supposed to tug on the steering wheel to get up into it, like a proper redneck. Overall, I'm happy with the decision to buy, and your videos on your truck were a part of that decision... so thanks!
Congrats on the new truck! I’m glad I could be a part of the decision! As far as reliability goes, it’s really hard to beat the 6.2! I’m sure you’ll be happy with it for years to come! Thank you so much for watching my videos! I’m glad I was able to help you! Have a happy thanksgiving!
I just got an 11 Platinum with 6.2L. 185K miles. Very happy camper. Yes, it needed brakes and some stuff, but for something that age it is very minor repairs. I also put ENA coils from Amazon, the old ones were sparking. If they fail, I can always use the boots for that price with the OEM coils. I have 20" wheels. The platinum has an 11.1K towing capacity, but no AWD. I get 13-14 mpg. The only complaint is the A/C has some odors, it is somewhat of a common problem across all F150s. Have to shoot some lysol in. Don't you have power running boards?

Hi there, can you help? I have 2012 Ford f150 Harley-davidson 6.2L with fuel gauge failure. @@CovertGarage thanks for the reply! I’ve been daily driving a 7.3 diesel and it gets a little impractical in the cold winters here. I love big V8s but those new 10 speeds are tempting! Thanks for your time!
Honestly the Gen 3 coyote is an absolute beast. I love the 6.2 and it is dead reliable. But in reality, the coyote has more power and gets better fuel economy
@@joemooskie4444 Sure! My stock gear ratio is 3:73. That means for every 3.73 turns of the driveshaft, the wheels turn 1 time. But going to say a 4:10 gear ratio, the wheels would turn 1 time per 4.10 turns of the driveshaft. Basically the truck wouldn’t have to work as hard to turn the tires. In return though, it will raise your cruising rpm. Cancels out for larger tires basically
Brother you look like a young Matt Damon . Anyway I have a 2015 F250 6.2 . I like my truck , and I am not into looks or speed . I have done all I could to get better mpg . Thinner tires Coopers, S&B air intake , e3 spark plugs (it is a pain t o change) the only thing I can do is possibly a Sct tune for fuel economy and a bed cover. If I stay around 60 to 65 I can get around 17mpg , but I want more . Any tips on tuning which is best? I like the F250 look , and didn't want a diesel especially now $3.50 diesel here in San Antonio (expensive and maintenance cost) . I was also thinking about a bed cover . Hope to hear form you or anyone on which tuning I should get . Last thing my cluster dash lights dim down sometimes when driving anyone have that problem?
@@funguy7979 honestly don’t know if you would get that much better. Talked to some guys with them and the best they’ve ever seen is around 16. Just about what I would get without lift and tires
Been debating on doing a motor swap in my truck honestly. I have the 3.5 eco and I dislike it. I originally wanted 5.0 but ended up settling with the eco because of the color and features. I am torn between a 5.0 or a 6.2 swap
I have nothing bad to say about the 6.2 but the 5.0 is definitely more efficient and has more upgrade options. 6.2 is very reliable and just a work horse
Sure did! There’s there’s a couple of them. One is behind the glove box and is manageable to get to without removing much. One is behind the dash and requires pretty much the whole dash to come out. Either gotta do it yourself or take it somewhere! One of those little annoying things
@@jerryhamilton3287 With something like that I’d honestly go motorcraft. Sure you can save some money and get a cheaper part, but having to replace it again would be rough.
The age old question lol. A lot of it is just going to come down to what setup you’re running. If you have the strut spacer your ride will be rougher than it would be with the bigger coilover. Also depends on how big your wheels are. The bigger your wheel, the less tire there is making the ride rougher. Usually the higher the lift, the rougher the ride. That being said there is things you can do to improve it. If you do have the strut spacer, look into getting a bigger coilover instead, I’ve heard Rough Country vertex aren’t terrible for the price. Or you could go with fox for a bit more money. At the end of the day gotta give up some ride quality to look cool though🤷🏼♂️🤣

2011 Limited Lariat 2wd #2838. The 6.2L is much better feeling than the 5.4L trucks.
Very true!!
I got 2013 lariat 5.0 with high mileage and I'm looking to swap the engine, which you prefer 6.2 or gen 3 5.0?
Honestly the Gen 3 coyote is an absolute beast. I love the 6.2 and it is dead reliable. But in reality, the coyote has more power and gets better fuel economy
Regear your truck you’ll notice a huge difference in gas mileage and performance!
Definitely on the list!
Not a mechanic kind of guy can you please explain on regearing truck is it expensive. I am trying to get the most mpg out of my truck.
I am currently looking at one not sure of the price tho they are asking 21k. And it has 75k miles do you think that is a good deal ?
I’m not too sure what the current market for them is. 75k miles is pretty dang low. Might be about right but possibly a tad high
I have the same truck except Canadian version …. Get 20.1 on my rd trips to Vegas from Seattle. 55mph though…lol
Dangg!!! That 55 mph will help big time though
Wish you would hold the camera more steady
Just bought one of these myself! I'm excited to take possession of it!
You won’t be disappointed!
@@CovertGarage Heck ya!
Do they come with a differential lockers?
I don’t believe you can get a limited with a locking diff, could be wrong though. You can always get an aftermarket diff however
INDEED A VERY PROFFESSIONAL PRESENTATION BY ALL MEANS AND DEEDS ...
Thanks!🙌
What is the stock gearing for this truck? I'm pretty sure the Raptors came with 4.10/1 ratio.
Mine came with 3.73. You are correct raptors did get 4.10
Think I'll start research the 2wd 6.2L. Good video. Thanks.
You won’t regret it!! Thanks for watching!
@@CovertGarage what's your opinion on a 2wd mpgs, where you were driving???
@@funguy7979 honestly don’t know if you would get that much better. Talked to some guys with them and the best they’ve ever seen is around 16. Just about what I would get without lift and tires
@@CovertGarage The stock gears are 3.73 right? And I think you're running 4.30's I believe, correct me if I'm wrong.
@@funguy7979 Yessir stock gears are 3.73. I am still running stock but plan on switching to 4.56
What front bumper do you have?
It’s a DV8 Baja style bumper
Nice! Looks sick. I just got a 2011 f-150 with the 6.2 and was looking at ADD bumpers until I saw this one
@@williamallison858 Nice! ADD stuff is sick but man it’s expensive
I got #2326! I’ve had to do a good amount of maintance. But it’s a beast!
How many were made?

I have a 2014 6.2 xlt super cab 4door I got 33x12.50x17 I get 9.9mpg in town and 11 hwy
I got over 340000 miles and still going
Sounds like what I get haha
Been debating on doing a motor swap in my truck honestly. I have the 3.5 eco and I dislike it. I originally wanted 5.0 but ended up settling with the eco because of the color and features. I am torn between a 5.0 or a 6.2 swap
I have nothing bad to say about the 6.2 but the 5.0 is definitely more efficient and has more upgrade options. 6.2 is very reliable and just a work horse
Have you tried any tunes? Economy tune?
@@iveymabe8112 I had a generic SCT on for a whole and it did make a little difference in power and MPG
I'm thinking the same swap out the EcoBoost and go 6.2
Just save that money and put it towards the truck you want after you sell yours
What production # was your limited?
It’s number 2564!
@@CovertGarage believe mine is 311 I’ll have to double check.
Did you ever have problems with your door blend motor? I have a 2011 F-150 Harley Edition. What’s the fix without going to the dealership.
Sure did! There’s there’s a couple of them. One is behind the glove box and is manageable to get to without removing much. One is behind the dash and requires pretty much the whole dash to come out. Either gotta do it yourself or take it somewhere! One of those little annoying things
@@CovertGarage thanks a lot for the info, do it matter the brand? I’m looking at cost and reliability of the parts once replaced.
@@jerryhamilton3287 With something like that I’d honestly go motorcraft. Sure you can save some money and get a cheaper part, but having to replace it again would be rough.
@@CovertGarage sounds good!
4wd and being at a higher altitude will cause your mpgs to be low.
You are very right! I’m at around 500 ft above sea level so can’t get much lower lol
I almost bought the 62 but I live in California and ended up buying a 5.0 now gas is 539 a gallon oh my God
That extra fuel economy from the 5.0 would definitely be welcomed now haha
At how many mile did you have to change spark plugs?
I changed them at 100k miles
Love that cow truck
My 2014 stx sport has the 6.2
That’s awesome! Don’t see many with the 6.2
We’re literally the same I have a 2011 f150 6.2 limited and a 04 mustang gt😂😂
That’s so sick haha!! Heck of a combo!
Beautiful truck
Thank you!!
I got a 6 inch lift on new 35’s my ride is a bit rough , any ideas how it can get better ?
@@CovertGarage totally agree ! It’s just on high speeds man I feel every bump and rock on the road lol I got my tires balanced so that’s not it. Seems like everything shakes on the highway lol

I’ve been wanting a dyno tune! How big a difference did it make?
@Covert Garage from an sct tune im not sure what you would gain. but from stock it was like a completely different animal. He told me ballpark figure on rwhp would be around 330 to 340 range and by the time he was done it was 366. Also told me if i got headers and cai he could easily get another 30 out of it. But headers are pricey lol.
@Covert Garage not going to lie though right now i wish i had a programmer with option to switch back to stock for regular over premium purposes lol
@@robertendicott1018 Good to hear thanks for the info! Yeah headers are really expensive for our trucks haha. Gotta love the 6.2 life

Seriously can you video the truck more instead of yourself. Still don’t see much about the truck.
Was trying to find a 6.2 out of a F150 or 250 to finagle into my Crown Vic. Stock HP is appealing, but 16 sparkplugs is nuts. Think I'll keep looking for a crashed Terminator or 11+ GT. Like the New Edge tho, some 2v love is cool
Man that would be so sick haha!! But yeah the 16 spark plug thing is no joke lol. Thank you so much! Big things coming with the new edge soon
